I LOVE SARAH MILLICAN !!! I THINK SARAH IS SOOOOOOOOOOOO FUNNY. I really like the little stories, vignettes, that she tells. the grammatical terminology she uses is very British, but very funny. being American, i sometimes have to replay certain phrases to catch what is being said, but its still very funny !!!! i would love to see Sarah Millican perform live in person, but i seriously doubt she will ever come to east Tennessee !!! lol
She does cover quite a lot of the US when she tours. I recommend joining her mailing list so you get notified of her dates as they come up, as they sell quickly. She's wonderful live. I love that people around the world enjoy her work as much as we do here in the UK (I firmly believe she reached "national treasure" status years ago, and not many people achieve that). She gets away with outrageous material others might not, because it's wrapped up in such an endearing and warm personality, accent and turn of phrase. Despite her enormous success, she remains down to earth -one of us! and it's impossible to resent that success or to regard her as having become disconnected from the general public. I believe her when she says that she still pops into M&S or Tesco. I KNOW she gets excited about the simple things we do - like a new toastie she invented - I can't say that about many other successful celebs. There's an honesty and vulnerability to her material - you know so much of it is borne from real experiences and real thoughts - which is why there's so much that people identify with, and she makes laughter out of the real insecurities so many people share. There are few people who don't know what it's like to have body-image issues. She shares those deepest, darkest thoughts we have about ourselves and makes us laugh at them. The honesty in her material makes it clear that she has the same insecurities we have, but she turns it into something that just makes the world a better place to be.
I came across her videos on Facebook and was an instant fan. There is a joke she tells ans I can't remember which video it's in but she has to be cut out of a dress "in Monsoon" and not being from the U.K (being from Canada). I thought she was referring to a very intense rainy season, which I know they don't have monsoons in the U.K. so that took on a new comedic dimension for me, which was unintended by Sarah. I did a bit of research afterwards and found out Monsoon is a name of a boutique. It was still a funny bit but I'll always treasure that misunderstanding baaed on my cultural ignorance.
