My dad is from Nanih Waiya Winston county area George Robinson his family calls him sonny lol I was telling him about tht mound he said he knew where it was but I haven’t ever heard of it until I seen ur video tht is awesome to see tho
Great video cuz. Been a long time since I walked on that mound. Thanks for taking me back to it ! Very cool … Also I’ve always wondered why the other NW mound got so much attention and many people don’t even know that one exist but yet it’s twice the size 🤷🏻♂️🤷🏻♂️
The mound at the park you were speaking of does have a cave that starts at the water and goes in. My father spoke of going in it when he was a kid in the 30’s. It was said that yes the woman and kids were hid in there during times of war. So I’ve heard.
The mound at the park doesnt have a cave but there is a cave about 1/2 mile from it . They say thats where the dirt came from to build the mound but im not sure thats fact. But im sure its the one he went in
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors I read on a display in the Choctaw Museum next to the Choctaw MS post office that the Choctaw say that the first people came out of a cave near the NW mound. I wonder if it is the same cave that you are talking about? If it is, then that is where the Choctaw creation story says they first came into the world. It's pretty neat that you've been there.
Great video, just wanted to say I have the same multi - tool knife with the fork and spoon etc. mine is pretty rusty so i have a lot of work to do to get in shape. thanks for doing these video's keep them coming.
YES, PLEASE. Make a video on your D.I.Y. fire kits. I knew about the cotton balls with Vaseline, but I ain't familiar with the wafers your talking about.
Just ran across this one… I shared a post on my FB that says Choctaw was created at these mounds. And that there is 3 mounds there in Nanih Waiya. Obviously the main one on 393. Then this one (which I’ve never been to). So there is 1 more somewhere…. I was only familiar with the 393 mound and the cave. Is this mound near the cave?
This may sound crazy… but there were a lot of giant bones found in mounds all over the world. Research it. A buddy and I found some weird things in one here in East Texas on the Sabine River
Its a petroleum jelly so its basically combustible. One slight spark and it will ignite. It also burns a little longer but the wax and cotton will burn the longest
Gotta laugh, Mississippi, about your comment about the dog and the wife. I've been married over 40 years. First fuss we ever had I said why can't you be like so and so. She always agrees with her husband. Wife said I can tell you what you want to hear. I could lie to you if that's what you want but I always want to tell you the truth. She's been telling me the truth for 40 years. Sometimes it gets kind of tough but when it gets right down to it I've got no use for a liar and a lot of respect for her. That's something a dog can't do. Plus, far as I can remember, she's never smelled like a skunk.
Me and this woman going on 19 years this year and its been some tough spots but we livin good now . Almost completely debt free again. Takes a good woman to agree on money
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors don't know if you've ever read that poem by Rudyard Kipling, IF, but if you haven't you ought to. I'm going on 69 and all those things he talks about in that poem have happened, in smaller or larger ways and sometimes from unexpected places. I look around now and what I see is my kids and the rock who has always stood beside me. That's my legacy and all the good I've ever done in this old world. May you be so lucky. That is a fine boy you've got there. Teach him that it's not what you are or what you've got but WHO you are that counts. My old Dad used to say, "Take care of your name. It's all you got." I listened some as a young man but never knew how much it would count until I started getting long in the tooth.

I have never been to your state , it’s all very foreign looking land to me . I appreciate you filming the swamp and nature for us watching . 😎👩🏻🦳
Its fun to me . I grew up in this mud
Love the canoe! You are blessed!
Thank you. God has been good to me

Thank you
It's fun getting out in canoe but not many folks get out like that anymore
I really enjoy it. Water is low and storms blew a lot of trees into the creeks this spring so its gonna be tough this fall
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors heard that, got a lot blowed down up here as well, unreal at some places
There are other mounds in the swamp at Burnside and Arlington.

U definitely brave ain’t no way I wld stay out there by my self lol!!!!! Heck no!!!!!!! Lol!!!!

I’ve seen that mound on the topo map and wondered if it was a built mound. I’ve only seen the mound and the cave mound.
There is a gravel road right up to it.
I figured u was out toward burnside lol
You ever find any arrow 🏹 heads 🤔 in your travels
I have not. I found 1 as a kid. Floods and washes debris over everything in the swamp
Awesome! What management area is this in? I’m down in pearl river county
You can have all the tree mold to eat
What kinda ferro rod is that?!
Put you some sponges btm of canoe, it'll soak that water up
What swamp are u in

Ive herd there is one somewhere else. Ill see if i can find where
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors you know… that cave is in the side of a big Ol hill. Wonder if the cave hill isn’t the 3rd mound?

What does the Vaseline do to the cotton ball?? Does it make it hold fire longer?
Its a petroleum jelly so its basically combustible. One slight spark and it will ignite. It also burns a little longer but the wax and cotton will burn the longest
I have a video on making them
@@SpiritoftheOutdoors great I’ll check it out.. do you film with a GoPro at all? If so what go pro do you use?
Gators??
A few
You ever trap any crawfish out there???
Never tried
Any gators?
Oh yea we got a few gators
Is this the NW cave?
No this is the mound down on the river below beaver slough and sheilds crossing
Maybe a piece of space rock fell and pushed it up
Lmao 😂 taste like Styrofoam cup
