Paul, I love what you do and have done. I'm praying for your speedy recovery. Several of my viewers also watch a lot of your videos and I too am a shop rat.
Paul, to me one of the most important things you've done is sharing much of your expertise with younger people, and the public in general. I hate when someone spends their life discovering, learning and refining certain techniques, only for all that incredible knowledge and skill to inevitably get lost one day. I have a lotta respect for people like you who are willing to share so openly. Thank you.
Paul, get better, that's an order! I'm always telling people how I love your videos because you have so much experience and knowledge and how good you are at communicating that experience/knowledge. I plan on flying over from Norway sometime this fall too work on my landspeed bike and would love to see you and your shop. Get well!
Paul, I am a former bike racer, and occasional hobby steel framebuilder. Back in December at age 54 I was diagnosed with acute leukemia and spent the next 7 months away from home getting chemotherapy (3x), total body radiation, and finally a stem cell transplant. I spent a lot of time in hospitals and recovering far away from my family, dogs and workshop before I was rid of the cancer and finally able to go home. Your channel content has been great entertainment and watching your active recovery from leukemia was great inspiration for my own fight. Best wishes getting past the setback of the relapse, take plenty of rest!
Hey Paul, I was a professional bike mechanic and musician for several years before pivoting towards a career as a machinist at a job shop....now I'm dipping my toes into the world of frame building. Once a shop rat, always a shop rat. I always appreciate your coolness towards teaching the basics, thanks for all of your tribal knowledge and great attitude. You look great!!! -T
Thank you for the update. Your positive attitude dealing with your situation is inspiring and humbling. "Shop Talk/Stories" with your friends and fabricators is a great idea! All the ideas are excellent! Prayers for your health. Go Paul and Mitch, keep moving forward!
You’ve got spunk Paul! To be upbeat & driven even when dealing with your challenge is inspiring. Showing us what you do in the shop has been wonderful. Just talking about your experiences there will be generous too. We’re cheering for you.
Great that you have been able to put something out, I’m glad to watch anything cycle, motorbikes, or Bass for that matter all are interesting. The main thing for you is your health, and I with you well.
it is always facinateing to talk about moments that made us, mechanicks and fabricators, humble. Moments when we tought we know stuff and can do and we were thrown back to learning and trying again. Please share!
I really wish you all the best in beating this and making a fully recovery. As for shops or sheds or even hobby rooms I think they can be very powerful things. They can almost be the reason for living and not only do you produce things but the shop helps keep you mentally healthy. My little model engineering shop is where I relax and get a lot of enjoyment. I am retired now but when i worked it helped with escaping the pressures of work by solving entirely different problems and creating things. They can also earn you a lot of extra cash, back in the 80's I made two traction engine models. I built two as it was not that much more effort than making one, especially when machines were set up. I sold the second for a healthy sum of money which funded more stuff for the workshop.
I have already learned a wealth of knowledge about frame building from this channel. Both your ideas sound great and if that gives you that time to heal we will keep watching.
Been a fellow shop rat my whole life. Just take care of yourself and keep doing what you do Paul. I always learn something new watching what you're doing. You're a great friend and an inspiration to shop rats everywhere. Get well soon man...
I bet a lot of us aspire to having a setup as great as yours, and certainly personally having a long way to go I think it would be cool to hear about the evolution of your shop over the years, how it has grown and changed. Always great to hear your stories, tips and advice. Best of luck with the treatment!
Thanks for taking the time (and your energy) to give an update. I love watching your projects unfold & you(and Mitch) taking us along the journey. All those topics you mention regarding the shop would be very interesting. Wishing you an abundance of energy!! Take care of yourself & keep up the good work guys!
Paul, you’re an inspiration! Thanks for all the ‘shop’ videos, they’re calming and informative. They make my think, I could do that too… I wish you all the best with your treatment and hope to see a fully recovered Paul soon. I’ll watch anything you upload!
Happy to see you upbeat in your shop :) The Shop talk, Shop organisation and Shop mindset are great ideas! Why not have them all in the channel! Having 3 or 4 different shows within the same channel will make it interesting for the viewers and also give you the flexibility to put out different content based on your convenience.
Oh man, whishing you all the best for recovery. Sometimes life is like boxing, you get knocked but you decide, to get back. Good to see you in the shop. You have so much knowledge about making things out of metal and it's always the biggest thing watching you making metal art. To me it's always like learning in school, but with fun. Hope, you stay tuned. 🤙
Hey Mr Brodie!!!🙌🙌🙌 I just want to thank you! You have motivated and inspired me to build bicycles and your Brazing 101 videos were the ground work for my gas welding skills. I always return to them. I am excited for when you are back and feeling strong enough to take on another job in the shop!🙏 Sending strength, prayers and good thoughts your way
Hang in there Paul! I've been mig and tig welding for years but never filet brazed, your videos helped me pick it up. Keep sharing your knowledge and inspiration and helping people to make cool stuff!
I've been watching you and your shop for years. You don't have to tell me that you are one with your shop. Your work is beautiful and functional. Clearly you love the whole experience of working in the shop. All the best to you in your recovery.
These videos are total gold dust. You are 100% right about shop flow and the relationship between work and the environment. These things are fluid and inextricable.
All the shop video ideas sound great. You are an artist and the shop is your studio. My favorite moments are when your experience and muscle memory allow you to eyeball a measurement or troubleshoot intuitively and efficiently. I get shop vibes when I watch, like I’m sitting on a stool in the corner. Thanks for inviting us in!
Hi Paul, As someone who has had biking be a major part of their life for decades now, I still look up to you as a pioneer of design & craftsmanship. From my early days working in bike shops in the early '90s right up to today I am envious when I see a rider on a vintage Brodie, & I hope one day to find one of those beautiful hand made bikes to call my own. I love the idea of shop talk, & I'd always wanted to document some of the wild & crazy stories from my bike shop days, or race weekends, or just riding. If I'm out west to your area, I'd love to share some of those stories. Wishing you a strong recovery & healthy future. Nick.
Hi Paul, I really enjoy your videos, thank you very much for that. Now to your health, the most important thing for you right now, take some long relaxing walks in the forest, don' worry about anything. I hope for your fast recovery, all the best !
Like probably all here, I admire and appreciate your bicycle building skills (not a fan of motorcycles, sorry), but much more than that I like you as person. You're kind, sharing, warm and wise. Wishing only good things for you, Paul.
Shop organization would be an awesome topic. I'm building/rethinking my own tiny basement shop lately, and your shop and way of doing things are so well thought out and organized. I think we'd all enjoy and benefit from hearing about your ideas and methods around that. Your calm and positivity in the face of a discouraging health setback are inspiring as well. Thank you Paul.
Happy to see an update and I hope you get well fast and beat that cancer! Maybe on top of shop flow videos you could do a deep dive into your shop tools and "furniture" explain why your main workbench was built the way it was and why you chose the vise on it, what's in the cabinet for your mill, why you own the things you do and how they work for you. Another idea could be Mitch being your hands and building things as you guide him through the process, could be fun to watch you teach someone how to make the things you want to be making.
Hi Paul, glad to see you making videos. I would love to get a tour of your entire motorcycle collection. I think I’ve seen a BMW and maybe a Ducati in the background. Looking forward to whatever content you put up. Cheers
Sorry to hear of your health troubles Paul. I haven't got any ideas but i do know that whatever you and Mitch produce will be worth spending my time watching I hope you recover soon - all the best
Great to see you back Paul..I hope you are healthy and will stay that way for the longest time to make your excellent motorcycle content. . which I really enjoy..❤❤.. Edit.. I and most of your viewers would listen to you on any topic... Suggestions... Early inspiration for my motorcycle innovation and engineering.. My biggest shop success.. My biggest shop disaster.. So you want to start an engineering shop..?? Here's some pointers. These 5 tools are vital.. A note to my teenage self.. My vision for the future of bicycle design.. Stay well and healthy... Lots of people want your talent on their computer and phone..
Paul you are in my thoughts and prayers during this time. I pray for a speedy recovery. I know I will continue to access your channel for valuable information regardless of the changes that are made because I view you as having a ton of experience, passion, and, knowledge that can be passed on. I’m so thankful you’re willing to share your talents with all of us….
Good to see you back Paul. Hope you're getting better and stronger. I would to see some design stuff that can be applied to those of us in the non-cycle world. For example, how to design a good welding trolley, acetylene trolley, lathe tool-holder storage, tig torch stand, 2x72-type belt grinder, storage solution, shop crane, etc. Hope that's useful, get well soon. BTW I loved the brazing 101 vid, I watched that one multiple times as I learnt with my own rig. Thank you!
Thanks for sharing what you do, very inspirational! People that have taught me most in life were experts in their craft, like you. I've been lucky to work with a few over the years. I personally love your knowledge of bike frames, tooling, design, construction, attention to detail, and seeming ability to make nearly anything from scratch... etc. And double thanks to Mitch for bringing it to YT because I never would have otherwise known all these wonderful things!! Paul, pass along what you have mastered over time. Skills that can't be bought with money, but rather are earned with experience. Best wishes with your recovery!! I'll be here to watch the videos as long as you're posting them. Thanks.
I wish you the best! I wish you well! Your impact is very important, seismic. Great contribution! Great content! Thank you for sharing your knowledge in all the great videos! I look forward for the next videos.
Glad to hear you’re continuing to get better, and still able to share the knowledge you have mastered over the years. One thing I’d love to hear about is your involvement in the observed trials community and the different trials projects you’ve worked on over the years. My father has a ‘67 Mountain Cub, and we both really enjoyed following the build, and would love to hear an update on yours. Thanks Paul and Mitch, keep getting better and thanks for all the amazing content! ❤
Paul you have plenty of good stories to tell! Even if you cannot do any machining you have a life full of experience to share. Interviewing other artisans sounds really good too!
Dear Paul Brodie! Glad to see and hear you talk about your passion of being a shop guy! It is always interesting to follow your shared expertise and experience! In my mind both of it is very welcome to listen to, because you’re always super prepared and organized, which is very inspiring! All the best for your health!!!
Shop talk is a great idea, interviewing or just casually talking about the bike related world with friends and people you've worked with seems such a good idea. You can make an edited video and also maybe release a rough podcast even! You have many interesting stories I bet... well, we *know* 👍
Thank you for the update, and for all you've contributed and have been willing to share. A close family member is years into a fight with cancer, your struggles with it are something we can understand and empathize with to one extent - but your willingness to continue to give back in whatever avenue you're able is very admirable and inspiring. Personally, I've come back to your channel over the years as I slowly inch my way toward building my first frame, and I'd most like to see interviews with your friends in the industry. There is such a deep well of knowledge held by the unique individuals that build bike frames and it would be amazing to have you interview them. Thank you, and thanks Mitch!
I would love to hear about your shop organisation, how you conceived it, how it evolved, and also some nice little details you built over time that made your shop YOURS. And of course, I hope deeeply you'll recover fast :-) thanks for everything ! Kind regards
Hope you get back to normal soon Paul. As for ideas for content not requiring physical work, maybe a shop tour , because most of us with a shop are interested in machinery and tools that others use. A brief chat about each machine, or important item of equipment, what you have used it for, how you acquired it and if it was the right choice or would you buy a different make/ specification if you were replacing it and maybe some interesting jobs you did with it…. Good luck and wishing you all the very best from UK
Stay strong! The shop stories would be cool, but really, whatever you want to talk about when you feel in the mood to do so, I'm sure many of us would enjoy listening.
Great to you you post and check in! From someone who just came out of remission for a second time, I can relate to your calendar and days. I have yet to see a video of yours I didn't want to watch, so I'm open to anything subject wise you post. I am wondering what some of your favorite music to listen to in the shop is. Take care Paul! Beat it like it owes you money.
Paul, I love what you do and have done. I'm praying for your speedy recovery. Several of my viewers also watch a lot of your videos and I too am a shop rat.

Positive vibes from Tasmania, Australia. Keep fighting Paul, you can overcome this latest hurdle
Australia! Thank you for making contact :)

If Paul’s meticulous note keeping with projects is anything to go on, I’m sure the toolboxes have a great system.
Love to see shop organization and other unique and useful tools. Get well soon, Paul!
I’m hopeful that this treatment works out for you, you have an enormous amount of knowledge to share with the world
Thanks Kevin. I am doing my best to stay healthy!

Hi Paul, glad to see you making videos. I would love to get a tour of your entire motorcycle collection. I think I’ve seen a BMW and maybe a Ducati in the background. Looking forward to whatever content you put up. Cheers
Thanks Leif... You're not the Leif who owned a trick Norton race bike back in the early 70's are you? I do not own a BMW or a Ducati currently...
Great to see you Paul.
Sorry to hear of your health troubles Paul.
I haven't got any ideas but i do know that whatever you and Mitch produce will be worth spending my time watching
I hope you recover soon - all the best

Wishing you the best Paul, looking forward to when you're better and are back in your shop.
Thanks 👍 Nik, Yes, I do want to spend more time my shop, and that is a Good Sign...
Thank you!
all the best on your recovery, I'm glad to have you back. Shop interviews sounds interesting
Best wishes and keep your chin up☕🍻👍🙏
Thank you, All the Best :)

Thanks Paul and Mitch, keep getting better and thanks for all the amazing content! ❤
Hoping your fight lends you more time to do the things you love. We love watching you work, Paul (through Mitch's lens). Best wishes.
Great to hear your thoughts! thanks for the update, Paul. take care :)
Paul you have plenty of good stories to tell! Even if you cannot do any machining you have a life full of experience to share. Interviewing other artisans sounds really good too!
God bless you !!!
Thinking of you, Looking fwd to seeing you back at it again.
You are a great guy Paul! Thanks for sharing your thoughts and life wisdom with us👍. Wish you well.
thanks Claus!
Paul you have all our love from Australia
So good to hear from you again, (courtesy of Mitch). Keep strong and do your best with your recovery: you are loved and respected.
Shop talk is a great idea, interviewing or just casually talking about the bike related world with friends and people you've worked with seems such a good idea.

Hey Paul! It’s so nice to see you. I love your idea for videos on workflow in the shop and interviewing others.
Get well soon!!!
Best wishes Paul!
Hope you are ok Paul! Good luck, tough to stop tinkering! It’s a life!

Take care Paul!
Beat it like it owes you money.
