    I’m only a few mins but just want to mention that I thrive when I have a routine. I appreciate the mundane. The mundane could be memorable if we’re intentional. It might be because my “love language” is quality time. I’m an introverted introvert but I enjoy purposeful, intentional conversation. I love to laugh. Not sure why I’m sharing this. Lol! Just throwing it out there.

    Hey Joe, I missed your face. Glad to see you posting more on this channel because I missed your talking videos. This was a good video. So many points were made. Late last year I incorporated reading for like 20 to 30 minutes each day into my routine and I’ve really been enjoying it. I found it easier to do when I set a specific time aside for it. I’ve never really journaled before but last week I decided to start. I’ve been trying to incorporate it before my prayer time before bed each night and I’ve definitely missed a few days lol. It feels like an extra unnecessary step to take because I’m used to just praying and talking to God about my day/thoughts/feelings but now I’m actually writing it down. If you want to do a video about journaling tips and practices, I’m here for it. I’ll take all the help I can get lol. I’m enjoying these longer podcast like talking videos. Good luck with those cold showers, I like my water set to hell lol. Also, this video is definitely giving Botanist Bishop, Monstera Minister and Plant Preacher lmao. Come through with your Succulent sermon.

    Jo, you spoke to my past week, I’ve been assessing my emotions regarding my life and work and discovered that I need a system. Life operates within systems; solar system, cardiovascular system…etc. I’m also challenged with looking for the next big thing and never appreciating the present moment. Thanks for relating the two.

    I love how connected the human experience is. I went searching for you today on IG of course and then I get on UA-cam and there you are! Love this video. I believe that the more people educate themselves on the physiological effects of mental health the more people will begin to change their behaviors in order to make an impactful change in their lives…every moment matters

    Watching your video made me think of neuroplasticity and dopamine. especially when you mentioned not having your phone in your bedroom which makes so much sense. Creating systems helps your brain "muscles" by not being so complacent and dull. "Neurons that wire together, fire together. Anyways, would love to hear more about the night time routine, any books you are reading currently while creating this system. I prefer the long format videos, personally. Thank you for giving us content!

      @flightsfeelings  9 місяців тому +2

      absolutely! the brain is very plastic. much more malleable and adaptable than we often give it credit for. systems can literally change your brain, and im experiencing that. thanks for the suggestions. i'll consider for the next vids.

    I'm proud of you Joe. Under the video info you wrote you want to present those thoughts to others in a way that makes their existence more understandable and worthwhile, you excel at it and I am grateful for those kind of videos, be proud of yourself ethical dictator. Also, love the mondaine and plant analogies and I fully agree. At 1st I thought you said Monday instead of mondaine which even if you did it'd still have the same meaning in this analogy. I been livin this way too my whole life til not long ago, after I started workin on myself. I used to wait for the cool and good moments to happen so that I could "recharge". What most ppl have bought the lie to is that the recharging days are just temporary lies. Now, I aint sayin not to go places and look forward to happy settled moments/events, there is one thing that would help us more in keeping our batteries charged, and that's by gettin comfy during "diabolical Mondays" in life. This 'comfy' comes by being present and in harmony with ourselves by analyzing and processing our own thoughts and feelings that are built up subconsciously and consciously and co-operating with them if not daily, then at least more often, instead of constantly runnin away from those unprocessed thoughts/feelings/disorders/mental and/or phisical pain that will have a person eventually burnt out and will require a longer time of recovery in comparison if they only would've just been listening to their own spirit, mind and body needs before. That's where true happiness and recharge come from. Harmony and wisdom in the midst of chaos

    When I say this video came right on time in my recommendations notifications & hits deep for me brother I mean everything from the plant analogy to needing the right systems in place to even fixing the bed every morning which was honestly already a habit for me up until a couple days ago & even though I’m getting into more of the things I truly love & God is so amazing maybe my low mood(s.a.d) snuck up on me for a couple reasons & it’s been freezing here to me lol I might need to move to Florida or the West Coast but ima shake it off & get back into some routines bc God wants to see me making my bed again every morning & eating my oatmeal 🤣😂
    Oh my gosh it’s so funny to me that since I’m vegan & went on a little fast this month my coworker LITERALLY tells me to at least eat OATMEAL she even brought some to work for me so I just say all this to say thank you for being obedient to the spirit of God whether you know it or not it was honestly something I needed to hear, advice, confirmation, not being so hard on myself, a reminder to take it one day at at time & enjoy the simple tings get back into routine & do even better this year 🙏🏽 long I find myself ranting sometimes but thanks again

    how long does your morning routine take? i’ve been trying to maintain a regular, morning routine, but I feel like sometimes it dips too long into my day. I appreciate you sharing this part of your life. This is helpful on so many levels. Thank you, Joe!

    • @flightsfeelings
      @flightsfeelings  9 місяців тому +2

      when i’m moving efficiently, it takes like 3/3.5 hours. HOWEVER, that’s because my workouts have been like 2 hours. and also, i slowly grew the routine to take this long. i’m a huge proponent of no shame in starting extremely small. like almost laughably small so that it’s so extremely easy to do. and then slowly build on it. if you start with a routine that takes only 20-30 minutes then it doesn’t feel as overwhelming at first. and as you slowly grow it you can gauge how much it will affect the rest of your day. i know that at some point soon i will have to shorten my routine. once i hit some key fitness/weight goals, i will cut down on my gym time to just maintain my levels.

    “The Shores” is exactly what these videos feel like. Something about you talking us through your life post-religion is very comforting, for someone who’s doing the same.
    I’ve been paying more attention to “protecting my mornings” recently and this has been a big boost of motivation to stick to that. Small steps.
    And doing a PhD definitely isn’t an excuse - makes it even more important 😅
    PS do you do meet-ups? Traveling to LA next week so I was just curious!

    I love how you broke down the importance of communicating with your parents consistently, and how the relationship shifts as you become an adult! I moved away from my hometown a year ago and try to talk to my mom once a week. I feel like we’ve never been closer! It’s such a blessing that you still have both parents in your life and can maintain a healthy rapport. 🤍🤍

    Ok so this is the morning after watching this video. I also made it my own when taking notes and it’s a little after 4 pm and I’m just now taking a sit down. I feel energized even though I’ve been physically active all day. I love oatmeal might I add and like to switch out with grits or parfait. I completed all my task and did this without alcohol or any substances while giving myself positive affirmations in my mind. It was the smallest fix with the largest affect wild enough and the best part is I’m done I’m happy with plenty of time left to chill and be proud of myself. I’m here, present and excited about self growth and purification of my body.
    You’re a pretty cool guy Joe, it works!
