LYRICS
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
With drops of Jupiter in her hair
She acts like summer and walks like rain
Reminds me that there's time to change, hey
Since the return of her stay on the moon
She listens like spring and she talks like June, hey
Hey, hey-yeah
But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way
To see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated?
Tell me, did you fall from a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were
Looking for yourself out there?
Now that she's back from that soul vacation
Tracing her way through the constellation, hey, oh yeah
She checks out Mozart while she does Tae-Bo
Reminds me that there's room to grow, hey, oh yeah
Now that she's back in the atmosphere
I'm afraid that she might think of me as
Plain ol' Jane told a story about a man
Who was too afraid to fly so he never did land
But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day
And head back to the Milky Way?
And tell me, did Venus blow your mind?
Was it everything you wanted to find?
And did you miss me while you were
Looking for yourself out there?
Can you imagine no love, pride, deep-fried chicken
Your best friend always sticking up for you
Even when I know you're wrong?
Can you imagine no first dance, freeze-dried romance
Five-hour phone conversation
The best soy latte that you ever had, and me?
But tell me, did the wind sweep you off your feet?
Did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day
And head back toward the Milky Way?
But tell me, did you sail across the sun?
Did you make it to the Milky Way
To see the lights all faded
And that heaven is overrated?
Tell me, did you fall for a shooting star?
One without a permanent scar
And did you miss me while you were
Looking for yourself?
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
And did you finally get the chance
To dance along the light of day?
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
And did you fall for a shooting star?
Fall for a shooting star?
Na, na, na, na, na, na
Na, na, na, na, na, na
And are you lonely looking for yourself out there?

Who’s here in 2024?
Never left 🫶🏻
Greetings from Germany. A great Song!!!£❤❤❤
I was 16, working at Blockbuster (yes, the ancient video store). Anyway, we’d play video tapes of music in the store, while people shopped. I’m from Baltimore, never heard of this group and never listened to this style of music. I remember the end of the night, I was about to start cleaning up and this song started. I turned around and kind of stood there - it was the most beautiful melody I had ever heard. I fell in love. I still love this song to this day 💕💕
I remember hearing this for the first time and it hit me hard, I listened to it a lot because of the lyrics
Heard it for the first time in 2013 as a junior in HS. 😢😅
Wouldn't want to have heard it at any other time. Strong as a bull ,younger than ever
I first heard this song waaaay back in 04 on a flight coming home from deployment overseas - wiped out, beat down and broken. I found myself.
Listen to "calling all angels" by them
A beautiful song, and it's so hard to listen to. Reminds me of my momma struggling with drug abuse. I love you mom. Much love to anyone who reads this, and i hope your future is bright and full of happiness 💜.
❤
I still can't believe that it's been 20 years. 2001 definitely had some incredible songs. And this was one of them. And this song should've won more Grammys too. The first time I've heard this song was one summer night. It was playing on the radio and I was laying in bed with the window open. I was just a kid. I remember thinking how beautiful and amazing this song is. And now this song is always on my playlists. One of my all time favorite songs. And favorite songs of Train.
I hear ya. Can't believe it's been over 20 years.
I was 30 something when it came out, I'm 56 now and listening to these old songs keep me feeling young.
I agree with you.
This is literally how I came across it it is truly one of the most magnificent songs ever
Ppp
I just brought my Mom’s ashes home from the crematorium this afternoon…I hope somewhere out there my Mother knows how much I loved her. She gave me the world and so much more, and I love and miss her so much. I hope she’s somewhere beyond the stars, flying free with the comets and supernovas 😭❤️
She’s looking down on you smiling this Christmas for sure!
@@futurereflections4097 thank you, kind stranger 🥹❤️

Your Mother is still with you EVERY DAY ! I lost my Mother 35 years ago and she is always near. Prayers for your comfort 🙏🙏🙏
13 years ago today she went back into the atmosphere!!! I MISS YOU SO MUCH MOM
Everyone misses the early 2000s, it was an amazing era of growth and evolution
Yah I so miss the 90s and early 2000s
I don’t miss the early 2000s. It was a horrible time culturally
Rest in peace grandpa. He used to sing this everytime it came on. I can’t sing along without getting emotional and it’s been 16 years. I love you papaw and I think about you every day
You have to sing along! You are singing with I'm!!
This is the last time I get to see Train’s last song from Drops Of Jupiter and I’m keeping it as a souvenir. 😌
This song is very special to me. It played the day my mom died. And every time I hear it I feel as if it is her checking on me💜
My mom and I used to jam out to this song
Yep, this song was actually about the lead singer’s mother.
damn
Bless you
Well that makes losing my virginity to this song a little weird 😅
Drops of Jupiter always reminds me of my son Matt who died 2years before it came out. I think of him dancing along the light of day every time I hear it played. Thanks Train
❤
🙏
Rip Matt. Surely he is and smiling right back down at you. 🙂
I am so sorry for your loss!!
This song hurts, great tune and yes I like it but also remindes me of 911. I lost my uncle in the south tower of the WTC in NYC. This song was a hit the same month of September and had heavy airplay into the end of 2001. I wish I could sometimes go back in time to Sept 10th when things in life and the country were wonderful. Those born after will never know or understand what the world was like before that day.
Oh how this song feeds the soul. Makes you forget about the crazy world we live in. Maybe the next shooting star will be my soulmate. ❤

RIP mother
i love you in a place where’s no space or time 🙏🏿
8 years later and this still makes me cry after all this time
Definitely!
Yep it sucks
This is one of the greatest songs to ever exist. The melody, lyrics, and chorus are perfection.
Not lying when I say this song has one of the most interesting, creative lyrics. Brilliant writing.
When I was a little kid I came across this song on a discarded cd. I loved it so much, It made me learn the piano so I could play it and then I sung it at my Grandma's wedding. I totally forgot about it until now, 20 years later. Most of my time since has been spent working with sound. It's safe to say that this song was a major influence on my life, listening to it now I can still feel those same emotions. What a gem, cheers Train.
I was 9 years old when this song came out. Train has always had a knack for strange yet sensible lyrics combined with incredible melodies. “Drops of Jupiter” is arguably Train’s greatest song. The gorgeous melody always hooked me as a kid and still does today. Finding out that this song was about the passing of Pat Monahan’s mother from cancer, I return to this song after the passing of my grandmother and uncle that I had just lost. Thank you Train for this emotionally impactful masterpiece.
Still as good as the 1st time I heard it - Great song!!!
What a beautiful arrangement as well! The strings rock!! Awesome!!
The string arrangement is by Paul Buckmaster who was Elton John's string arranger on Elton's early albums. Paul was a cello player and his cello lines are always killer. That mid-section of the strings just always carries so much soul. The moment I heard this song on the radio I bet myself it was a Paul Buckmaster arrangement.
One of the most uplifting songs and comment sections on UA-cam ❤
What can be said that hasn’t already been said a thousand times before? I just love this song 😊🎶🎵❤️
I mean, people haven't said that this song is one their least favorites before.
❤
One of my all-time favorites ever! 🥰❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Mine too 🥰 love it ❤️❤️❤️
I absolutely love this song
Perfectly happy alone.
Sitting here with tears streaming down my face, I don't know why except just hearing this song again has opened up a nostalgic flood of emotions. The lyrics- is he talking about me?
This song always takes me back to the good old days.
Some of my musical inspiration comes from songs like this one. It's crazy when you think about the release of music. It just does something super special to each and every one of us. When we ask questions from the heart out into existence, the door of questions eventually opens. Especially when we keep knocking at it. Crazy isnt it?
Thank God for this song!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Amen...
2001 was a miracle year for me! This song carried me through some rough patches. And today I look back on it and think, life is one tough cookie but worth it. Train thanks for this masterpiece. 🚂🙏🏻🚂
My son was born in 2002 this song was stuck in my head the entire week before he was born. He’s 20 and so amazing going to Poland in 8 days. He’s great I on the other hand I’m hurting but can’t show it I love him and want the best for him. But I’m mortally wounded
I am the same age as your son and born the same year! This song reminds me of my childhood during the early 2000s and how much I love my mom and all she's done for me. I'm sure your son loves you very much! sending you love that you feel better and congrats about Poland ❤
@@koury.mp4I was born in 91 was 10 when this song came out. When did you discover it because it came out a year before your birth?
@@lessismore8533 I heard it on the radio anywhere between 2006 and 2009. I can't say what year for certain, all I remember is being little when I first heard it
Great song
Makes me cry, ever time, how very aptly sang/ stated❤
A great reminder of the good old days of good music
No one else can do this anymore...I'm serious...very futuristic
I don't always listen to train, but when I do so do my neighbors!!
I can't always be right. But when I am, I'm disgusted in that sworn in oath.
Yep, one of the most beautiful songs ever 🔥
Heaven is in the Stars and I will meet my Angels there! So will you.
Rip my beautiful beloved mother.so god damn hard 2 believe its been 2 years today and I've never nv missed anyone or anything more than u!!!!! 💙 💙 💙 TY FOR THIS! BIG LOVE FROM PHILLY PA

Still one of my favorite tracks.
"Can you imagine no love, pride, deep fried chicken" hits me right in the soul
still makes me cry
This song always made me think of my Grandma Betty she passed back in 2015. Now it's Hers and my daughter Luna's song 💔❤️🙏 lost her 3/18/21
Always and forever.
1999 springfield missouri young boy far from home fell in love ! This was one of many on my play list
I never heard this song until a friend sent it to me and said , I was the Drops from Jupiter.. I love this soulful song
This songs takes me way back to the good ole days. Miss the good times where does the time go? I feel like a old tractor just sitting away in a barn out in the country all old and rusty just forgotten in time rusting away...with age. Enjoy life live to the fullest and make it count because it's just too short your time card can and or could always get pulled and be called. Life's too short to be mean and miserable enjoy life today like it's your last. I miss when music was good back in the day people actually put feelings and emotions into their music the new era of music just isn't the same no more like it was back in the 2000's. R.I.P. 2000's era music.
This is one of my favorite songs of all time!!!!! I can listen to it all day!!!!
Happy birthday sweet angel. Jesus has you in his strong loving arms. I miss you every single day. But soon my love, my friend, my confident, I'll be there too, to hold you forever ❤️🔥
We've gone to Jupiter 2 times since this song! New Horizons and Juno! And Galileo was at Jupiter when this hit was big.
Great song!
I played this song tonight... as Jupiter is the closest it's been in 59 years.. and won't be close until another 107 years🧡
Music like this is so beautiful and it makes me feel so old. I’m 29 years old and I remember this song when I was nine years old and every day I hear music like this I cry because I don’t wanna grow old. I’m scared and I’m afraid to end up leaving earth.
Love this song!!!,
Train is a good 👍 band, I like his music 🎵🎶 not to hard not to soft, just right. Really deep lyrics.
I didnt know this was for his mom.

Saw Pat this Summer in Greensboro, NC. The BOMB!
Reminds me of a fit bird I met back in Yorkshire. She's married a rich man and forgotten about me since...This has left me feeling declassé, but I hope she never forgets my generous dation...I'll never forget the nights we snuck out together and did as we pleased. ❤🌹
I sure did ❤❤❤❤
Words were were used already😊😊😊💯💯💯
Almost crashed my car bawling my eyes out on my way home listening to this song

Idk.. Feelings? Memories? Nostalgia? You know, the feeling makes you feel like you're half being swept half surfing on this wave of relentless rush of time and good memories.
Best ever.
