    I got the same problem after using the plane a few times. A loud vibration coming from the motor in high rpm motor speeds. I thought it is because a faulti motor shaft or prop adapter but I gues this is the reason. I checked the front structure of the motor mount and it is totally loose. I glued the area and hopefully it works fine again. Thanks for sharing man. I appriciate.

    Thank You for this info, I just purchased this last month. Had a minor crash that broke the prop, Put a new one on and got the vibration you described. I thought that I had bent the motor shaft and that was causing the vibration. Just finished gluing it tonight and will hopefully fly tomorrow. I had thought they fixed this problem, guess not. Always look forward to your videos. Keep em coming
    thanks

    Great video! I glued my motor mount back onto the Valiant and I'm waiting on a prop adapter to get her back up in the air. I use the white gorilla glue and it works great. I checked after the plane had set for 24 hours and the blue head cured and found no movement at all, but the true test will be in the next flight. Love your Channel! I should be making a new video on the Valiant after the fix early next week. Have a wonderful evening and happy flying!

    Well presented and too good to see your hangar bro. The bad news is that the model shop I ordered this Valiant from have sent a message 'Out of Stock' & refunded. It is discontinued here in Australia & not available. Over $100 to ship from the USA plus would take forever until flights get back to normality....ah well hoping now for the T28 1.2

    I am aware of this problem. As I have more flights on this plane by far than any other plane in my hanger, and no real crashes, and I often fly it with a 4S 1800, I fequently check to make sure the motor is tight. So far no issues.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC

      I am on my third Valiant and it was my 2nd one that had this issue. But it is a easy fix but best to just be aware of it and check when you get a new one or periodically on the present one.

    Ok great...thx for the reply. How bout a Turbo Timber? Are those settings you gave for the Valiant the same or even close enough to use with the TT too with maybe just some fine tuning after the fact? The birds are very similar in stature but maybe not in flight characteristics. Again, thx for your time and opinion....

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  3 роки тому

      I use the same rates of 100/30 on the Timber as on most of my planes. However the flap settings will differ some. A lot of that depends on your flying style and the weight of the battery you use. But a good starting point is 25% for take off flaps then 100% for landing then a 2 sec deployment. Noe as far as elevator down mix then start at 5% down elevator for take off flaps and then 22% down elevator for landing flaps. Then fly and test if it still balloons to much then more down elevator mix on the elevator. And of course the opposite if she dives too much on you. Flap mixing is tricky and it will differ from model to model. There are many factors that come into play so one setting is not a universal one.

  • @57heeler
    @57heeler 3 роки тому +2

    Hey big guy will you add your d/r and expo settings as well as your flap settings? I am new enough that i need the best starting point so I can fine tune from there. I'll be checking back and I just subscribed

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  3 роки тому

      Ok I only use one rate. and thats 100% throws with 30% expo. My flap settings are as follows. no flaps 50% no elevator mix....take off flaps -25% with 11%elevator....landing flaps are -100% with 22%elevator. Thats in the flap settings on my DX9 Spektrum Transmitter. Normal rule of thumbs is take off flaps should be just enough to cause the plane to rise slowly without any elevator input and landing flaps are thought of as air brakes to slow the plane down. You control the landing with throttle input and elevator to control the decent of the tail all the while using the rudder to steer the plane as she settles down.

    Just got my new Valiant and then saw a bunch of videos besides this one where the nose broke right off! I have taken matters into my own hands before I even fly it. I drilled (5) 1/8" x 3" long holes through the outside area of the plastic bulkhead and into the foam behind it being careful not pop out the sides (not at the top because the foam wall is too thin there). Then I filled the holes with epoxy using a thin stick and covered the 1/8" x 3" long flat head bolts with epoxy and inserted them into the holes. This is certainly overkill, but having that nose pop off is now the last thing on my mind.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC

      Like i said in the video its hit and miss on the shipments, my first valiant (still have and fly) not a moments issue with the nose. Second one I got(with the intention as using the first as a back up ) had the vibration issue early on. Thankfully I heard it and landed immediately , took her back to the shop and fixed her for good. FYI I subdued to you. If you have not subded to me please do. And weather you sub to me or not Thanks for watching and if you have any RC Plane questions please ask that's why I made this channel.

    Awesome video and tip. So I just purchased the Valiant yesterday for $199. And I keep hearing about this problem. So what do you recommend I should do right when I get it? Just keep shaking the front nose to see if it loosens up? Cause I want to prevent it from happening. Is it possible to open it up and put glue from the inside just to be extra safe?

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  3 роки тому +1

      It will not hurt to remove the prop and cowl and put a little bead of glue in and around the fire wall. Just be careful not to let any glue drip on the motor. Also I subded to you. Your snorkeling with the turtles in Maui was cool. The turtles were very cool.

      @longboardlouie5816 3 роки тому

      thx for getting bk promptly. It may be the BNF, it started almost right away I've only flown it 3 or 4 times. Only did 1 range test recently since it happened after adjusting antennas. Ive heard the AR636A receiver has had issues, so I'm replacing it with a AR620 Sport no AS3X though.

    • @FatGuyFliesRC
      @FatGuyFliesRC  4 роки тому +1

    I just got this plane and built it. It is my first plane with flaps. Is it normal for the flaps to make a loud noise when fully deployed? It sounds like the servo is still trying to move the flap when fully engaged. I set it up per the manual at 100% for full landing flaps.
