** PERSONAL STORY TIME ** (8/9/2022)
For starters, what I can say is that not many movies have managed to bring me to tears. In fact, there aren't any at all that have managed to make me full-on cry. But the death of Gwen Stacy in 'The Amazing Spider-Man 2' was definitely a very close first. The chemistry they had, they way it all just happened, the fact that Andrew Garfield & Emma Stone were together in real life... Just so many little things that added up, including the conflict & later resolution they had in the movie itself, all for it to be taken away in a very avoidable way. I don't think I realized how much I was a fan of their whole dynamic until I was forced to understand that it could also be taken away.
It was also one of the things that helped me understand character death as a writer, and how sometimes it's necessary in order to move on in the development of the character or story.
Moving on to the fate of the franchise: Like anyone else, I wasn't a fan of the idea of starting over. I would've rather had a Sam Raimi 'Spider-Man 4' than a new Spidey altogether, but once I watched the film for the first time and the different direction it took, I guess you could say I had a whole new appreciation for the opportunities given in reboots. I thought that Andrew was a better look for the role, the suit was unique, and his acting/writing as both Peter & Spidey were perfect. It was a superior fandom, in my book, and therefore my favorite. With that being said, you can only imagine my outrage when I learned that the third installment wasn't happening over such trivial matters.
The quality of the sequel is a different conversation that we don't need to have, but despite everything that it had going on, I thought it was a masterpiece. Right on a par with the original, if not better.
Anywho, The Amazing Spider-Man franchise had an opportunity to be saved, if you were to ask me. All it took was one great execution of the third installment, but it was stripped away! Leaving behind a bad taste in the mouths of the fanbase. And as a result, the entire franchise was dogged out. Andrew wasn't favored as a Spidey, the first film started receiving less of it's deserved recognition, and overall it was defaulted to the inferior of the three iterations. Can't say I was a fan of that at all. So you can only IMAGINE; my relief & utmost appreciation when the continuity got it's redemption in Spider-Man: No Way Home with the story of Peter 3!
I only see positive things up ahead. #MakeTASM3 *PERSONAL STORY TIME COMPLETED*

I love Andrew. Andrew had the saddest history all the ones he loved died. This makes me cry every time
Tom too. He lost his uncle, aunt, his mentor Tony Stark, who was like a father to him. And his girlfriend and best friend forgot about him. But I get why people feel Andrew has the saddest.

I remember seeing this scene in theaters and I bawled. It showed how much Andrews' Spiderman thought about that moment over and over and over, it was so powerful
im pretty sure anyone who grew up watching tobys and Andrews spiderman cried atleast 10 times this move. sad and happy. all spiderman movies r emotional but this one took the cake by far
I remember not caring XD
I just can't stand his knees on the landing lol looks so bad
Me too, I cried so so much..
I watched it in theaters too. When Andrew caught Zendaya, my whole theater (me included) erupted in cheer. This was a POWERFUL moment, incredibly impactful. I love it, and I'm glad they gave us this
This is such a clever scene. Even though the Amazing Spider-Man movies weren't the best, everyone loves Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man and really feels like he's owed some redemption.
Amazing way to tie everything together.
I didn't like the AG Spiderman movies originally but they have really grown on me.
I don't think I will ever like Tom Holland though. He is more of a Spiderboy. This last movie was only tolerable due to TM and AG making an appearance.
Spiderman has always been my favorite hero. 2nd to Hulk. I grew up reading my dad's old comics.
💯❤️🔥😎
Andrew absorbs the entire impact for MJ with his legs. Hits hard and takes all the momentum..because Andrew learns from his mistakes😢
He spent years running through what happened in his mind and thinking about what he could have done differently. This scene is so powerful.
it's like he got a chance to do what he couldn't before
Ya I agree, this was his second chance to save someone else’s Gwen. In a way I’m sure it gave him some closure.
So much so that I immediately broke in tears and I don’t cry very easily or often
I was literally about to say the same exact thing 😅
it makes it so much more powerful when you realize this is probably the first time he’s felt like a hero since she died so not only did he get a second chance but he finally knows what it’s like to be a hero again
The way he made sure she was in his arms before trying the web, he didn’t want it to happen again :(
Yep. And technically, any catch from that height would be the equivalent of still falling on the ground. So I'm glad he slowed her down or else it wouldn't matter 🥲
The cgi really ruins it

Him saving MJ redeemed himself a little bit of his Gwen.. but it also reminded him of Gwen in that exact moment he had lost her.. his tears will never stop falling for her.
That was my favorite part of No Way Home. It shows that Andrew still feels regret and sadness about Gwen’s death. Gwen’s death was truly the saddest Spider-Man moment of all time. 😢
I actually got emotional during that part. You could tell just how much he never wanted Peter to suffer the way he has.
They are all named Peter.

The theatre experience of this is unmatched
I'm glad he had a chance to redeem himself.
The way Andrew engulfs Zendaya in his arms as if to die with her, as if to make sure he at least had her, before saving them both tells me so much about how he felt the first time... I absolutely love this scene
I was thinking the same thing
nah he just knew that if he repeated the same mistake again Tom would have lost control and went all out revenge (plus maguire Spiderman would have had to deal with seeing someone die in front of him again and go into ptsd mode)
Jesus this has me sobbing at 6am
Your comment made me cry. Poor kid.
Yeah to a comment above. With gwen she died before hitting the floor. The web actually was bad. So to not repeat the mistake
He nailed the acting in this one. And the scene is absolutely perfection. The emotion you could feel in your soul, cut deep.
He's a great actor in my opinion.
Truly deserved the academy's nomination for best actor with 'Tic tic boom' .
It is true
Phenomenal acting
This guy is a gem in the acting world, u can see he feels for real what he is supposed to in every movie he stars in
He was really good in "Hacksaw Ridge"
That scene is epic, I love that he got a second chance to feel that he is not a failure… Its so sad and so beautiful at the same time.
Maybe you can't save your love but you can save someone from feeling the pain of losing theirs
Fun fact: Zendaya’s “are you okay?” was improvised. Makes this 10x better 😭😭😭❤️❤️
Yes Andrew said that he was trying to portray the idea, "I think I just saved you, I think I did. And I need you to tell me that I did. Because I'm not seeing you in my arms right now, I'm seeing Gwen not breathing in my arms right now."
So when Zendaya improvised the, "Are you ok?" It brought it full circle.
As Andrew stated, "You kind of feel Gwen's hand on Peter's back a little bit going, 'You can rest now'. There's that cosmic thing that happens."'
😭😭😭

the most beautiful part of this scene is that they didn’t need a flashback or a direct reminder, they just needed a couple lines of dialogue and great visual storytelling
Yeah but a flashback would’ve also been cool. Get us more emotionally invested in it if that makes sense. There’s are lot of ways they could’ve done this
@tylerrojas3565 Yeah but you don't always need to be told things. I guarantee you that if they added a flashback then it would've made that moment hit WAY less. But if you were to just drive the point home I'd have Gwen put her hand on Andrew's shoulder but that's all you see of her, and when he goes to look she's gone.
I agree saw the movie years ago and when she went to save her, heart was pounding no flashback needed. That memory never fades @oscilao

He relived this moment so many times in his head that he knew exactly what to do this time. Poor Andrew.
It's even sadder when you realize how broken he was by Gwen's death and that this was a form of redemption and to prevent the young Peter from experiencing the same pain he had to feel himself...
I feel so sorry for hik and the fact he had to go through that pain
Even sadder when he admits to stop having pulled punches. The terror he must have become to his enemies.

That’s the whole point…
yea but bro just stopped a cannon event, peters gwen is always spouse to die, in every time line, this is probably one of the things that’s started the whole series with the new marvel movies.
I can personally say, he portrays the sadness and hurt in both those scenes perfectly. it's hard not to cry from past memories when I watch this scene
God, watching this again is both tortuous and cathartic all at once.

This makes me emotional great acting. She could sense that he's been here before.
It broke me when the scene happened.
He couldn't save the love of his life but saved the love of the life of one of his counterparts. And acting was phenomenal the fear on his face when he thought he'd fail again is top tier.
Thx for explaining this that’s so sad so it’s a different Peter Parker in another universe who he lost Gwen
The best part is that Zendaya asking Andrew if he was okay was completely unscripted because Andrew was working overtime to not cry.
Honestly I love how they incorporated this scene ! It gave Andrew his redemption he so deserved!!!
There's no redemption, she still died even if he saved another, he failed.
@@nicholassharp3799 Gwen dying is the fault of the writers not of Andrew.

@@nicholassharp3799do you need to have a talk?
каждый раз рыдаю от этой сцены😢
Imagine how many times Peter had re-run that scenario in his head, imagining what he could have done differently to save Gwen. When he executed that move, it was with perfect form, like he'd seen it in his head a thousand times. And he's so happy he saved MJ, but he's also hit with that wave of sadness, because he realizes that if he'd caught Gwen and webbed the building to slow *himself* down, he could have saved her, too. So even in this moment where he does something wonderful, he can't stop beating himself up for not saving Gwen.
The pain in his eyed when he remenber everything about Gwen, just the most sadness moment in the Spider-verse
The acting here is simply phenomenal. Andrew did wonderfully
He did love her in real life..too or once. ❤
What's phenomenal is that Andrew gets so into his characters that he takes on their emotional distress. MJ asking Andrew's Peter if he was okay was an unscripted exchange between Zendaya and Andrew that made it into the movie because Andrew was legitimately struggling not to break down into tears. That's commitment to your craft as an actor.

A real saddest moment in anyone's life is we are watching the person we love is slowly going away forever and we can't do anything to keep him with us. Really helpless feeling.
I can understand his pain because I faced it in my life with my baby and it totally broke me.😭😭😭
I remember how I screamed when she fell and the callback happened, I started crying with my friend and we were holding hands and just praying she didn’t die. When Tom missed her the entire theater went silent, and then Andrew jumped, I screamed “not again!” Before he caught her before using his webs to save them. When they touched down the entire room was alight with applause and crying.
And I had never felt so much emotionally over a movie until that scene.
I don't know why but Andrew's TASM 2 really moved me in a way no other comic or even action romantic movie ever has. When Gwen died, and he mourned, I literally felt as if I was mourning too.
