    I commissioned my Sol-Ark 15K this weekend and have to agree, their support is amazing. I just had a simple problem due to me being impatient/not knowing the product well, but they had me going in about 5 minutes. Our current setup has no grid sell (interconnection agreement pending), so we are in limit to load mode but it is awesome generating power on your own.

      As far as cells go, I don't really find much concern if you pick a brand with a good reputation. The BMS could crap out, etc, but in terms of battery chemistry this isn't new tech.

    We're doing an off-grid installation with 6 of these units and a S-A 12k. Planning to use their indoor enclosed cabinet. I like what you did with paralleling pairs and using 3 equal home-runs to a busbar. I felt like those factory cables are undersized to run 9,000W continuous (in my case). I like using 4/0 for off-grid since it's going to get worked every day. It's a small investment with years of efficiency in mind. I'm hoping to learn more about their cabinet. The website doesn't offer much guidance on it. I'll probably just have to stay tuned for your video on it.

    A couple of questions.
    On the batteries, the connectors look rather small for the amount of amps the system can do.

    @Engineer775 - I admit, I like the look of the Pytes batteries, but I do NOT like their enclosure options at all. I get why you may like the easy stack system, but for me having all that wiring in the open is a hard stop NO. 6 year olds like to pull on on things, like wires.
    I would insist on a lockable, practical, and cost -to- value rack solution. The Pytes enclosure rack solutions are far too expensive for what you get. I install high end rack systems for enterprise; some with cooling, some without, anywhere from single 2U to multiple large 3U UPSs, with 1U and 2U servers, etc. The Pytes battery racks are more expensive than even a large 48U industrial server rack compared to getting 3 rack units for 6 batteries? umm, no. Just look at APC, Schneider, EATON, Panduit, etc../rack grumble off
    I do wonder if they'd fit in an EG4 Rack? Don't have to use the buss bar with these... HHHHMMMMMmmmmmm

    What does time of use mean?

    • @balrog006
      @balrog006 Рік тому +1

      It’s a programming option in the inverter software where you can select days of the year, days of the week and times of day where you want to lessen or avoid drawing power from the grid-usually due to increased utility kWh/cost during a time period of the day. Lets you charge up the batteries before or after that time and then use them and not draw from the grid during those peak charge times of day.

      They are $2,000 each, so that stack of 6 would run you $12,000 plus tax and shipping. With the Sol-Ark, panels, cabling, etc. you're looking at a $50k+ system. Going off-grid is a rich man's game.

    • @bubba1984
      @bubba1984 Рік тому +1

      @@frenchopotamus Thank you for the reality check; I too have been amazed by how the hype obscures true TCO, granted it's not all coming out-of-pocket but just a hard question if I may: you can't even run 2 ton mini-split on such spec yes? For an 8-hours/day 2 ton AC run; off-grid what would be the required spec and system cost, in your opinion?

    • @frenchopotamus
      @frenchopotamus Рік тому

      @@bubba1984 I'm no expert, but there's a lot that goes into deciding how big a system you need for a given load, esp. AC vs. DC loads. You need to figure out load power usage, find an inverter that can supply the amperage, and handle the huge motor start current draws for non-inverter heat pumps, decide how much battery reserve you need for bad weather days, how much solar/wind/hydro you might need, etc. There are some decent online solar system calculators that help you determine what specs you need.

    Engineer775 - Would the harsh inspector in your area consider the 200A bypass as the grid disconnect with fused terminals?
    Are the Pytes home run cables long enough to make it back to the Sol-Ark placed near the inverter and skipping the gutter?
    That would make a really quick minimum viable grid-tie with the 15K + 4 Pytes.
    You would have to program the inverter down to 200A / 10kW backup to stay within Pytes capability of the 48100 series.

  • @CRsolar

    Is this one listed on CA energy commision? Can you get interconnetion aggreement on it.?
    Guess you dont worry about this in your area or they maybe not using this as a qualification for interconnect to grid?
    I alsp worry some hacker could crash the grid with all these , china direct equipment or any other equipment . The usa needs to make sure and backword engineer anything that will connect to the grid.. and i believe any thing connected to grid needs to be isolated from internet. I know this will upset a few people. pirates i am afraid will be fined when the utility sees you dont have an interconnection and yearly inspection. Dang this sucks.. i see this coming.
