What an educated man, who will never be happy until he gains a spiritual insight into guitar and music in general....( my opinion). As far as i know Steve gained this insight years ago, Just a magic man!
Ok ppl, this is what it is... there are many guitarist on this planet that can do what they do Satch and Vai. For Vai its a series of pentatonics just at its fullest, Satch a serious of major scales in model form... they just play guitar and for those who can't see that are trying to hippie they can achieve greatness but feel they can't bc when they hear something like THE AUDIENCE IS LISTENING, or SATCH BOOGIE they feel they just can't do that. Well, they were given the chance and bc of the look, album covers, sales you might feel they are above something. They are just average guitar players that push the simple far. Ppl do what they do and are ok with the satisfaction of doing it just for the sake of playing. Don't get me wrong, wish I pushed more at times for media coverage, but Vai has a hot wife I'm single... Really, ppl stop reading into greatness and just play your guitar for enough hours a day like they, or I or others do and have. There is no pandoras box, this takes time. You ppl are talking like Jack Butler is a reality. Some see it as a diminished scale, I see it again as a pentatonic... bringing that up bc u ppl abt like there is a God and were watching Him now. He's a great speaker and that is true... he blows Satch out in giving advice. But the simplicity is what makes him so good. All any questions you need, I'm here all day
@Kjutte1 I couldn't agree more! Satriani can make the most beautiful piece of music with three chords and a major scale, while this poser can't make a decent rememorable song whit all the scales and techniques in the world. Vai - great skills, no talent.
