Love that red cat is stepping up their game than one of the best RC's for the price I don't think you could ask for much better for I'm probably going to pick one up after watching these videos
I'm liking this RC. It seems to handle pretty dang well for being stock. Different tires pinion turn the punch up and that thing is going to be a ripper!!!! I'd love to see if it can hang with the Kraton etc on the track in a actual race 🤔 Looks like it can!?!?!
I can't wait to see what people start doing with this I think with a little bit of aftermarket support this thing will be a real weapon. I really like the upper arm design and the side guards to the chassis the fact that they run all the way back. I think Red Cat has a real contender here

I can’t believe they put 1/10 scale electronics in the 4s and 1/8 scale in the 6s.. it’s a freaking 1/6 scale rc. I just order one and order the max 6 esc with the 4278 2250kv motor. Soon as I bought I ordered it
I know that there's no aftermarket availability for the rc yet, but I want one SOOO bad. It's just different and cool 🤷♂️ My biggest question is if the machete would handle the Max8 g2 combo or not. There's not a single video on what this thing can handle. How good are the stock parts and how much power can they handle. These are the "need to know" things that people need to see to have some faith in this car. After that, I really think the machete can take off and get some aftermarket attention.
So I'm still really new to the hobby but I've got this machete 6S and no matter what I do with the shocks it seems like they never actually spring back up the way they should I've tried silicone oil for the shocks I've even tried 80 weight differential oil trying to get a more solid spring rate out of them and I can't I want to do heavier springs but I don't know what size springs to order to replace them. Would you have any idea where I could go to get some heavier duty springs that are the right size would you know what size they are I mean I used some calipers to measure them it looks like there's a 26 mm outside diameter and compressed on the shock they're 50 mm so I imagine they're probably 80 mm off just a guess but any help would be greatly appreciated in
Great video!! I like Redcat overall. It is a budget brand but offers good value I feel. This Machete looks like alot of fun for informal racing, field and parking lots..definitely doesn't appear to be aimed at the basher market IMO. Sure looked well suited for your track though. Better tires for loose terrain and I think it'll be great. As to folks talking about bigger motors, I don't see that working out here. Redcats drivetrain is pretty minimal. Maybe a slight bump will be okay but that's about it. I find that to be the case with most rc's though.. Arrma, TRX..sure, you can drop a 4985 in it, and start stocking up on diffs and driveshafts cuz they eat em with bigger motors😂😂
Joe I’d like to see some concrete ramp tests with the proline Baja pro X predators, one on stock foams and one with antifoams. then you can try different tuning rod configurations and test those vs empty antifoams? 🤔 I was thinking a layer of rods all the way around the outside of the tire to support the lugs might be good idea, like a reverse dual stage, since the anti foam takes care of sideroll on its own. That should help with lugs falling over but still allow conformity
People shouldn't sleep on Redcat,they were learning when they started but i gotta say they get better everytime.Since the Kaiju they have been putting out good rigs.just my opinion though.
Must be nice, still waiting on my updated parts. Only 2 issues with this platform and that is very limited space for any upgraded motors and a real terrible diff design.
@@ExocagedRC Yeah I have it all tore down as the diffs were extremely difficult to turn by hand out of the box. Can not see any issue and the diff unit spins freely when out of the vehicle but bolted in does not. Guess the bulkheads are the issue, time to break out the dremel. Once I can get the diffs to spin freely and with the 1515 2200kv Castle installed it should rip with a 19t pinion. Oh the stock motor has an extremely long shaft so any aftermarket motor will need long shank pinion like from Tekno and 19t is the largest that will fit in stock trim, 20t pinion is just a tad tight for gear mesh.
Seems good to me but it needs 6S. Keep in mind the center diff is very loose and as I haven’t thickened it up yet so the soft start is the result of that.

I don't know what you're basing this off of. And sorry if I sound a little upset but I get really mad when everybody rips on Red cat when they probably never really looked at just how good the engineering is on the lot of their vehicles they just had bad luck with their plastics. Take a look at the wendigo axles probably one of the strongest crawler axles out there. That's a redcat. Redcat racing isn't as crappy as everybody makes it seem there are lots of people that own red cats and they're very happy with them. There are also lots of people that have had bad luck with red cat. But I got news for you every brand has some vehicles that just aren't that good it doesn't mean the whole brand is crap. I think this is a really awesome vehicle and I think it's a really good alternative to a lot of the other choices out there. But hey that's just my opinion just don't be so quick to bash on something just because you heard other people say bad things about it. I don't know maybe I'm being a little harsh but try to have more of an open mind about different brands cuz it really opens up the chance for you to find something really cool and different.

Just stating facts, redcat has maybe a few cars that are worth buying if you're a serious basher, the rest are cheap and that's ok if someone doesn't have much to spend or maybe as a first RC for a kid, the redcat gen 8 crawler is solid, the kaiju is ok, and as I mentioned before the rampage, the stuff like the volcano or lighting and those types are pure trash compared to any major brand, traxxas, losi, arrma, and corally copied but actually made a solid RC that didn't need to be recalled as soon as it was released, but at the price point of most of the redcats new you can come up on a used traxxas or arrma and have something much better with better stock and aftermarket parts support either online or in hobby shops, I always say run what you like or can afford I'll never judge someone as I buy all my RCs used since I don't want to spend what most cost new, I've been in the hobby for many years now and I've owned dirt cheap brands even lower than red cat and owned some of the nicest that can be bought and as with all things in life you typically get what you pay for

very different vehicles, I'd say on a track this has potential to be faster, not sure if its as durable, time will tell that.
The motor seems a bit slow for 6s. That is one of my biggest gripes from what I am seeing.

😮most people got the updated parts shipped out on the 31st from my understanding. I got 2 sets on the way to me.
