This interview with Sir Patrick was what gave me the courage to shave my head after suffering from Male pattern baldness. I identified so strongly with his own struggle and the insecurity he felt when he lost his hair at 19. Sir Patrick taught me that you could be a confident, strong, masterful man if you just accepted who you were. No more hiding... cut it off.

I met him in Vancouver BC, in my family's store in Gastown. He came in one dull afternoon, dressed as a tourist, and bought two decks of cards, one red one black.
I said: "It's funny I was thinking of watching you playing King Claudius for the BBC just this morning. "
He said: "Well, there you are, you've summoned me!"
    Such a lovely man.

What an incredible actor and insightful human being.
Whenever someone laments about how all the true greats are gone, I remind them that we still have Patrick Stewart...and they stand corrected.

going bald when you're young is horrible I wouldn't mind later on in life but my hair started to go when I was 20 and when people make cruel remarks for a laugh it can be hurtful because its something you have no control over.

well I still have hair all over its just very light on top the scalp is visible and I took pride in my hair I often grew it long and it was very full but now I wear hats all the time, I don't think I would look good bald either. but its gonna happen

I am using an anti hair loss product which name is argan rain .. After using it I started seeing immediate results of less hair loss. I would suggest you use it with pure argan oil.

As a 23 year old who has been bald for 3 years I can relate to a lot of this. Losing your hair sucks, especially at a young age, but honestly being bald isn’t that bad and once you get over your insecurity I’ve found you actually become more confident.

    • @Michael-hc2vs

Patrick Stewart means alot to me. He reminds me so much of my dad, to the point where I feel that watching TNG when my dad dies would help me through it! Sad I know. I think I'll actually be very emotional when Patrick Stewart dies!

I started going bald in my mid 20s and posted something online about how depressing it was. Somebody posted this video, and honestly it gave me a lot of hope and a lot of heart. Made me feel less alone. I recommend it to others, and come back here to watch it a few times a year. It is incredibly hard for anyone, man or woman to lose their hair, it's literally a part of yourself. But I honestly believe the best way forward is to embrace the hair loss, and to be yourself. I firmly believe "Now you be yourself. No more hiding" is good advice for anyone compensating for a shortcoming, which let's be honest, is most of us. Nothing beats reality, and being honest and confident in your imperfect self IS something people are attracted to. Be YOU.

Just went bald today, 12/2/24 at 7:30pm I was free of the worry. A week before my 20th birthday I picked up the shaver and went "now you be yourself, no more hiding" and the rest is history. If you're a young guy losing your hair, shave whilst you're still ahead. Thanks Patrick for giving me the courage to do it.

I remember having a co-worker who had the thinning combover scalp for the longest time, and we all gently encouraged him to trim it because it wasn't having the effect he was hoping. When he finally did, it looked similar to Stewart (bald scalp, crown of hair around the temples) and it looked perfectly fine!

A dedicated gentleman. While performing at the Guthrie (Virginia Wolf) in Minneapolis, he agreed to speak to my middle school theater class, we were in rehearsal Midsummer Nights Dream. Unfortunately the show was demanding and he lost his voice, but called and graciously offered to come when when he returned healthy. He was willing to take time for a group of wonderfully dedicated middle school students! I am very impressed. He had HAIR in Virginia Wolf. He's MUCH better looking bald.

I can still make out his West Yorkshire accent like never before. Could be mixing with Parky that brings it out. My mate comes from Barnsley, lived in Mirfield like Stewart, and says I have a BBC accent although it's pretty much 2014 Guiseley and anybody from the South would say I am very broad Northern. I live in Wisconsin (Wiscaaarnsin) now, but as soon as I get off the plane at Manchester and go into Morrison's, I come over all ee by gum and bacon in brown with butter and all in 10 seconds ! That's what happening to Stewart in this interview - accent by association with Parky

Well this happened in the late 50's so probably not the best time to lose your hair to be honest. People are much more open minded now. But I wish he had known back then how much recognition he'd get and that this really was no biggie at all. Now he's over 70 for gods sake and still handsome as f*ck. He hasn't aged one bit, partly due to the fact he lost his hair such a long time ago.
