- Though Adam Lambert and Kris Allen were polar opposites (musically, as artists, background, personality, lifestyle, etc), they bonded and formed an easy friendship during Season 8. Even though they were in a highly competitive situation, that was not the case in their relationship with each other when they became roommates. The media speculated and insinuated that they were not getting along just to create drama enough to bring more traffic and viewers to their stories. So what made this season special was their unexpected friendship that inspired others that you can still love each other despite differences. The reason I put any of these video clips together is so people can see this for themselves, and hopefully diminish the notion that they were ever against each other. Oh, my God, seriously Kris, that surprise hug for Adam and then Adam, shaking him, and the whispering. Most adorable Final 2 ever. Season 8 in general had some amazing performances, but the camaraderie of the contestants, the epicness of Megan Joy and the cawing, the villainy of Danny after Allison got shafted from Top 3, Kris carrying the torch of the fallen cannon fodder to win in spite of producer manipulation, Adam and Kris proving that homosexuality and religion can meet together and mesh wonderfully. SO PERFECT. I will always adore this season.

One of the things I have always loved about their friendship is that they are both so different from each other, and yet they still managed to see past that and become genuine best friends.

It's amazing how close they got.. but not surprising. These people are competing but they're also forming strong friendships and close bonds because of what they go through together.. plus they live together! If Adam would have won he wouldn't have been able to do things his way for his first album and he wouldn't have been happy. It worked out great for both of them! They're both amazing artists :)

Thank you for putting this together. Believe it or not, I have never seen one episode of Idol. Just not my thang. But I had heard about Adam Lambert and recently listened to him singing, "Whattaya Want From Me?" and I loved it! I had also heard the the guy who won Idol said that Adam deserved it, so I was curious and looked it up on YT. It's very cool that they became such good friends. They are obviously very comfortable with each other and seem sincere in their admiration for the other's talent. Entertainment media is always looking to stir up some controversy that isn't there. Some TV shows are little more than the video version of the National Enquirer.
I think a whole lot of people were shocked.
It would be nice if Adam would collab w Kris, now that he's so much more successful.

Thank you for making this video! I've noticed we as fans have a tendency to pit people against one another in our minds who are actually friends - Meryl and Violet during Oscar season, for another example. I was new to AI this year and when I saw the rivalry of Kris and Adam fans I swore I wouldn't fall into that trap. (And I admit I failed on that account after this year's finale didn't go my way. My bad.)
As an Adam (and Kradam) fan who thought Kris was incredibly talented as well, I have to say that the rivalry between their fans was awful, and it still rears its ugly head sometimes to this day. I could never understand why so many Adam fans blamed Kris for winning when it was our fault for not getting Adam enough votes to win.
