Many people "assume" that Borzoi are not smart or trainable.. so they do not bother training them. They are a very sweet breed and respond well to positive reinforcement, love, and the enjoyment of learning things.. and the bond/relationship that is built throughout! :-)
My Borzoi is very smart... and sneaky. She stole a whole pound of butter from the kitchen table while I was putting away groceries and my back was turned. She sneaked away and ate the whole thing in a quiet corner of the house and even tried to hide the wrapping paper. Yes, I do feed her and definitely enough food. She is just too smart for us. I was certain I had put the butter in the fridge.
Oh woow!! I love this video! It make me smile so much! These are my favorite breeds as well. I am a Border Collie owner right now but one day a borzoi will join us.
I soooo love Borzois...Now I can show folks so they don't try and tell me "Hey, they're a hound and will never listen to you." I'm a schipp owner and I concur that time and patience can make ANY breed show it has a brain!!
I love the outtakes! My BC, 3 year old Angel will anticipate and start doing every trick she knows if she is excited enough. The Borzois are beautiful!
Thanks for this video, waiting for my borzoi puppy now, and people still talking about how she will be stupid, and runn away, and some nonsence, you make great example of borzoi "smrat head" :)
@DGriffin518 Congratulations on getting a Borzoi puppy! Actually I feed some of them in a feeder off of the ground and some of them with their dishes on the ground. It is just happens to be convenient for me and the area where the individual dogs are being fed at. We feed twice a day. They are not fed before or after exercise or high energy training however. I can say that I DO prefer them being fed up off of the ground, but I have had no problems with feeding them either way.
You just show tricks both dogs learned. Thats not showing how smart your dog is. Border collies can solve problems by them selves, faster then any other dog can. Thats what makes them the smartes dog, not some tricks you learned your dog.
Thanks for this video. It is obvious that you love and take time with your dogs. I get my Borzoi puppy next week (After researching this breed for months.) Still not sure if I feed from the ground or on a raised feeder, after reading conflicting articles. How do you feed your Borzoi?
@DGriffin518 I feed them twice a day and can feed them either up high or on the ground. I do not feed before or after a high energy training session or active exercise. If a Borzoi is one that GOBBLES it's food, I would recommend a dish that is made for that kind of eating style. There are dishes made specifically for that.
I don't understand why people insist dogs like borzoi are stupid just because they're eager to please. Borzoi are loving, loyal, and very intelligent.

I love this video as my fav dogs are borzois and border collies :D
In the outtakes, the BC reminds me of a toddler. They always shake their heads when you ask a question
@Mandalark These two breeds are just so awesome... and they really do compliment each other, getting along very well together.
