Used to have a red Model X 100D with 6 seat and white interior, but went with a Model Y performance when we changed in December… we absolutely loved our Model X, and in my opinion this new Model X is better than the Model Y in almost every way (except maybe sporty driving). The falcon wing doors are absolutely amazing when you have to load in and out of the car, also children. However.. it costs more than twice as much here in Norway, and while it is amazing, I am not sure it is worth more than twice as much, 50% more would make more sense in my opinion.
I've never driven an X, but I do agree that the Model Y likely handles better since it's smaller and built on the model 3 platform. I'm sure the model X is no slouch in terms of handling.
Tesla should consider changing the Model X to the length of a minivan. This would provide more battery capacity, increased range, and additional interior space, allowing them to capture a larger market share in the minivan segment. It's important to retain the unique wing doors as they contribute to the vehicle's distinct identity.
For your question at 4:30 i have to say, with pricing changes in the US i was considering the Model Y much more than i though i would when cross-shopping with the Ford Mach E. I know the Tesla has more range (only long range in the US) and more efficiency, but the interior is what sealed the deal. It just feels like a box with a monitor, a steering wheel and seats. If they had a HUD or even a small display like in Mach E I might have gone for it, but if I wanted a high price and less features i would just buy a Porsche 🤣

Such a great review - thanks Thomas. I am a MYP owner today, and have considered an upgrade to the MXP. Your review confirms a lot of my own perceptions, and I would add the MXP weighs very nearly 1,000 lbs more than the MYP! And so the fun factor goes down as weight goes up. I like the air suspension, seats and big windshield of the MX but far prefer the size/weight, agility and fun of the MY, at half the cost.
@@theokteamathalsteadpropert9854 Three things: first, it will depend on what you're used to. Second, a lot of the reviews are misplaced now - there was a recent change to the Model Y and MYP (search Comfort Suspension) that added compliance. Further, there have been a number of changes over time, so reviews of MY or MYP using cars older than about Nov '22 are no longer relevant. Third, my 2/21 build felt too firm with the Pirelli summer rubber, but the Michelin Pilot All Seasons I put on were a game-changer, which is possibly a part of what's now called Comfort Suspension.
I agree on the steering setting in sport on model Y. On which car to choose. Right now.. If you pick 22" wheels on the X, then you can buy 3 TMY performance for the same price in Denmark. I would take a TMY LR for everyday and a TM3 performance and tweak it with Öhlins suspension and better brakes for fun😊 or go for a model S Plaid. That should do the corners better than the X. Or just the TMY performance and invest the rest.
Could you pls test and compare ride quality with Model Y Long Range (Berlin made) with 19" wheels? Is it noticeable improvement over the Performance/21"?
The suspension communication is more interesting in use, ime. Why? Because of the high quality of the seat comfort. So, you are aware of the bumpiness of the road surface. The high complexity level of seat comfort reduces the physical impact on me. I can enjoy the driving involvement experience without it tiring me. Is there room for better mapping of the high-speed compression damping? Yes.
How is the steering feel, feedback? Obviously not in the realm of hydraulic steering a la Mclaren. Comparable to Porsche? Mazda? Would you describe the steering as a natural feel or is it closer to numb steering? If the steering feel can be at least half as good as Porsche, that's a win.
Would love the 6 seat MX for our family! I have non-refresh and definitely prefer having the old gear/wiper stalks on the steering wheel. Also, they really need handles to help people get in and out. My mom and grandparents require them to help get into a vehicle so it’s a huge negative for me. This is an all Tesla issue.
I think the model Y and 3 interior is cool and clean. I have a model 3 and love it. Every time i now sit in a BMW or Volvo for example I find it has too much clutter and buttons.
Where i live you could buy 3 model y performance for the same Price as 1 model x plaid and still save some money. The reason we pay tax according to the Price from the factory Price of the car.
Is Tesla a premium brand? More premium than VW, that's for sure. I had a few VWs and they all had hard plastic somewhere (the Jetta and Golf Plus literally everywhere), some noise or rattle and something not working. So Tesla is a better VW IMO, the materials Tesla uses are better nowadays than VW. Anyway, I care more about things like safety, efficiency, performance, range, charging and user interaction which Tesla is also the best. I personally don't care about luxury and on 1000 km road trips Teslas are totally comfortable for me. I find it strange that people have 50 franc IKEA chairs in their living rooms and somehow need crazy massage seats for the 15 minute drive to the grocery store... I'll take a Tesla minimalist interior over a strip club benz interior any day. Other EV owners are afraid of road trips, other ICE owners are afraid of anything with a PLAID emblem... but ok let's go nuts over some trunk carpet that I always cover with a full trunk protection rubber mat anyway... that's why German brands are behind, they focus on pointless details then get left behind on what matters: the technology, the charging experience, the efficiency and of course reliability. Have a look at all the tycans with failing heating systems...
Model Y perf is more suitable in Eu - model X is simply oversized for our roads and parking. Only thing missing in the Y is a driver display. I still can't use to always look at the central display for any driving information
It has been a year since this comment and the pricing for a Model X Plaid in the US is $94,990 (€89,020) and the model Y Performance is $53,490 (€50,128). So either the prices have gone way down or you guys are being shafted by tax in the EU.
@@stefanvdw7895 Yes, a year seems like a lot for Tesla prices. The entry-level M3 model now costs €42,000. The x Plaid about €110k. All taxes included. I don't think Tesla buyers will be happy that they bought their Tesla a while ago. It's all about the invasion of Chinese EVs flooding the market.
I've had two Y loaners when my MXP was in for service (post delivery issues). The Y may feel more agile but it's a distance second to the MXP in handling when you put the suspension into Very Low and Sport. It out corners and out handles the Y in any combination of short and long radius turns.....especially on not so perfect roads where the Y feels like it's going to skitter off the road. The Y's suspension is just too stiff yet the MXPs suspension is more compliant and predictable in hard cornering. Is it worth twice the MYP? Not for most. A better comparison might be the MYP with the MLR since the MLR will still out acceleration the MYP from highway roll (not from a dead stop though) and costs quite a bit less.
We have a Tesla Model Y (with acceleration pkg add-on) and by no means is it a perfect vehicle but for us it is perfect blend of sporty driving, performance and more importantly utility. For an SUV with a small footprint it has a deceivingly large amount of storage and cargo space. Much bigger than my previous BMW X5 which has a larger overall exterior dimensions. The X is out of the question for us as we go skiing a lot and need to put a roof box on top.
Рік тому+1
I've been driving the X Plaid for nearly two months now and I have to say, it was a breeze to get used to the yoke-style steering wheel. It also provides a better view of the dashboard and I don't see what all the fuss is about. However, the buttons to activate the turn signals took a bit longer to get the hang of. I was surprised that this wasn't more widely mentioned. On the highway, it's not a problem, but when it comes to turning out of a roundabout, that's when you need to activate the right turn signal, and the button can be somewhere between 6 or 3 o'clock, depending on the size of the roundabout. With some practice, you learn to locate them by feel, as they are located on the left spoke of the yoke. This is where the yoke-style wheel really shines - you always know where the spokes are, as that's where your hands are. This makes it easier to find the turn signal buttons without having to look. On the other hand, if you opt for a traditional circular steering wheel, it might be more difficult. In my opinion, it would be a mistake.
Like your coordinated clothing style for this review - monochrome like the cars, black top white trousers. I miss old style traditional buttons. Not a fan of the large single touch screen doing everything.
Thank you good job :) Test drove a model Y and the X Plaid today. At 6'2" doing long road trips in the Y isn't going to work... now if we could get the model X seat in the Y ;) Also found the model Y steering to be too twitchy, too sensitive, for a mellow long road trip... and that in "comfort" rather than "sport" mode. But the price difference... ugh. How to justify or cash flow the extra cost? Hmmm :)
Hello I don't know if you can but it will be awesome if you can compare suspensions of model y performance to the long range version 2023 of course. I am in the middle of buying one of the two. And your input will be amazing. 🙂
@@autogefuehl I heard that the 2023 model y long range has the new comfort suspension. So I just wanted to know if it's a big difference with the performance model y 2023.
Good review. i had the model y long range for more than 2 yrs, love the size of it, very practical, good storage space, ride smoothly on flat roads, but really don't like it without the digital cluster in the front, i found it very distractive to look at the map in the center screen everytime. also it's kind of bumpy on the rough roads. Was thinking to upgrade to MX for better comfort level and with the digital cluster, but i hate the yoke (didn't have the normal one option when i planned to order), and the falcon wing doors just look good but not practical, also as you mentioned, it's double the price of MY, which i don't think it's justify. So i shopped around with other EVs, and finally got the BMW IX50 in jan. So far it's very great, the OTA and softeware is not up to Tesla's level yet, but it's much more comfortable, feel safer to drive with all the pre-acciedent alert, 360 degree camera and so on. i am happy and no regret 🙂
I have BMW X5 I want to trade for Tesla, which model do you recommend, Y Performance, or X plaid. I want to use i daily to work around 60 miles a day. Thank you very much.
@@autogefuehl They upgraded MYLR 2023 (German made) to a better ride, more sophisticated suspension, so in my opinion if you want more confort ride the MYLR with 19" (or even 20" if you like better looks) should ride better than MYP with 21". Also for more performance on MYLR you can always get the acceleration boost from the app, that will decrease your acceleration 0-100km/h from 5s to 4.4s (same figure as M3LR without the boost) which should be plenty for majority of people. Of course MYP has also improved brakes, so if you value more performance that would be the way to go.
I'd rather feel everything than a car to so devoid of road feel and noise that I'd fall asleep from boredom. Cars which are floaty and cacooned, soo quiet, and as solid as a tank lack charm, character, and fun. I need to feel something when I drive. If you can have fun with these two cars, that's half the battle and knowing is half of the battle...G.I. Joeeeeee!
Great video as usual! After watching it a couple times, I watched it at 0.5x speed... Give it a try, you will thank me later! Feels like Thomas had a few drinks :-)))
I'm all for Cool and clean Thomas , I think there are too many cars with too many distractions these days . Tesla have got it right in my humble opinion and i think personally i would get used to driving a Tesla very Quickly . 🙏🙏👌👌💯💯👍👍
A half steering wheel is something that belongs to a DeLorean in Back to the future. IMO it looks ridiculous and have no advantage compared to a normal steering wheel. Maybe Tesla will offer half wheels in the future 😂
the advantage to the yoke is full view of screen directly in front of the driver so nothing is being cut off. it also forces you to take hand positions 8 and 3 which is actually the safest hand position not 9 and 2. and the horns relocation button is an airbag safety feature. when honking in a normal car and the airbag goes off your hand will go right into your face and break some bones. with me new horn location your hand will go outward and not become one with your face.
Unbearable 1. What’s the point of crying about not having air suspension in model y. It’s performance it’s expected to have hard suspension.. please compare it with older model Y or long range or car in same category or price range.
First full run on my MY Performance, approx 8 degrees Celsius average outside, from full battery, mainly motorway/highway driving, used heated seats periodically, climate control on, heated steering wheel used intermittently… 280 miles achieved when returning home, 10% battery still remaining. Maybe could eek out 290/300 miles. Pretty impressive I’d say. (Car is 1 month old). Edit: driving with autopilot for majority of journey on highways at 70mph. Whole journey in Sport mode rather than chill. Occasional bursts of acceleration when needed 😂
I wonder if the "future" will be electric car/bike as some point to. Not in favor or against it...if it comes "naturaly" then i will embrace this E.V. trend.
What do you mean by the future? Next 10, 20, 50, 100 years? The history of a car has ca. 140 years so far. Imagine that around 1900 in New York there were 20k horses, streets full of horse shit and almost no cars. In 1920 there were almost no horses and a lot of cars.
@@norbertmachaj6127 Future means exactly what you said. 5 years from now,10 or 25 does not matter. Global events could accelerate or maybe stop EV evolution, politics and even people opinion could impact E.V. also. I think,if Nuclear FUSION became reality then E.V. could benefit from clean/cheap energy we will move 100% electric.
Steering wheel is dumb. Shifting is dumb. I just ordered a Model Y performance as a 2nd car to my Porsche so I’m a new fan but they need to stop trying to literally reinvent the wheel and devote that resource to something useful!
I would like to disagree, I doubt that to open a glovebox I'd like to go to screen -> settings -> controls -> glovebox -> open. And on the other side I never tried driving Tesla. Still I belong to that group of people who think that classic physical controls are better than delegating everything to the one screen - a one single point of failure. Luckily you still are getting real gas and break pedals, and do not have to push buttons on screen, like on mobile game

Turn signals should be as large and bright as possible, can’t understand Tesla’s reasoning behind such a design.
I agree, Tesla's rear lighting is not impressive (bright and large) compared to other premium manufacturers.
Well Americans never use their turn signals so it was probably not that important to them…

Thanks for the feedback!
What will happen to X's auto present door during the windy day? Will it open and bend backward??
Like your coordinated clothing style for this review - monochrome like the cars, black top white trousers.
I miss old style traditional buttons. Not a fan of the large single touch screen doing everything.
👌
8:38 I'd pay for that feature and experience this only if Thomas would be next to me :D:D:D
Thanks Greetings to you from Algeria, hero
Greetings!
Tesla needs to make a Model Y Plaid with self-presenting doors like the model X and price it at 90K or upgrade the interior too and charge 100K max!
Hmmm :)
Cool video.
Hello I don't know if you can but it will be awesome if you can compare suspensions of model y performance to the long range version 2023 of course. I am in the middle of buying one of the two. And your input will be amazing. 🙂
Also depends on where it is built!
@@autogefuehl I heard that the 2023 model y long range has the new comfort suspension. So I just wanted to know if it's a big difference with the performance model y 2023.
I'll take the Y, but with X seats 🙂
ha! yes
Interesting story thanks 🙏
I have BMW X5 I want to trade for Tesla, which model do you recommend, Y Performance, or X plaid. I want to use i daily to work around 60 miles a day. Thank you very much.
That’s what this video is about, enjoy full length!
Great video more please
thanks! Please recommend :-)
@12:07 Thomas, dressed to thrill.
I mean _WHITE PILL_ _BLACK PILL_
Take one of each, thanks!
😁
Most ordinary folk are waiting for the cheaper Tesla models to be produced.
Model 3 is just under 40k before the tax credit
Cheapest quality ev out there
I own TM3 LR and agree with your verdict. Great comparision! 😊
Thanks 🙏
Review on the new Polestar coming soon?
Here: ua-cam.com/video/MQ-hjKQk5KY/v-deo.html
@@autogefuehl Oh I'm sorry, I meant the facelift on the Polestar 2... which now makes me realize it's basically the same as the Polestar 3 lol
Teslas are just cool! Thanks for the great review.
Performance versions of Model 3/Y has a much more stiff suspension than Long Range versions. Just FYI, might be worth trying them.
I did, the MYP has better suspension although bigger wheels. Not sure if they meanwhile upgraded the same to the MYLR
Sounds good
Love Teslas and the Plaid and performance models!
i would worry as the second or third owner of these , so much to go wrong and not a easy fix?
Much less risk than ICE cars.
The Model X plaid is my dream car, it has more space, and significantly more power than the Y performance.
Black MYP is beautiful
I would be driving the Model Y Performance today if Tesla Berlin hurried up! Ordered a month ago...
Oh, my sweet summer child…
Modle X is just a show off..
If the Y had the perforated leather seats…just if then it would be perfect
First time seeing you. Excellent job. Sub'd. 🚗✌🏽🙂🏆
Welcome 🙏
High price doesnt makes you premium. You have to work a lot as a brend to get that premium badge.🙂
But why it's high price? Because it is the best EV car you can get at that price. DO NOT GIVE ME OTHER BRANDS, they don't deserve "BEST".
Beautiful cars, unfortunately no real competition especially after price reduction...
Thanks for the comparison 👍
Thanks keep following!
Joeeeeee!
When will Tesla make a bike? I would love that
The auto wipers drive me nuts too. They turn on with just a little bit of humidity, and my Model Y is made in China, not Germany.
I don’t understand what Tesla is doing with auto-wipers. They simply don’t work well. I have mine turned off.
Now kind of really boring. KIA? VOLVO?
Tesla is a premium brand, but it does not build luxury cars. Mercedes is a premium brand with premium (GLC) and luxury cars (GLS, Maybach, AMG)
the suspension is so bad in the Y that Im deciding to trade it in for an X
These cars look so, so dated at this point
Great video as usual! After watching it a couple times, I watched it at 0.5x speed... Give it a try, you will thank me later! Feels like Thomas had a few drinks :-)))
😂
I'm all for Cool and clean Thomas , I think there are too many cars with too many distractions these days . Tesla have got it right in my humble opinion and i think personally i would get used to driving a Tesla very Quickly . 🙏🙏👌👌💯💯👍👍
A half steering wheel is something that belongs to a DeLorean in Back to the future. IMO it looks ridiculous and have no advantage compared to a normal steering wheel. Maybe Tesla will offer half wheels in the future 😂
I thought it is made up of less materials, compared to a normal steering wheel. Cost advantage? But those are just opinions.
the advantage to the yoke is full view of screen directly in front of the driver so nothing is being cut off. it also forces you to take hand positions 8 and 3 which is actually the safest hand position not 9 and 2. and the horns relocation button is an airbag safety feature. when honking in a normal car and the airbag goes off your hand will go right into your face and break some bones. with me new horn location your hand will go outward and not become one with your face.
cool & clean :-)
Where's the Z ? 😂😂
9:52 “and then the Fukin doors here” 😂
So happy to see performance tesla's available in Europe! My Uncle in Frankfurt just got his Model Y Performance! 😃
Unbearable
1. What’s the point of crying about not having air suspension in model y. It’s performance it’s expected to have hard suspension.. please compare it with older model Y or long range or car in same category or price range.
Why not do a Tesla for eco performance with a reasonable 0 to 60 in everyday driving, and max range.
Just drive it carefully and that’s what you have in every Tesla. They are the most efficient on the road.
Occasional bursts of acceleration when needed 😂
the price is double for model X 😁 that is the main diffrence
Why did you removed my comment?
Which comment?
Not a Tesla fan but I’d rather get a model Y since it has exactly the space you want
Your are strange, but ok, your choice.
All Teslas are devoid of any character inside. Dull, dull, dull.
Steering wheel is dumb. Shifting is dumb. I just ordered a Model Y performance as a 2nd car to my Porsche so I’m a new fan but they need to stop trying to literally reinvent the wheel and devote that resource to something useful!
Steering wheel 👇🏻
All the other☝🏻
you hit the stalks by accident all the time
Interieur of the future on both cars. every other carmaker looks outdated. 😁
@@sergeysedelnikov3015 i was like you, until i drove a model 3.😁
@@rsamd yeah, I need to try it then for sure :)
Tesla are still using old exterior design. Plenty of EVs are newer more modern. Chinese takeover will push Tesla's to upgrade...

Tesla is not a premium brand…. They have to many quallity issues
Completely false ….. They have two of the best selling cars in the world. Also the safety / tech/ acceleration is above premium in the industry
the steering wheel turning signal is one of the most stupid designs out there. It should be banned by law.
Too big, too bland, too fast for the needs of most drivers.

Oldest EV models all of them. Look so dated...
