- Short video on a Lanz Bulldog 15/30 model. Had been sitting for around 60 years in a farmer's field. We pulled it out and tore it apart. Engine was seized and the tires were gone. Although a lot of time and labor went into this, we wanted to keep the original and farm fresh appearance. This was the first day we had it running again! Very unique machine! What do you guys think? (It doesn't actually run on maple syrup but crude oil, kerosene and diesel all work!)
Song is Good Old Days by Joakim Karud
how could anyone give a thumbs down to that old lady running again. Very cool.
That's really cool to see something breath life again after 60 years. It's a real testament to the quality of craftsmanship of what used to be produced.
This tractor reminds me of the old field Marshall we had in GB, never forget the smell of them and the throb of the starting.all this was when I was about Seven years old, I like to see them displayed at the Great Dorset steam fair at Tarrant Hinton, England ,a great show.
Its so happy watching cars that have been sitting for years to start up again
I have seen it, long ago, mint condition in my home town, this was in the early 60's in Pirajuí , SP, Brasil
Great video! My only suggestion is that it doesn't need any background music. The tractor makes beautiful music itself and the other is just distracting. Love the tractor!
OilHist: RIGHT YOU ARE !
Just looking at it I can say that it probably wasnt abandoned due to major mechanical issues but rather because the farmer bought something that was easier to start, maybe with a pony motor, that didnt rattle his teeth out. Which is awesome. I love these old machines but damn sure wouldnt want to spend all day on one.
My grandfather used to have one, not the most efficient engine but a hot bulb engine could run on anything including old, used engine oil. grandpa used to scavenge grandma's old cooking oil from her little cafe and use it mixed with kerosene to run his bulldog. he even used old engine oil one winter when he couldn't get to the gas station to get some gas or kerosene.
Lisa winn I run my 1980 merc 300sd pretty much on anything besides gasoline
Gebaut mit Deutsche grúndlichkeit, sehr schön!!!
That's the coolest old tractor I've ever seen.
Love old stuff .It is worth preserved it in a museum .
Thank you so much for the time travel. Incredable to see and hear the past like that. Sounds great.🚜
That's the most unique machine I've seen in a long time.
Nice work!
Thanks for sharing.
It's wonderful to see something like this given a new lease on life!
very nice machine, take care of it! We have a D1506 from 1952, basically the last generation of hot-bulb tractors from Lanz.
greetings from Germany
Ringo - Lanz, Eicher u
These machines were almost indestructible and ran on any fuel available. German farmers knew exactly what they were doing when they were running these tractors - they brought in the crops no matter what!
they always run even after 100 years they nearly never break
Great to see the ole gal running again after all these Years...👍
Very nice. And guaranteed to start the same in any weather (if you have the time to start it).
Besides using them on the farm, a lot of Europeans used them for general transportation as well.
I've always said that if I were ever to need anything larger than a lawn tractor, a Lanz Bulldog would be what I would look for. Although it might be easier to import one than to find one in the U.S.
Always good to hear them old hot bulbs running I would love to own one
Thanks for sharing I love the old stuff it was built with pride and built to last, not like this junk today
Even though I'm an IH guy but the Lanz Bulldog is one my top favorite import tractors
Very interesting old machines like this.
Cool! Always good to see these tractors up and running again
Great to see it moving rather than just a start up, neat toy!
In Australia we had a version/copy of these made by Kelly & Lewis, they ran smoother than the Lanz with much less up and down movement, I owned one once and regret selling it!
I love old vehicles. Take care of the old girl.
Must be one of the best machines ever made considering how many of those are still "start able" .
Thats a cool looking old tractor.
The best thing about a two cylinder is that after being on one all day your ears don't ring when you lay down at night.
You obtained a very nice rust finish !! Looks perfect like that !
Really nice bit of film. Hope you guys are still enjoying this Bulldog.
Our Grandfathers knew how to build things!
true, and try to start a modern tractor after 70 years...
I guess that tractor came from my Dad. So good to see someone is enjoying it!!
Great video Peter! Really nice 15/30. Crude oil tractor rules!
Ya you are right it's 60years old so it's pretty exciting
What a wonderful old tractor!
Great job getting er to run again! Love to hear them run! Thanks for sharing, take care!
Very Nice Bulldog. Greetings from Germany☺
Good stuff... respect the old iron heritage.
It's not strictly a diesel engine but a semi-diesel requiring heating of its hot bowl before starting. It would have had steel wheels originally - rubber tractor tyres were not widely available till the mid-30's, so its wheels have been changed over to rubber tyres sometime in its working life, quite a common practice. Nice old tractor!
Why do you make such a short video of this beauty. I can just watch Captain Hauling it all day long with that Dug Dug Dug music(Engine).
This is interesting stuff, so I just had to subscribe to 'hopefully' see more of this!
Old is gold😊😊😊
Very cool machine
OLD is GOLD
What a sweet sound! Good for you. They are a neat tractor.
Amazing piece of machinery....!!
I like the sound of that engine!!!
😎Cool tracktor runs like a trucktor .sweet old musick.

The engine sounds very sweet regards from the UK
Beautiful rhythm
good Camera shooting with excellent end
Ah nice tractor with old german technic. I love that one
cylinder sound. ^^
Very cool Old iron!
That is a sweet ride. You should do a vid of you going from N.Y. to CA and back on that.
Old is gold
That's a nice and fine project
Tough old critter. Will benefit a lot come summer, from new/repaired air filter box. BUT, "hot bulb" is NOT "diesel", never was.
Very neat tractor.
sixtyfiveford feldmeister
great video. Thanks for the commentary.
He be rollen but he's not haten!
Those are very nice tractors I’d love to own one myself
That's beautiful ! 👍
Old is gold good tractor. Use it
That had to be fun!!!
Recuerdo mi padre tenia un PAMPA (Argentina)copia del LANZ (Alemania)aprendi a manejar en uno de ellos, saludos desde Argentina
Really neat old tractor. I'm curious, knowing nothing about these engines, do they have rings on the piston? If so where would you buy replacements?I would assume babbit bearings.
When you own a Lanz Bulldog: Roads, we don’t need roads! We have a Bulldog!
...bauer hoorst wir brauchen den allgaier !!.. wad wills du kalt eier ?! Ach mach wad de wisch....😂😂
tnk bro,,,
very nice machine.......sound...very nice
When I was really young some farmers still used them. Indestructible but a little dangerous. When they were pulling really hard and the engine revs fell really low the engine had a tendency to reverse direction and you suddenly went backwards. Not so slowly either!
Eine ďer besten deutschen wehrtarbeiten
Well it runs and drives I think it deserves some fresh paint
Nice sound - nice machine
What a beauty!
Nice it's like a bull dog laughing superb
It really started up that easily?! Thats insane. Or was that the power of television
Cool tractor
세월이 수십년이 지났어도 겉표면은 녹이 슬었어도 속은 멀쩡하다는게 신기하고 대단한 기술력 이란게 맞는 표현 일까요?
진정 자동차 선진국 이란게 맞는 말인가봐요. Good Job. 🤗
저는 1944년식 GMC를 운전하고 다닌답니다. 😚
Yup...what you said.
S. Korea🍒🍓🍅
E ka kahat have
Be quite north Korean
The ladies love to sit on it ... haha
(better is without bg-music)
Great old tractor!
I just love how people take really old stuff and say oh it hasn't run in 5,000 years if you believe that then you're stupid too. That thing was way to clean
Awesome! I really appreciated this vid.
Just goes to show you that back then they built stuff to last instead of the junk they make now.
Have an old tractor torn down at the shop. I like em.
Wow...fantástico, un motor de cabeza caliente. (a hot head engine)...saludos amigos, Greetings Friends
Fascinating machinery. The steering wheel and column were used to turn over the engine? Clever.
Und wenn das Frittenfett, Butter, Schnaps, Lebertran, Rohöl, Heizöl, Petroleum nicht alle ist, fährt er immer noch und ist im Ural angekommen... XD
Solidna Niemiecka maszyna .
Should play the theme song from Green Acres...HAHA!!.
10 litre 1 cylinder engine making 45 horsepower. very weird for today but still cool.
That’s rad.
Bounces like a V4 Ford! :)
I guess the neighbors know when ya fire up the ole tractor!.thats why ya git up so early on the farm! who could sleep in over that ole two stroke diesel! Lol.
IS THIS THE SAME ONE!? Night and day!
Awesome thanks for sharing such a nice vid.
I'm having tractor envy
Lovely 🐗 beast, nicest video 🎬
