Great video - the mattress is interesting :) I fly with electric motors and I can advise. The engines directly behind your seat are not efficient because you are unknowingly creating a closed system (it's about the same as blowing your mouth into the sailboat you're sailing on) and some sort of "confusor" on every engine doesn't really help. The classic paramotor with one large propeller does not have this problem, because its blades extend beyond the profile of the seat and there is no thrust in the center of the propeller. You have only two options - move your propeller "mattress" far back, or reduce the number of engines to 2 with higher power, which will be spaced apart to a larger spacing of your back (the diameter of one propeller should be 28 "). Both propellers should rotate against each other - it eliminates the gyro effect. No "confusors" or two propellers on one axis of the engine, because it has no noticeable effect. :)
I wonder if he took half of them off and removed the ones behind his body and spaced them out more if it would fly better and last longer due to less weight and better efficiency and everything you mentioned.
@@JaredConnell Pokud by to udělal, získal by větší tah při stejné síle. To je vyzkoušené. Malé vrtule nejsou špatné, ale to by autor musel vyrobit něco podobného, co najdete na open ppg.
@@ChessMasterNate In practice, this is done by placing the propeller with an electric motor on a rod 0.75 m long behind the pilot's back. This propeller has folding blades like an umbrella, which expands by centrifugal force when the electric motor is switched on. In the motorless flight mode, the propeller folds down again like an umbrella thanks to the spring. In the case of a "mattress", it would be necessary to relieve it of the unnecessary things I mentioned somewhere and, of course, to move it away from the pilot's back (if he insisted on his concept). The partial rotation of the pilot to the right and left, as I noticed in the video, is due to the higher center of gravity, so something in this direction would have to change to prevent this. The pilot of a classic paramotor must be able to cope with the gyro effect of his propeller, so it is again up to the pilot and his experience.
I don't really know anything so i have to ask: would it make a difference to put the motor units in a hexagonal pattern rather than square? I imagine you'd get more motors in a smaller surface area, and a hexagon would probably be more comfortable than a big rectangle
Yeah the bottom corners of the square could chop up your fingers pretty easily. I wonder if stacking 2 motors front to back would help also? Idk I'm not a expert on such things but I want this idea to take off lighter para motors would mean more people can fly.
These videos are endlessly entertaining but the more I watch, the more I am aware of just how much time and effort you put into making them. Not just the builds but the filming and editing as well. Thanks for making these. Thumbed and subbed!
You might want to see if 3D printing a hexagon duct will let you stack/configure them more effeciently and add ridgidty to your duct system. Like a bee hive.
@@2S1L3NT hex pattern on the outside and circle on the inside. this way the sections don't slide around. a more sturdy rod for the fans to sit on would help a lot too. likely a pressure/snap into place fit where each section has it's own rod it sits on. these could be 3d printed too. create a attachment clamp, 3d print that, this will hold the fan to the rod. drill or leave hole for the wires from the fan to go through. this way each section is self contained. can make nearly any shape with a 3d printer so might as well take advantage of that fact and allow the sections to connect to each other and add strength to the entire thing.
@@bushgreen260 i don't know about a lot more, his current frame setup is quite heavy and pretty much all of that wouldn't be needed with the hex pattern design. as you can just screw/bolt/glue them together. the frame is the fan housing. instead of how it currently is, there is a metal frame that holds all of the rather lose fan housings. it needs to be sturdy, extra weight can be balanced out by having a more effective design that doesn't have lose fans with better air flow then the current setup has.
@@rocksfire4390 yes but you ate saying a hex pattern on the outside and a circle on the inside. You wnat to do both at the same time so obviously it will add more weight.
The ducts make it safe, not just efficient. Still want that efficiency, of course. Might consider moving the motors out to the sides and leaving a strip with no motors behind the pilot. There is not much airflow through there.
This is kinda what I do for a living I’m an electro Tech , I build circuit boards to huge power banks and controllers etc etc . I don’t think folks appreciate the time Peter puts into this . The wiring in itself is a undertaking, very nice my friend very nice!!!!!
You are doing what every kid dreamed about doing. Having only worked on UL,'s, with all the pre cut pieces and proven designs, I can appreciate the amount of work you're putting into these projects. Actually I don't how you're so productive but we're enjoying the ride right along. I think in Latin you'd be called a Vicarious Icarus :)
Never thought I'd see Tucker on Peter Sripol's channel! I must say that I've never envied a harness more after seeing three really cute guys use it. LOL!
From an Australian Peter to an American Peter, Congratulations on your creativity and ingenuity. Seems to me that you have the ability to achieve some great things in life.
Looks like a project, but I would suggest erasing the fans in the middle of your body as they are shielded by it and can provide less drag as the other more exposed ones as the air flux is denser and can therefor provide more pulse.
Peter, I can't wait to see version 2 of your electric paramotor. I've thought a lot about building an electric paramotor and I really think two counter rotating props is the way to go. That way you wouldn't need to worry about designing in torque steer correction into the frame. You should consider watching the "Insights Into Paramotor Geometry" series that Miro (creator of Scout Paramotors) released on the Scout Aviation UA-cam channel.
That looks like a big improvement in paramotoring, its a lot safer not having a giant slicer/dicer on your back. Plus you can shut off the power instantly. You just need more power somehow, maybe more batteries and stronger motors.
Thats a really good observation about the safety of multiple small rotors as opposed to one deadly one. i wonder why no company has made gas powered multi rotor ones? Like a gas generator i should say unless they found a way to make a load of driveshafts work on one engine haha
After I found out who you went training with I felt like I missed out by not learning with them this summer. Went with a locally based instructor instead. I too, live in Ohio 😆 Maybe I'll see you up there some time. Just watch out for me if you're about to launch some rockets.
I was going to say this is the kind of story you see on the Darwin Awards but I see it's 2 years later and you're still alive and kicking! Thank god, I had my doubts when I started watching this. 😁
I think this is Awesome! How was the torque? How did the weight feel compared to the gas powered motor? That's cool that Tucker Gott was there with you.
Nice proof of concept, I’m excited to see what mk.2 brings! I wonder if you could get a bigger prop turning slower to make less noise. I fantasize regularly about being able to fly hearing only the wind.
You mean like the propellers used on those powered paragliders? Like on the one he has? He puts the proper propeller pack for it on near the start of the video there somewhere. Yeah it's not a new idea, and it's kinda getting away from the multi drone-propeller idea there.... but that's probably a good thing, it's been well tried already and there's good reasons they're not used. But yes those proper powered parachute/paragliders are pretty awesome contraptions and must give a close sensation of flying like a bird. :) I've got a couple little microlights on one of my properties that I fly sometimes.... which are kinda in-between a powered paragliding and an ultralight or small plane. More comfort and range and manoeuvrability and all that than a paraglider... probably a good deal safer too. But still have a very light, small, open-plan frame and gibe a strange sensation sort of like flying around on an outdoor lounge chair. 😏 You really feel the environment around you, all the wind and moisture and air pressure and dust and insects etc. Wouldn't want to cross the Atlantic in one but hella fun. And quite useful on the land. Safe too. Even if you pass out or something it'd pretty much just glide down and land itself eventually. Long as you don't hit any trees or anything. Have a go if you get the chance.
Super Rad!!! Also awesome to be surprised with the Tucker collab! Silly extra credit idea for the next build: Tune the PVM for each motor at the controller or through an intermediary controller that selects motors speeds from a hash table of specified frequencies. So that at different throttle positions the motors are making harmonious tones rather than wheezy whines. With so many motors it should be possible to have some mega lush tones that would blow peoples minds. Extra Extra credit: Make the motors play music. This would be the same way people get their scanners to play music only scaled up to all of the motors. If appropriate songs are selected within the proper frequency range that overlaps with the frequency range of the motors maximum power output the contraption should be able to fly while playing music at the same time.... maybe... at least it sounds great on paper :)
Congratulations to you and your team on this creative success. It looks like a George Jetson urban aerial vehicle is not far off. Maybe drone power will be the personal mode of travel.
Even if I had a brilliant engineering mind like this I'd never have the patience to make and put together all of these small parts. People like this leave me in awe .
there's loads of ways you could improve the performance of this, like moving the ones blocked by your body and improving duct prop fit. would be even better with the drone motors from the santa slay build, just need a couple and you would be off
You can’t sell this old man this is very bad example what he’s doing, don’t you have kids ? Would u want them making this and somthing bad can 100% happen
You may not know this, but brushless PWM motors have an optimal speed/blade pitch for differing densities. If you run them at their peak operating point per fan curve data, you can switch on and off fan banks and a constant RPM/pitch angle and optimize your current use for the same thrust, thus giving you longer run time on the same batteries. This is one of the reasons modern prop airplanes have both adjustable prop pitch and rpm.
A dream with just enough physics and duct tape to stick together and fly! You’ve found Einstein’s sweet spot: ‘Everything should be as simple as possible, it no simpler.’
I just noticed this from the cross section of the duct you were showing and it makes perfect sense lol…the ducts you used are airfoil shaped, they are just circular! Literally a perfectly round airplane wing!
Well, this was incredible! Everyone else can stop making videos now. My apologies if this has been said tons before - but I wondered if you might get a any difference in thrust with the motors that are behind you configured to the sides of you versus behind you? Nice work, thank you, and good luck!

You don't want it too far back, it will try to twist the pilot, trying to get ahead of him. That could get very dangerous.
When i first saw the thumbnail,i thought that you're carrying toilet paper.
Me too
I don't really know anything so i have to ask: would it make a difference to put the motor units in a hexagonal pattern rather than square?
@USCG veteran Christian gamer 1977 keep your negative comments to yourself curmudgeon
damn
I've been wondering why nobody (that I've seen) has done this yet.
You might want to see if 3D printing a hexagon duct will let you stack/configure them more effeciently and add ridgidty to your duct system. Like a bee hive.
He literally just said he's losing thrust because the blades aren't close enough to the sides of the duct, so...
A hex is going to be worse.
@@2S1L3NT
hex pattern on the outside and circle on the inside. this way the sections don't slide around. a more sturdy rod for the fans to sit on would help a lot too. likely a pressure/snap into place fit where each section has it's own rod it sits on. these could be 3d printed too. create a attachment clamp, 3d print that, this will hold the fan to the rod. drill or leave hole for the wires from the fan to go through. this way each section is self contained.
can make nearly any shape with a 3d printer so might as well take advantage of that fact and allow the sections to connect to each other and add strength to the entire thing.
@@rocksfire4390 it will add a lot more weight
@@bushgreen260
i don't know about a lot more, his current frame setup is quite heavy and pretty much all of that wouldn't be needed with the hex pattern design. as you can just screw/bolt/glue them together. the frame is the fan housing. instead of how it currently is, there is a metal frame that holds all of the rather lose fan housings.
it needs to be sturdy, extra weight can be balanced out by having a more effective design that doesn't have lose fans with better air flow then the current setup has.
Awesome ‼️👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
This is kinda what I do for a living I’m an electro Tech , I build circuit boards to huge power banks and controllers etc etc . I don’t think folks appreciate the time Peter puts into this . The wiring in itself is a undertaking, very nice my friend very nice!!!!!
Please send me the link to your videos about similar electric experiment.
I will be your subscriber😃
Tucker and Peter together in one video, doesn't get much better than that.
You should calculate the carbon footprint of all the politicians that tell you to lower your carbon footprint. LOL
Thank you for sharing Peter. Your channel is really inspirational. Keep it up!!
Please don't make a paramotor in 5 Minutes 😅
As a fan of Peter, Tucker, and Judson this makes me so incredibly happy!!! 😎🤙
"Isnt it weird how we live longer than men?"
"Yeah its weird"
But this mindset is what makes men do and achieve fantastic things and also fail miserably but women don't risk much
Never thought I'd see Tucker on Peter Sripol's channel! I must say that I've never envied a harness more after seeing three really cute guys use it. LOL!
At 9:49 he barely avoids some power lines??
From an Australian Peter to an American Peter, Congratulations on your creativity and ingenuity. Seems to me that you have the ability to achieve some great things in life.
Восхитительно.

I love the very clear enunciation of "sustainable" just to make sure the advertisers get their algorithmic bang for buck.
Most people: "Thats impossible!"
Peter: "Let's see"
Pretty cool. But I would go crazy from the sound.
Looks like a project, but I would suggest erasing the fans in the middle of your body as they are
shielded by it and can provide less drag as the other more exposed ones as the air flux is denser and can therefor provide more pulse.
You guys do the silliest stuff taken to serious levels.
PETER I HAVE BEEN FOLLOWING YOUO FOR YEARS...YEARS!! THANK YOU--THIS WAS COOL!
@@ter8901 Gas powered motors don't scale down very good.
Could be done with linear gas generators, they pack a huge punch for their small size and low weight
These guys literally risking their life in the name of science. great job guys.
After I found out who you went training with I felt like I missed out by not learning with them this summer.
Went with a locally based instructor instead.
I too, live in Ohio 😆
Maybe I'll see you up there some time. Just watch out for me if you're about to launch some rockets.
Hahahaha that rocket part was funny
Evil genius, minus the evil. This is just awesome. Don't know where you get your creativity but it is impressive.
It’s people like this that make UA-cam worthwhile.
Keep perfecting it! We'll come back for your Part 2! Great show!
I feel a lot safer with this multiple mini drones setup than those huge paramotors that can slice you in half.
And if one of your propellers fails u have backup
King thomson didnt agree with that until
he went brrrr lol
I was going to say this is the kind of story you see on the Darwin Awards but I see it's 2 years later and you're still alive and kicking! Thank god, I had my doubts when I started watching this. 😁

2021 is great if you're paying attention to these types of wonderful builds!
Absolutely wonderful. I’m so impressed with you guys doing positive things.
This is not positive this could end up very bad, educate yourself
I invented the drone. I'm so proud that it had been embraced and being used for these types of things. Always remember that safety is the priority.
Go dune soaring !!!!
I've got a couple little microlights on one of my properties that I fly sometimes.... which are kinda in-between a powered paragliding and an ultralight or small plane.
More comfort and range and manoeuvrability and all that than a paraglider... probably a good deal safer too. But still have a very light, small, open-plan frame and gibe a strange sensation sort of like flying around on an outdoor lounge chair. 😏
You really feel the environment around you, all the wind and moisture and air pressure and dust and insects etc.
Wouldn't want to cross the Atlantic in one but hella fun. And quite useful on the land.
Safe too. Even if you pass out or something it'd pretty much just glide down and land itself eventually. Long as you don't hit any trees or anything.
Have a go if you get the chance.
Looks like he's running around with toilet paper rolls on his back 😏
now this was super cool!!! I was hype to see him land safe on the first real run!!! Keep improving the concept!!
Super Rad!!!
Also awesome to be surprised with the Tucker collab!
Silly extra credit idea for the next build:
Tune the PVM for each motor at the controller or through an intermediary controller that selects motors speeds from a hash table of specified frequencies. So that at different throttle positions the motors are making harmonious tones rather than wheezy whines. With so many motors it should be possible to have some mega lush tones that would blow peoples minds.
Extra Extra credit:
Make the motors play music.
America needs people willing to experiment, invent, and innovate. I watch lots of your videos and they are awesome 👌 😊 Thanks Peter
Congratulations to you and your team on this creative success. It looks like a George Jetson urban aerial vehicle is not far off. Maybe drone power will be the personal mode of travel.
Next step would be 2 use the 50 duct props 4 a real hover board.
EDF housings need EDF Fan blades. You're leaving a lot thrust on the table with those 3 blade props.
Ducting any propeller theoretically increases thrust/efficiency, but the duct needs to be designed right. It doesn't have to be a fan.
Even if I had a brilliant engineering mind like this I'd never have the patience to make and put together all of these small parts.
People like this leave me in awe .
there's loads of ways you could improve the performance of this, like moving the ones blocked by your body and improving duct prop fit. would be even better with the drone motors from the santa slay build, just need a couple and you would be off
Never expected to see Tucker here. Started following him in mid 2020.
It sounds like a B52 trying to taxi with flat tires
So would laying out the drone motors in more of a honey comb pattern increase efficiency?
Might not be good for optimal airflow.
Peter you do amazing work ! You need to start your own company and make cool stuff to sell ! Stay well
You can’t sell this old man this is very bad example what he’s doing, don’t you have kids ? Would u want them making this and somthing bad can 100% happen
@@Jdam5 He is an ace builder and any father should be proud to have a child who is as talented
Hi Peter, did you see the Jetson flying car/drone thing?
I just noticed this from the cross section of the duct you were showing and it makes perfect sense lol…the ducts you used are airfoil shaped, they are just circular! Literally a perfectly round airplane wing!
Well, this was incredible! Everyone else can stop making videos now. My apologies if this has been said tons before - but I wondered if you might get a any difference in thrust with the motors that are behind you configured to the sides of you versus behind you? Nice work, thank you, and good luck!
