In the books, it more so comes across that Cercei sleeps with Jaime because of narcissism, but that Jaime actually loves Cercei.
WEll, HIS conception of what love is. Which is very weird. For the most part they both hate everyone in the world. Jaime seems pretty clueless about what love is, and even more clueless about what Cersei actually thinks about him and feels for him. He assumes that she has never been interested in anyone else. He has zero understanding that she was furious that she couldn't marry Raegar, and it was only out of that anger that she told him to go into the kingsguard. He accepts the position, making Tywin furious, then finds out the mad King won't let him do anythng, but is just keeping him as a hostage. THEN when he kills that king, Cersie does marry the next king..so Jaime now has a life of listening to the king have sex w/Cersie or other women. His whole life has been trashed because of her anger at being passed over by Raegar. Though this might well have been the mad king's decision...it was a good one. Elia seems to have been a nice person.
Jaime is remarkably stupid for someone in his mid 30s.
Very true
@@greenman6141well, he was stupid, but he realizes how manipulative and selfish Cersei is during the course of the books and breaks free from her influence. And to be fair, he doesn't really know how a good relationship is, since his mother died and Aerys was so horrible towards Rhaella.
Very well summarised!
@greenman6141 "remarkably stupid for someone in his mid-30s" just hits too close to home, man
I bet one day tywin accidentally took cersei with him thinking she was Jaimie and she loved being treated as the male heir to the rock
I think so to. Considering how often it’s mentioned and how she can tell the difference between what it like to be male and female so distinctively like she had both experiences.
Jaime too! He probally have a idea of the different ways a girl and a boy are treated. Imagine little Jaime having sewing and singing lessons, begin taught how to be a perfect lady, I bet he could put it off if he really wanted.
@@ethanwoods1775.
@@analauramorelrocha2383Eh... Kinda no, we don't see a single evidence of that in Jaime's character or behaviour.
@@thedreamscripter4002but we do know for a fact that they would swap places for a day
I remember when reading “Storm of Swords” when Jaime changes up his appearance, his thoughts state that Cersei won’t be happy with it because he doesn’t he doesn’t look like her anymore.
Lol true, he cut all his golden hair and with the missing hand. Also when Catelyn stark spoke to him in the dungeons of riverun she said, even in chains, dirty clothing and not being allowed to shave, you can still see and sense the power of the man! Have there ever been a man so beautiful with his face so much like the queen’s. He gets the same compliments as cersi being the most beautiful. But I laughed at lady stark’s comment and said I guess she never met rhaegar. He was way more beautiful than Jamie even cersi said he made Jamie look like a nobody. She always wants the best. But with the dragon prince death, I guess Jamie got the title of prettiest man in the 7 kingdoms.
Another portion of “A storm of swords.” Regarding Cersei and Jamie’s relationship is you see a lot more into how Cersei treats Jamie. Like when Jamie first returns to kings landing and meets Cersei in the sept, in Jamie’s internal monologue he says how whenever he wanted affection etc he would always have to make the move, “She would give, but I would have to ask.” Or something similar to that. It’s a power trip, to say that Jamie’s always the one who wants something from Cersei not the other way around, it shows the power dynamic in their relationship is always in Cersei’s favour. Also after they have sex in the sept, Cersei immediately wants to be let up and continue like nothing happened, which also makes Jamie feel conflicted. It just shows that Cersei basically just uses Jamie to fulfil her needs and always has control and power in their relationship. He’s just an extension of herself in her eyes. That’s why I’d say Cersei is Narcissistic and Jamie is more a victim of Narcissism.
@@tanman49 Beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Arianne thinks Targaryens look creepy and the men that are attractive tend to be very feminine looking.
@@CatotheE true, tysha for exemple she loved tyrion, and tyrion searching for her not because she's the prettiest but because of her character, beside cersei compared rheagar with jaime when he only was 16 now he's better looking than the past
@@tanman49if he was prettier, why did they cast an ugly actor for him? 😔
Cersei only loves people as much as she can see them as extensions of herself. She bangs Jaime because she sees him as a male version of her. Even her children are seen as mere extensions of her and a way for her to wield power through them. Which is why when any of them go off-script and start acting like healthier and more independent people, she gets pissed and sees it as a betrayal.
So basically you say Cersei "m@$turbat€d" with Jaime (her other half)
That explains it.
I think she would have banged her own sons for power

@@wisdomgozieimade1083 well there's a very high possibility that she is the daughter of Mad King.
She gets off from watching people burn in wildfire...... Targaryen traits be running deep in her.
@@ashesofhopesinabonfireofdr6341no there isnt because then Jaime would also be his child as well. And Tywin loved his wife too much that he would have probably rebelled against the Mad King if this were true. Or at the very least had his wife and the children killed
@@Bigmojojo Tywin's wife pleaded with Mad King's wife to be sent back to Rock out of the blue one day, she was raped by Mad King. Tywin wasn't an idiot, to him the Lannister house meant more than his instant gratification. Tywin waited for an opportunity to wipe out House Targaryen and he did his best to achieve it.
He ordered Gregor to rape Elia, you ever wondered why?
Killing Elia and her children meant inviting a war with Dorne, Tywin ordered the kids murdered regardless.
Book Tyrion is pretty monstrous inside, too.
The main difference is that he may not be irredeemable yet.
As for Aerys forcing himself on Joanna, that's hinted at but neither stated nor proven... And anyway, wasn't the timing such that it would have been Tyrion who was half Targaryen, especially with the occasional hints about his appearance? The varicolored eyes, the white-blond hair... As opposed to the golden blond his entire family sports. Plus the Targ propensity for deformed babies (giving Tyrion purple or sapphire eyes would have been too obvious; ditto scales or a nub tail...)
But Cersei and Jaime look completely Lamnister in every way.
In the books Cersei's narcissism reslly shows when she only ever refers to Jaime as "her shadow, her other half, you are me and I am you, etc. It shows that she doesnt see him as an individual person but only a narcissistic extension of herself. And she was always insulting him about loosing his hand.
Yeah cause him losing the one thing he was excellent at feels like a slight towards her. She's mad that he lost his had.
@@7PlayingWithFire7 I don't think she's mad at losing his hand, more because he is starting to distance himself from her and not doing what she says like he usually does. She rationalized that when he lost his hand, he lost his courage which is why his not her obedient dog anymore. Its also an opportunity to hurt him when he displeases her, his lost hand is an easy target, and knowing it stings him
Because her favorite fingers were attached to that hand...

Well, they're a "prideful" bunch of Rich Lions so 😅
*Dictionary
Tywin isn't quite a narcissist. He's an asshole to Tyrion, but he isn't stupid and self-absorbed like Cersei and Jaime.
Tywin is an actual mastermind and tactical genius. He considers both his gains and his allies gains, as well as the welfare of his people. He doesn't have love for them, that probably would have been his wife's department, but he couldn't be king of a dying people as Cersei is happy to be.
@@ltlredhen4177He's wise in ways but that doesn't negate his narcissism. He still cares very much about status and his intellectual pursuits and ability to nurture intellect in some could still be read as narcissism.
@@nellieshoals I don’t think cultivating yourself is narcissistic at all, in fact it’s the opposite narcissistic people are like Cersie who think she amazing and perfect and the best there is. Going out of your comfort zone and choosing growth is a trait that describes some that intelligent and that knows there faults. He mean to is dwarf son for a lot of reasons. Number one he killed the persons he loved the most and number two is he’s hideous and a walking humiliation and also acts horribly and disobediently by drinking and whoring. Tywin most narcissistic trait is fueled I think by his own insecurity. He feels like he hasn’t done enough and he wants to leave a legacy but the world just throws stuff at him constantly like his idiot weak willed father, his rock and wife dieing, his King hating him for being good at his job, his king going insane. All his kids being total degenerates. He just wants a break I think so he can leave behind something that lasts because where ever he’s at he has to patch the holes of a sinking ship.
Tyrion's mouth burns hotter than Balerion's.
That’s why they named him the Imp.
Also, in the books Cercei is obsessed with Tywin's approval. (Eg, when they discovered Tywins body, they called Cersei. She was stunned ti see Shae and wanted the body taken away and disposed off. Once removed from her sight, Cersei now convinces herself that the body was placed here to insult tywin. She refuses to believe that Tywin slept with Shae and is so convinced thst Tywin only ever slept with her Mother and since Joanna died, Tywin has no woman in his life but her. By the time Cersei leaves the room, she has deluded herself into thinking thst Tywin was found in the Bedroom (not restroom) and that he was alone in his bed when found. Anyone who speals otherwise is a trator and will be killed....
She is contantly in an internal tug of war with herself. Half her mind wants to weep and cry and beg her father to return. The other is scoffing at him. One side glorifies her father as the greatest lord ever while her other half of the mind scorns him and tells that she will be far greater than his pathetic attempts....
Once Tywin dies, she slowly begins to lose it completely......
And people say dany is going crazy when Cersei is obviously losing it as time goes on and with paranoia steeping in with her wanting the people dead after the walk of shame. Heck even Jamie notic3d her reaction to the wildfire burning people and her reacting made him think of aerys
@@ACinemafanaticAm I the only one that thinks Jaime might've gotten a bit of PTSD from having to live around Aerys and dealing with his bullshit.
In retrospect she was already insane she just kept denying it. Narcissistic people always blame others for everything they do never taking accountability because they have no idea how to deal with it and shame. In truth they aren’t considered legitimate threats in the human mind because narcissists aren’t immediately perceived as such. And if you walk away you’ll see they were nothing but little worm squirming around in the dirt.

Balerion's flames could not burn this hot.
Jaime loves/loved cersei. Jaime is actually a really simple character for 90% of the story. Just a dude head over heels with ow inhibition. Cersei on the other hand just loves herself. She saw herself in jaime. But she was willing to give u jame for Rhaegar's looks, princely/royal status and targaryen prestige.
Until cersei abandoned him, Jaime was willing to do just about anything for cersei.
Also cersei was basically begging jaime to throw bran from the window, "he saw us.... He saw US!!"
"I heard you the first time"
She then later covers herself by scolding jaime for doing it, saying she could have frightened bran.
She's lying. She wanted Jaime to do it, she just didn't want to have to say it or acknowledge it.
You should have mentioned from when Jaime frees tyrion, and tyrion tells him that Cersei has been sleeping with the Kettleblacks and Lancel, every Jaime chapter after that he keeps repeating it to himself, the fact that she 'cheated' on him really breaks him apart, until he ignores her pleas for help
I have to wonder if Martin has each House personify one of the Seven Deadly Sins.
The Lannisters, thanks toCersei, seem the most obvious to me, being Envy, one of the Baratheons could easily be Wrath(ours is the fury), the Greyjoys greed (refusing to give up the old ways), the Tyrells gluttony (growing the most food in Westeros), the Martells lust, the Starks sloth (for not moving in time due to their honour), the Arryns pride ("as high as honour")
It's just a theory at the moment, but what do others think?
I think I felt that even not realizing it, they all felt odd in some way
Jaime didn't love Cersei because she was similar to him. Cersei manipulated him when she realized she couldn't get Rhaegar, and the fact their mother was dead and their father refused to see what was happening, combined with him joining a group of "celibate" men at a young age, never allowed him to realize that it wasn't a healthy relationship.
iirc, the kings guard wasn't celibate. They were allowed to have sex, they just weren't allowed to marry or father children.
It’s like when in a Clash of kings, tyrion says to her “ i never understood what he saw in you, apart from his own reflection”
And that's why Jamie cut his hair and grew a beard lol
Still love King Viserys’ line in House of the Dragon in reference to Jason Lannister: “That man’s pride has pride.”

Then when he eventually does, he still can't tell the two of them apart after looking at them for five minutes. You know internally he'd be going "Oh Gods, not this shit again."
Jamie was being manipulated by her the whole time. He believed it was forbidden love, to her it was just self love. She cast him aside as soon as it’s convenient.

Jaime is quite simple medieval man. He likes to beat his enemies and fuck the most beautiful girl he can find. Jaime’s life is as compilcated as it is, but as a man he is quite straight forward.
Cersei wants to BE Jaime (she hates that she’s a woman) and when she cant, she wants to OWN Jaime. I think thats clear as well. Actually, I feel like all the Lannisters live in Jaime’s mercy in a way, even tho Jaime doesn’t recognize it himself. Tywin needs him to be his heir, Cersei needs Jaime for pleasure and validation and Tyrion for a friend and protection. Kevan needs Jaime to lead their armies… Everything in House Lannister seems to be resolving always around Jaime.
If that were true he’d cheat on Cersei (if it can even be called that) at every opportunity. Nah, I think he just has a toxic relationship with his toxic father and toxic sister and doesn’t really understand what an actual loving relationship is. Cersei can easily move on from Jamie as she did with Lancel.
@@AnarexicSumo Yeah Jaime doesnt sleep with anyone but Cersei. I know that. Cersei being the most beautiful girl in the kingdoms Jaime’s eyes (and Salladhor Saan’s if I recall from the show lol). I didn’t really mean that he sleeps around like a common sellsword.

Jaime was naive
I see what you mean. If Jamie would have never allowed himself to be swayed by the manipulation of others he could have had the entire family on a chokehold. The family needed a lot from him so they used him. If he would have decided to use those needs against them, then they wouldn’t have many alternatives. All three would have been vying for the best option which would be him. They only look for other alternatives when they have him serving them because he chooses to be used freely.

Yes. Cersei was cunning but she wasn’t logical. Allowing the faith to have their own army again (The swords and Stars) was one of the worst ideas she had, and if she knew her history; she would never have done it.
The swords and stars were so lawless it was Maegor who outlawed them and Jahearys who sealed it. They answered to nobody but the High Septon- as we saw when they imprison Cersei etc.
Maegor decreed them unlawful after their contribution to Aenys’ death, although Maegor was more concerned that the S&S army were becoming ruthless. He did ride Balerion after this decree, whilst they all prayed in the main sept, in which he burned it to the ground at their morning prayers- yet this still didn’t stop until Jahaerys ascended and firmly stated he would then protect the Faith, and they needn’t an army of their own.
She's definitely smart. The problem is that she thinks she smarter than she is, making her look dumber than she is.
Being smart doesn't matter if you consistently think you are the smartest person around. You're still going to lose.
So....perfect casting for both characters, I cannot imagine any other actors anymore
Not sure if tywin cared enough about his children to even try to tell them apart
At least they kept that in the show. What really made me hate Cersei was her thinking she was a genius like her father. Or like Tyrion. She’s not. She’s a blind fool.
Tyrion is the only one that can rival Tywin’s genius. Deep down Tywin must respect that, but it kills him knowing his deformed son is the one best suited to lead their family. One so short can see more than a giant.
Tywin wasn’t that smart. In a story about plots, deceit, and furthering your station at best he turns already on the fence bannermen to his cause, but a good chunk of that was Rob’s fault for marrying a Westerling, losing the Karstarks, and breaking a vow with the most grudge holding house around.
A smart man wouldn’t have let a monster like Joffrey kick off a massive war to begin with. He can’t even see what’s right in front of him, that two of his kids are sleeping together.
Charles Dance is an amazing actor and I believe he did too well a job at presenting as the genius tactician that Tywin could never be. Tywin couldn’t beat a child with a smaller army, Tywin would have been too late to the Red Keep had it not been for Tyrion and the Tyrells (Tyrells who were only there because of the death of Renly of which Tywin had nothing to do with), Red Wedding isn’t smart you just open yourself up for people to violate Guest Right to you, also let’s not forget Tywin invites the Red Mummers for his fear campaign in the Riverlands which bites him in the ass when they eventually chop off Jamie’s hand.
When Tywin sister pointed that out to him, he didn't speak to her for half a year.
But I'm not sure if Tywin knew it even deep down. Tywin from the books isn't quite Charles Dance's Tywin from the show.
I think Cersei definitely just views Jamie (and her children as well) as an extension of herself. I think Jamie genuinely loves Cersei though and has let himself be manipulated by her their whole lives. I’m really hoping he ends up being the Valonquor and choking her out cause she has it coming
Idk why but it felt safest when robert was king
jesus tyrion ate her tf up 😭
Cersei was so mean to him
Another good clip. I’m reading the books from the start for the 10th time (or it’s the 11th? I’m confused like littlefinger at his process) and i watch your channel every day. Still hoping to hear the what we are all waiting for: “Did you know The Winds of Winter is coming?”
Tiron was soo accurate af 😂😂😂 he roasted her more than thr drag 😂😂😂
Lol headass "you will call me by my husband's rank" type vibes 😂
So Tyrion just called "violent, selfish and crazy" 😂
Eh no. You've misread that. Cersei describes at great length how she feels that she and Jamie are two halves of one person, and she feels complete when she is with Jaime.
Because she’s a narcissist.
Yeah she’s a narcissist just like how she sees herself in Joffrey being the eldest and testing her other kids like they don’t really matter. And when Jamie came back with one hand she ridiculed him because she only saw Jamie for what she isn’t a man in power like Tywin
You literally described a narcissistic thing and called it love. Lmao.
You couldn't be more wrong
I think the show does a pretty good job of showing that all of Cersei’s “love” is rooted in narcissism
Aw, they were so adorable as children!
Tryion was the one who should have been King.
I didnt get the first two king references but when i heard as wise as mad aerys i understood
The narcissism definitely came across in the HBO series
Hey what is the background song? It’s beautiful
So when Robert was doing the nasty with Cercei, he was actually doing the Kingslayer?
Telling that the 3 people Tyrion compares Cersei to are all Targaryens
Really enjoy these edits
Fun fact: identical twins are always of the same sex ; you can't have identical twins with different sexes.
Tyrions comparisons of Targaryen kings to Cersei is a clever way of hinting that she is a Targaryen
If I remember correctly, Cersei in the early seasons wore lots of red and there was only one moment I can remember where she wore a green/teal dress. I love the red outfits but now wish they added more green garments. I do get why they didn’t since Cerseis actress doesn’t have green eyes (I think)
Then you realize, if Tyrion wasn't crippled and didn't kill his mother, he would've EASILY been Tywin's favorite
He wouldn't have been as smart though. His only shield was to get smart, his siblings didn't have to
Would've been so nice to point that out when she burned the Tyrells... Could've made it so that the entire of the south rebelled and tryion comments that phrase about her being stupid again
Cersei and Jamie’s relationship is messed up in the books and the show
Can you say, "twin flame"?
🤔🔥🔥
LOL those 3 descriptions
What’s the instrumental music you’re using?
It is technically a form of self pleasure when the two sleep together.
Jerome flynns ex wife.
If you never noticed before go bk and rewatch the whole series they dont have any scenes together because the actress that plays cersi refused too do any scenes with him.😮😂
Honestly that’s how I saw their relationship. But that does make me wonder, how many twins actually had that thought, sleeping with each other because they see it as sleeping with themselves
Even in the show I always felt Cersei didn’t love Jamie, it was control.
In book she wear Green 💚,
In serial , it's Red that is her favorite, most worn
They are twins and yes it could be nothing but narcissism. That is she is indulging in narcissism, for him he's pleasuring himself the best way possible that is if you could ever get her to stop being neurotic look for that she would have to be comfortable in her own skin
The 5th non-TV adaptation picture of cerci there is EXACTLY how I imagined her in the books. That’s actually creepy. I’ve never seen an image capture something so close to how I imagined it in my head. Weird. Closest thing was a picture I saw a while ago of Logan’s dozen from the first law. So just a drawing of Logen Ninefingers, Black Dow, Rudd Threetrees, Harding Grim, The Dogman, Forley the Weakest, and Tull Duru the Thunderhead. That also captured their vibes pretty well. But not as well as this did for cerci.
Artists credits, PLEASE
I know this isn't technically about the subject, but that artwork chosen for the thumbnail, is perfect in so many ways that -as an artist myself- it physically hurts me.
She's such a bombshell in that first image
I think it was only Cersei that displayed this level of narcissism. Jaime was many things, some of which were not so good, but a narcissist wasn’t one of them, and I do think he actually loved Cersei, or thought he did, even his concept of love is incredibly messed up
Nah Jamie was def a narcissist just not to the same level as cerci she takes the cake when it comes to that.
"sleeping with themselves"
"It's all oure narcissism"
That's not the first thing I think
“All pure NARCISM” lmao
Cersei wearing orange dress to her sons wedding:
*thats why she always wear green dress*
I interpret it like this:
Cersei loves Jaime because of her narcissism. Meanwhile, Jaime loves Cersei because he can only love fellow Lannisters (which is why he's the only one who also loves Tyrion).
Wouldnt be great to be able to read the rest of it.
Cersei gets her head shaved by the Faith.
Jaime: So you're just copying me now?
Yeah I've even written an answer on Quora about who is more like Tywin
Does anyone know the exact art piece that comes up in 0:31?
That narcissism was not true for Jamie. Cersei saw in him a reflection of her power and malice, he might not have realized it until after he knew Brienne but he loved her because he sympathized with what she had been through and wanted to hurt the world that hurt her.
It's just like i said before...dating Cersei is like dating a Kardashian: it can destroy your mental health, it can reduce your IQ temporary (and tactically) and subsecquently ruin your life...and just for what? getting laid at expenses of your boss? God damn it, Jaime!!
