Its becoming worrisome that new generation universities in Nigeria are now built looking like event centres, hotels and religious building, always painted yellow, red and brown. There is no comparison with first generation universities in my books

Universities are like cities. It does not take one year, two, 20, or more years to fully build a university. Developing a university to its full status takes years. How many universities do Ghana have and how big are they? Universities in Nigeria are massive in size. Why did the critics not go to the University of Lagos; University of Ibadan; Obafemi Awolowo University, even Yaba College of Technology, and some other older tertiary institutions and see how Nigerian universities are built? Even some private varsities are not left behind. Let them know that the permanent site of the University of Uyo is a new site that just sprang out of the Town Campus of the university.

Peolpe will say it's a good-looking campus. I agree, by our standards; but most of the buildings look like your average private residential/commercial realty, typical of Nigerian universities.
