Real gardeners make mistakes! I love your honesty which shows me I can trust you! Sharing our mistakes helps others and teaches us new ways! I adore your color and plant selections!
Linda your message is just as encouraging to me too! We’re all just muddling along and helping out each other! What a great community we have, thank you 💚🩷
Never mind Janette, it’s a comfort to some of us that not everything goes right all the time for other people too. It’s a constant learning process in gardening. Thank you for sharing the good and not so good - continue being real 😊
Thanks so much Pamela, it’s always fun whatever we do in gardening, and a friend said below, the failures make the successes seem sweeter which I think is a wonderful way to look at it. Hope you have a fabulous week 🩷💚
Their are always people trying to bring decent channels down,,, had it myself ... and although sometimes its disheartening you have to remind yourself 99.9% of the people watching your content enjoy it...so you just have to forget the haters 😀
Good morning Ade - just been chatting to Debs 😊 yes, I think you’re right. There are people who do enjoy pressing that button 😂 I bet they go round complaining all day too 😂 I am so lucky though because I have wonderful encouraging garden friends on here and have so many lovely chats with everyone each week. I don’t know about other UA-cam channel topics but gardeners are definitely very chilled out and full of well-being. Have a great week. Any cruises booked? 💚
We have booked another! We are going on Cunard’s new Queen Anne later this year to the Fjords for a week. We haven’t cruised since Feb ‘22 so we are so excited about that 💚
Hi Jeanette, Your garden could be just perfect for a little wild life pond. You have so much choice for the pollinators to feed on, I'm sure they would love a drink or swim too. Lovely lady, Lovely garden x
Hello there Vivienne and thank you 💚 I don’t know where I could fit a pond! I think I’ve exhausted every spare space 😂 but it would be nice to attract extra pollinators etc, and even get a couple of frogs to deal with all my slugs 😂 hope you’re having a lovely week 💜💚
You popped up on my UA-cam feed today, don't be disappointed, gardening is a learning process, i pot my geraniums up and leave in a cold greenhouse, they mostly survive 😊 to be honest all gardeners have failures, they just don't publish it,your garden is lovely be encouraged 😊x
Hello there Esther and thanks for joining me today! Great to have a new gardening friend. I think I must be the only person this hasn’t worked for, but to be honest it has saved me from a day having to pot them all up 😂 glad to hear you have success though 👍 hope you have a great week 💚🩷
Hi Janette, you are forgiven...lol It was brave for you to admit your disaster to the world...but mistakes are part and parcel of learning. Now ...I need you to forgive me, I didn't watch all your four Easter videos....long boring story, pass. On and up ...your garden looks good ready for spring. My garden is looking ok, my rockery is really colourful, daff and tulips have almost gone but a great show. Now, as my spring bulbs show was so so good, I bought 300 summer bulbs from B & Q online only for £ 13.99! Bargain I hope? Cheers and keep well YEITN Steve
Hi Steve, and yes you are totally forgiven for not watching 😂 and oh yes 300 bulbs for that price, a true bargain! My tulips and daffs are still hanging on but it’s been so windy they have had a battering! Thank you as always for your update from the North and have a fabulous week 💚🩷
Hi Jeanette, I love your honesty. Sorry your geraniums didn't survive but I take comfort from knowing that it's ok to experiment in the garden and sometimes we don't get it right. Thank you for your friendly presentation as you share your gardening with us week by week. wishing you and Richard all the very best. Gx
Hi Janette … the garden is always trial and error … I put bubble wrap in my little greenhouse and put my geranium’s in there and some osteospermums and they all died … no problem though I will just buy more . Not sure why the odd few people have to put a dislike to your videos … I love them as do a majority so keep being you and doing what makes you happy ❤xx .. hope Rich is behaving 😅 xx
Hello there Gill, oh yes it’s all trial and error isn’t it? And you’re right, we can always buy new ones 😂 yes Rich is behaving himself for the most part 😂 thanks for being a great support and hope you have a fabulous week 🩷💚
Trolls who don't enjoy your content should just move on. I love seeing your garden and want to continue to do so! Sending you positive vibes and encouragement!🤩
Sorry that the plants didn't work out Janette but at least you had a go. Gardening has its challenges and not everything is a success. Thanks for your honesty. I love your channel and feel like I've made lots of new UA-cam gardening friends who are always on hand to give advice. Hope you survived storm Kathleen over the weekend. My Tulips took a battering but everyone was safe which is the main thing. Take care and have a great week.
Hello there Wendy and yes, gardening is a challenge (not to mention hard work) but keeps us fit and it’s a lot of fun. Oh my goodness we had such winds this weekend but all good here. Have a great week 🩷💚
Morning Janette, two people in over 8000 who cares about them, we love your decent honest garden videos. All that work on the Geraniums, so sad for you. Not failures, but experiments. Even the top gardeners have experiments that didn't work out, so don't beat yourself up. My large tubs of bulbs were more leaf than flower this year. Already chucking them 😂. Your garden looks lovely, my plants are taking swimming lessons 🤭. Have a great week in the garden and plant shopping 🪴🪴🪴🌷🌷🌷🧑🌾
Morning Penny and no, I don’t care about the 👎 at all 😊 I think I’m going to dig up all my daffodils once they’ve finished this year and divide and replant them again in Autumn as many have come up blind plus they are all in a bunch along one area, so I’ll think about that. I’m glad I can just go out and buy new pelargoniums this year - much less effort 😂 are you waterlogged there? Everything will survive though, I saw pictures of Monty Don’s garden deep in water and it looked absolutely fine again in Gardeners World. Hope you have a lovely week 💚
I hope you don't wipe it off. It's good to experiment, it's great that you tried, that's the fun of gardening it's not about buying and planting. It could have worked 🤷♀️. No need to be ashamed, Jeanette. We love you because you have a go. I took my geraniums out last week. I don't make the slightest effort, I just put them in their pots into my shed and forget about them. I lost a couple the others seem OK. Same with dahlias I lost some but not all. Nasty people giving you thumbs down, shame on them 😮. Many thanks for sharing, you are a breath of fresh air ❤😊
Aww Kim thank you. I don’t want anyone copying something I did that didn’t work for me, although it works for you! And I watched so many videos on what to do before I gave it a go. But never mind, I will have an easier day this Autumn without all that extra work 😂 oh and I really don’t care about the 👎 I just thought I’d mention as it actually makes me smile they take the trouble to watch in the first place 😂 have a really lovely week 💚
I love your garden! Don’t let those bad people bother you because we love you! It’s wonderful to see how advanced your garden is. Your new willow is so pretty, I’m glad you showed us the label from the plant. My husband says, tell that girl I like her and the garden is really spectacular. Tell your husband my husband was a plumber too. I hope Richard is feeling much better. My geranium, I turned into a standard is doing well. I brought one straight branch into the house for the winter, it kept on growing plus I got clippings. It’s huge now. I did the same with the fuchsia. I have to admit I can’t wait to get all the plants outside, and I agree, less work to just buy them grown. Thanks for your videos, we love watching you! It’s too bad, all the work you did to store the plants, very disappointing for you I’m sure.
Hello Nancy and thank you for your lovely comments, and from your husband too! We certainly have lots in common with our plumber husbands and our love for gardening 😊 I don’t let the negative people bother me, I’m just glad I don’t like my life going round complaining like they must do 🩷 I am impressed with the sound of your standards, what a good idea. Rich is doing really well, thank you! Have a wonderful week 🩷💚
I remember that video Janette shame its failed, but at least you can move on and learn from it. Never understand why some would feel the need to be so negative. I suppose that's life, block them. My mum always says "if you cant say any thing nice, don't bother saying anything at all" Love your channel and video's so nice you are back on the scene. Thank you for sharing, bfn. 🐞🌻🌱
Jane you have been binge watching my videos it looks like 😂 so thank you. Love your Mum’s saying and very true. Thanks for all your lovely comments which I’m reading before I go to work this morning 😊💚🩷
Unfortunately some people have never learned to be happy enough to let others be happy and are negative or toxic because it's all the know. I agree, it's best to send them on their way as you have, hopefully they find what they need to be happier but not at your expense! As far as the pelargonium, gardening has ever been a case of experimenting to see what works since he first gardener set trowel to turf. I failed miserably in keeping some of my dahlia overwintered last year. (I'm in Melbourne Aus, so we're into autumn now.) In this case learning you prefer buying new ones more than trying to overwinter them means a day out shopping for new plants which would be a success in my book... any excuse to go to the garden centre! 😉
Hello! I do agree with your philosophies 🩷 especially having a day out at the garden centre is far more fun than bagging up old pelargoniums 😂 so lovely to chat to you all the way in Melbourne 💚 wishing you a wonderful week 💚🩷
Oh thank you dear Snappy, there is one in every crowd isn’t there?! But no, I’m not bothered, hope they have a good day (they probably won’t 😊). Thanks so much for always watching and have a fabulous day 🩷💚
Hi Janette. I love all the changes n additions u have made in ur garden! We r all learning what works n what doesn’t! I really like how soothing ur lighting system is in the evening. It looks so peaceful! ♥️
I’m sorry but you have made me smile this Monday morning. I wondered why you hadn’t mentioned the geraniums. Sometimes life is too short. Have a good week!!!!
😂😂 Jane, I wanted to dump them all and forget it, but Tracey kept reminding me! 😂 yes, life is too short for me to have to spend another whole day digging up geraniums and stapling them into paper bags 😂 I’m buying new ones from now on!! Have a wonderful week 💚
The garden is looking wonderful with everything coming on. I love seeing the unfurling fronds this time of year. Thank you for the proper look at the Kandinsky. Not one I am familiar with but typical of his paintings. Richard has great taste. After seeing your Alliums last year, I bought a couple from the “end of season sale box” at my local garden centre. One has a large bud developing nicely. On our way up to Lincolnshire last year - for my 70th birthday present - a taxi ride in the Lancaster - we stopped off at Audley End and they were giving away bunches of their finished Tulips. They are now open for me, pale yellow in bud but opening peach. I planted then VERY deeply so they should get better year on year.
Good morning to you Mark! I’m excited that you have some alliums, they’re going to look gorgeous and great luck with getting the Audley End tulips 🌷 how fabulous. Aren’t the little fern fronds delightful? I love them. I’m going to send you a separate DM about the picture 😊 and what I’ve been up to with all the plants you so generously gifted to me 😊 wishing you a wonderful day 💚
Morning from Canada Janette, your poor geraniums, but that's gardening, success and failures lol. I follow a few garden vlogs, but yours is the one I look forward to most, your garden is beautiful and colourful and your personality shines through each time. Take care.
Iris, you are lovely for saying that, I am very touched 🩷 I don’t care about my geraniums after getting comments like that! 💚💚 wishing you a marvellous week 🩷💚
Thank you, Janette, for being brave and authentic enough to show those garden projects that don’t always turn out successfully. If one gardens long enough, there will be failures. Your garden is so beautiful, clearly the successes far outweigh any failures. Those pelargoniums were so striking, I searched for the seeds to start some but could only find plants so I ordered 1 and hope to propagate some to have a nice little bed of them - all because of you! I’ll keep you posted. ♥️ 🌷🪻💐
JC I can always rely on you for lovely comments and encouragement! I haven’t been able to find similar pelargonium seeds either, but I hope you have success with your propagation of yours. I’ll just buy some new ones this year 😂 have a really great week 🩷💚
Oh that’s so kind of you, I was pretty worn out from all that gardening last weekend I must confess 😂 have a lovely week and thanks for always watching 🩷💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener I bet so. Hopefully you’re rested up for the week. You’re so welcome. I wouldn’t miss them☺️ the eclipse is today so I plan to be out for that and then plant seeds. 🌱
Janette, how can anyone say a bad thing about your channel? Like you mention time and again, you are a home gardener like the rest of us, who wants to share your beautiful garden experiences with us on UA-cam. I’m so glad that you are too🥰🌿. You and Richard are the sweetest people and to leave negative comments and thumbs down in videos is so uncool. Continue to be you, ❤ you and your gardening tips and tricks and will continue to encourage us in our gardens.Sorry about the geraniums, you tried and that’s all that matters in the end🫶. The tulips 🌷🤩. Have to look for my eclipse glasses now and hopefully can catch a glimpse👌wish me luck!
Ooh I hope you got to see the eclipse! We couldn’t see it over here and apparantly next time it’s going to be our way is September 2090 so I doubt I’ll see it then either 😂 thanks for your lovely comments, you mean a lot 🩷 have a wonderful week 💚🩷
😎yes, it was a sight to behold🌗🌝🌚, definitely cool to experience even though it was a bit cloudy in manhattan today.2090, oh geez, safe to say we will all miss that one😂😂. Have a great week as well🫶
Loving how you keep it real Jeanette. Makes me feel so much more confident when the odd try does not work out. You’re the real deal. Your garden is looking so lovely. Thanks for all you do. 🌹
You’ve just reminded me about mine ,will get them out today 🙈love your garden great colour ,it’s your garden do what you like ,would not be interesting if we all did same that’s why we watch others to get ideas and see what they’re doing ,I love watching you and others 💕💕
Hello Joyce, do let me know how yours go! I’d love to know because I spent ages watching other people do this before I gave it a go, and it worked for them! For me though, I’m buying new ones every year from now on 😂 have a lovely week 💚
Hi Janette! That’s a shame after all your hard work but nothing ventured nothing gained! Linda Vater would probably say - A garden risk worth taking!! 😃 Your garden is looking lovely as always with lots of new life bursting through! 🌹 Happy gardening! 🌺🪴🌸🌳
Hi Fiona and yes, that’s exactly what Linda would say! I must tell you I watched her Back Yard Reveal video earlier today and oh my goodness she has done an amazing job, I absolutely love it so much. Thanks for watching and have a great week 💚🩷
I'm from England now living in the US and I watch lots of gardening shows from England to get my little piece of home. You're in England watching Linda Vater in the US and I watch her too! The world is now a much smaller place with the internet. Her back garden is so nice, isn't it?
Geraniums are very hard to winter over. It is ok things happen and it was so interesting to try to see if they can survive this way over winter. I have only had them survive in small clay pots in my garage over winter a couple of times. Now I just go purchase geranium starts at this time of year. I love to see the evolution of your garden over the winter, and now to see it blossomed out for Spring. Thank you for reminding me to do my ferns. Everything looks beautiful. Do not let the downer person get you down you do wonderfully! 🙂
Hello there and thanks for watching and being so encouraging. I guess it was worth a try but I’m going to be like you from now on and just buy new plants 😂 far easier and more fun 🩷 I definitely won’t let the downer person get me down 😊 hope you’re having a great week 💚
I think we learn the most when we try out new things. Thank you for sharing your pellie experiment with us and thank you for such a warm, spring-affirming video.
Hello dear Rachel and thank you 🩷 and you’re so right! Always something to learn about gardening isn’t there? Hope you’re having a great Spring so far in beautiful Douentza Garden 💚🩷
Hi Janette, First of all, I can't see the point in people keep watching videos if all folk want to do is moan and criticise. I even understood when you let "purple head " go 😢❤. Secondly, I have always thought that it is very good of you to show us when things don't work out and when plants die, because it helps all of us 😊, and we can see that we just need to carry on and keep trying. I only kept one pelargonium from last year. I had it in a pot in my unheated green house. It was alive until just a month or two ago. But I ended up throwing it away in the compost bin at the weekend. 😮
Hi Pauline, I know what you mean! What a waste of their (obviously valuable 😊) time!? (Sorry about purple head 😊). I think too that it’s good to know that other people’s plants die and their ideas go wrong, if everything was perfect we wouldn’t learn anything. What a shame about your pelargonium though, as you very nearly got it through the winter 👍 hope you’re doing ok, thanks always for all of your support, means a lot 👍 have a really lovely week 🩷💚
Oh my goodness, iv just watched your hanging baskets video and you were using the fluff that you have your dog food delivered into your baskets as a your liner😄 I couldn’t believe it, I also use my dog food packing fluff for my basket liners and in the winter I take it all out and come spring, I lay it all out and the birds come and take it for using it to make their nests😁imagine how chuffed I was to see that somebody else does this, I’m thrilled that there is someone with the same thoughts and ideas as me and I’m not a crazy old bat. I love your videos and keep it up x
Haha Katie you’re certainly not a crazy old bat (unless I am too and we both are). I have loads of that stuff, I should do what you do and leave it out for the birds, that’s an excellent idea!! Have a wonderful week 🌺
Fab video , lovely to see everything jumping back into life . The Apple Tree I purchased this year , I noticed today has got a bud on it & my Lily Plant has opened its first flower . So exciting to see everyone’s gardens , slowly come back to life 😃
Hi Lorraine, it’s definitely my favourite season. I have blossom on my apple tree now just a couple of days after I filmed this video so that’s wonderful news, I put it on my Instagram. So exciting. Have a great week 🩷💚
Janette, you're right all does not always go well in the garden, but look how much beauty your garden holds. I overwintered 2 of my geraniums in my garage. Kept them in pots and had them under lights. Not to rub it in, but one even flowered during that time.
🎉 🥳 oh I am impressed Dawn! Flowers too! Success for you but I’ll be buying new ones from now on 😂 all fun though isn’t it? Hope you have a great week 💚🩷
Hi Jeanette, I am so sorry that you had to face horrible people online but on the bright side at least it was only a very small number and they’re out of sight now. Oh these pelargoniums are so much easier to buy some little cheap ones each year, I got mine for about £1.25 each, they’re in the greenhouse growing now, bullseye pink. But don’t worry, I have lost so many plants this last winter season sadly :( but it’s just the way it goes sometimes.
Hello there Kurt and I’ve been most fortunate only to have 1 person out of so many 💚 we gardeners are all such a chilled out bunch so everyone is always happy and cheerful. I’m with you now and will buy cheap little pelargoniums, I’m impressed you have yours already! I’d better get on to it 😂 have a happy week 💚🩷
Hi Janette, so sorry to see your pelargoniums but I think failing would be not trying so you are definitely not a failure. We keep on trying and some things work and that makes us happy and some things don't. I may have had more disasters than successes but that makes the successes sweeter. If everything you did was perfect every time that would just make me feel like a failure. I love your podcasts so much because you are real and just like me we love our gardens and we keep on trying. Exciting to see your ferns springing into life. In Sydney we don't really have a quiet time in the garden as in the Autumn I'm planting primulas, snapdragons and lobelias for the Spring. Hope you have a lovely week. Love Bron xx
Hi Bron and you are so right 👍 our fails make our successes sweeter, I love that positive thought. I didn’t really mind that they failed at all, because it was going to be another whole day of potting them up and trying to store them somewhere until the last frost. I’m off to the garden centre for them in future, far more pleasant 😂 have a lovely week 💚
I love the honesty. I adore your garden and aspire to have something just like it one day. Mine is a work in progress but seeing your candidness with your mistake and failed attempt teaches me more than your success. Not a failed effort at all! A great teaching moment for so many and maybe just not quite the payoff you anticipated but still very valuable information. Keep gardening. I will keep watching and admiring.
Hey there Spencer and thank you for your lovely comments! It’s taken me quite a few years to get my garden to where it is today do you will definitely manage it too. Best bit of advice I was given was to buy one plant every month that’s in flower (or looking beautiful if it’s just foliage) and before you know it you have a gorgeous garden. Thanks so much for watching and I wish you an amazing week 💚🩷
Hi! I have failures all the time but that's part of gardening! Your garden is beautiful! I can't imagine someone being so negative! We gardeners are friends!! 🥰 Have a great week!!
Your attic was probably too hot for the geraniums. They need a cool, dark place. We used to put ours in our basement. I found you recently and I think you're lovely with a beautiful garden. Don't worry about rude people. I laughed at the end of your April 1 video and made my husband watch it later but I didn't tell him the secret 😂
Hi Alyson and thanks for telling me, it probably wasn’t the right spot then. That makes sense. Thanks for joining me, it’s always lovely to have a new gardening friend and for being a good sport with my April Fools joke. I did an even better one on a video last year, the things I said were so unbelievable but people still believed me 😂 have a lovely week and say hi to your husband from me 🩷💚
Hi Janette, sorry your experiment didnt work but thats how we learn. I never understand the people who leave negative comments or thumbs down on gardening channels, unless the information is dangerous, what is the purpose? Just sad people. Your garden is looking beautiful as always.
Hi there Adra and thank you! Maybe they think my videos are dangerous 😂😂 but seriously I don’t really care because they probably go round all day having a miserable time. Sad like you say. But I wish you happiness and a very good week 💚🩷
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener some people are envious of others joy. You are my favorite gardener out of all the wonderful gardeners on You Tube. I'm shocked you do not have more subs. You have a wonderful week too.
Oh! I did the same thing you did…bagged up my geraniums for the winter & just yesterday brought them out only to find them deceased! lol (I got the idea from a UA-camr in Michigan who shared her “success” in this procedure & she got the idea from yet another UA-camr & it works for them both). I find better success just keeping them potted up in the garage. lol I’m with you…I would rather spend the money for some new ones. 😂 Your garden is always so beautiful in the spring & summer & fall! Lovely❤
Lindylou I watched loads of UA-camrs do this before I was confident that “It just MUST work so I’ll do a video” 😂 glad to hear it wasn’t just me 😂 let’s both just buy new ones every year from now on 😂 thanks for always watching and have a fabulous week 💚🩷
Watching you throw those bags out, was like a clown car, they just kept coming. The garden looks lovely. I see rude comments at some other gardeners, I did hear one say when you're blocked, he doesn't see them, even tho the viewer sees the video. Glad you blocked that lady. 8K+ you're growing fast.
Hi Wende, I know! There were so many bags! You can stop seeing comments (still letting the person watch but you don’t see the comments) but you can also completely block a person from seeing the video, which I did with that lady 😂 I used to reply with a nice comment back no matter what she said, but she never gave up 😂 so she had to go 😂 oh yes and 8k is just thrilling. I’m amazed so many people watch me in my small garden. Very thankful too! Hope you have a fabulous week and thanks for sending me all your photos too which I love seeing 🩷
Janette, you definitely do not deserve a thumbs down. There will always be those few haters. Your true followers would never do such a thing. Block them and continue on with your vlogs. On the geraniums, you did well to try. I never have but thought about it. I just buy new ones. But I do understand how putting work into something and it go wrong. I’m notorious for killing seed. lol I lost all I planted last year and previous ones, but the greenhouse has been great and most everything sprouted and doing well. I still have so much to do but with our winter this year I’m surprised anything made it. Your garden looks amazing. Mines basically just waking up but what has looks good. You have really good ideas. Thank you for sharing with us. ❤️☺️
Hello again and yes, I’m ignoring the complainers. Hope they have a happy day, but they probably won’t 😂 yes, let’s just buy new pelargoniums, far less effort 😂 your seeds are sounding great! Well done, as you know I have none! It’s going to be all systems go for you real soon when you finally get some good weather. Hope you have a great week 💚🩷
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener lol well they probably won't 😂 Absolutely buying mine yearly. Lol to much work to try to save them.. I didn't get any last year and I love them so much. I'll have to get a couple in May. I do hope my seedlings do well. The last ones sprouted in 3 days. On day four they were an inch tall. Unbelievable. I'm excited to plant more this afternoon. It may be after the eclipse is over. It starts in 40 ish minutes.
Jeanette at least you gave it a go with those pelargoniums, I felt your disappointment, and you are so honest.I remember you doing that project. Love your channel❤
Hey there Lois and thanks for watching 😊 At least it saves me a day doing it again this Autumn and I can go and buy new ones from the garden centre instead 😂 hope you have a fabulous week 🩷💚
I have been putting mine in plastic grocery bags in my basement for 30 years! I pull them out get most dirt off and trim them to about 5-6". Some times they have flowers on them when I pull them in the spring. Perhaps they got to dry being in paper bags and their roots exposed to the air! Try again putting the entire plant in a plastic bag and close it fairly tight. Don't look at it until spring! 😁
Hi there TE, you obviously know the tricks if you’ve been doing yours successfully for 30 years! I am most impressed!! But I’m not trying again, I’m buying new ones from now on 😂 wishing you a great week 💚🩷
Hello there and thank you for oh r joining me all the way from Virginia!! It’s so lovely to have a new gardening friend. Wishing you a happy week ahead 🩷💚
Hello, Janette! My friend took thick plastic bags from the department store and covered her geraniums in pots with them; pots and all. She put them on the porch, and they survived! This is in South Carolina. Also, there's a channel called "Jes" here. She was successful with that exact overwintering method you did, but she kept hers in the basement. Maybe it's more humid in a basement? I think she let the roots poke out of the bags, and she stapled the bags closed. She's done it for 2 years now. It's always fun to experiment! I wrapped my caladiums in paper bags--pots and all--and left them in my garage. We'll see if they survived!🤷🏾♀️
Yes, I meant to mention Jess also, and I remember hers looked dead also, but nevertheless she planted them and they were alright? It's a lovely channel, by the way!
Hi there Dawn, I actually watched Jes in that video before I gave it a go! 😂 I always watch her, she’s lovely and has a beautiful garden. Never mind, it kept me busy for a day, but I’m glad I’m not going to be doing it again 😊 have a great week 💚🩷
I put my geraniums on my kitchen window for the winter. They loved it! They started flowering at the beginning of march and they're out in the garden now- still flowering! Sorry about your geraniums. You meant well and that's the main thing!
Hello Bay! See, I should have just asked you what you do beforehand 😂 oh well 😂 thanks for telling me your tips though. Seems gardening doesn’t have to be as complicated as we think 👍 wishing you a great week 🌺💚
@TheEnthusiasticGardener gardening is simple but hard work and messy if yoy want to show plants to their best effect. There's always something to do 24/7
What a shame to lose all those pretty geraniums! I've heard about storing them that way, but now I'm glad that I've never tried it! I'm also surprised that anyone would leave nasty comments to you. Your videos are so honest and enjoyable. When i watch your videos I feel like I'm stopping by to visit a friend! I also want you to know that I really enjoyed your April Fools joke....you really had me going right to the end! : )
😂 Sue, I couldn’t resist another April Fools joke last week. I don’t think I’ll be able to get away with it with you all next year. Thanks for being a great sport about it! Glad you never tried storing yours 😂 but I watched do many videos of order gardeners doing it before I tried myself, so? Never mind. Easier to go shopping for new ones!! That’s so nice you feel like you’re visiting a friend … you are! Have a lovely week 💚🩷
Your so honest sharing your failures. I was tempted to do the same at the time because it seemed a great idea, so now I feel smug I never bothered 😅 ( this from the person whose just spent a day making 2 candles which immediately shattered the container when I lit them😂😅xxx
Oh my goodness Julie, I’m so glad you didn’t copy me - although it works for everyone else 🩷 but oh dear about your candles, but … you enjoyed yourself for a whole day and that’s all that matters!! Have a happy week 💚
My understanding is that you have to rehydrate in water. I think you need to check with folks who do it routinely. If you must, just take cuttings. I do that for a few. My variegated ones which I overwintered just reverted to plain green. So I suggest you do what I am planning to to - buy new plants. they are some of the most inexpensive plants here. I do have a few seeds that germainted but they are taking forever!
Sunita, I love your advice so much - buy new ones 😂 maybe I missed the step of rehydrating them! But never mind, too late now, they are on the compost pile 😂 have a lovely week 🩷💚
Wow Janette, your garden is already so colourful. Mine is still soggy due to the clay soil which sadly means I'm so behind with my spring chores x BTW, the cruise we were thinking about is now booked. We go 8 weeks tomorrow x
Oh no! But never fear Debs because I saw Monty’s garden all under water and his always bounces right back again. How lovely you are off on holiday again! Exciting 🚢 🩷💚
Thank you so much for being honest and following through with the results of your pelagonium overwintering. I had actually diarised to watch to see if your experiment was successful as i planned on copying you end of year this year. Let’s find a new way! Xx
😂😂 Debs, take it out of your diary!! But it does work for so many gardeners because I’d watched countless videos beforehand to see what to do! Never mind, let’s just buy new ones every year 😂 hope you and Ade are well and have a fabulous week 💚
Why do people have to behave so mean? If you don’t like someone ‘s content then just move on. I don’t like everyone’s content but I simply decide not to watch them again. Keep on doing you and ignore the haters! x
Hello there Yvonne 💚 I don’t dwell on the 👎 but I do agree with you 😊 but I am so lucky with all the wonderful garden friends like you that I do have, and we are such a laid back chilled out bunch of people, probably from all the wellbeing we get from being out in our gardens. So we are the winners!! Have a wonderful week 💚
Lol the like and dislike are next to each other and on a small phone screen it's easy to press the wrong button and not notice 😂. It's a bit like predictive texting, I type what I want to say and it sometimes changes it without me noticing 😂😂
Hello Brett, thank you for watching 😊 oh yes the predictive text can be a nuisance! And I’m always rushing and pressing send before I’ve re-read what I’ve put 😂 hope you’re well and having a great time with all your lovely plants 💚
Hi Helen, a friend just said our failures make our successes sweeter, I love that 🩷 and you believed me! 😊👍 thanks for being a good sport about it, I couldn’t resist 😂 have a lovely week 💚
Oh thank you so much! I think it’s Spring garden fever - everyone is excited for gardening again and go searching for UA-cam garden channels to watch. I do it too! Have a lovely week 🩷💚
Hello my friend , good morning , I don’t know who would dislike your videos . Personally I love it , I like the enthusiastic on your videos , your garden , the flowers . Well everything. How can some people dislike it . And when you mentioned the willow, you should’ve said , people., you should already know I real gardener is always moving plants , don’t think that’s going to stay there forever 😂😂 .
Hello Max, I don’t know, some people!! 😂 and yes, a plant has to be moved at least once in my garden 😂 thanks so much for always being such a great support and I hope you enjoyed your morning coffee with me. Have a great week 🩷💚
We all learn from our mistakes, don't feel bad. I overwintered some dahlias but unfortunately they didn't survive! I also fell for your April fools trick & commented on it, but on the wrong video!! Loll. I look forward to your videos & here's to many more 😊
Oh thank you Billie and you’re so right! Sorry about your dahlias though. I’m kind of relieved I don’t have to pot up 30 plants and keep them somewhere sheltered until the last frost 😂 glad you liked my April Fool though 😂 have a wonderful week 💚
I agree, it’s definitely easier to just start again, or try to overwinter them in pots in greenhouse. I wonder if the one shown at 7:56 might have grown though - it looks different to the others? Something learnt is always good! 😊
Hello there! It’s easier to buy new ones 😂 I think the one you mean was slightly different, I don’t remember what it was called but it looked different when it was alive too. Never mind, I’m quite pleased I didn’t have to pot them all up and keep them safe until last frost!! Have a wonderful week 💚
Hi Jeanette, I love your channel, take no notice of some horrible people, as for the geraniums, never mind, well done for trying and just buy some new ones next weekend ❤❤ xx Also, im loving the ivy on the fence, really softens the look of the garden 👍👍👍🌿
Hi there Tracey, and thank you 😊 I’m so lucky, I think us gardeners must be THE most chilled and relaxed group of people, we all give each other so much encouragement. I’m liking the ivy on the fence too. I had a good tip just not to let the branches go horizontally, cut those off, and just keep them vertical so I’ll do that I think. Saves me having to paint the fence again! Have a wonderful week 💚
Great video Jeannette! We all have those disasters from time to time! I have tried unsuccessfully to overwinter hardly Salvia cuttings for the past few years but thankfully the parent plants have survived so far! Maybe your poor geraniums would have survived if you had potted them instead?
Hello and thanks, you’re right, we all have disasters 👍 never mind. Maybe I should indeed have potted them instead but … no more trying with them … I’m buying new ones instead 😂 have a lovely week 🩷💚
Another lovely video and NO you don’t deserve a thumbs down, watching failures makes you human just like the rest of us, the title says it all, enthusiastic not professional. Carry on doing what we love seeing you doing, enjoying your garden. 🌸🌷(couldn’t find a daffodil 😂)
Oh Jean thanks for your lovely comments. You’re all so encouraging 👍😊 someone else said our failures make our successes sweeter which I thought was a great saying. Hope you have a lovely week 🩷💚
Hello Bob, glad it’s not just me! 😂 I have seen everyone has so much success with growing them from seed so I will have to have a try and that next year. This year I can buy new ones 👍 have a fabulous week 🩷💚
As my mum always says, gardening isn’t about always getting it right. It’s about trying and having fun. We all fail sometimes but it looks like your garden is thriving and it is beautiful too! What is the tree that looks kind of like a monkey puzzle tree but silver? Beautiful! ☺️👌🏽
Hi there Dee, your Mum is right there 👍 do you mean the tree in the pink pot? If so that’s my Blue Spruce, it’s called a Picea PUNGENS Hoopsii, it’s one of my most favourite trees and I planted it a year ago. It will grow big eventually but it’s very slow growing. Hope you’re having a great week so far Dee 🩵💜
Yes that’s one, thank you ☺️ it’s so beautiful I may have to see if I can find one and treat myself to one of these. Having a lovely week so far thank you. Glad we’ve had a dryer day today as I’ve been able to sit outside and enjoy the sunset. Hope you’re having a lovely week too 😊
I hope you can find one Dee, such a lovely bright colour, it does stand out. Make sure it gets some sun though because I have another PICEA called Superblue Seedling and that doesn’t get much sun and so it’s not such a bright blue. 🩵
Thanks so much for your openness about all your garden experiences. Overwintering geraniums is a hard garden nut to crack. I've tried and failed twice at it and came to the same conclusion that it's just easier to purchase again in spring. Your garden is looking really beautiful, especially at minute 14:29 with the combination of your beautiful pink pots and the tall pink tree (what is the tree?). I liked your flashback to winter. Congrats on the pear blossoms. Unfortunate about the negative woman. You did the right thing. I'm looking forward to your next videos.
Such lovely comments, thank you so much! The tree is a Photinia Red Robin, I don’t know if you are familiar with them? They are quite common here, mostly in shrub form but mine was grown as a standard. It’s only in Spring that the new leaves turn bright red, but after that it’s just green for the rest of the year. I agree, no more overwintering experiments, I’m just buying new ones 😂 have a great week 💚🩷
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Thanks for the Photinia info. I just checked it and see that it's zone 7. Since I'm in zone 4, unfortunately it won't work for me. We're smack dab in the middle of the path of the eclipse so will definitely have a great week. You do as well.
Oh wow zone 4! Thats a whole different ballgame to my zone 8. And wow again for being in the eclipse view too! I’m not going to see it I don’t think. It’s at 7.52pm here but the UK will only see a “small grazing” (says Google) in the north and west, and I’m in the south east 😫 but I’ll have a look anyway, just in case. Google also says the next time the UK will have a good view of a solar eclipse will be 23 Sept 2090 so I think I’ll miss that one too 😂 Hope you get a good view 🩷💚
Good morning! Yes, I guess I have, and I’ve certainly saved myself a whole day’s work this Autumn, and going and buying new ones is a whole lot easier 😂 wishing you a wonderful week 💚
Good morning to you Christine! I was secretly pleased I didn’t have to pot out all those geraniums 😂 I do not know where I would have stored them until the last frost! I’m buying new ones from now on! Have a great week 💚
Hi Cynthia, I’m kind of glad it didn’t work as it saves me a whole day of doing it again this Autumn 😂 I have watched so many videos of other gardeners doing this with great success too! But never mind, all goes towards the compost pile so never wasted 😂 have a great week 💚
Hi Janette, I'm sorry to hear about your geraniums. I've seen other people recommend overwintering them that way too. The way I do it is just to dig them up and plant them in a little bit of potting soil and water them once a week. I only have 3 so they don't take up a lot of space it may be impractical for the quantity you had so maybe you can try this in the fall with your favorite ones. As for the negative comments I wouldn't give them a 2nd thought some people just want to complain and try to make other people miserable. If someone doesn't like your content they have a very easy solution: Don't watch it !!! We had an earthquake here a few days ago. It was about 75 miles away but we still felt it. It was the1st one in nearly 200 yrs in our region. I had no idea what it was until I saw it on the news that night.
Oh goodness me, I heard about your earthquake too! Did you get to see the eclipse? It wasn’t visible here but I saw clips on UA-cam. Oh I don’t worry about the negative comments, I don’t suppose those people have much fun going round being negative all the time. I think I’ll just buy new geraniums each year 😂 far easier. Have a wonderful week 💚🩷
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener It was cloudy all day here so we didn't have the eclipse. As a child ( 5 or 6 yrs old ) I was so afraid of the eclipse I covered myself with pillows and bedsheets until the night.
Hi sub love your content and rise above the knockers there not worth it just rise above them. Iv been gardening 40 odd years and sometimes I mess up or each year something fails that's gardening all the best and thank you for sharing.😊❤
Hello there John and thank you so much for subscribing. It’s so lovely to have a new gardening friend 🩷 and thanks for your encouragement too, we are always learning new tips and tricks from our fellow gardeners and I definitely won’t concern myself with the knockers 😂 💚 hope you’re having a great week!
Hi Barbara, isn’t it amazing, the least we do to them, the more they seem to survive 😂 I had quite a few people saying exactly the same, left in their pots they did well!! Never mind, buying new ones from now on 😂 hope you’re having a happy week 💚🩷
Good morning darn it’s ok but new!! Btw what is the blue spruce in lovely pot ? How tall snd wide will it get ? I want one that will stay narrow and about 10-15tall. You do have quite a lot of winter interest. Spring brings hope😎it’s all the energy we feel in our gardens that feeds my soul as yours . You always keep it real !!
Hello there Teresa 👋 that’s my gorgeous PICEA PUNGENS ‘Hoopsii’ and that pot is bottomless so it’s in effect in the ground. It’s supposed to stay a neat conical shape, however it will grow 3m height by 2m wide but that’s in 20 years, so I’ll probably have to take it out the pot at some point. But in 20 years time I don’t think I’ll care much by then 😂😂 have a great week 💚🩷
Hi Janette I love you garden gate with the mirror behind what a fab idea to make your garden look as if it goes further beyond xx did you purchase that online ? Love your videos so calming and relaxing I’m a keen Gardner myself there is nothing more relaxing I spend a lot of time outside I just love it 💖👍🥰
Hey there Liz and thanks so much! Yes I’d wanted one of those garden illusion gates for a while and I bought it online at a company called Primrose in the UK. Had it quite a few years now. I just love being outside too, especially as I work in an office. Thanks for watching and have a really great week 🩷
Hello Patsy and thank you so much. All I know is it’s a Mahonia Japonica but unfortunately I’ve no idea if there’s a particular variety. I’ve had that plant for possibly 12 years or more and I just cannot remember. It’s as tough as nails though and pretty much looks after itself! Hope you’re having a great week 🩷💚
I tried geranium overwintering in paper bags for the first time this year. When I opened the bags, they looked similar to yours. I cut them back and potted them up to see what would happen. About half of them started putting out green. I will probably do it again next year. Sorry about yours.
Hello Chives! Oh! Maybe they are supposed to look like mine did 🤔 oh well, they’re on the compost heap now so too late to try that, but thanks for watching. I’m glad you had success with yours though. Hope you have a really great week 🩷💚
I assure you that I always watch to the end ... However last week was weird --- Mercury Retrograde -- may have had something to do with it ... any way I did finish watching the video to the end ... !
Shirlene you always make me smile with your sayings … Mercury Retrograde (I had to Google that one!) … I’m going to have to use that phrase definitely 😂 thanks for always watching to the end 🩷 have a wonderful week 🩷💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Yes other planets do some what the same thing like interrupting our life's ... @shirlenehigbie5677 oh yes I know about the eclipse, we are not going to see it very well over here, just a glimpse for people in the north or west (and I’m in the south east) but I’ll still go out and have a look at 7:52pm here, just in case. Hope you get a good view though 😎🩷

I understand we have a freedom of speech, but if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.😉 It's all a learning experience... just let it go 🤪 Have a nice week 🤗
Hi Janette Your garden is looking fresh and beautiful. Sorry you lost the New Zealand plant...I forget the name. I know I shouldn't but🤣🤣😂losing your geraniums was not an afore thought prediction. You did everything right as far as I can see by other channels. I've tried myself with storing dahlias and what a flop that was. I can slightly remember the video but it's like the pot calling the kettle black😂 especially with my failures. Just look at the success you had by dividing your heucheras. I very much appreciate your vlogs whatever the outcome. Thanks a million❤💞💖🍟🍰🍦☕☕
Hi Sharon, oh yes I loved that plant (EREMOPHILA) but it was a bit of a gamble and it only cost me £5 and I had 6 months with it - not everything lasts that long! 😂 quite a few people have said they didn’t have success with overwintering dahlias so youre not alone there. Hope you’re having a wonderful week so far 🩷💚
In gardening, there are no failures. It's all about learning. Good on you for trying something you have never tried before!
Chico, I love that! Thanks for being great and supportive and I wish you a fabulous week 🩷💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener We Might have a cruise on the cards 😀 ... you know we kind of like them...
We have booked another! We are going on Cunard’s new Queen Anne later this year to the Fjords for a week. We haven’t cruised since Feb ‘22 so we are so excited about that 💚

Hi Janette. You tried a new thing do not be discouraged. I like every thing you do. There is no harm in trying
No harm in trying Olga, you’re right 👍 always learning something new 😊 thanks for always watching and have a great week 💚
Hi Jeanette,
Your garden could be just perfect for a little wild life pond.
Thanks for the speedy response Janette. The weather is absolutely vile here today in Liverpool. Hope it's better for you. Happy gardening ❤
It’s awful here too, cold windy and not a day for gardening. I’m at work though so at least I’m not missing anything 😂🩷💚
chao bạn. khu vườn nhỏ rêng thương quá. chúc bạn ngày mới vui vẻ
Hello there! Thank you for joining me in my garden today and I wish you a wonderful week 🩷💚
Hi Janette, you are forgiven...lol
It was brave for you to admit your disaster to the world...but mistakes are part and parcel of learning.
Now ...I need you to forgive me, I didn't watch all your four Easter videos....long boring story, pass.
On and up ...your garden looks good ready for spring.
My garden is looking ok, my rockery is really colourful, daff and tulips have almost gone but a great show.
Now, as my spring bulbs show was so so good, I bought 300 summer bulbs from B & Q online only for
£ 13.99! Bargain I hope?
Cheers and keep well

Steve
Hi Steve, and yes you are totally forgiven for not watching 😂 and oh yes 300 bulbs for that price, a true bargain! My tulips and daffs are still hanging on but it’s been so windy they have had a battering! Thank you as always for your update from the North and have a fabulous week 💚🩷
Nice start to spring - good to ignore those that don't matter. Keep the updates coming. Thank you.
Thanks SJAY 😊 yes, ignore the complainers. Hope they have a lovely day (but they probably won’t 😂). Thanks for watching and have a great week 💚🩷
Gx
Hi Geraldine and thank you too for making it ok to share the rough with the smooth 😂 it’s all fun isn’t it?! Hope you are having a great week 💜💚

Hello Gangstergranny (I love your name! 😊) and thank you so much 😊 what a lovely comment 🧡 hope you’re having a really great weekend 🌺
We love your channel Janette (and Richard too)♥ There is one in every crowd so don't get down about negativity - seems you have a good outlook on it♥
Oh thank you dear Snappy, there is one in every crowd isn’t there?!

Hey Mary and thank you!! Richard put all the lighting in a few years back. Love my new solar balls though 😎 hope you have a really lovely week 🩷💚
A learning curve! Don't beat yourself up!
Hey there and thanks for watching. Yes, you are right there! 👍 have a really lovely week 💚

Have a great week as well🫶
So glad you got to see it. I’ll have to watch it on the News instead 😊😎
🥹let me know what you think. It was a sight🌞
Loving how you keep it real Jeanette. Makes me feel so much more confident when the odd try does not work out. You’re the real deal. Your garden is looking so lovely. Thanks for all you do. 🌹
@lalawson7 that’s so encouraging, thank you so much! I’m so lucky to have all you great gardening friends 💚🩷
Hi @rodrigues1892 and hope you’re having a really great day! 💚🩷
Your garden is looking lovely as always with lots of new life bursting through! 🌹
Happy gardening!
@ukaly1 hi Alyson, we all love Linda 🩷 and yes the world is such a small place nowadays that we can all so instantly connect with each other 🩷💚
Geraniums are very hard to winter over.
❤
Your garden is beautiful, and I thought your April Fool joke was brilliant 😂you had me completely fooled 👍
😂😂 oh Brenda I could not resist 😊 and thank you for being such a great sport about it!! Wishing you a great week 💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener Ohhh that’s fabulous . Will have to take a look 😁
Hi Peggy and yes, we are all GREAT friends here. That’s what I love about doing this channel 😊 and chatting to lovely friends like you 🩷💚
Your attic was probably too hot for the geraniums.
@adrabruzzese7610 I am honoured at that! 🩷💚🌷
Wonderful video again! I enjoyed the ones over Easter too ❤
Hey there JB and thanks so much for watching all my videos, the good and the bad 😂 wishing you a fabulous week 🩷💚
Your garden is always so beautiful in the spring & summer & fall!
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener lol well they probably won't 😂
Absolutely buying mine yearly.
Hope you get a great view 😎 we won’t see it here unfortunately ❤️
I love the colour in your garden Janette
Hi there Geraldine and thank you so much! Have a wonderful week 💚🩷
Very nice and beautiful ❤️ 😍 🤩 👌 Thank you ❤️ Subscribed! New friend from Virginia ❤❤❤
Hi Ann, yes I watched Jes doing this, hers did look dead, but mine were deader 😂 have a lovely week 🩷💚

Love your garden experience.. I love doing things out of the ordinary..
Hey Donna, thank you. You’re right, it’s all a great experience and I’d only be sitting down resting otherwise 😂 have a wonderful week 🩷
Exciting 🚢 🩷💚
keep going... love your gardening tips
Thanks so much Jay Bee and have a great week 💚🩷
Keep on doing you and ignore the haters! x

Just keeping it real Janette. Have a great week
Hey there Sharon and yes, I just had to confess my trial disaster 😂 hope you have a wonderful week 💚
Never worked for me, I did geranium seeds from Swallowtail this year. Thanks for sharing.
You've saved more than you've lost, I'm sure. 😊

Sorry that didn’t work out, everything else is gorgeous
Hi Cynthia, I’m kind of glad it didn’t work as it saves me a whole day of doing it again this Autumn 😂 I have watched so many videos of other gardeners doing this with great success too! But never mind, all goes towards the compost pile so never wasted 😂 have a great week 💚
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener true you as well
Hi Janette, I'm sorry to hear about your geraniums.
@squirrelsarepeopletoo6678 awww bless! 💚

@@TheEnthusiasticGardener thank you for reply all the best and keep what your best at growing
Hi Janette, my geraniums didnt survive also although i had them in the garage, however the two i just left in their pots are sprouting
Hi Barbara, isn’t it amazing, the least we do to them, the more they seem to survive 😂 I had quite a few people saying exactly the same, left in their pots they did well!! Never mind, buying new ones from now on 😂 hope you’re having a happy week 💚🩷

Hello there, thanks for watching, I can’t read your comment but … pretty emojis ❤️💚🌷🍒☀️🥰💜
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener thank you the color is so pretty . I’m looking for one for my garden.
Hi Janette, what species is your Mahonia please ? Love your videos ❤
Oh I forgot to mention that today starting at 2:00 we are having a Total Eclipse and it last until around 4:00 so that should be exciting ... Bring out a glass of wine or bottle and our cute little solar glasses and just chill ... !
@@TheEnthusiasticGardener It was Awesome ... when it was dead center I took my solar glasses off and saw it as a Beautiful Diamon engagement ring ... OMG so Awesome ... !
I tried the same thing with the same results. Decided that was a scam 😊
😂😂 hi Linda, it does work for lots of people, I watched lots of UA-cam videos 😂 but far easier to buy new ones! Hope you’re having a happy week 🩷
Hi thers always horrible pple out there.to criticise. What we do in the garden.you carry on.your blogs are great.not the Geraniums though.😂😂😂
😂😂 Anne you made me smile there! No, not the geraniums 😂 you have a great week 🩷💚
I understand we have a freedom of speech, but if you have nothing nice to say, don't say anything at all.😉
It's all a learning experience... just let it go 🤪 Have a nice week 🤗
Oh yes Lorraine, you are so right there! Hope you have a lovely week too 🩷💚
Hi Janette
Your garden is looking fresh and beautiful.
