The main influences this issue are straight up Moebius, Bilal and especially Hugo Pratt in the subterranean sequences.

Tom you are right about Samurai Jack i dont know how i didnt see it before
I feel like Miller was ahead of his time. The story unfolds like a Christopher Nolan story where some of the exposition of earlier story points doesn't come until the very end.
Miller was definitely experimenting through out these books and at my LCS,customers were kind of underwhelmed! Sort reminds me of the previous year when Bladerunner came out almost everyone expected Harrison Ford to play Dekkard like Han Solo or Indiana Jones? Nope. Amazing Heroes had a preview of Ronin in beautiful black and white! I was in because I absolutely no idea what the outcome would be??? 5 and 6 were late but then again Camelot 3000 was too! Bolland or Miller! 40yrs later I’d say was worth it! Great memories !🎯❤️Keep on making and reading comix!👋👍

Near the 30-minute mark, Jim mentions the creation schedule. With this not being part of the traditional DC stable, created and brought to them by Miller. Would he not have the majority of the series created in advance? Rather than trying to meet deadlines based on the print schedule?

Oh Hell Yeah! Samurai Jack is definitely a tribute to Ronin.
I bought these as they came out and it was my kids that had me watch Samurai Jack....and Maaaaan that was definitely a AHA !!! moment for me.
I was one that Loved the style story & format and yes it was pricey for that time but the paper quality and amount of pages all story without ads was the $#!+!!!!
Really enjoy this channel as I lost my collection to the flood caused by Alison in Houston.
Thanks for bringing back some very fond memories.
