It’s so interesting to hear an outsider’s perspective on a place that’s so close to us. I live maybe 20 minutes from shipshewana, and my aunt actually works at E&S, has for years. Thank you for the video, and for enjoying what the community has to offer.
Awesome video. You did a great job showing a lot of the great things here in Ship. I am fortunate to be a local here. It's an awesome place to raise a family as we did our daughter. You probably got your beautiful greenery in the Shipshewana Craft Barn. Joyfully Said is an awesome & beautiful decor store that is fairly new. It used to be a theater, believe it or not! It had a beautiful wooden floor. My daughter and I have performed on that stage many times and we still perform at the Essenhaus car show a couple of times per year. I really enjoyed your video!
Thank you! And how neat is that?! Too bad the theater isn't still up and running but at least the building is still being used for something neat. We really liked that shop. And if we are ever there during a car show again & there are dancers, I'll wonder if it's you! LOL
I am in Shipshewana right now reading this at the Blue Gate. I bring the grand kids every year and they love it. Tomorrow we are going to an Amish farm where they can milk a cow, bottle feed a calf and drink fresh milk. Tomorrow is also flea market day. Thursday we'll do E&S and maybe Forks. One day I'd like to do Ohio and Pennsylvania Amish. I love when you do Amish vlogs.
I was just in Shipshewana last week! I am a teacher from AZ, and we were there for a reading conference at the Blue Gate Conference Center. We stayed at the Blue Gate Garden Inn. We got to go on a carriage ride through the little town. The Blue Gate Bakery was my favorite. I wish we had the chance to go to the grocery store you showed in your video. I had never even heard of Shipshewana before this conference so it was funny to see it featured in your video!
Oh my word! How fun is this?! We love the outdoor courtyard & fire pit area at the Blue Gate ... well, we enjoy all of it really. It's nice to sit there and relax at the end of the day. That's just too funny ...all the way from AZ to Shipshewana! My hubs was just in AZ for a work event last month. He stayed at a really fantastic resort but I'm drawing a blank what area he was in.
The different flavored milks are made at a creamery in Osceola, Indiana. The creamery has a store front in the middle of nowhere on their farm. They offer the milk, frozen meats, and other foods like jams, fresh baked bread, cookies, yogurt. They also have gifts and an ice cream parlor. They have seasonal offerings like fresh produce and flowers, too. A calf or two might be available for the kids to see and pet. Definitely worth the drive there. Crystal Springs Creamery at 60020 Ash Road, Osceola.
Thank you so much for this great info! I love stores just like that & we seek those out when we are in Amish country, especially. I wish I had bought some of that flavored milk. Again, thanks for the info! Sounds like a fun place to visit!
That is some beautiful countryside. Shopping in those type stores are so interesting. From cloth to clocks. Gloves and boots. Planting garden things and bulk foods. The prices are amazing. Thanks for taking us along.
I so wish I could do this! I love reading Wanda Brunstetter books and some of hers take place in that county. I feel like I know so much about Amish life from reading those books.
Welcome!! I know right where you are! My brother-n-law just retired from Subaru a couple months ago. We are south central. We lived in Greenwood for many years before moving a little further south. We love visiting there too, one of our favorite get-aways. We are getting ready to head to Holmes County, OH, another one of our favorite amish communities. I'm going to try and film a good bit when we are there.

That is the Dutch Country Market in Middlebury (11401 CR 16). We go here every time and always leave with something good! This store in part of the Quilt Gardens on the Heritage Trail ... they have a beautiful one that you'll see when you pull in their lot. It's called the Friendship Bouquet Garden.

We live about an hour from Shipshe and don't get there as often as we would like.
I understand! I think it would be fun to do some Christmas shopping there ... or even before hand for cooking supplies for the holidays, etc.
Have you ever gone to the horse auction ?
@@evelynrogers7145 we did one time 😀
What is the name of the store that had the flavored milk? I call E&S the cheap store.😂
