This video, thanks to you, Taylor, inspired me to hike Mount Washington. I'm 69 and was hesitant to attempt it. But I hiked 12 mountains, each one bigger and longer than the last. Plus exercise. Then the day after Labor Day, 2023, it came true. I'll never forget it. Great videos. I appreciate the hard work that goes into them, being a retired videographer. Hike on, be safe.
My first hike ever was Mt Washington via Tuckerman in 2008. It was brutal for a first hike but got me hooked, and that was the start of my NH48 adventure. Many thanks from Quebec,
We are thinking of doing it this summer. Is Tuckerman harder than Ammonoosuc? What makes people choose one trail over the other? Thanks.
@@donnajean72 I found Tuckerman way harder, but Amonoosuc is a bit longer. Thence the choice between grade and distance. Both are very scenic and awesome.
Hike and climb while you can young lady. At 71 my knees won't allow that anymore. Starting in the early 70's I climbed Mt. Washington 17 times plus 3 other times that we prudently turned back due to inclement weather. The Franconian Ridge and the Pemigewassett Wilderness are two other favorite hikes in the Whites. Stay safe, peace.
Something mystical being up at the top of Washington. Thanks
Other than it being an absolute circus up there, yeah it's pretty surreal standing at the highest point in New England, and being able to look and see for hundreds of miles on a clear day.
I love this trail! You would love Mount Adams. Up The Airline trail even steeper The view is just as good as well. You did a great job!
Awesome adventure. Loved that you included the people that recognized you
That was fun!
Washington and Monroe... 2-bagger... whoa! Great watching your videos, Taylor! 😊. And your videography is wonderful... 👍🏼
Thanks so much!!
you started at 11:00 am?! If I am on the trail past 7 I am paranoid of not making it back before dark.
It's summer and also not the alps
When I was in high school we would camp overnight at the Mount Deception campground so we could get an early start, usually around 8AM.
Always a worthy hike :) Have done Washington twice now. Need to get back!
Awesome video 🙂 can’t wait to do Washington in the spring or summer. I think I’ve missed my window of wanting to do it this season haha
This was the loop that got it all started for me and my wife. We did this for our 25th wedding anniversary...it was so beautiful. We came down the Jewell trail. Wow, that lot is packed! Great video.
Very nice!
Taylor, the State of New Hampshire should name you as an official ambassador to the state! I'm from the East Coast, but I currently live and work in the Silicon Valley. After watching these hiking videos, I want to hike through "Nahamsha!" Well done!!!
Thanks for the trip down memory lane! In 1975 On Memorial Day a friend and I hiked up and skiied Tuckermans, most of the trail up was snow covered and skiing was great. We also skied down as far as we could then bushwacked back to the car. Weather was perfect and beer was cold.
About a month later we biked up the road until clouds got so thick we couldn't see anything. No guardrails, just big rocks about 10 feet apart. Decided to turn around and head down. The constant braking heated the rims up enough to melt the sew-up glue and our tires started to roll of the rims. Kind of a hairy descent but again the beer was cold at the bottom.
This Maineiac loves your posts, ayuh!
You had a beautiful day , I was taking to someone recently about my trip took the sane way you did , it started out beautiful and then up by where the alpine started it started downpouring and winds kicked up to 80+ got to the hut and we decided it might be more dangerous to turn back some we pushed to the summit and made it and were lucky enough to take a train down .
That place looked so different on Monday morning. Quite frightening but no rain, no crazy hurricane force winds, no Maine 😁
Awesome hike! Was out there a couple months ago but wasn't able to hike it cause I'm recovering from a twisted ankle. Also, your voice is so similar to mine that I can finally understand what I probably sound like to other people without cringing from hearing my own voice. And I like it! Thank you so much for this accidental gift!
Girl you are like a breath of fresh cool mountain air! 😊🏔💨😝👍
Hehe Thanks!
Thanks for sharing. We're heading up to do the Presidential Traverse next Saturday.
Looks like you had a beautiful preview to a fall hike, looks like a good workout with them boulders enjoyed video very much..
I'm excited for fall hikes!
Nice video. In case you have any doubt, you are also good scenery. Always a nice smile.
Nice video! I love the ammonoosuc ravine trail up Mt. Washington. It’s steep but enjoyable. Looks like you had to deal with some crowds though!! Try it again in winter, you’ll hardly see a soul!
Took a 4 1/2 hr car ride from NYC to Hanover NH (for a few days). Nice little town. Hike the AT for 10 miles from Hanover (5 miles out, 5 miles back to Hanover). The forest/trail was dark and dense and it was a perfectly sunny day. I like New Hampshire/Vermont ... cute little towns.
Starting out a little windy. Your knowledge of that area is awesome. Atb
Hi Taylor. I was so psyched to see this one. I did that exact trail when I was up there visiting my cousins about a month ago. It was clear at first, but was semi wet and the clouds moved in and I never got to see the view that you had from on top. Thank you so much for that. I was remembering all the landmarks that you were showing. So, love your videos. I can not wait for your next one. I am learning a lot . I am backpacking West Virginia this week. I am going to hit as many peaks in the Whites starting in April. I can't wait for my merchandise to come in. Probably today. I will be wearing them on my trip. Plan on getting more. You rock:)
Awesome! Thanks for watching and I'm glad you enjoyed. Enjoy your new nahamsha stuff!
You are BUFF!!! thanks for taking me along
I live in NH. I just did the Gunstock trail loop today. Haven’t done Mt Washington in years, may go check it out next week!
After watching this, I'm setting a goal to do it next year during the summer. I'm 52 and I hike sections of the AT here in the Blue Ridge mountains in VA and MD. Its about a 10 hour drive for me to get there but it'll be worth it. I reeeeeeeeeeeealllly want to do that hike!
Good video, with lots of great views, so let's keep on hiking 💪 😀 👍
For sure!!
My first and only hike up to the summit of Mt. Washington was in 1980 when I was 17 years old. I was completely unprepared. I had never hiked any mountain before. I believe it was spring. There were millions of biting black flies swarming and biting us constantly. We left at the crack of dawn, the guy I was with almost fell down an ice field and would have died had he not held on. The hiking boots I had didn't fit properly so with every step I took on the way down, my toes were slamming into the front of my boots. That night and for the next several days, I couldn't walk. My big toe nails turned black and eventually fell off a few weeks later. I had problems with them for years and eventually had to have surgery on them in 1993. I can't believe I was actually able to climb such a huge mountain. If I recall, it took us about 8-10 hours to get up and down. Thank you for sharing your video. It brought back a lot of memories for me.
As always, a fantastic video.
Glad you enjoyed it
When I was in high school, I would hike up the Ammonusuc Ravine Trail and descend via the Jewell Trail. Afterward, we would go for a swim in river.
Awesome video! Really nice hike. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for watching!
@@TaylortheNahamshaHiker you're welcome! We really enjoy making outdoor videos also
Agreed that your videos and your editing continue to get better and better. Well done! You mentioned it was a "zoo" up there. I would urge you to use your platform to remind folks to consider purchasing a NH Hike Safe card. Fish and Game is always stretched thin but especially this year with Covid and with so many new hikers out there - many of whom are not as prepared as they could be. Thanks and be safe out there.
Cool trail with beautiful views. Looks like a good workout too. Awesome you’re getting recognition from your fans, that’s pretty neat.
For sure!
Great video Taylor....thx for sharing....I like your unique colors....like we say....hike your own hike....in whatever color makes you happy....stay safe pretty girl...!!!
Thanks!
Beautiful views!
I hiked up Mt. Albert Edward 2 days ago and same thing... loads of people on trail.. thankfully, seems like people were packing out what they were packing in..
Well done🤙
Good stuff!
Haha, I was there the same day. Beautiful day! We did tucks, and boot spur on the way down!
Nice to see a NH youtuber doing outdoor things. I have climbed up washington twice. But not the way you went. Looks awesome . Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
Awesome beautiful fantastic amazing outstanding vlogging hiking and scenery all the very best.
Glad you enjoyed it
Cool fashion and Mt. Washington - can't beat that. Thanks for braving the busyness for this weeks episode.
No problem!
Very cool. Thanks for taking us. Wonder how the thru hikers will deal with huts closing. More miles to get below tree line I guess.
I thruhiked in 98 (age 55) and stayed in 3 of the huts between Crawdord Notch and Pinkham notch. I noticed most of the people who stayed in the huts were overnight hikers and make reservations weeks or months ahead. Back then the hut system would make room for a few thruhikers (work for stay) each night ; I'm not sure about now.
Work was minimal. The huts were too expensive(about $70 US including 2 great meals and a bunk) for many thruhikers, especially college kids). I was older with disposable income so I was fortunate. Many young thruhikers thought the huts should be free. Staying in the huts was a great experience, food was awesome and the college aged staff who work there had a lot of good stories about competition between the huts. There are several interesting books on tragedies on the mountain (over 200 deaths). The rescue teams have my highest respect.
Nice video Taylor, I never tire of seeing Mt Washington : it is awe inspiring. Thanks
You really motivate me to go on a solo hike Thanks for sharing
Go for it!
I drove up the mountain in July of this year. Stayed at the Glen House. Absolutely beautiful place. I wish i could have experienced it in this way. Thanks for the video!
Super video! My daughter and I have hiked MW four times (Seek the Peak).....haven’t in a while, need to hike it again soon. Stay safe!!
The train at the top was unexpected! Amazing views!
It was pretty cool! I've never seen the cog in action like that before
ive climbed mt washington 9 times and ive done this trail 2 times. such fun and great views. i like 4.5 hours away and always worth the drive, be better if i lived closer.
Been watching since the beginning and still enjoy all your videos!
Awesome! Thank you!
My name is Matt Beck been. Watching your videos for a few months great job like them all we were up mount Washington Saturday sept 5via Pinkham notch visitor center tuckeman ravine trail.... Wicked rough and tough trail.... Keep it up!!! Great job...
Keep hiking!
Loved this hike! Thanks for showing so much scenery (wow - so many people!). Looking forward to more (and of course to you being able to take on the AT end to end.). Be safe and happy trails.
Thanks for sharing the hike with us. It looked like more people hiking up the trail with you than down. Do some hikers take the cog down instead of hiking it down?
Hi there 🙏
Thanks very much for sharing. You did it so well with ease and smooth.
Please share us more about how to get to the parking spot and which trains one should take. I am looking forward for My Washington and Monroe train this August. And I’ve liked yours trial the best.
You any information will be very helpful and appreciated in advance .
Great Work!! I love seeing the PLB, that mountain is no joke. Glad you take safety seriously!
Thanks for the videos, great to see new trails around NH. Too bad it's so overcrowded lately, with people leaving garbage everywhere. Sad. Next time I'm in the lakes region, have to stop by the store and pick up a Nahamsha sticker👍
Hello Taylor, a big thank you for sharing another beautifully filmed video. You always do a great job. I'm envious that you are able to get out and hike. Right now there are 31 fires ablaze in California. I like your hiking outfit, very colorful. You're a true trendsetter. All the best to you Dear. Please stay safe and healthy.
🤗
Thanks for taking us along!
You bet!
Taylor, you're great. We were just talking about Mt. Washington and you had just done it. Here's your video. I've only driven to the top although that's an adventure itself. Man I miss NH. Too late for this year but it looks like 2021. :)
2021.. do it!
We're heading up the AT and over Washington in 2 weeks! I did it on my NOBO thru hike in 2017, but I'm a still a little nervous as this was one of the harder sections. BUT... after this is Wildcat Mountain... This is nothing compared to that so get ready! I hope you did it! It's very challenging! You'll love it.
Just missed you. I hiked that trail Saturday with my family. It was crowded then too, but the weather was great for Washington. Enjoy your videos. Just getting back into hiking after years away from it. You inspired us to do Mt. Pierce in another one of your videos.
That is awesome!
Love your content!
& I just figured out what Nahamsha is 😂
It looks like you went on the busiest day of the year! Beautiful weather.
It was busy! Holiday weekend.
Awesome video of the hike! I’ll be on the Ethan Pond Trail this weekend - we New Hampshirites have quite an awesome playground! Thanks as always 😊
Thanks for watching! Have fun on your hike :)
Always that guy with the striped shirt and sandals at the peak. Good say to summit with that visibility! Thanks for the video
It was a great day, thanks for watching!
so excited to watch this!! washington looked so beautiful covered in snow from your last trip ☺️
It was so pretty, makes me want to hike it again in a couple months to see the snow
Thank you for the video, i miss the white so much
Looks like a beautiful hike! I may hike it late next summer. Have you ever hiked the Old Rag Trail located in the Shenandoah National Park located in Virginia? If so, I wonder how this hike compares. The rock scrambles look similar except Mount Washington looks like it has a lot more water streams.
I've never hiked in Virginia, but it's the plan for 2021!
The Ammonoosuc Trail is a fun trail. Very direct
I'm happy to see you didn't start at the Cog and pay Presby to park there.
I feel like parking there was my intent, but my GPS took me to that smaller parking lot instead and I was more than OK with that haha
Great video.. thanks for sharing 👍
Great video. Can't wait till the next one. Thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Love your channel. Thanks for taking us along.
Glad you enjoy it!
Sweetie you are beautiful scenery too and much more. Wow, such an impressive crimb. Thank you for taking us with you !
Great video considering people zoo! P B and Taylor. Can’t wait for the next video. Thanks for the adventures
Thanks for watching!
Awesome i am hoping do try this next i did mount jefferson yesterday my 1st real hike haha was such a blast! Great video!
I wish I could give this one a ten thumbs up!! I so much enjoyed this journey you hiked. Thanks so much!
Wow, thanks!
Nice i was there on labor day, we hiked up the crawford path and did pearce, monroe, eisenhower and then washington. The weather changed so quickly.
Very cool!
I love Mt. Washington, but I also respect it. I've aged out for that type of challenge. I was fortunate in '98 with my thruhike to have gorgeous weather. My wife and I did a three day EDUTRIP sponsered by the observatory in January. They also sponser one in the summer.Wonderful
experience. Thank you for this video, it reminded me of my experiences there.
Very cool! Glad you enjoyed the video
That was so cool you did that hike that weekend, Wife and I and my son spent the week in Bartlett and one of our adventures was the Cog ride up Friday smack in the clouds. still had fun. Your end was awesome.
Love it!
Great hike. Awesome views. Thanks for sharing it!
Thanks for watching!
Love it! /Beautiful views! We used to hike in the area back in the day. Not sure we could do this hike now.
Thanks for the video, we want to hike it also in September. Lets see if it is the same as in Europe.
Thanks for the beautiful video. When you were pointing out the mountains when you got to the top you said monadnock but I couldn’t figure out which one it was. I live in the monadnock area & I see this beautiful mountain daily & know it’s distinctive outline but none of the mountains in the distance looked like it. If there’s a way to point it out to me I’d appreciate it. I sadly have never made it up to mt. Washington so I was absorbing all the beauty you showed. Thanks
I was having a hard time figuring out what peak was monadnock. I watched it back a couple times and I think the one tall peak in the distance might be kearsarge, and monadnock is to the left of it more in the clouds. I think I saw it in real life, but maybe it didn't come out that well on camera.
You bring back so many memories of vacation time as a kid in the Whites. One thing is to show just a little more of the drive to the location since I know the roads and towns around the area can be as beautiful to see. Where is your gift shop located?
Haha I did this trail a week or two ago with my friends it’s so cool seeing the video you made now. You really captured the whole adventure. good video!
Thanks!
WOW you had perfect weather for that! If I had to live somewhere close to hiking it would be NH! But I can't move that far away from my 7 grandkids...When I left for the AT I only had two, it would be difficult leaving all of them, but I would love to do some hiking "up north" before I get too old, lol.
You should, one day!
Well done, Taylor. I have to say, having never seen any video of the Mt. Washington summit, the fact that there is an f'n train on the top makes me not care in the least if I'm ever there. Really a shame that such a grand peak has become a parking lot and a train station.
Your path was honorable. Good job!
Welp, at least you weren't the one up there. I enjoy seeing people out and enjoying the mountains whether it be by foot, car, or train.
But thanks for watching the video! Hope you enjoyed!
@@TaylortheNahamshaHiker Aww, now you're making me feel like a curmudgeon. LOL. You make good points...I guess I'm just a crusader for keeping the wild places wild. I did enjoy your vid, as I do all your vids...that's why I subscribed! Thanks for the reply.
Awesome video I was at the summit of Mount Washington on Saturday with some friends and it was packed too. But a fun time
Very cool!
New melanzana!! Congrats!
I was only on the waiting list for a year hahah
Wow, your got perfect weather. Great video
The weather was so ideal! Thanks for watching
Happy Birthday!
Amazing hike. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
Hi Taylor I was just thinking that you could be the next host to windows to the wild if and when Willem Lange retires just a thought
Awesome video!! What month did you hike?
The parking lot looks as crowded as the lots in the National Forest that I hike! Especially now everyone wants to get out for day hikes!!!
I don't even think that was the main parking lot. The lot at the end of the street is much larger and that was probably full too
Nice hike!!! Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks for watching!
Mt. Washington is definitely on my list! Thanks for sharing the adventure with us. I love watching your hiking vids while I'm stuck inside due to a knee surgery. Working hard at physical therapy and watching your videos keep me going! I got a Hike planned in 26 days, gonna make it happen. Stay positive!
Awesome video update good hike👍🌲
Glad you enjoyed it
I love your videos!
Nice i was up there last Thursday . It’s always packed. Great video!😍 great time. You must be speedy!! Taylor where does that hooded pull over come from? TIA
Nice! Glad you enjoyed the video. And the hoodie is from Melanzana in CO.
Hi! I just found your channel and I've been binge-watching the videos. I'm an NH resident as well and would love if you could talk about some of the lists in NH. The 48 and 52 and any others. I'm a beginner hiker and getting into venturing out into all our state has to offer. Keep up the great videos!
I have this exact video planned out for the near future!
Awesome just did a solo up tuckerman ravigne
