❌️ This is why I don't do DoorDash at NIGHT!

- DoorDash has features that help with drivers safety and they sent me this notification while I was waiting on orders. I wasn't even on an order for them to be concerned about my safety.

I think it's good that you're working on your long-term brand of you for keeping contents and short videos so you're there but you're mixing it up
That "owner" of the business, lied ON YOU, but I suspect, also lied TO YOU! She does t own crap. Probably doesn't even own the shoes she was wearing. Much less a business
door dash here doesn't door dash NOW they only want people or on my phone to schedule delivering at midnight to 2 am in a bad town a bit away from where I am.
I set my trip A at zero and go out, they don't take in consideration you/we have to get back miles, if I do something else other than a delivery, I write it down and start at zero again when I get back to it. the old little tablet.
I downloaded your work solo. Yay
Tell them you would feel safer with a base pay of $5 or more.
Everybody stay safe out there. Sending prayers for safety for everyone trying to make that gig pay especially at night.
They're the only ones robbing us.😂😂😂
@@halffolk21 both sides are actually.
Lol...😂 yeah doordicked, I feel much safer w/a $5 base pay!!!
Base pay in nc is 2$
I’ve done several doordashes at night not because I necessarily want to, but they pay the best in my area. So I’ve gotten used to it.
DD always sends me that message when I'm driving on the highway at 70 mph... Um, I WAS feeling safe, right up until DD forces me to interact with my phone at 70 mph! For a focused driver app, DD does some incredibly stupid things. It wasn't just that I was driving. It's that they KNOW I'm driving because they are tracking me; they know I'm driving at well above terminal velocity; they know that I'm using their app to navigate to the next pickup location and suddenly no longer can until I interact with my phone while driving at 70 mph with nowhere to safely pull over because I'm on the Interstate (which they ALSO know).
They could send me that question while I'm parked, but they only ever send it when I'm moving down some road...
"How safe did you feel on your last delivery?" On a rating scale of 3?
I like that DD asks the question. The asking and the question is not my issue... my issue is the timing of the question combined with the demand of an answer. If DD did that question/survey BEFORE offering my next trip... complicated, but okay.
Except, DD offers the next trip, sets me off to driving, and THEN demands that I fill out their safety survey WHILE DRIVING... like, am I the the only one thinking "what the fuck?!?". A safety survey? Well, okay... DoorDash is a driver dispatch company. Certainly they won't try to conduct driver surveys while their drivers are driving...
Yeah, no. They ONLY conduct driver surveys when they are certain their drivers are in the process of driving.
From the perspective of a driver, that makes zero sense... but apparently it makes some type of legal sense.
So, there it is.
That's not the only thing... I, as a driver, want every driver focused app to focus on the fact that EVERY person connected to any app is probably, in the moment, you know.... DRIVING. And you don't even have to ask... you have real time GPS permission to check.
So, check. Period.
Too many drivers know the feeling of navigating delivery through unknown parts of whatever city... a glance at a perched cell phone, or mostly voice navigation directions. Too many DD drivers know the absolute misery of "bleep bleep bleep, how Safe did you feel on your last delivery? You won't get any more directions until you answer this survey..."
"But I'm on the highway..."
"Whatever... just answer this 6 button survey at 70 mph... or else..."
"Or else what?"
...cricket sounds....
When these "surveys" come up, it doesn't matter what you are doing.... 70 mph on the highway, trying to find a delivery address or a restaurant... NOTHING matters, because the entire APP will completely stop working until you stop everything you are doing and fill out the survey. It is stupid on top of stupid to give anyone a forced safety check survey when they are moving faster than a walking speed... because they are driving!
It's like, I'm trying to earn BOTH of us some money, and here you are actively trying to ENTRAP me into driving tickets, incredibly dangerous situations, and/or losing my license to drive at all... the fuck?
That means you opted in to let DD track your driving habits. Myself I clicked no I do not want to. Its like Statefarm and other insurance companies do to see how fast you accelerate/brake/speed, to save on insurance. I think you can turn it off (opt back out) in your DD settings somewhere. Try hitting settings and at very top if will say "Dash Preferences" or it may be under one of the other settings. You can just call support and ask how to opt out of it. It is not required for you to dash.
Now DD will track you anyway, but without the permission it does not give them any other info other than you are on the way. So if you drive/accelerate fast and hitting them brakes, you may not want DD knowing as it could possibly get you a CV or even deactivated. Opt out as soon as you can, is my advice.
@vikings7683
No... just no. If you want to DRIVE for DD, you have to accept their platform terms of service. The instant you log on, they track GPS location of every movement your GPS phone location makes... terms of service.
You don't get to even sign on without surrendering all rights to any kind of location privacy. Whenever you are running their app, they will know where you are in real-time, absolutely.
Very likely, they'll even get to know a lot more than that...
I drive delivery for a living, gross 6k per month, net 4k. As worthless as DD is to me, I still turn it on everyday... mostly to just exercise my DECLINE finger... but on some rare occasions to ACCEPT. My AR is 4%... I'm not supposed to get decent offers, but I still do here and there.
Mostly I just spend my day parked under a shade tree with no boss yelling at me, smoking a cigarette and listening to a good audio book. Some hours, I put in miles. Other hours, I'm just parked. Somehow I average $25 an hour... $20 net, after expenses.
I don't worry about it too much... nothing about this ever felt like a job to me anyways.
It gets dark so early now, sometimes I have to deliver at night. I hate mornings!
stay safe doing door dash at night especially for a lady...don't do it unless you really need to
Avoid deliveries at night in high crime areas, especially if female. And seriously consider getting a carry permit & training
Nighttime is where the money is. Gets dark at 4:45 pm now. Hard to avoid dark.
@@aces553night time for me is anytime after 10 pm
I’m a chick I make mad money at night. I can handle myself.
I do it but always keep someone on the phone .. n if they don’t tip whatever trash I have in my car I leave it in their driveway.. next time tip 🫠🫠
I live in Jacksonville Florida I don’t do dashing at night anymore because it’s harder to see the addresses and to me dashing during the day is a lot safer. Just please be safe out there.😊
Yeah I cannot stand driving in the dark. It’s so hard to see addresses!
I also don't drive at night because I have been known to relocate mailboxes.
Also, customers will not turn their porch lights on. They want their food, but they want to make it as difficult as possible for you to safely and accurately deliver it.
Ive receive that message too. I carey a big flashlight at night to see the addresses better.
I get the safety checkin a few times per week. Not sure why? It will pop up in the middle of the afternoon when I’m in a very safe neighborhood.
had a streak of 2 hours with no orders so i called it a day. cold outside sitting in a car waiting
DoorDash sends this notice to all dashers periodically on a daily basis it's not a biggie.
I really like doing deliveries at night, but I'm pretty selective about the areas I will do them in.
I got the same exact message about safety over the weekend. I had just dropped off food to someone. They asked me if I was safe. I asked " what is this crap?" Then I said yes safe. Then they asked me another question after that. Forget what it was,but I ignored it. I figured they were going to start asking me other questions. I am not getting good orders on DoorDash though. I get what you said to move around. The busier cities are 30 minutes away. That's a commute! That's not even including traffic.
KFC coleslaw is to die for.
I agree😊
happy new years!!!!
Happy New Year Sara!
Stay Safe Sara! Happy New Year 🎊🎆🎈
Girl I'm on hubby's UA-cam and let me tell you. Come taxes ugh we completely forgot to do miles of any kind beyond what's on our car. This is awesome! Ours is all in 1 trip set on the car. So this is a lifesaver!!! Thanks. Jen
I am tired of DD at night time but right now this is my full time gig and doing just breakfast and lunch doesnt cut it. Grrrrr during the summer at night is fine cause it light out till 9 and I typically dont DD past 9pm anyway but this time of year it can be frustrating trying to see addresses which some houses you cant find them and then making sure you have your flashlight on and watching where you are walking
I don’t DoorDash at night either I just don’t feel safe. My eyesight not that great either and most areas are dark and it is hard to find address.
Thank you for your service
KFC is on my black list here… tried to pick up last week and had to wait around an hour. 😑
😂 ‘I’m ok DoorDash I’m, I’m ok .. but I’m sitting here with no orders DoorDash’ #keepinItReal
Keep hustling
i did mine for the first time at night but took me out in the country how fun it is to find the house
Only $22 an hour paying for your own gas and navigating a heavy metro in Florida? That's insane.
I usually do 3/4 deliveries at night i don't like dashing all night but ill do a couple of them as its getting dark 730-830 during the spring during the winter it gets dark earlier...i like taking a break at night and then doing 1 or 2 really late at night 11pm or midnight if they do a +$3 peak pay can sometimes get a $10 Walgreens order or two
Sara you are doing well and I believe you are going to have a great 2024. 🎉😊
Thank you
I get those messages every now and then. It’s not a rating it’s actual questions. Safe, unsafe, mostly safe, not safe.
I received that message a couple of times.
What car mount do you use? Thanks!
Stay safe!
How long have you been on the Instacart wait list ? I just got on it and wondering how long I should expect to wait. Also what's the wait time on the rest (only got on Uber Eats so far) if you know ?
I’ve done a few nights and yeah no more I’ll stick to daylight hours thank you 👍
I don't like driving at night because I have a small night vision deficiency. Not dangerous, just have to be much more attentive. And I have trouble seeing the house numbers due to glare at night. But I work full time (8-4) so I have no choice but to dash at night now that it turns dark at 5. Saturday, I can do days. But I've gotten used to it. Don't have to worry about shady characters because I'm always carrying outside of dashing, legal in my state with permit. So I carry dashing just in case.
Girlllll I’ve been on the instant waitlist since 2021. 😅
I has not worked through Door Dash since early 2021. Started back up December 2023 and didn't have to reapply to start my account.
I guess they sent the notice to you in case you got a new license or insurance information. I don't like to dash at night because i cant see the numbers on the house.
It wasn’t ready at TB. Whata shocker
Be careful out there!
We did it on 31st for first time and we were popping. We got a lot for first time
I deliver at night but have a flashlight to see the addresses and take a picture if they don't have lights. Ubereats has a camera, so I don't need to use flashlight to take a picture, but the other apps don't.
Amazon flex has definitely cooled down. Them cutting pay for it also is another factor of it not being worth it anymore.
I know you like UE. I have been doing a little more and offers are so freaking bad. However, I have found that if you sift through the crap you can find good orders. You just have to turn down 20 of them to find that one good one. 🤷 As for the safe message, I thought about saying no just to see what they would do
Don't do it, it got me SWATTED 😱🚨🚓 👮👮♂👮♀👮♂👮
Just kidding. 😂🤣😂🤣😉
The app tracks your every move remember so you must have stayed inside a building for some time or moved in the opposite direction of GPS to trigger that safety ping (you can turn off)
I wish I could have the subscription but I can’t afford it right now. Amazon flex has been very little to none for revere because that’s the only area I can go to but not NH or west coast of Mass. either.
I only do deliveries at night. I make the most money. But crazy shit does happen at night
My pokemon go is always asking if I’m safe even when I’m at home. What does that say about my town? Lol. I was driving in a downtown city dropping off daughter for a concert and a bunch of teens with masks started slowly getting closer to my car. Left before I could find out. I was like don’t make me be a Carol like the Walking Dead.
Carol was a bad@ss!
It will do this during the day as well. Sometimes another Dasher reported the location.
I broke my hand whooping on a customer for putting his hands on me. He was high on PCP !! Be safe ppl
I have had DD ask me if I was safe, multiple times in the last week. Almost always a few minutes after I have dropped off a delivery and back on road driving. WTH??🤷🤷
I mean if somebody stole my phone would they not just reply "Yup, All good"😆😆
When I'm in the Wawa bathroom, I'm usually singing and dancing. 🤣
Me too! They play good music 🤣
I've been delivering newspapers at night for 10-15 years and I'm surprised how many people mention this "hard to see the addresses" issue. If you are not good at the job, the job is not for you.
We are often sent to neighborhoods we don't know., unlike a set newspaper route. Often homes have no lighting or the address is missing. More so for apartment/ condo complexes. This is not the same as "not being good at the job".
Yeah I ran over a curb the last time I DD’d at night 😂
i wonder if you get your red card if a person would get more shopping orders .do they pay more than food orders?
I paused DoorDash while multi apping and they removed my dash anytime status and let me dash for one hour only in one or two areas 🤯🤯🤯🤯
I've had this same stupid "are you safe" question twice in the middle of broad daylight in a good neighborhoods! My favorite was when I was 2 hours into a shift, and they wanted pictures of my face (I guess facial recognition to make sure it's me dashing) while driving 45mph in route to a pickup! How friggen safe is that!? Anyway, I make a lot more money at night even when moron customers don't turn on their porch lights and have no numbers on their 500K house!
They haven't implemented that in my market yet. But IMO, it should just ask for the pic before you sign on like Uber Eats does. UE also will not let you take a pic if even going 2 mph, if you decide to hit start while moving. Shame on DD. lol
But seriously, just wait until you pull over to take it and stay safe.
Anyway I am kinda glad they are implementing this. Seems people are selling accounts, and the use of a phone, to the new immigrants, and taking a big cut of their pay. It is also taking a big cut of our pay, as they saturate the market and take every order (illegally). So my guess is you are in a sanctuary state ,and why you are seeing this before me.
Facts! I was just at a multi-million dollar home last night and the Bush had grown over the house number
I get this message all the time but I live in Tampa. Go figure.
There's TOO many people doing the same thing, everyone is all chasing the same nickel. Everyone with a decent vehicle is driving these days, especially in central pa.
ive tried using the solo app but it’s too confusing so i just track them myself 💀
do you have to take pictures of you dropping off the orders
@Sara Elizabeth Where is your Body Cam? Is it still working ( it was the inexpencive one you just showed us )
Yes it is but my GoPro is better quality for my videos. I need to get a chest piece for it so I don't have to put it in my pocket to grab the food.
@@SaraElizabethYT Thank you for the reply
I get that message about once a week. I think its just part of the algorithms now. Also I don't Dash at night. Don't trust the crazy people at night.
Shit as soon as i get to where going(amazon, doordash, uber eats)& as soon as I'm done 90% of the time i remember to write down the miles 😅
sometimes the message isn't even really accurate. I've gotten the "are you safe" in gated communities in full daylight before
Don’t you love it that you have a husband that can actually be a partner and do things like make dinner! Mine is like that too! Some of these men on sm I’m like girl leave his ass if he can’t do simple life tasks for you 😂
You know you can turn the safe check thing off.
Night is the only time I DoorDash. I can do 4-5 orders a hour which makes me more money. I’ve never had problems and I start anywhere from 9 pm till 6 am. There’s no traffic and in Brandon during the day no matter what time of day it is traffic sux and I can only get 2 maybe 3 orders done in 1 hour. So I make so much more $$$$ at night.
How many miles did you put on your car in 2023?
I don’t dash at night. F that.
I heard it Sara lol
amz has there own has their own contractors using Amazon branded vehicles
I understand how you feel about night deliveries. When my car dash switches to night mode, I complete one final delivery and head home.
Wonder if the app secretly records audio without your knowledge...
When I’m dashing at night I get a cheesy bean and rice burrito from Taco Bell .😂
I like Taco bell sometimes. Bur there have been times when the food was cold. Make sure they wash their hands often.
Why does it always look like you pull up 2 the drivethu with the passenger side 2 the window
Checkers has 2 windows. One only for pickup orders and the other side is for regular ordering.
My husband and I only saw a handful of amazon blocks all December and they were all minimal pay so not worth us driving 30 mins to the warehouse 😕 really disappointed because last December we did several blocks a week and were hoping to do at least 1 block a week this year. We noticed that our area doesn't offer 4hr blocks anymore and have seen a significant decline in blocks since then.
Bidenomics if you voted for Dems then this is what happens....
Amazon flex is my main app first week of the new year I make $958 with $128 block scheduled tm but I noticed they lowered the basepay prices they try and offer our 4 hr basepay blocks were $88 but dropped it to 85. I don’t take blocks under $100 usually
My Taco bell is never ready...and I don't understand what the infatuation is with them. Restaurant doesn't even smell good??
I'm convinced many of these come about because worthless dashers were feeling petty.
Customer took too long, no porch light, etc.
I doubt that
@@srdking079 What type of experience leads you to say that?
Wait people sit on public toilet seats?!? I hover over it lol
What do you do waiting on orders it's been over an hour and nothing yet again
Move to another plaza
@SaraElizabethYT I did but lunch has came and gone should I quit for awhile? Had 1 order but it was too far away. I have yet to deliver anything I am brand new
I don't have one of those bags that keep food warm
@@MaximumDestruction80 Pizza Hut gave me a large pizza bag the first night I started door dashing. I put other food orders in there too 🙂
See ya
Why do you pull in to checkers drive through the wrong way
That side is for pick up orders only so I have too.
Bag open not good
Your the cutest little dasher ever, just saying😊
Hubby lets you go out at night ?
Hey Lady .1:28 , maybe the chicken is on the stove or......😊 I don't feel good about you working after / in the dark . Too many opportunities for the " wrong " thing to happen . Then again , I'm a " worry wart " about things as such . My new week , year , what have you , is starting off slow so I'm glad to see you busy . Letting you go so , have a good night .
I got t boned by a deer last winter. Did 2500 dollar worth of dammage
Bye...
Then don’t do it
Carry a metal dental pick in car!!!
If I'm not sure the right person is getting the order I ask them if they know my name. The one who orders usually knows the name of the driver who picks up their order. Maybe not everyone looks to see who gets their order but the ones that I ask usually know that the driver's name is mine. At a place of business I'm careful about this after seeing other videos of hand it to me at businesses the customer saying they never received it. How convient for someone to scam when there is no pic taken. Easy to steal a coworkers lunch when you see them ordering and if the person who ordered isn't around they can say that they are the person who ordered. Gosh there are so many different ways that people can steal.. 🤦♀️ Good Grief!
I hit that by accident one day
I usually go until about 7pm which is pretty much pitch black this last month or two, i don't love delivering at night but at the same time the dinner tips are too good pass up so i kind of meet in the middle, im sure i would make a decent bit more if i went until 8 or 9
At least my kfc puts them in a sealed plastic bag
Get on roadie that’s another option
I don't do any gig work after dark. Too many things can go wrong and the dark just makes it worse.
I don't know about you but after a while. I get so sick of being in my car
Waiting for school bus to get there is why cars pull on road and stop at end of communities. Lol
There's no school for 2 weeks and it was at night but I'm sure they were waiting on something though.
