“Why are there no more positive comments?” (“In my opinion” - Josh Hinger) I think they touched on it earlier, folks like Josh and Keenan scroll by positive comments on their feed. They engage with negative comments. There is no engagement with positivity, so there’s less (not no, but less) incentive to engage positively. One man’s opinion. And probably only part of the problem.
Thanks for the kind words Stefan 🙏 and thanks for the shoutout guys. Great work on the podcast. Keenan, nice mention of self-play. Josh, good to virtually meet you. Just FYI, I stepped down from my full-time position to build an AI startup. The AI podcast is a fun side project. Thanks for the invite. We'll make it happen. I'll write next time I'm in San Diego. Keep up the great work.
Lex Fridman the IDW is expanding and my social media subscribed worlds are colliding. First UA-cam comment in 10 years only to say this little thing :)
I don't know where keenan allegedly said this, but on reddit a few people alluded to the infraction below. One guy said it was mentioned on the podcast, but unless it's this one (which I just started), I must've missed it. What they said was that Keenan alluded to Gordon's sudden disinterest in MMA being a result of being bad at striking. Idk if the implication is Gordon just doesnt like getting hit, or lacks the natural talent for it like he does with grappling. Either its untrue and keenan fabricated it, warranting Gordon's anger. Or its true and Gordon's ego is fragile enough that - instead of loling at mild criticism in an area he's new to - he became upset with Keenan. Disclaimer: this is 2nd hand info, granted it was corroborated by multiple unrelated parties on the internets 🤘🤘
Keenan was kinda reserved on this one. After the whole debacle with the Gracies, he started being careful since the tabloids are starving for controversial content and he is their golden goose when it comes to this.
Subject: Professional JJ Players League. All pro sports have them. Think about it, almost all other professions have them. Even actors have SAG and AFTRA. IMHO, time for a National Jiu-Jitsu League, (NJJL) would represent professional jj players structured much like any other top professional sports organization to protect and help pro jj players insuring top professional standards and advance our sport around the world with the ultimate goal of getting it in every school and college in the US. Much like what Professor Ricardo Liborio is doing in Florida. I brought this up about MMA years ago back when it was called NHB. Surprised nobody has done this. Just saying.
To he honest rickson in his prime had no idea of the modern leglock game, berimbolo, lapel guard, inverted guards, rubber guards. In the 90s omoplatas wernt even a move yet, no one took heel hooks seriously in bjj theres just too many advancements and different games he wouldnt have faced
Please don’t advocate “not telling the teacher”. The most disappointing thing I see as a third grade teacher (and BJJ competitor) is when a kid goes off the rails hitting others or starting playground fights because “their parents told them to stick up for themselves”. So often these lightly-provoked situations result in physical altercations, injuries and strict punishment. If they would tell the teachers FIRST, it gives civil resolution a chance at least. Maybe if things persist and the teachers’ words or actions do not do the trick, then it becomes a different story. All in all, definitely the “hit first, tell later” narrative is flawed. Don’t allow your children to be victims but give the due process a chance first.
I understand where your coming from. I feel the opposite being raise to always look to authority to protect me has left deeply hurt in everyway. Of course it's not one way or the other but a mix but how is a child raised by the average American to know
lomax91 yeah my point is basically to document the incident, look for guidance and if that falls through then don’t allow yourself to be a victim. Procedural process is important for sure.
So, treat women like children when sparring? Why even let men and women spar of it leads to artificial training? Surely it’ll give women a false perception of their self defence capabilities?
More like treat women like small dudes. You dont go full power you dont just squeeze knee on belly for pressure taps you dont just stack your full weight on their neck. But other than that you can train your technique speed and stuff

Keenan said rickson in prime would be like a purple belt today.. that was the issue. When majority of purple belts aren’t close to that..
He said world champion purple belt, majority of purple belts aren’t close to that as well...

How’d they not talk about Kaynan?!
Can we talk about how shitty the flograppling app is?
It's unfortunate. Keenan I support you.
