The creative industry (not just cinema) absolutely enfasizes ''Originality'' in new works from the time of education, so someone who would actually copy-paste previous stories into film would NEVER advance in his her studies and work. There HAS to be some change, better be a lot of change, ''personal touch'', for the grades and success to come. So no, do not expect a faithful adaptation of x or y, they will (almost) never do it. Let's hope they hire better creatives or the executives let them be good.
I think the reason why Zod was the villain for the flash is because Henry Cavill was originally supposed to be there. However, since they cut him out, the teams had to redraft their script and everything which sucks.
They should've just taken some of the ideas and casting decisions from the CW shows, and used them for the live action movies. With a bigger budget and better writing it could've been something great.
@@knoober3756I don’t believe it’s a worse version of the future flash story from the comics cause bruh at least CW’s Savitar was a original take on the character The DCEU just directly copied the CW with Dark Flash.
They had an established universe with Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman and fkng Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Thomas Wayne, they had permission to use ANY character of DC. So... WHY IN THE HELL THEY DINDT DO A GOOD ADAPTATION FLASHPOINT?! This is what happen when you give power to an Independiente's fan
Honestly I don’t really care about it. I really wanted to see Man of Steel 2 & Justice League 2(without Ezra and Amber). I think removing Henry Cavill and making this Flash movie was a HUGE mistake.
The only silver lining was that it was the send off to batfleck and gave us a modern style fight scene with Keaton. That’s pretty much it. They also screwed up cuz Keaton and reeve are supposed to be on the same earth, earth 789.
no, reeves and keaton were always on different earths. keaton's earth only has bats while reeves only has supes but i do agree that they should not have made him keaton batman just have him be batfleck but older, let keaton act rather than just dryly re say the same dialogues would have worked out better
Barry put the cans of tomato from the bottom shelf to the top shelf so that when his Father will grab the tomatoes. He looks up in the camera catch him . George Clooney was there, because Barry didn’t learn his lesson and had done something to change the timeline again.
Maybe is because im not a comic guy, but i did enjoy the movie, also i didnt went with expectation so i can guess that helped. Cool movie, but i do agree cgi is the worst ive seen in a long time
@@bryannoah9023 yeah that’s what I told my friend the moment the movie ended, I know a little because my girlfriend sees the show, but for someone who doesn’t know anything .. that’s bad writing
I want to say The CWs Crisis on infinite earth's is a better DC comic multiversal story than this movie where it appropriately built up to it over 7 years and that was the most logical story to adapt. This movie being a multiverse movie feels last minute & not built up.
@@isidroundercover that as a whole is the big problem with the DCEU, instead of actually building up the characters and the story line WB wanted to directly "catch up" with MCU and the Avengers team up asap and now multiverse. After Man of Steel they just wanted to throw everything and everyone in without even introducing and exploring the characters properly. I genuinely liked the idea of a darker comic DC universe, but they sacrificed something that could've been potentially actually good and different. But no let's just instantly make BvS and throw WW, mention The Flash, Aquaman and Cyborg for the future Justice League without knowing anything about the characters (except WW movie). Let's also do the death of Superman even tho it's literally the 2nd movie in the franchise and resurrect him right after that. WarnerBros wanted the short gain and expected people to cheer them for that while everyone knew they are trying to make a cheap catch up with Marvel. In my language there is a saying "cooking a soup with grapes" which basically means throwing everything in something even if it doesn't make sense to be there expecting to be good. This is basically what WB did and they did it again with The Flash.
The best version of this film was rick famuyiwa original pitch idea of Flash and Cyborg in a buddy cop style pairing. That would of been a better movie hands down as Famuyiwa was writing it and his films are always solid.
Exactly, however this movie rehashed the same shyt that was sone on the CW. I questioned why are they going down this road when u got a show that’s been on for 8 years
Zod isn't the antagonist...Barry is. The moment he touches that can...he becomes the antagonist....we think he learns his lesson...and surprise...he doesn't. George Clooney and Barry's messed up tooth *roll credits*
I don't really look at Zodd as the villain of the film and I don't think the film did either. In a way, Barry becomes his own antagonist. Zodd showing up to me felt like they needed someone formidable to create another scenario where Barry needs to learn to finally let go -- which was the repeated deaths of Batman and Supergirl -- something he learns through seeing Barry-2 not being able to let go. Also, and this is just speculation, it may also be a way to maybe address something that people have kinda asked about with regards to Man of Steel: where were the other metahumans when Zodd attacked Metropolis? I think it's a nice touch to look into Barry's failure when he started off, and the film does touch on how Barry tries to do good and fails at it, or that he fails to recognise that some things are beyond him and he can't fix everything i.e. his mother dying, his dad staying in prison, and how his company conducts their forensic investigations.
The story might have been better if the dark flash appeared more and had the vibe of being the true actual antagonist and zod is basically the obstacle barry cannot overcome and dark flash stops him from going back in time to fix his mistake. Like the movie spent like an hour saying zod is the problem completely forgetting the being that punch barry out of the speed force at a time period way before his time. The movie had no true actual antagonist since basically barry was his own antagonist but it was never shown visually with scenes.
@johnwinchesterp2963 I get what you're saying, but the problem there is that Dark Flash needs Barry to get stuck in the past in order to get him to train and give his younger self (Barry-2, who's Dark Flash's younger self) his powers. You also have to consider the fact that Barry-2's timeline is in trouble due to no Superman being there and going back in time won't stop Zodd's invasion in this timeline that he's created, hence why Barry even tries to stop Zodd: to fix his a mistake he may not have the solution to, which ties back around to the big lesson he has to learn.
@@Susanoo7108 Yeah I meant it in a way to have dark flash loom in the shadows and perhaps try to stop them from going through certain routes to make sure he is created. You know something to make the viewers feel his presence wondering who is he and wondering why isn't he attacking barry when he can and then the viewers realize that he needed barry to teach his past self how to time travel for the dark flash to be created. Keep zod since practically he is the first big threat earth faced so it would make sense for the flash to deal with the mess now that he changed the timeline but put the dark flash in certain scenes to make the viewers remember him instead of appearing once at the first 30 minutes of the movie and once towards the end.
It is lazy regardless. But if it’s going to be done there are clear blue prints on what works and what doesn’t. I shouldn’t have to spell that out so you understand it, even though I did spell it out and you still managed to comment this.
The Flash is literally one of the top ten BEST superhero movies ever made. It has a smart script with a lot of heart, genuine humor and fan service done the right way. Honestly, The Flash is a PERFECT film. I saw it five times theatrically and several times at home on 4K UHD. Honestly, as much as I love James Gunn, his new DCU is going to have a hard time topping The Flash...and he knows it which is why he (wisely) retained Flash director Andy Muschietti to direct the DCU Batman movie, Brave and the Bold. I only wish they'd been able to lore Flash writer Christina Hodson back too
It’s actually the best cbm sense the dark knight, James Gunn and Tom cruise were right, the only real complaint with the movie I hear from people that I do understand is reviving the dead actors at the need of the film like both of the Superman’s George and Chris but like those were only 15 seconds long so I really don’t understand how that ruins the rest of the movie, all in all the hate for this movie was just kinda overblown, I absolute love it
When Batman is making the spaghetti and calls it a hot mess or something, it’s perfect metaphor for this movie. When the Flash eats it so fast without thinking about it. It represents the people who think this movie is good.
I find the Flash's "Don't change what's established" theme really odd because we just came off a whole bunch of movies that actively shake the established order. "Back To The Future" ends with Marty changing the future as a good thing. Miles Morales' very existence as Spiderman is considered an anomaly in the timeline and he causes another one; but he refuses to back-down, consequences be damned.
The theme wasnt “dont change whats established”, the theme was not every problem you have has a solution. It means there are certain problems in your life you can only accept, and thats what he learns. He still saves his dad, he did change that.
29 seconds into the video and this is where was disagree. He heard people “hyping the video like it was a masterpiece”… here in America, we didn’t. After all of the missteps, I don’t know if anyone that thought the movie was going to be anything above average.
Kinda funny James Gunn hyped this movie as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. Meanwhile, his own movie GOTG 3, released the same year, is far superior. It's likely always been just promo talk as DCU CEO but still funny to think about.
It is like playing with action figures. The kids who had all the toys never needed an imagination the same way because as soon as they got bored with the toy a new one arrived. I imagine the writers were like these kinda kids.
Michael Shannon received $1 million for his contribution... for 2 weeks of work😂 Keaton received $2 million.. great to get paid for little work.😆 Imagine just standing behind green screen for 2 weeks then it's " ok cut.. print" thanks Michael" lol..."oh here's your $1 million be cool man".
its ironic because everything fresh in this movie was Keaton related, they really didn't need the lets get nuts line in the final cut, its far too self referential... the I'm batman line alone should have been all they needed for the movie but this movie had so little substance they used it. the new batwing, the outdated early 90s tech, the badass fight in a Russian gulag, that was all fucking amazing. even Bruce smiling as he sewed up a graze on his arm was great. DC should just give us a Keaton Batman Beyond movie. Get Sam Hamm and Bruce Timm to hash out a treatment, Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers to write it and Burton to produce it.
Totally agree! The cameos were pointless... and it's annoying when they force the moments that should cause nostalgia, like pushing you: now be moved by this old cameo, be surprised!
I loved how you said that Nostalgia Bait is not a recent thing, it happened a lot during the old cinema times, and also the whole ideia of movies beign content, is actually the beggining of hollywood, they saw movies as products, that is why they put them in a room to get forgotten with dust or to burn because the room wasn't cold enough and the film was made of dangerous material. That is why 99% of old films are completely lost, Hollywood never and will never make art if we don't fight for it
The I’m Batman scene makes sense in context though. Younger Barry is fanboying over the Batcave & Batman & Bruce even delivers the line in a tired semi exasperated way like: yeah yeah I’m Batman get over it.
Using GENERAL ZOD as the villain made PERFECT sense to me. He was convenient. The DC movie makers needed a scary, “unstoppable”, ALREADY ESTABLISHED menace to throw against our time-travelling Flash. At nearly 2 ½ hours long, this movie DIDN’T HAVE TIME to introduce and flesh-out a NEW, “unstoppable” menace (like Professor Zoom/“Reverse Flash”). For the sake of brevity, they needed someone the audience would IMMEDIATELY RECOGNIZE…so it was either General Zod, or that CGI flunky, “Steppenwolf”. …and nobody wants more Steppenwolf.
They use the multiverse mainly to miscast heros like Supergirl, and Spiderman, Aquaman that has been miscasted for a long time, and it's also done for the nostalgia bait.
Nope, you’re wrong. I sense a lot of hate over a repetitive trope between film snobs about George Clooney 8:12. This from the same type of people that hated on Afleck when it was announced he was going to become Batman - as it turned out, he was my favorite Batman. All these UA-cam critics have been doing this long enough, that you’ve actually become bitter and angry; they can no longer just enjoy a fun movie. Sure the VFX was bad, but overall it wasn’t a bad movie as many as these over-glorified tubers suggest. I liked it, but I’m glad it bombed. It is wrong how the studio has covered for Miller. It is wrong how these studios milk VFX companies.
After retooling a fifteen year old project, it is like having any other movie that was sporadically developed only to be scrapped and retooled. There is only so much that can be said for a diluted flashpoint movie. Flashpoint is not family friendly and to dumb it down to meet it with relatable characters in an attempt to put butts in seats. You fail. Great video.
Well you gotta remember, Barry still fucked with the past since he changed the arrangement of the tomato sauce, as his father was proven innocent. Yeah it was dumb, but George Clooney showing up made since in a way. But... Yeah nostalgia was the key word for this film.
It really irritates me when people say Hollywood is out of ideas, while the critics are just sitting on their couch doing nothing. If you think writing a brand new story after thousands of years of storytelling is easy , then you write a movie.
That's an extremely close minded point of view. People are in place for this job already, people are professionals in this field already. Are you gonna go play for the Lakers just because you're not happy with how Lebron's playing? No.
@@movieoverload that would be an accurate analogy if you said WB was out of ideas, or the DCEU. But you're saying Hollywood as a whole the same way you would complain about the NBA as a whole. Then at that point, yes, why are you watching, why are you supporting? If you think everyone in the NBA is garbage, then show me how you can do better.
The Flash also highlighted the hypocracy of Hollywood today: If Ezra Miller hadn't pretend to be a member of the LGBTQ+ community, the studio would have dropped him like the hot potato he is after coming out as an unhinged, criminal child groomer. Him catching the badies at the start left a more than sour taste in my mouth, and I had the urge to take a long shower throughout the movie.
I enjoyed it alot, laughed alot. I assumed the speed force cgi was a creative choice looking like a fluid painting creative style before the director said thats what it was, but i guess I get it that others only saw what could be flaws. I seperate actors from the characters so ive always loved Barry Allen. I also would have added Cavill and the tv flash, but would have gotten rid of Gal Gadet for her pointless cringe 1 liner smile look she always gives. I didnt see it for OG batman, George Clooney was the first batman I saw as a kid so that was cooler to me. (Not how it was handled, but him being in it i liked). I appreciate your breakdown! But i love the multiverse hopping. Thats closer to actual reality the further science progresses. I had alot of fun with this movie and i think im pretty picky, didnt even care to see Shazam 2 or black adam. Those looked like obvious quick cash grabs.
Couldnt agree more. Think the only ppl that dislike this movie are a very tiny percentage of super die hard fans. It’s a solid 8/10 movie. Wouldnt been a 9 if ending wasn’t so lackluster and if the villain wasn’t underpowered.

@@alexmanrique2280absolutely… I didn’t hear anything about superhero fatigue when Guardians of the Galaxy 3 came out. I wonder why? Could it be because it was a really good movie that did well at the box office? I thought The Flash was decent. I was entertained. It was interesting how Barry 2 somehow made Barry 1 tolerable by comparison. The beginning of the movie felt like a bit cringy, watching Ezra play the character, but the dynamic of the two Barry’s ended up redeeming things to some degree. The movie may qualify as a “bomb” relative to the hype and the box office results, but I didn’t feel like it was a terrible movie like a lot of bombs tend to be.
Flashpoint should NEVER have been the first Flash movie. It's the same mistake they made by having Parallax be the antagonist of the first Green Lantern movie. That's the original sin- the stakes were far too high. Even IF Ezra Miller's many many personal issues weren't present, they couldn't have spun Flashpoint into a first Flash movie and keep it grounded.
Shasha Calle's Supergirl costume was properly fixed on that ridiculous 6 pack thanks to the fans' backlash. I've said it once, I'll say it again...Shasha and her take on Supergirl is something to be watched more in the future over better scripts.
Kind of wonder if people now a days actually pay attention to the movies they see... my friend the main villain wasn't Zod, the very same Flash was the origin and end of everything here... and quite possibly he was the killer of her mom in the first time line but that's just a theory... a game theory
A big difference for me between “film” and “content” is that a film should be entertaining and make me reflect, and content is just something to have in in the background while I’m on my phone I skipped this “thing” cuz I don’t know why a studio would dump ~$300m into it, nor why I should pay>$15 for a ticket for content
The worst part about the Clooney cameo is that Clooney and Keaton ARE THE SAME BRUCE WAYNE. It made no sense in thr context of the movies. It was done just for a cheap laugh (wasn't even funny)
It's not you, I promise. With all the major DC and Marvel influencers supporting this film before it was released to the public, the hype machine is very suspect. I think this is either a new form of payola, or big sub influencers have been warned they will lose access to DC productions which is owned by the WB. (this studio has a history of blocking or demonetizing content that criticizes their films if they use clips). Either way, I don't trust any channel that supported this film as one of the best of it's genre. This was ill-conceived from conception to post production - just a hot mess. Many influencers are back-tracking now to save face, but they still blame low box office on things like CGI being rushed in production - which was just one of the many flaws. Almost seems like they got the same notes from the studio on how they can criticize this film.
ok , can someone explain to me why at then end the mother doesn't recognize her son in the grocery store as and older version , he literally looks the same and she treats him like a stranger , am I trippin ? did I miss something ? no one is talking about this !
Across the spider verse is a perfect example of “turn your brain off” it has an amazing story and it is a fun and goofy movie that you can just enjoy while it’s being amazing
Across The Spider Verse is actually smart in dealing with its themes of young adulthood and individuality. If you turn your brain off - of course - you miss it. I have never understood the mentality of turn your brain off. Why would anyone 'brag' about something like that? lol.
Nah man, you can't turn your brain off watching Spider-Verse, that movie has too many details in the background, it actually slows down in the various scenes that focuses on Miles personal problems and there's a pretty cool twist at the end where at least you had to pay attention to figure it out I don't personally believe in the turn your brain off mantra, even in stupid movies like the Michael Bay Transformers movies I had trouble finding something to like about them besides the action because the movies' plot, narrative and continuity contradicts itself various times that makes them hard to enjoy
@@pablocasas5906 i’m not saying you should turn your brain off, but i’m just saying you can turn your brain off, also i liked not noticing that it said (the little easter egg before the ending, if we are talking abt the same thing) cuz it was more of shock, also you don’t NEED to notice all the easter eggs, it’s just fun

The Flash should've been a goodbye to DCEU but they fucked it up with the cameos no one asked for. Atleast bring back Gran Gustin Flash and All the members of Justice League for the one last time. Tell us the story of Flashpoint Paradox with the Synderverse characters instead of whatever you wrote. And end the movie with Ezra Miller's dying at the end of the movie and Gran Gustin's Flash replacing him fixing the universe and then you can make all James Gunn changes you want with that New Universe. It would not only be a great send off for the characters we were following since Man of Steel. But also a Thankyou for the fans like myself that stick throughout this universe.
The Quicksilver element in the X-Men was the best part of those movies due to not only the character but the great CGI effects. They totally missed the mark in this one with the baby's...OMG ! What were they thinking ! Missed opportunity their.

About the cameos at the end. I would be a bit better if the studio came out and said that they asked the actors and/or their families to see if they could have been in the movie first. If not, the scrap that idea. I did like SOME of the cameos (Nicolas Cage as Superman) But they should have asked first. At the end, I thought that Barry is now in a new universe with George Clooney as Batman. Not clinging over to the past Batman & Robin version.
I hyped it because as a dc fan I just really really REALLY wanted dc to come out with ONE win that's all I wanted I don't think having hope is a bad thing but it's getting hard to have any
Hope is never a bad thing, putting your faith in a big company like that is a waste of time and energy. DC doesn't care about comics, movies, the characters in them, or the fans. They are trying to make a ton of money bedore it's time to close up shop and that is it.
I liked it. Everyone is a critic these days... and over analyze everything. What's wrong with Fan service? I enjoyed the cameos! A lot of work go into these movies just for the fans to shit on it because they have a personal vendetta against actors and their personal life (Ezra Miller) 😅 or they believe a movie should look or be a certain way. We all can't be directors or writes people 😂😂😂
There is a huge difference between "nostalgia bate" and devising a story around legacy characters, otherwise every episode two of a TV show is "nostalgia bate" or worse - fan service. For me, No Way Home was a completion, of sorts, of Toby's and Andrew's stories. Without them, the Peter Parker's story couldn't have happened. Replace them with other actors and the film would have lost no box office, however odd a decision it would have seemed. Contrariwise, without Michael Keaton in The Flash, nothing would have needed to be changed. Anyone in a bat-costume would have worked just as well but the box office would have been ten per cent lower. Motivation exposed. You paid twice. You make too much money.
the "turn off your brain and enjoy" argument also makes no sense when they kept overhyping this film as the holy grail of superhero films (oh and yes someone really said that...a movie critic did and posted it online) and that its a "must see" film
@@Chuck_EL A "must see" film or a "must be seen to be believed" debacle? I've seen enough evidence of cinematic incompetence over the last few years to accept that some critics must have heaved a deep sigh of relief when they realised there was an attempt at a coherent plot for once and the characters were mostly recognisable as humans. That might seem enough of a reason to recommend it in their eyes. Like when a cat walks over your keyboard and accidentally types "Meow" on the screen, you want to tell somebody...
What you all don’t realize is that you been coughing up money for mediocre products for the last 20 years. At one point it felt like a crime to criticize anything. Ppl praise everything that I personally wouldn’t pay money for. Here we are! It’s completely warranted.
So much missed potential. as a DC fan, seeing a movie revolving around the flash and batman should be a dream come true, but what we actually got was in every possible way the wrong way of doing it. it really is a shame
They probably used Zod as the villain because Steppenwolf and Darkside would require expensive CGI, but then again he was the first superbad to appear chronologically. Batman in the Snyderverse did have Joker and possibly more of his rogues, but they weren't a planetary disruption.
Why so much hate on this movie, for me, it was great, long movie with tons of cool action scenes, and really sad moments, the cast was ok, supergirl was great, the story and effects were not the best of all but overall ok, even the last scene was great when flash hug her mom, and the multi universe cgi was ok, not great but over all ok, and I loved nicolas cage on superman costume, so overall it was an enjoyable movie with sad moments and funny scenes, BTW nothing wrong on having supergirl instead of superman, let girls shine .....
It wasn't as bad as this guy is nickpicking it to be, but I wished the director would have stuck to the original Flashpoint source rather than doing his own.
And your reaction to The Flash is “everything wrong” with sofa critics of film today. 👍🏽 The film was a mix of drama and humor. And it works. And to one of your points, I’d actually say the true villain, and or antagonist in this film, is the younger Barry Allen.
I’m still trying to figure out how Zod stabbed Kara? 🤔🤯. Superman can’t be stabbed… weakened state or not. No Kryptonite. Why does he run like he’s on rollerblades? 😣
I think the Flash was a good movie. I think whats wrong is the lack of moviegoers these days. I think before streaming, this would have been a high grossing film. Pre-Covid Lockdown and Pre Streaming. I think that the manners in how the cinema events and movie advertisements are done has changed the energy of moviegoers. In addition to social media. Because the point of this movies isn't a multiversal story, at all.

I only wish they'd been able to lore Flash writer Christina Hodson back too
It’s actually the best cbm sense the dark knight, James Gunn and Tom cruise were right, the only real complaint with the movie I hear from people that I do understand is reviving the dead actors at the need of the film like both of the Superman’s George and Chris but like those were only 15 seconds long so I really don’t understand how that ruins the rest of the movie, all in all the hate for this movie was just kinda overblown, I absolute love it
I found it funny that the costume designer made the cowl movable but Keaton said no, make it stiff lmfao!!

Kinda funny James Gunn hyped this movie as one of the greatest superhero movies of all time. Meanwhile, his own movie GOTG 3, released the same year, is far superior.

The cameos were pointless... and it's annoying when they force the moments that should cause nostalgia,
like pushing you: now be moved by this old cameo, be surprised!
That is why 99% of old films are completely lost, Hollywood never and will never make art if we don't fight for it
Great video essay! Balanced and fair assessment as usual. Keep the videos coming!
Thank You for being Honest and Real about this film! You have gotten a new fan here.

The fact that Flash starred production in 2004
That's insane for it to end up like this
It really irritates me when people say Hollywood is out of ideas, while the critics are just sitting on their couch doing nothing.
The Flash also highlighted the hypocracy of Hollywood today:

Batman in the Snyderverse did have Joker and possibly more of his rogues, but they weren't a planetary disruption.
at that 1:05 mark, you can hear the massive disappointment he has in himself for paying twice to see this movie lol
It was a fun movie. Not a great film...but it was fun
Agreed
The ending is just normal flashpoint ending
It wasn't as bad as this guy is nickpicking it to be, but I wished the director would have stuck to the original Flashpoint source rather than doing his own.
This kind of movies are a kind a test the customers...as customers we have right to demand quality art...
The flash shouldn’t have been a multiverse movie, they should’ve stuck with just a separate timeline, and stuck to the original flashpoint storyline
And your reaction to The Flash is “everything wrong” with sofa critics of film today. 👍🏽
The film was a mix of drama and humor. And it works. And to one of your points, I’d actually say the true villain, and or antagonist in this film, is the younger Barry Allen.
that "let's get nuts" line was so cringey and garnered no cheers in my theater hall.
Yeah there was no reaction in mine either. Felt so forced.
The Batsuit nipples aren't that bad. Everyone has been trashing it for decades, but it isn't the worst thing ever.
Its SUPER EASY to downplay a movie and for it to go viral. Im looking at the sidebar as I type and all I see is 'FLOP", "DONE FOR", "OVERHYPED" etc. Negativity sales! Seems like people put more energy towards seeing the demise of things that the opposite.
I WOULD definitely agree to a lot of the things that the video points out and I WOULD say that this doesnt meet the same calliber of Spiderman No way Home.
Zodd performance is next to Heath Ledger's 🎭
If I already play the game and use the link do I still get anything?
