Is there any wrecker yards near you might be better to get new well a good wrecked chassis put the cab and sleeps on that update rear axles at same time disc brakes even big job either way. Worth it though can't beat a Kenny aerodyn definitely a epic build brother
Thanks Mark! I could definitely source one although a bare chassis that is not written off due to a crash or burnt to the ground can be hard to find and expensive if I do find one as a lot of trucks get repaired as they are so expensive to buy brand new! Thanks for watching mate👌🏻
I just finished tearing down an 8V92 that I found some of the same looking thin brass/copper flakes in the pan. It ended up being a main bearing that delaminated from the steel backing shell, fourtunately it didn't damage the crank. I'm surprised that the rust jacking is such an issue there, what would be the cause? We have it bad here in Canada due to the salt spread on the roads in the winter to melt snow and ice.
Beautiful old truck He'll of alot of work for you Chassis rails your basically rebuilding it Motor would've been bad enough Hopefully you get many years of happiness driving it Happy Australia 🇦🇺 day tomorrow enjoy family friends and good Tucker and a few coldies You guys are earning them on this old girl Think engine has a few issues oil in water normally means head or head gasket The mental in sum plug hole are bearing shells My guess why locked up the bores fill of water it locks engine up you can't compress water Seen people try to tow start engines like this break the crank as it cat compress the water and snaps the crank Only way is to drain the water from bores and if not rust solid they'll turn over sometime if bore are free you can un stick a engine Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
I've never been a big fan of trucks that run the engine under the cab i know its to save space ect ect but its just a pain ive only ever worked on c500 with the k19 and a vig bonnet western star and they where bloody tight in those cabs it would suck in a sar
If it was a simple re rail and spray the chassis I’d say 150-200, being that I’m doing the engine and all kinds of other repairs ect I’d say I’ll have over 500hrs in it by the time I can drive it again
I’ll leave the 10 stud on for now and until I have atleast driven it some, I do love spiders so I may put it on some super single spiders when it’s on the road again!
In the first video where I introduced the truck I spoke about some of my plans with it, but the general run down is new chassis rails, swap engine out for another KT and basically do anything that needs doing for the cabin down and get it back in the road again
awesome not only is there a shit load of work in what your doing @ the rebuild there's nilly as much work in making the vid's, i do like a smicko SAR, In 1980 i was @ Sydney a cousin was a truckie & i did a little driven also TNT had over nite SAR Sydney/Melb they were 100 mph trucks with a 8v92TTA

Happy days from kiwi land
Thanks for watching Alan!
@@dieseldownunder. mate got to stay bizzy some how seen health issues now have meant I’m not in the fix it or drivers seat anymore.
Biggest thing I miss is operating earthmoving machinery.
That is one big motor.!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks heaps bloke.That was mad.
Looks awesome
Beautiful old truck
He'll of alot of work for you
Chassis rails your basically rebuilding it
Motor would've been bad enough
Hopefully you get many years of happiness driving it
Happy Australia 🇦🇺 day tomorrow enjoy family friends and good Tucker and a few coldies
You guys are earning them on this old girl
Think engine has a few issues oil in water normally means head or head gasket
The mental in sum plug hole are bearing shells
My guess why locked up the bores fill of water it locks engine up you can't compress water
Seen people try to tow start engines like this break the crank as it cat compress the water and snaps the crank
Only way is to drain the water from bores and if not rust solid they'll turn over sometime if bore are free you can un stick a engine
Cheers mate 🦘🇦🇺👍
What is the biggest motor house power wise that you all use down there.???????????
I've never been a big fan of trucks that run the engine under the cab i know its to save space ect ect but its just a pain ive only ever worked on c500 with the k19 and a vig bonnet western star and they where bloody tight in those cabs it would suck in a sar
Are you going to but an airbag suspension on the rear
Not at this stage, I’m going to keep it 6 rid for now to keep the truck original and simple, maybe one day In the future!
Spoke too soon 😅 gonna watch the video 📹
Awesome Jake, How many hours you do you recon it will take to re rail it?
If it was a simple re rail and spray the chassis I’d say 150-200, being that I’m doing the engine and all kinds of other repairs ect I’d say I’ll have over 500hrs in it by the time I can drive it again
@ 500 x $60= 30k feels like a good investment bud. Can’t wait to see your next vid.
Are you going to swap the alloys out for spiders or keep it like that? Wide fronts on spider hubs would be the go
I’ll leave the 10 stud on for now and until I have atleast driven it some, I do love spiders so I may put it on some super single spiders when it’s on the road again!
Have you said what yournplans are for the truck? Sorry if I missed it😢
In the first video where I introduced the truck I spoke about some of my plans with it, but the general run down is new chassis rails, swap engine out for another KT and basically do anything that needs doing for the cabin down and get it back in the road again
Are you going to keep the ten stud steers or put it back to spiders in the front???
Wickard to see ya dad in there spanna bending CHEERS JAKE AND DAD
Thanks for watching as always Ron, yep dad was into me about starting on this one as I kept putting it off but it needs to be done👍🏻
Bearing 🤷♂️ that oils got a 2nd life 😅
👍👍👊
awesome not only is there a shit load of work in what your doing @ the rebuild there's nilly as much work in making the vid's, i do like a smicko SAR, In 1980 i was @ Sydney a cousin was a truckie & i did a little driven also TNT had over nite SAR Sydney/Melb they were 100 mph trucks with a 8v92TTA
Geez Jake, them rails are rotten, bad for an aussie truck, common in America's rust belt. She's had a rough few years I reckon but I am sure you will polish her up to be pretty again . Look forward to the next adventure mate.
Do your self a favor and pull cab and bunk off, your going to have to strip rails down to nothing and will make reassembly a lot easier
You make a good point I have considered it multiple times and it’s not really a big deal to pull it off, my biggest issue is floor space in the shed, I really don’t have any spare room to have a cab and big bunk sitting around😂
Magnet??? 🤔 in the oil 🛢
👀
Please be careful might end up with chapped lips 😂
A lot of work just to pull the engine out. It's not like the W900 for sure
There’s Definitely abit more involved in this one Nelson! Everything is twice as heavy too😂 did your T-shirt make its way over to you safely?
Cheers
Other than the shite music good Video Jake, you & your Dad are doing a sterling job mate, good luck 👍
Thanks mate! I struggle picking music as everyone is different and I don’t want to voiceover the whole thing, if you have any suggestions/requests that UA-cam won’t sting me for copyright I’d be happy to include them in videos!
Cheers
@@dieseldownunder. Hey Jake, use the sounds of Engines, Tools, Welders etc that way you won't incur any Copyright. What Engine are putting back inbetween the new rails?
Poor forky needs new tyres there young Jake. Soon the diff head will be dragging on the ground 😂😂😂
Nice to see there max milage out of them, looking like fully abused race tyres
Hahaha they have served me well, she’s almost dragging on the ground at this point. Luckily I’ve had a new set on order for a little while now and they should be here in the next week or two so it won’t be like that too much longer😂
@@dieseldownunder. yeah well see. Your focuse is more on the Ws and the SAR than the poor old forky. Plenty more in the yard to Practice doing burnouts on. That’s why it’s tyres are slicks a Jake.
@@johngibson3837 he’s been practicing his burnouts down the back😂
Stupid question did anyone but a ratchet on the crank 🤷♂️
Go back to original colour and graphics looks way better than any other they did lol
The original red? It’s a classic old school look that I really like too!
