Absolutely magnificent! Count Basie is most certainly happy up in his heaven of the job Frank Foster have done. This is big band jazz at it's best. And I had the pleasure of sitting in the foot tapping audience enjoying it all. ❤️❤️❤️❤️
I played with Eric Dixon in Halifax, Canada, along with "Bucky" Adams, when our British mayor held a festival called "BUSKERFEST". Wonderful times! JMH
You totally cool person who uploaded the video. 😍 So far I had heard just one single interview with my favorite rhythm guitar player which was audio only. Have seen Freddie Green four times in concert, one with Basie, one with with Basie & Ella Fitzgerald, one with Thad Jones and Caterina Valente and a last one with a Basie All Star Group including Sweets Edison, Clark Terry, Al Grey, Benny Powell, Illinois Jacquet, Buddy Tate, Ernie Wilkins, Nat Pierce, Eddie Jones and Gus Johnson. Later I saw the Basie band directed by Frank Foster, but sadly without Mr. Green who had died earlier and a last time lead by Bill Hughes who made quite an impression on me as a leader. But I have never seen Mr Green talk in a video. He looks way less grumpy during this short conversation than he looked on stage or was depicted in interviews by fellow musicians on the Freddie Green website. It is only my personal opinion, but without Freddie Green the Basie lost much of the original Count Basie atmosphere and sound, but it is still an wonderful big band, always worth to buy a concert ticket. Thank you, this was great to watch. All best and I hope my comment finds you well. To add, here the audio interview: ua-cam.com/video/41uztkDoIKo/v-deo.html
