Jeep XJ Fuel Pump Assembly - Fixing a Hard Start When Cold Situation

I've had this hard start issue since I bought this XJ seven years ago, so I figured I'd get on it and fix it. It didn't go as planned.

My ‘99 GMC Sierra does the same thing starting ‘sometimes’ after sitting all night, but, at other times after sitting it starts right up the first time. Like yours also after driving it for a while starts first time every time after that…maybe the old girl needs a new fuel pump as well, but, I’m not going to the expense of replacing it, as, I’m hoping real soon I’ll be buying the 2024 GMC HD 4WD 6.6 LITRE DURAMAX AT-4 CREW CAB. After 12 years I just pray it starts at all. She’s definitely been a good truck all this time for only a $5,000 investment. ~Jim~

if it's only the check valve; you could save time and money; by placing.an external check valve at the back of the tank for about 4 bucks; I would try that first before dropping the tank. they want $700 at the shops. Takes only about an hour.
