Another fact that most people don't know is that in the Japaneses versions of the animal crossing series Gracie Grace is actually a male that just really loves fashion!
People hate nook? He doesn't really force you into debt, you're the one moving to a new town buying one of his houses. Plus you never even have to make payments
That's right. And there's no deadline where if you don't pay, you lose your house. No, paying Nook is less getting out of debt and more paying to earn a bigger house.
NOSTALGIA OVERLOAD!!!! I remember laying in bed playing AC:WW while the room was orange from the sun... I remember playing until midnight, long after Nook closed his shop, I remember hiding my DS while dad came up to make sure I'm asleep, I remember making friends with the characters and making constellations... Fuck... Where those times at now? The real time clock was so important! I was like... 7/8/9 back then.. Now I'm in the middle of doing my GCSE's... I wanna go back; gaming was so much more... immersive and enjoyable... I want that again! I used to have no worries, I was truly happy, just on my DS, immersing myself into the Animal Crossing world, it was like I was really there...
+Radical Rabbit Same here C: . I use to go to bed pretty early, so I played my Nintendo DS in the dark, but my mom would usually find it under my pillow when she'd come check on me at night... So I was playing ACNL whilst watching this and then you said, "-and could disturbingly imply that players have been digging up graves-" and I just stopped pressing buttons and stared at the screen...
Raven Chapman Well, sorry to reply on an old comment, but Gyroids are actually creatures within animal crossing that sprout out from the ground after it rains. But the fact still remains that they are, in fact, based off of Haniwa. So it's still creepy to think about.
They're particularly interesting because you're not part of the culture, so you're usually learning new things instead of reiterating known things. You can take for granted a lot of the things ingrained into your culture.
What? Blazel doesn't get any attention? Might as well take the floor... Blazel (fan nickname, his name is random text when you first talk to him) is a red squirrel villager hidden in the code of Animal Crossing (GCN) who can be accessed using a cheat code. He says: "Whuzzat? Blow me down! If ye're goin' to be like that, then you can just scrape my barnacles, ye siren!!" This is probably old text meant to be for Kapp'n or a cranky villager, assuming "ye siren!!" is his catch phrase. Talk to him a second time and his name will change into Jambette
eevee2glaceon09 Isn't Blazel a cutie? :3 I wish I had her in Tobidase, but it seems that Caroline will have to do (Who, fun fact, is part of what inspired the name "Blazel." Caroline's name in the GCN version was "Bliss." The other half was from "Hazel (GCN)" who's name is now "Sally" in modern versions... wow Nintendo, whats up with you and these name changes?)
so yeah, Tom Nook is the only Nintendo character with a large junk.(Nice use of the getting crap past the radar trope even though his large grapefruits are not outright stated.)
"Kappa are said to be mischievous, committing crimes like kidnapping children." WHAT?! MISCHIEVOUS PEOPLE PULL PRANKS LIKE SHAVING CREAM FACE, DRAWING ON PASSED OUT PERSON AND SO ON. IF THAT IS WHAT JAPANESE CALL MISCHIEVOUS I'D HATE TO SEE EVIL!
Yeah. In the original three, Tom was considered a "villain" because you owed him money. Since you could pay it back as you wanted, I felt that he didn't deserve that title. AC doesn't really have villains per se, but, I GUESS that Redd would count, since he charges a lot and most paintings are forgeries.
True, but when you owe money to someone, and they REALLY let you take you time on it, it makes for a pretty lame idea of a villain. Again, Redd is more of a "villain"
I have a theory of sorts, if the Villager is digging up graves and you can find fossils. Then maybe the old villagers in the town were dinosaurs! I know, its a bit far-out but its only a theory. A GAME THEORY!
I've played all the Animal Crossings up to New Leaf (the latest version) and still love the Gamecube version the most. Nostalgia, mostly, as I remember when this game was brand new and I had to have it. Now, I've started up another Gamecube collection and this was the first game I got for it.
The gyroids/haniwa are actually a lot creepier than just being normal burial statues. The kinds shown in Animal Crossing (or at least the newer installments that show more detail) have noticeable spots all over them, showing large amounts of contaminants in their clay. Regular haniwa don't look like that; the kind that do are a very specific type that is made by working the cremated ashed of the deceased into the clay before crafting the statue. All haniwa are made with the intention of providing a physical body for spirits to inhabit as they visit our plane of existence from beyond the grave. Those who worked the cremated bodies into the statues believed that the person's real physical body being part of the statue made it easier or what made it possible altogether. That being said, the villager Coco is a ghost who now inhabits an artificial body made with her own burned-up corpse. Her home in New Leaf is even set up to be an ancient-style crematorium.
Besides Pokemon and Pikmin, Animal Crossing is another one of my favorite Nintendo franchises. It is just so relaxing and calm to play, too bad that it's recent games have been just there to attract attention to Amibos.
CarrotsForOne If you watch 107 on Animal Crossing on The Leaderboard Channel one of the people say that there friend thinks when they are playing smash that it is a Flying Dirty Fire Hydrant
My top 3 games for the 3dsxl-💜 1) animal crossing new leaf 2) happy home designer 3) tomodachi life what id like- umm.. perhaps nintendo dogs and cats?
I feel that same way, and it's only been a few months since I last entered my town. O.o I'm afraid if I go back I'll lose one of my favorite animal villagers...
Amber Dawn I eventually went back. Only one villager moved away and not that many weeds. The sad thing is that my inbox swarmed with all the birthday I missed...
Some other interesting name puns and references, Even one suggesting it's a Town of the Worlds Mario and Friends saved from Wart as his son happens to be a Villager (Wart Jr).
It's smarter to just update new leaf. It is smarter for animal crossing to be portable. It can be picked up at any time and can be exited quickly. It can be played in small bursts. You can play it for a few minutes and quickly get out if you got to do something else. Unless Nintendo gets rid of the 3Ds I can't see it in the switches future either.
so ive been digging up graves almost my entire life....... Its all thanks to my aunt who had Animal Crossing and got me hooked. Also to someone else who actually gave me and my brother the game.
Wow, I can't believe I never saw this until now! That was very interesting. The only thing I would have added is that there are a few cheat codes (the ones you give to Tom Nook) in Gamecube Animal Crossing that actually permanently screw up the game. I remember that one made it impossible to win a contest, one removed all music from the game, and another made it impossible to even load the game. Obviously I never tried them, but I remember reading about them a loooong time ago.
Creamy Bagels They could have still launched a UK Edition in about a month after the american one. Yes, I know other translations had to be complete however a UK Version would be easy. Change Events, Change WiFi Settings and BoxArt (GFX)

Did you know there was a Gyroid item in the first game called a Stairoid? It had all three types, mini, normal, and mega. (I laughed so much when it said "I dug up a megastairoid!"
Actually, Super Mario Bros., part of the Forbidden Four, was released as a Japan-only limited time event. It was The Legend of Zelda that never saw a release on any Animal Crossing or Dōbutsu no Mori.
Yeah, I never really felt the hate for Tom Nook. Sure, it's fun to tease about it, but even before I was immersed in the Animal Crossing fandom or heard about the hate, I never got the impression that he was meant to be antagonistic. Hell, you only had 100 Bells when you arrived, even thought house was WAAAY more expensive then that, and he still was generous enough to let you pay it on your own time!
They actually have a good point with the gyroid idea about digging up graves. Think about, there are typically 3 big things you will naturally find in the ground, Gyroids, things buried with the dead. Fossils, things that are the remains of the dead, and Pitfalls, things that put you in the ground.

Its about darn time you guys came with a new episode!! :D
Pierce' catch phrase 'hawkeye" first appeared in Wild world which was realeased a year after the end of the fullmetal alchemist anime. Incidentally their is a character in that anime who is named Riza Hawkeye.
What's really funny about this game (the gamecube one anyway) is that the list of the 4 or 5 Rare NES games always changes slightly between each gamer you hear it from. The biggest difference I've noticed is that most people consider Mario Bros. to be the 5th rare game, yet that spot is taken by Wario's Woods in Action Replay codes to get the games. The 5 rare games I got (when I had a gamecube action replay) were: Punch-Out!!, Super Mario Bros., Legend Of Zelda, Ice Climber, and Wario's Woods.
Always lovely to be watching these videos~! ...Did that make sense...? Anyway, Animal Crossing has always been a HUGE favorite of mine, with me playing for years, trying to get all the cool stuff. Unfortunately, with college and my current job, New Leaf has been pretty neglected, especially in comparison to the original, and even Wild World. But regardless, thanks for the information DYKG and SpaceHamster! Always fun~!
8O I just realized I spent my entire childhood robing graves, telling moles to shut up, walking into random people's homes, hoping into boats with singing kidnappers, and selling the random things I found in the graves to messed up raccoon things. (+the ridiculous amount of time I spent playing Wario's woods)
My younger sister wanted to get into video games more recently so I showed her Animal Crossing New Leaf and now we play it every day and work together to pay off Nooks insane amount of debt
i loved that you could have mutable houses. i liked that i could have one house that was japan themed and another thats themed as something else or another have all of the oids. and i loved how each storage thing had a separate inventory, why on earth would they get rid of that?
they have a Kappa at my local zoo. The sign says "giant salamander", but I used to watch river monsters on Animal Planet and I saw the episode where Jeremy caught a kappa, so I knew.
X3C He actually does force you into debt in the original game. Once you pay off a loan he literally forces you to take another one
Nook is so cool you don’t even have to start playing till after the house is built
@@edcellwarrior sure, but you also have the option of never paying. He still gives you a house more or less for free when you move to town
In New Leaf, my brother's town name is the most creative thing in existence. Its name is....... Town.
Is he an artist?
I bet he's an artist.
Gotham Ablaze He's a fucking creative genius. He nicknamed his Charmander..... Charmander.
***** A shiny Tyranitar named MR CUTE
William Bishop I can beat that! My Frillish is named:
Jellyfish.
MegaMelonfrog Roggenrola named....... GEOrge. GET IT?
I feel like once they ported it to the west they forgot about it and in 2004 someone was lying in bed, opened their eyes and said "shit"

Digging up graves? You ruined my childhood! Who are you, Game Theory?!
So does this mean that Brewster collects graves in City Folk? Gotta watch out for those quiet ones...
The imagination that the developers at Nintendo put into their games never cease to amaze me one bit. Those guys are absolute geniuses!!
"...has about 450 times more text than the standards R.P.G." Half of that being Resetti's comments.
I would totally play Cabbage. Sounds like fun.

So I was playing ACNL whilst watching this and then you said, "-and could disturbingly imply that players have been digging up graves-" and I just stopped pressing buttons and stared at the screen...
Yeah that fact actually bothered me lol
When I dig up graves I always cover them back up
Raven Chapman yep im not digging anymore...
But... I need money
Raven Chapman Well, sorry to reply on an old comment, but Gyroids are actually creatures within animal crossing that sprout out from the ground after it rains. But the fact still remains that they are, in fact, based off of Haniwa. So it's still creepy to think about.
The Japanese versions of games are always more interesting I find.
Yea they usually are D:
Initial versions of almost anything, I'd say..
^ good point
Zelnyair Usually, we use a game patch to be able to read those in English. :3
They're particularly interesting because you're not part of the culture, so you're usually learning new things instead of reiterating known things. You can take for granted a lot of the things ingrained into your culture.

Its hard to tell because he always wear that aprin.
More text than the average RPG?
Yep. Thanks, Resetti.
Anytime I ever see anything Animal Crossing related, I always get the urge to play New Leaf
Well... at least the gyroids are happy enough that their graves got dug up to dance eternally, right?
"Kappa are said to be mischievous, committing crimes like kidnapping children." WHAT?! MISCHIEVOUS PEOPLE PULL PRANKS LIKE SHAVING CREAM FACE, DRAWING ON PASSED OUT PERSON AND SO ON. IF THAT IS WHAT JAPANESE CALL MISCHIEVOUS I'D HATE TO SEE EVIL!
Remember we are talking about Japan here
Yeah, y'know, mischievous kidnapping. It's a lot like naughty embezzling or impish murdering.
I'm glad that there are a growing number of people who understand that Tom Nook has always been a good guy.
I've only been playing Animal Crossing New Leaf for 2 days but he seems like a nice guy to me.
Yeah. In the original three, Tom was considered a "villain" because you owed him money. Since you could pay it back as you wanted, I felt that he didn't deserve that title. 4:13 The city name XD
Nobody gets along in UA-cam. =p
I wish the Virtual Console games were available on the 3ds version
So my house full of gyroids is really a house full of grave-robbed burial artifacts?
I'm suprisingly okay with this.
I have a theory of sorts, if the Villager is digging up graves and you can find fossils. Then maybe the old villagers in the town were dinosaurs! I know, its a bit far-out but its only a theory. A GAME THEORY!
Jurassic Crossing. Google it.

0:59 Hey guys! Look it's me! (Punchy)
oops, I thought gyroids were fire hydrants, them being grave markers make much more sense
Uhhhh so I noticed at 2:55 the boy has a computer with a box of tissue next to it. .__.
It's been 10 years and I still haven't payed Tom Nook back...
He's probably tracking you down as we speak...
You have a lot of debt to pay off
Don't turn the game back on. He's probably gonna pop out and kill you, Tails Doll style!

well, they are based on them so...

I have put so many hours into Animal Crossing! Some great memories! Havnt played New Leaf in a while now though.
4:18 O.o, i will never be able to unsee that
Omg this is my childhood game and I didn't knew i was grave robing........;-;
So kidnapping children is only mischievous?
I haven't played my gamecube Animal Crossing in nearing 3 years now. I'm scared to go back (0_0)

this game will never be the same after playing/reading through rubyquest.
If you bury tools in animal crossing wild world and then dig them up the next day they will be golden Tools. I can't be sure though
I now know why Tom Nook wears that apron all the time 0_o.
Anyone else waiting for an actual Wii u animal crossing game lol
yasss
yes
I personally son't care much for the console versions. The handheld versions are just easier for me to play and connect with other people.
It's smarter to just update new leaf. It is smarter for animal crossing to be portable. It can be picked up at any time and can be exited quickly. It can be played in small bursts. Now I get a little freaked out when I dig up a gyroid. It doesn't help that I usually find them right under trees or around flowers, either...
DYKG, you're so great. You helped inspire us to make videos.

Could someone help me find the song which is in the beginning of the video?
Still trying to find it myself.

Wow, I can't believe I never saw this until now! That was very interesting. I remember that one made it impossible to win a contest, one removed all music from the game, and another made it impossible to even load the game. Obviously I never tried them, but I remember reading about them a loooong time ago.
Why the 2 year later release in Europe?
CreeperChamp Because the European market isn't as profitable.
However Animal Crossing Wild World sold most copies in Europe due to the huge success of the DS.
It's all because of the different translations that were done.
Creamy Bagels They could have still launched a UK Edition in about a month after the american one. Yes, I know other translations had to be complete however a UK Version would be easy. Change Events, Change WiFi Settings and BoxArt (GFX)

because he tuk ur bells
it's extremely painful to listen to americans trying to pronounce japanese names. but nevertheless, good video

So we've been digging up graves... Great... Everything has to have subliminally creepy things, don't they? Great. Fantastic. Love it.
Animal Crossing in my Soup,

Digging up graves? *shivers* Yeah... That freaked me out too! o.o

they have a Kappa at my local zoo. The sign says "giant salamander", but I used to watch river monsters on Animal Planet and I saw the episode where Jeremy caught a kappa, so I knew.
Animal Crossing music always makes me wanna cry i dont know why they just do
