- We're making green smoothies FOR YOUR DOG! I am obsessed with how cute this is! These smoothies are packed with healthy vitamins for your dog and make a delicious St. Patrick's Day dog treat or a refreshing summer treat for your dog! RECIPE & NUTRIENT INFO BELOW!
Green Smoothies for Dogs Recipe
Ingredients
1 cup water
2 fresh pears, peeled, cored and roughly chopped
2 stalks of celery, chopped into 1” pieces
1 tsp fresh ginger, peeled and grated (use a cheese grater - it makes it so easy!)
½ fresh cucumber, not peeled, roughly chopped
1 cup frozen peas, thawed
¼ cup fresh mango, roughly chopped
Directions
1. Place all ingredients into a blender. Pulse until very smooth.
2. Pour the smoothie into little bowls for your dogs, or pour into ice cube trays to freeze for frozen treats!
Health Benefits of The Smoothie!
PEARS:
Pears are a great snack because they’re high in copper, vitamins C and K, and fiber. It’s been suggested that eating the fruit can reduce the risk of having a stroke by 50 percent. DO remove the core and seeds, as these are TOXIC!
CELERY:
Promotes a healthy heart, contains vitamins A, B and C, and freshens your dog's breath!
GINGER:
Contains many antioxidants that can support dogs with motion sickness, blood circulation, nausea, gastrointestinal problems, and bloat. Ginger is anti-inflammatory and also help dogs with arthritis.
CUCUMBER:
Great for dogs on a diet, as they are very low in carbs! Packed with vitamins K, C, and B1, as well as potassium, copper, magnesium, and biotin.
GREEN PEAS:
Contain several vitamins, minerals, and are rich in protein and high in fiber. You can feed your dog fresh, frozen, or thawed peas, but do not give him canned peas, which have a lot of added sodium.
MANGO:
Contains vitamins A, B6, C, and E. They also have potassium and both beta-carotene and alpha-carotene. DO NOT feed them the pit/seed - this is TOXIC!
AVOID THESE INGREDIENTS (AMONG OTHERS):
AVOCADO:
Avocados contain persin, a toxin that often causes vomiting and diarrhea in dogs.
GRAPES:
Grapes and raisins are very toxic for dogs no matter the dog’s breed, sex, or age. They can lead to acute sudden kidney failure.
KALE:
High in calcium oxalate, which can cause health issues including kidney and bladder stones.
SPINACH:
Spinach is very high in oxalic acid, which blocks the body’s ability to absorb calcium and can lead to kidney damage. While your dog would probably have to eat a very large amount of spinach to have this problem, it might be best to go with another vegetable.

Lancito kale is lower oxalate than curly kale. I have oxalate sensitivity, but I can have Lancito kale. So if you want to use kale I would say low amount of Lancito.
Celery is high in Oxalate !! Lol
