What are the differences between Canadian English and English from the US?
Only some words and different pronunciation
2:25 Even in Spanish we use this phrase with the literal translation: "tiene un tornillo flojo" to refer that someone's crazy, nothing related to intelligence.
De dónde sos? Nunca escuché a alguien diciendo eso xd
@@mozanapon Colombia, e incluso aquí decimos es "se le safó un tornillo"
@@Isa_Dark_ este ultimo si me es familiar
Absolutely loooove the bangs, Liza ❤
Thanks!
Same as in Spanish "tiene un tornillo suelto" means that person is insane. Also, "potable water" is common sense and easy to understand.
Good job!🔥
Hello Kevin and Lisa! I have a confusion with pronounce and meaning thise two phrase: 'full of yourself' and 'fool of yourself'. Please if you don't mind to make the lesson about it. Thank you!
Full of yourself" and "fool of yourself" are phrases that sound similar but have different meanings:
"Full of yourself": This phrase typically means being excessively self-centered, arrogant, or conceited. It implies that someone has an inflated sense of their own importance or abilities.
"Fool of yourself": This phrase suggests that someone has made a foolish or embarrassing mistake, often in front of others. It implies acting in a way that brings about ridicule or judgment from others due to foolish behavior or decisions.
In summary, "full of yourself" relates to a person's attitude or demeanor, while "fool of yourself" pertains to specific actions or behavior resulting in embarrassment or ridicule.
Examples:
1. "He's always bragging about his accomplishments and never listens to others' opinions; he's so full of himself."
2. "After attempting to impress everyone with his amateur magic tricks at the party, he realized he had made a fool of himself."
@@lordnikon6809thank you guy! I'am very glad for ditailed answer!
Note the difference between "full" [fʊl] and "fool" [fuːl] . The sounds differ in both length and placement.
Fool is pronounce like pool (I mean the vocal sound of course) if you listen to people saying that word, you will notice the sound is kind of longer and adding the L
The part about flatware is the most funniest.
The most funniest, first this is not correct.
Thanks for real life language for real life communication 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
Off her/his rocker: nyeleneh
He's got a few screws loose: kabelnya banyak yang putus
I unfollowed her! But question is, she is Canadian and she says says” She is studying English Language and Literature.” Why she is not sure about some simple words or expressions?
I’ve got a feeling that the clips from the other channel were edited out of context.🤔
So there are same meaning He is got a few screws loose and he is off of his rocker
-"I'm not off my rocker to drink it; don't you see that it's potable water?"
-"As for me, you have a few screws loose if you give the benefit of the doubt to him."
-"All of these have a potential screw loose."
They are embarassing themselves
I appreciate your content, but please, don't keep on repeting some videos. You guys have a lot to teach us. Create something original, new and interesting like you used to do.
agree... pls just post a new fresh content..
I don't understand this. How can a native speaker make this mistake. In my country we speak two languages. I didn't need to be explained the meaning of any expression because I immediately undertood it by the context, the situation when I was a child. It is just a matter of exposure. How is this even possible with a PHD.
I agree with that comment 100%, you're simply right, It can't be possible that a native speaker makes that kind of mistakes. I can understand that a native speaker is a human being too and can make mistakes but not that kind of mistakes.
It seems to me that she is not reading enough and is unaware of the dimension of teaching a language. I believe that if a person wants to become a teacher, she or he needs to accumulate a lot of knowledge of different subjects. In her case, it is pretty clear that she is not a well-read person.
For me, to say “plastic silverware” sounds just odd - is it plastic? Or is it silver? I only use the word if I’m referring to actual silver or metal cutlery. Even “cutlery” sounds somewhat formal to me or at least it implies a whole set of a chef’s arsenal of tools. For me utensils and flatware are the most normal terms.
Thank you I just unfollowed her.
Who’s she?
@@David_13887 she's a UA-camr who makes videos for english learners.
It seems to me that you don't have to... You could use the content to improve your ability to evaluate the mistakes.
Who cares? Lol
Sorry, but your people don't know their own language. It's probably because you don't learn English at school from a linguistic point of view or you don't read a literature enough. There is something important missed in a school curriculum.
The girl who made these mistakes is Canadian, and the teacher correcting her is Ukranian. What are you saying? What do you mean by "your people"? Most native English speakers know their own language.
It looks like some canadians have got a few screws loose 😄
