Equal Sign balances this album out and shows his range, imo. He brought that thread with him from Hope World, and it is like the piece of his soul that holds all the others together. 💜
I love JHope! I love his duality! He did Lollapalooza in Chicago last summer. First of the guys to do a solo project. He pulled off an hour long concert on his own. It was the most amazing concert of a solo artist in my life time. I am 62. Broke records with that! A lot of BTS songs have the 90's vibe. Which I love!
You’re on the right path with Arson. He is talking about how his driving passion and career is like a fire that got bigger than expected and he accidentally committed arson on the world. But he also talks about how all his goals are complete and he’s seemingly reached the top. He’s grappling with whether or not to snuff out the fire or to let it grow bigger and there will be consequences, good or bad, for both of those choices.
Fun fact : arson performance was ranked by MAMA as the #3 most iconic performance of all time ..no dancers not even choreography just this man and his genius music and incredible stage presence!
14:35 you hit the nail on the head! j-hope is one heck of a stage performer thanks to his dance background, natural charisma and love for music. He was actually worried during this MAMA performance about filling up the stage with just him, since BTS would normally perform on these stages as a group. His songs aren't choreo heavy either so he needed to add dynamism to the stage. He, the backup dancers, and the performance director did an incredible job of staging this. Never a dull moment with j-hope!
Seeing jhope being named the dark side is hilarious cause before his latest album he had the most lovely music between the members and he is a very energetic and lovely person (his introduction is "i'm your hope, you're my hope...i'm jhope").
What’s funny is that despite the SOUND of Hobi’s old music being much brighter the LYRICS were actually much more…depressing(?)- can’t think of a better word for it rn. I think “Daydream” is a perfect example of that bc visually and sonically it’s so bright and upbeat but lyrically he’s basically listing all the normal things he’ll never be able to do (saying that he came only daydream abt those things) Despite not originally being a rapper, Hobi truly is a very fascinating artist that requires just as much analysis and lyrical dissection as Joon + Yoongi
Yea, a lot of people when reacting to daydream don't realize the darkness behind the lyrics bc they don't realize that the happy things he talks about are just a daydream in his perspective@@Ahjusshi_Brown
It’s just one of his persona, he got his dark, mature side as he mentioned multiple times in his interviews in the past two years. Hope World may have the upbeat , positive sounding music but the lyrics is the opposite. Jack in the Box album, on the other hand, may have a darker, rock sound but the message is more hopeful
I love how you guys mentioned that J-hope has a crossover between Rm and Suga since he wasn't originally a rapper and practiced with the other two before discovering his own style. Some will say Rm an Suga actually taught him in their trainee days.
He himself said that he practiced with RM + Yoongi a lot during their trainee days to develop his own style (he says it in numerous BTS documentaries/docuseries starting with “Burn the Stage”)
j-hope is the best performer in the industry and I'd put him up against anyone globally any day. That's not even just my opinion, that's widely recognized in the kpop community (and growing in the west too). His live vocals are the best in the group and his performance is just god tier. Musically, he's really hard to get a hold on. Yoongi has a really distinct style that he pretty much sticks to (because it's amazing so why not!). RM has more range but his tone is constant through his work so he's really recognizable. So, for the most part, you see what they do in BTS and in a few solo tracks and you have a pretty good idea of what to expect from them. With j-hope, it'll just take a lot more songs for you to realize that his signature is versatility. Even now a days, he'll drop tracks and seasoned ARMYs will be like "IS THAT J-HOPE??" On songs like Blue Side and Baseline, you'd think they had 4 different rappers on them. But it's all just j-hope. He's a vocalist too so he sings a lot. He has a great belt and a lovely, pitch-perfect falsetto, and pretty vibrato. He has this kind of belly cry that you might pull out as a j-hope thing and his voice for the most part has a little texture to it but other than that, he's just a constant surprise. And not just vocally/tonally. His genre range is huge too. These were boom-bap and grunge but he does low-fi, R&B, modern trap rap, old school west coast (he loves record scratches, haha), edm, funk...he's an old school hip hop head at heart but he plays around with that foundation a lot. But all that being said, he definitely has a brand. It's always somewhere in this surreal place with varying degrees of hope, optimism, color, whimsy but also melancholy or a bit of something sinister. The whole concept of his "character" and his artistic vision is that Jung Hoseok (his real name) was this element in a box and when Pandora opened it to call upon "hope," he sloughed off all of the bits of himself that were unfit for that grand mission and emerged as j-hope to assuage the ills of mankind. But the fear and angst and cynicism and doubt he left behind took on a life of its own and festered until it eventually sprang forth as "Jack" (Jack in the Box--is the title of his second album where j-hope returns to reconcile with Jack and they have a conversation about the role hope plays in his/their life, in humanity, and his role as an agent of hope). His entire discography has elements of both j-hope and Jack. His lyrics are generally high concept and work within their albums to advance a narrative but translations often to a poor job of capturing the cleverness and depth because he writes really abstractly and leaves out lots of things like tense and pronouns and context clues, and makes references to really obscure things that can be hard to track down. Wow, I really just went down a rabbit hole here. Anyway, I did all this mostly to draw attention to his skill, his intelligence, and his quality as an artist. Which I'm sure you can see for yourself. But because RM & Suga were underground rappers, and j-hope was a street dancer, people have a tendency to separate them out a little. But he's been rapping and writing for 13 years and is a master of his craft. He's completely unique, one-of-one, and 1/3 of the best rap line in the business. I hope you'll keep checking out his stuff. You could try his live stage of his song Mama (not to be confuse with the award show MAMA) if you want to check out his vocals. :)
Hermoso como describes a JHope admiro a personas que saben escoger las palabras correctas para hablar de un artista por qué eso es BTS y todos ellos ARTE
ARMYs always say that BTS rapline is really the top of the top, in terms of delivery and lyrics. And we describe each of them like: RM - raps from his mind (he’s very intellectual and philosophical, his wordplays are topnotch and his references are chef’s kiss. you really need to study to decipher Namjoon’s songs most of the time) SUGA - raps from his soul (his raps contains the story of himself, very vulnerable and true, you can always feel the raw emotion on Yoongi’s music) J-HOPE - raps from his body (his flows are so versatile that he always takes it to the next level, he is very experimental on the way he raps and always gives a new flavor on everything he does. his flows are like his body when he dances, powerful and graceful at the same time) Their songs even the more upbeat ones mostly are full of deep meanings. All 3 write about their journey, themselves and their point of views in every song. j-hope released a solo mixed tape before, Hope World, which is very different when it comes to the music but the message he portrays are always his stories. Jack in the Box is his 1st official album. if you’ll be able to watch Lollapalooza (or as we say Hobipalooza) you’ll see the duality of our sunshine Hobi. he is a total performer. loving your reaction, additional input and insights on the songs that we are very familiar with. it adds another layer of appreciation to their artistry. excited of what will be next week’s choice for JK.💜
ARMY - thank you for holding our hand down the BTS rabbit hole! We admittedly dropped the ball on this one by not looking at the More lyrics, but we are going to continue coming back and exploring more and more (pun intended!) songs to get to know each of the 7 members. ESPECIALLY knowing that j-hope has a sunny side to check out! We can't wait to spend time with you all LIVE on October 16th at 8:00 AM (EST) with the lovely Taylor Mari!!
if you need good lyrics then check out doolset bangtan lyrics, they have a website where they’ve translated basically every bts song 🥰 they’re known to be very good translations and also have some context when needed!
I'll be at work at that time so as much as I would want to join you guys, it's sad that I won't be able to. I do hope you keep the recorded video though so we can watch the replay. Thank you.
It's okay, we understand sometimes it can be overwhelming and stuff like this happens. I'm glad it didn't take away from you guys liking the songs and I can't wait for the livestream
Jhope!! He is THE best performer in the whole kpop industry! He took a risk releasing such a non-gp friendly album "jack in the box" and i admire him for that!! He is my favourite artist in kpop. He is such a force to be Reckon be 🔥🔥🔥
Hi guys, I'm 52and my daughter is 12, she introduced me to BTS last December over Christmas break. I only knew of Butter and Dynamite at that time, and I was always changing the channel when they came on TV to perform because I assumed they were your usual boyband. But I was so very wrong. I Had my daughter play me a song, and I was like ,"I like that." Then she played me another, and another, and I was shocked that even though I didn't understand the lyrics I was loving the music. And it sounded to me so familiar but also new. For me they feel so 90's but also like the music evolved through them. If that makes any sense. That same week we watched their L.A.concert, that I believe was in 2022? It was aired on the Disney + Channel. There is a moment in the concert where they each take a turn talking to the fans and expressing how happy they are to finally be able to see their fans , because they had been performing for cameras for so long. And how much they appreciated all the love and support. And I was thinking How is it that they are all so kind and thoughtful? I was on my phone trying to find dirt on them. LOL! Because I was like come on, where are the groupies? Where are the party pictures ,etc. I found nothing. (So someone is doing a really good job keeping them protected) And wait till you find out how funny they all are! They seriously have the best sense of humor. The more I learn and the more I listen, I know they are immensely gifted humans, and the fact that they are all in the same band is astonishing to me. Totally enjoy watching your videos, because I'm glad I'm not the only one who is always surprised by this Band. ;-)
Jhope is a street dancer before he learned rap so he combines both and that makes him so unique Every rapper in bts has his own style and still very skilled and versatile Jhope completely shocked armys with this album because his other mixtapes were the brightest in colour out of the group but still deep
the darker side 😂 that's so ironic, he's our sunshine. he also the dance leader (tho, there's not much dancing on his album cause he wanted us to see another side of him) we just got an update from him earlier, he said that he's able to achieve the special *warrior. we're so proud of him 😊
Jin and Hobi are not in the Special Forces. They have been awarded the honor of "Special Warrior". This is an extremely difficult honor to achieve! However, the Black Berets, White Tigers, and other Special Forces brigades are different. Those soldiers serve for 4 years and 3 months and are considered the fiercest in all of Asia. I don't think they would want us to claim that they are part of those elite corps.
A month ago, you did a reaction to BTS Room Live. Johnny, you were referring to all the response from ARMY and said, "We opened Pandora's box!" (Good to see the good humor from both of you after being inundated with info! 😂) I came back here to tell you, Pandora's Box has special significance to j-hope because of the Hope remaining when all the evils flew out of the box. He says he wants to be a source of hope to people, to give them strength. In BTS songs, j-hope's rap lines (written by him) usually lend a sense of hope and positivity. At the beginning of his show at Lollapalooza, he started with a retelling of the Pandora story.
Hobi is multifaceted. Check out Just Dance if you want to see another side to him. Theres a live version. Or check out Chicken Noodle Soup with Becky G. That one combines Korean, English and Spanish lyrics. Another fun one to check out is when he sings Mamma with a choir in the background.
@@sarahndipity_7 oh yes, it would be a great video if they react to this 3 solo songs together ! J Hope Ego, Suga Shadow, RM Persona, 3 BTS rappers with 3 différents styles to express these 3 indivisible Jungian psychological deep concepts !
Yes, Hobi commands the stage, no matter how huge! 😎As ARMY says, once you see BTS live on stage, regardless of who your bias is, j-hope will be your new bias before the show is over. Concertgoers say film and video can't convey all his charisma and good looks you see in person.
Still remember that this is a saying or many would probably just say fact, that is very well known. And in deed this is something I learned/was told very early on as Army! I hope and pray with all of my heart that I will get to hundred percent confirm this all in person during a BTS concert myself!!! 🙏💜🙏💜🙏
The music videos for these 2 songs are really something and tell such a story to go along with the lyrics. I really hope you guys have a chance to watch them too as they are very much a part of J Hope launching Chapter 2. 😉💜
Thank you for reacting to both! As always JHope (Hobi) is the ultimate performer and did well on the MAMA stage. I think everyone must have suggested the Lollapolloza stage because the energy was insane but we are happy to get both songs! (MVs are great too but the you can feel their true talent thru their live performances)
That was kind of my comment. MVs with BTS are always part of the story. I love some live performances for sure, but I think you have to do the original song/MV. Then with that understanding you can fully enjoy a live version.
i’ve been an army for about 8 years now, and just last year i started as a music major in university, when i tell you it’s so hard to find (genuine) reactors who also comment on the actual music aspect of BTS’ music 😭 i love how johnny just turns around and plays the chords or even just mentions what genres/styles/artists their music reminds him of, or how richard talked about V’s singing in the last video and about J-hope’s stage presence here. i feel like i can get a lot of value besides just entertainment in your reactions which is really nice! i do watch a lot of reactions because i’m a fan and i like seeing people discovering BTS (their talent, their music, and even their personalities), so i do watch reactions mostly for fun, but it’s so nice to see the technical aspects of their work being discussed and appreciated because i can’t really talk about that stuff with my army friends since they have no knowledge of music/songwriting whatsoever 😆 that being said, i can’t wait to watch your reaction to the Taylor guide!! (and all BTS reactions you might do after that). i really hope i can catch the live on the 16th, cause i think it’ll be really fun! 💜
Hobi started out as a street dancer and he is BTS’ dance leader. He is RM’s second in command. Please check out more of Hobi’s work. He is so multifaceted it is no joke. All of the members are freaking amazing too 100%. They are even more amazing live than their studio performances. They are untouchable 🎉💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
Yes arson is about his ambition. The fire that keeps him going and burns the world to ashes. More is about music being his passion and he wants more and more of it. That’s just a short explanation. BTS’s music is up to your interpretation . Jk’s new album is dropping in Nov. Each of the rap line members have 2 solo mixtapes under their belts before they released their official solo albums. The vocal lines only have a few solo singles before the official albums came out. The rap line is very active in writing music which is why they wrote their mixtapes and the vocal line only had singles. RM is now the youngest idol with the most song credits in the Korean music association with 209 (I believe that’s the number. But over 200 for sure) song credits. I am really enjoying their solo work. Not being a teenager, I do like their more mature work and am very excited to see how all these new flavours will fit together when they reunite. It’s also very heartwarming to see that even tho they are doing their solo projects and promotions they always introduce themselves as so and so of BTS, and in their interviews they all say that their solo work is so that will have something brilliant to contribute back to BTS when they reunite. You never hear something like that from other groups, neither from the east or west. They truly love each other and their fans
JHope definitely when darker on he's Jack In The Box album, but if you look at the lyrics for the upbeat sounding song DayDream(Off his first Mixtape) you'll see a sad message of him just wanting to be able to do what he likes without being watched or criticised.
”There's such a sense of trust with your body and your image and your presentation to any kinds of dance move, just like throwing yourself into something dramatically. and he's got such confidence in what he's doing. comes across in the whole last song and just leading into this one." "There's a sense of artistic awareness/swag. but there's also you could just tell like he's doing exactly what he wants to do." YES🥺🥺🥺🥺HE IS OUR DANCE CAPTAIN AND PERFORMANCE KING💜💜💜💜
I'm already giggling because based on this particular performance and you calling it the darker side, you won't recognize our dear sunshine in the Taylor guide. 😂 But part of why we love them is their range and duality! Now I really can't wait for you guys watch the guide. Will definitely try to catch it live if I can!
To answer the question about how many solo albums do they have : RM - 3 albums (Wildflower was from the last one) Jin has singles but no solo album so far Suga/Agust D - 3 albums (Daechwita from the 2nd one, Haegum and Amygdala from the 3rd) J-hope - 2 albums (More and Arson from the 2nd one) Jimin - 1 EP V - 1 EP Jungkook - coming out soon :)
If you ever have a chance to watch Jhope's Lolla performance it was really incredible...the MAMA show was good but Lolla was incredible...highly recommend.
Your guys's reactions have all been very informative and entertaining. For someone who barely knows anything about music theory, specific vocal techniques, etc., I can still understand and follow along with what you guys are saying and makes me appreciate the artists and music more. Keep up the great work! ❤💜💚💙
J-Hope in his emo era is a blast !! It’s good to know that he is a self-produced artist, everything including the concept are his creations! My man is a total ace and a genius ! Thank you guys for your reaction ❤
Hobipalooza I was there In Chicago! Any amazing performer! Jhope is the performance/dance leader so he shines when performing on stage. MAMA was a 3 song set; the last song is ‘future’ and wraps of the “story line”. So kind of stopped mid story. But Arson~ he is burning in passion for music/ dance etc. so definitely not dark but similar to a Phoenix, burning so much you resurface into something beautiful. He is Hope.
I loooove how you guys were able to notice that Hobi’s rap delivery (esp for these 2 songs) are more reminiscent of old school hip hop. I don’t even think some ARMYs realize just how much Hobi leans into old school hip hop (esp boombap). It’s definitely tied to how and when he got introduced to hip hop (which was through street dancing) and since he did a lot of popping back then he would’ve been listening to a lot of 90s hip hop and boombap
8:15 he was originally signed because hes an amazing dancer, he learned how to rap as a trainee, learning and practicing rap in the dorms with RM & suga. He uses elements he learned from both of them and developed his own style. 💜
J-Hope is one of my favorite performers EVER! The amount of emotion he can put into his own songs, and BTS's song too, just seems incredible to me 💫 Everytime I see one of his performances, I get the chills... I hope I can see him live some day 🙏
Jhope’s music is a sonic treat!!!! He’s got the most texture and it’s something you need to pay attention to. I love the rap line but JHope is my favorite because of the complexity of his music- lyrically and rhythmically.
As you said the song “ Arson” has a destructive background although Hobi is talking about the inner fire of success whether he will put it off or continue to shine brighter. The destructive background is sign for Arson, however, if you continue MAMA performance, the Hobi’s third song is future. There is foreshadowing that in spite of the darkness or problems or challenges, there is still light in the tunnel , the background changes into beautiful shades of purple and pink as a sense of hope and faith in the future.
This was a really great reaction video!! Thank you for reacting to our Hobi. He's such a talented performer...all of them are but since he was the first to put out his solo album I give him props. He did everything he wanted to do for this album. I hope you are able to listen to the whole thing from start to finish because it really does tell a story! Love this MAMA performance and I can't wait until you start watching the MMA and MAMA performances from them as a group. I think they'll blow your mind especially if you're used to just watching the Western award show performances. Can't wait for your live with Taylor. You guys are great and I'm happy to watch you fall down into the wonderful rabbit hole that is BTS content!!! 💜💜💜
JHope is such a positive guy that really match his name. Almost none of his songs gives negative message. Darker style for this album which just reflects a different self other than a "sunny boy" BTS member. Before this album, he had released 2 solo mixtapes which are produced by himself. He earned a swag king position among RM's Lyrics King and SUGA's flow king. So you have 3 totally different RAP styles and all over the world were amazed by their chemistry. Plus 4 different voices vocals, basically they have unlimited songs they can try to challenge their own creativities. Once SUGA said, if one takes out bias and opens to music, one will find BTS's music is quite good to listen to, which is absolutely true to me.
You found our 👑"King of Peformace"👑 our🕺 "Dance/Performance Leader"🕺 our Ace of ♠Aces♠ our 🌞Sunshine🌞 but most of all that's Our "Hope" !!!💜💜💜 I have so much respect for Jhope not only as just an artist, but also, for the person he is. And as for his artistry, as is with all of the other members of BTS as well, jhope is a master at his craft in many ways. Jhope is a very unique arstist. He is so incredibly talented and hardworking. Honestly, I feel, even though we have already seen quite a variety of music from him, I feel like he might just keep surprising us, in the very best ways! Thank you for the reaction, and thank you for the respectful way in which you both are approaching BTS and their artistry, it is greatfully appreciated. 💜😊💜
These two songs are very much what we call "Boom Bap" rap. The heavy drums give it that name. What JHope was talking about in Arson is in the first part how he started the fire. How that fire was his passion and determination to make his group succeed. It's how he lived, body and soul, on fire blazing a path in an industry that tried to stomp their flames out. In the second part he is talking about okay we are farther than we ever dreamed, what do I do now? He burned so hot to get where BTS is now but is this the end? His chorus is asking himself the question do I let the fire die or do I burn even hotter into a new chapter of his career. Jack In The Box is JHope's official first album but he has a mixtape named Hope World (named after his love and admiration of the rapper JCole and his Cole World). JHope is usually our melodic rapper because he sings as well. You'll find more of that in Hope World and the title track Daydream.
J-Hope's stage presence is insane so focusing on the performance for More was great. So did I the first time! Both songs have great lyrics but no matter the song type, the music or the lyrics, Jung Ho-seok (his real name) has total command of his body and the stage. 🔥
"Jack in the box" is jhope's second solo project. The first one was "Hope world" a wordplay on both his name but also one of his greatest inspiration - "Cole world" by rapper J.Cole. "Hope world" is an explosion of color and 90's beats and a reflection of who J-Hope was as an artist at the time. Jack in the box Just like the album's name suggests (and the intro solidifies that by referencing Pandora's box), this came as a big surprise to fans because Hobi was known for his positive, happy going, always smiling personality. The album was a very personal work since it showed a different side of him, one that has worries, questions and doubts. "More" and "Arson" are both in relation to his artistry, what he feels he achieved as J-Hope of BTS and his doubts and resolution on the path to go forward (is it enough or is he gready to want more? will he put off the passion- fire - for music or will he burn everything to the ground in order to resurect -evolved-?) I suggest you give Jack in the box a listen since there are really hidden gems (Equal sign, Safety zone) in there! As always, it was a pleasure watching your reaction and your genuine interest in BTS 💜
J-Hope is given a nickname “sunshine” by ARMYs. So it’s funny to see him being “the darker side” 😅 His last album (Jack in the box) is so different from previous songs/mixtapes he released. I was a bit shocked to hear it for the first time because of that contrast. But I LOVE it 😍 Hope you like it too!
Jack In The Box is merely an eclipse. The attention-grabbing shadow may seem very dark but it’s temporary & the Sun is right there shining behind it :)
so excited for your reaction to Jhope 💜 I was hoping for Lollapalooza because it was super lit, but the Mama performance is definitely not far behind 😀 Maybe Lollapalooza/Hobipalooza next time ?😜 Hope you can also watch his Hopeworld mixtape just to have some comparison and appreciation on Hobi's works , fun fact : Army were shocked when we first heard More and Arson so I guess that tells you something 😂
The irony of these songs with no real choreo (except JHope being cool) is that JHope is the dance leader and his background is dance, he learned to rap second. Each rapper has a distinct style and JHope has honed his own flavor. He can also sing when called upon. Would love to see you react to his whole Lollapalooza concert from summer of 2022.
I love that you love J-Hope's voice. In the first group video, Richard kept smiling when J-hope had lead. I love his voice too. There's a buzz to it that makes me think of other amazing singers. I hope you get to hear him sing as you go down the rabbit hole. I also hope you get to Jin rapping. And Super Tuna. Oh there's so much and so much fun!!! On to the Intro video, I'm binging today. Edit: Also watch Otsukare with J-hope and Suga, and then the one with all the members in the sparkly jackets. Those two are lots of fun!
According to their book, in their trainee days RM & Suga held a School of Rap and J-Hope held a School of Dance in their dorm. They have helped each other grow since the start.
That is NOT CORRECT, the book never mentioned School of Rap. The book said “ Right until their debut, RM, SUGA and j-hope’s School of Hip-Hop was holding non-stop classes.” - Beyond the Story page 26 . j-Hope is PART AND PARCEL of School of Hip-Hop and j-hope leads the School of Dance Let us not spread misinformation
Thanks for the great reacting. Not only is J-Hope one of the best dancers in k-pop, he is also recognized as an artist with arguably the best stage. I mean, J-Hope doesn't need rehearsed choreography, tons of dancers, and extravagant hair color to shine on a live stage. He just has it in him. His concert at Lollapalooza in Chicago was amazing. The entire rap line of BTS is amazing and very inspiring. J-Hope also has a 2018 mixtape called Hope world which was also a big success at the time of its release.
His jack in the box album is a story, very reflective. Arson is right along with what you were thinking. His Lollapalooza performance was a perfect balance of demonstrating that hard hitting rap, coupled with his more lyrical rap and dance as he is a main dancer with BTS. He is known for his flow, the boy can sing (Equal sign, Piece of Piece etc), and you do need a good set of translated lyrics.
I don't WHY mama likes to separate the performances, but there's still one more somg he performed for this set. Would be glad if u guys reacted to it. The name of the song is Future
You might already know this from other comments in previous videos, but since you asked about J-hope's previous solo work... In June 2022 BTS announced their break from group music, partly because of burnout and partly because they planned to do their mandatory military service, one by one. While they can't perform together as a group, they would officially debut as solo artists. However, prior to these official solo debuts in 2022-3, they have all released solo music, but as personal projects with little to no promotion. All the rappers have released mixtapes and all the vocalists have released singles. * RM - "RM" (2015), "mono" (2018), Bicycle, and a ton of collabs * Suga - "Agust D" (2016), "D-2" (2020), and several collabs where he's often the producer * J-hope - "Hope World" (2018), Chicken Noodle Soup, 1Verse * Jin - Tonight, Abyss, Super Tuna, Yours * Jimin - Promise, Christmas Love, With You * V - Scenery, Winter Bear, Snow Flower, Christmas Tree * Jungkook - Still with You, Stay Alive, My You
Me hubiera gustado más Lollapalooza, ya que tocó con banda en vivo, mientras que en los MAMA los grupos salen con pista de apoyo. Ojalá después puedan ver los videos y Lolla. Borahae 💜
I just wanna say, this style of music was not only shocking to everyone else, but also us fans. Jhope had never done this style solo before it was not what we expected and i absolutely love it
i love that you heared 90s hip hop. j-hope is a dancer and when he was younger he listened to a lot of hip hop from the 90s so there's definitely influence
It's so strange to see you two circling around the heart of what makes BTS, well, BTS! When you finally get a chance to watch the seven of them dance, performing something like DNA, ON, Dynamite, or Fake Love, it's gonna blow your minds.
J HOPE es increíble cuando está en el escenario se transforma su control en su cuerpo, su poderosa mirada, el es un show man realmente lo amo el es perfecto
Hoseok has an album "Jack in The Box" and a mixtape "hope world". He performed at Lollapalooza 2022 and was highly praised. I suggest taking a look.Jhope is very cheerful and considered the hope of the group and ARMY, but in "Jack in the Box ", he wanted to show us another side of him, where he has weaknesses and sometimes even hopelessness. "Blue Side" Is an example that
It has been a long journey before I became an ARMY & Jhope was the reason i entered the fandom. His personality is such uplifting then i learned about his talents. He is the best dancer in kpop i can say. And as a musician myself, he pours his heart to his work. Knowing that he only studied music in his younger days. He can rap, sing, compose and produce. His lyrics are so deep and talks about important issues in life. His rapping style is unique. His singing voice is soothing. He is the most versatile artist I have ever known. His stage presence is insane by the way! Please react to his jack in the box album and hope world mixtape. And on the street with j.cole. and Mama with the live choir so you can gauge his vocal range. thank you guys! Respect to you both! ❤
You guys’ first impressions on him is actually really accurate! His style is so 90s based and very American in comparison to other two rappers, and even other Korean rappers (and he is way more edgy than before)! His confidence and presence is as well incredible since he is arguably one of the best dancer and performer of music industry as whole !! He used to be a street dancer championship for a long time before debuting btw. J-Hope is indeed a whole package and is just polishing his craft even more! Every time you see him, he shows improvements! I indeed like his music style alot, esp as a hiphop stan I am ! Waiting for his future and post-military works 🔥
Arson is positive and negative. There's an inner fire that he can't put out so he can either let it fuel him or burn him out, but either way ash is left behind. It's about the heat and passion that comes with fire in his work and art but also recognizing the cost that brings. At least, that's mostly how he explained it when talking about how he wrote the album.
As someone who spent my college years in the late 90's/early 2k's, my first thought when I heard "More" was Korn--definitely nu-metal vibes going on here. I get the Beastie Boys feel that you mentioned, too. Hobi definitely loves the 90's. When you listen to his earlier solo pieces, whether BTS or from his earlier mixtape, you'll get an earful of 90's dance, which makes my 43 year old heart so happy. "Just Dance" is one of my favorites, along with "Daydream" and "Ego". Those will show you the Sunshine Hope that everyone is talking about!
EVERYTHING (sound, lyrics, production) they do is thoughtful, intentional, meaningful to their own development as musicians, artists, performers, individuals, a group, and as human beings. Understanding this will make your BTS journey all the more rich, deep, and exhilarating. And will illuminate the multi-faceted relational connection between BTSXARMY.
I'm so happy that you were able to see both More and Arson. As always, it's hard to pick only 1 song to recommend for a BTS member or for all of BTS but it helps to know your taste so we know how to guide your first foray down the rabbit hole. These two were great picks for people who enjoy some rock elements in a song but I'm sure you'll also enjoy some of J-Hope's other styles as well. People call him "sunshine", "vitamin" and "our happy pill" for a reason. No matter how many dark aesthetics or production choices he makes, his core essence of hope and positivity manages to shine through. Even when he discusses darker topics, he'll have a bubbly production or rap flow on top. There's often a sense of balance in his music. Not all dark, not all light, a nice in between. Can't wait for you to get to the BTS Guide to hear your comments and thoughts. Also I'm looking forward to your Snooze reaction. I'm glad you plan to check out more stuff after the first go around. There's so much to check out from all 7 members and the group.
7:50 j-hope came to the label as a dancer, he had no previous knowledge of how to sing or rap, so before debut he made sure to train hard with RM and SUGA to learn how to rap.. although he developed his own style with time, you can still from time to time hear the influence that them both had on him.. Sometimes, when they use a certain type of rap, I still find it hard to distinguish if SUGA or j-hope is rapping.. I find it cool that you noticed that.. 😊💜

Hobi's music is gritty, but not dark. Even when he's intense, he's hopeful. Never dismal.
💯💯
True Dat!!!!
This actually
Yessss confirmed truth
Perfectly said 👌
Seeing jhope being named the dark side is soooo funny, because actually he is our sunshine!! hahahaha 💜
Right?! And they did talk about that in 8:38 , I love when reactors have kinda of a curator, an ARMY curator, for their content 😂
yeah that’s sooo funny him being my bias im like oh right that can happen
Equal Sign balances this album out and shows his range, imo. He brought that thread with him from Hope World, and it is like the piece of his soul that holds all the others together. 💜

I love JHope! I love his duality! He did Lollapalooza in Chicago last summer. First of the guys to do a solo project. He pulled off an hour long concert on his own. It was the most amazing concert of a solo artist in my life time. I am 62. Broke records with that! A lot of BTS songs have the 90's vibe. Which I love!
Hi Carol ! Hope this finds you well - always in my thoughts and always happy to see you around the comment sections 💜Borahae💜

Excellent analysis! Thank you!
Fun fact : arson performance was ranked by MAMA as the #3 most iconic performance of all time ..no dancers not even choreography just this man and his genius music and incredible stage presence!
HE WENT FROM SUNSHINE TO SUNBURN 🔥💜 I MISS HIM
Ok that's jinius.
Haha hilarious 😂 I miss our sunshine.
I miss him so bad
Nice!
Perfect!
That's what came to my mind😭 his personality is so bright like sun but his latest songs are hot like sun
❤
What’s funny is that despite the SOUND of Hobi’s old music being much brighter the LYRICS were actually much more…depressing(?)- can’t think of a better word for it rn.
I think “Daydream” is a perfect example of that bc visually and sonically it’s so bright and upbeat but lyrically he’s basically listing all the normal things he’ll never be able to do (saying that he came only daydream abt those things)
Despite not originally being a rapper, Hobi truly is a very fascinating artist that requires just as much analysis and lyrical dissection as Joon + Yoongi
Jhope is just crazy on stage. He is awesome
I love how you guys mentioned that J-hope has a crossover between Rm and Suga since he wasn't originally a rapper and practiced with the other two before discovering his own style. Some will say Rm an Suga actually taught him in their trainee days.
Yeesssss 💜👍
He himself said that he practiced with RM + Yoongi a lot during their trainee days to develop his own style (he says it in numerous BTS documentaries/docuseries starting with “Burn the Stage”)
He's also mentioned that he was inspired by 90's style hip hop. Not only in his rap style, but also in his dance style, and how he practices.
They really hit the nail on the head with that observation! I was so impressed. 😅
I was checking comments to see if someone mentioned this! 💜
This guy J Hope... had a whole solo concert on Lollapalooza in Chicago last year. He owned the stage! He was born to perform!
j-hope is the best performer in the industry and I'd put him up against anyone globally any day.
You go and keep on spitting facts on my artist J Hope.
Hermoso como describes a JHope admiro a personas que saben escoger las palabras correctas para hablar de un artista por qué eso es BTS y todos ellos ARTE
Extremely well said.
Even every other BTS members look up to J Hope for perfecting their performances.
ARMYs always say that BTS rapline is really the top of the top, in terms of delivery and lyrics. And we describe each of them like:
RM - raps from his mind (he’s very intellectual and philosophical, his wordplays are topnotch and his references are chef’s kiss. you really need to study to decipher Namjoon’s songs most of the time)
SUGA - raps from his soul (his raps contains the story of himself, very vulnerable and true, you can always feel the raw emotion on Yoongi’s music)
J-HOPE - raps from his body (his flows are so versatile that he always takes it to the next level, he is very experimental on the way he raps and always gives a new flavor on everything he does. his flows are like his body when he dances, powerful and graceful at the same time)
Their songs even the more upbeat ones mostly are full of deep meanings.

Totally enjoy watching your videos, because I'm glad I'm not the only one who is always surprised by this Band. ;-)
Jhope is a street dancer before he learned rap so he combines both and that makes him so unique
Every rapper in bts has his own style and still very skilled and versatile
Jhope completely shocked armys with this album because his other mixtapes were the brightest in colour out of the group but still deep
J--hooooop!!! I was there in MAMA 2022 in Osaka Kyocera for two days, I am telling you he stole the show😎
the darker side 😂 that's so ironic, he's our sunshine. he also the dance leader (tho, there's not much dancing on his album cause he wanted us to see another side of him)
we just got an update from him earlier, he said that he's able to achieve the special *warrior. we're so proud of him 😊
Jin and Hobi are not in the Special Forces.
@@JoobieLoobieSoobie ok I'm sorry for my mistake
A month ago, you did a reaction to BTS Room Live. Johnny, you were referring to all the response from ARMY and said, "We opened Pandora's box!" (Good to see the good humor from both of you after being inundated with info! 😂)
I came back here to tell you, Pandora's Box has special significance to j-hope because of the Hope remaining when all the evils flew out of the box. He says he wants to be a source of hope to people, to give them strength. In BTS songs, j-hope's rap lines (written by him) usually lend a sense of hope and positivity. At the beginning of his show at Lollapalooza, he started with a retelling of the Pandora story.
Hahaha well we will have to watch the Lollapalooza concert at some point!! Many others have suggested it as well :)
This performance was, in a sense, groundbreaking. That kind of hard-hitting production goes against the tried and true KPop genre. He killed it!
We keep seeing Chicken Noodle Soup requests... we're going to have to check that out!

J-HOOOOOOOPE!!! He is a natural born performer and artist. A total charismatic beast on stage!🔥💜
💯% correct
Thank you for the suggestion - this reaction doesn't include the MV's but we have a LOT to go back to and learn!
@@throga looking forward to this reaction and particularly your comparisons of the 3 rappers 😁
Then with that understanding you can fully enjoy a live version.

i’ve been an army for about 8 years now, and just last year i started as a music major in university, when i tell you it’s so hard to find (genuine) reactors who also comment on the actual music aspect of BTS’ music 😭 i love how johnny just turns around and plays the chords or even just mentions what genres/styles/artists their music reminds him of, or how richard talked about V’s singing in the last video and about J-hope’s stage presence here. i feel like i can get a lot of value besides just entertainment in your reactions which is really nice! i do watch a lot of reactions because i’m a fan and i like seeing people discovering BTS (their talent, their music, and even their personalities), so i do watch reactions mostly for fun, but it’s so nice to see the technical aspects of their work being discussed and appreciated because i can’t really talk about that stuff with my army friends since they have no knowledge of music/songwriting whatsoever 😆
that being said, i can’t wait to watch your reaction to the Taylor guide!!

Great info - thank you!
JHope definitely when darker on he's Jack In The Box album, but if you look at the lyrics for the upbeat sounding song DayDream(Off his first Mixtape) you'll see a sad message of him just wanting to be able to do what he likes without being watched or criticised.
”There's such a sense of trust with your body and your image and your presentation to any kinds of dance move, just like throwing yourself into something dramatically. and he's got such confidence in what he's doing. comes across in the whole last song and just leading into this one."
"There's a sense of artistic awareness/swag. but there's also you could just tell like he's doing exactly what he wants to do."
YES🥺🥺🥺🥺HE IS OUR DANCE CAPTAIN AND PERFORMANCE KING💜💜💜💜
I'm already giggling because based on this particular performance and you calling it the darker side, you won't recognize our dear sunshine in the Taylor guide. 😂 But part of why we love them is their range and duality! Now I really can't wait for you guys watch the guide. Will definitely try to catch it live if I can!
that would be fun... if they both remember their reaction video from Festa 2021, guess what this darker dude looks cute, wearing shorts and a hat
To answer the question about how many solo albums do they have :
RM - 3 albums (Wildflower was from the last one)
Jin has singles but no solo album so far
Suga/Agust D - 3 albums (Daechwita from the 2nd one, Haegum and Amygdala from the 3rd)
J-hope - 2 albums (More and Arson from the 2nd one)
Jimin - 1 EP
V - 1 EP
Jungkook - coming out soon :)

I hope I can see him live some day 🙏
Jack in The Box is such a fantastic album. I am looking forward to you checking out these two tracks.
You should listen to lollapalooza’s “stop” and “what if”. Uh just watch the whole damn concert. It’s phenomenal.
Jhope’s music is a sonic treat!!!! He’s got the most texture and it’s something you need to pay attention to. I love the rap line but JHope is my favorite because of the complexity of his music- lyrically and rhythmically.
I agree!
These are my favorite j-hope songs and both are quite different from his other work
I can't wait for the guide and for you to check out more award performances like the 2018 and 2019 MMA performances. Jaw dropping. ❤

I have so much respect for Jhope not only as just an artist, but also, for the person he is.

JHoooope!!! He’s so amazingly versatile and so talented!!!!! Love his songs his vibe his voice and love everything about this MV!! 💜🇧🇷💜thanks
Lollapalooza was totally live, maybe next time😊. Waiting patiently at work for your video to drop
Hobi is such an amazing performer!! I miss him so much!!
Jack in the box
Just like the album's name suggests (and the intro solidifies that by referencing Pandora's box), this came as a big surprise to fans because Hobi was known for his positive, happy going, always smiling personality. The album was a very personal work since it showed a different side of him, one that has worries, questions and doubts.
"More" and "Arson" are both in relation to his artistry, what he feels he achieved as J-Hope of BTS and his doubts and resolution on the path to go forward (is it enough or is he gready to want more? will he put off the passion- fire - for music or will he burn everything to the ground in order to resurect -evolved-?)
I suggest you give Jack in the box a listen since there are really hidden gems (Equal sign, Safety zone) in there!
As always, it was a pleasure watching your reaction and your genuine interest in BTS 💜
J-Hope is given a nickname “sunshine” by ARMYs. So it’s funny to see him being “the darker side” 😅
His last album (Jack in the box) is so different from previous songs/mixtapes he released. I was a bit shocked to hear it for the first time because of that contrast. But I LOVE it 😍
Hope you like it too!
He is really the sweetest 😂
Jack In The Box is merely an eclipse. The attention-grabbing shadow may seem very dark but it’s temporary & the Sun is right there shining behind it :)
J-hope is multi-talented. Dancer, rapper, singer, song-writer, producer, dance leader… he was born for the stage.
💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜 j-hope He is the most special and talented person in the world ❤
JH is born for stage✨️💜
J-hope's gritty husky voice is my favourite
so excited for your reaction to Jhope 💜 I was hoping for Lollapalooza because it was super lit, but the Mama performance is definitely not far behind 😀 Maybe Lollapalooza/Hobipalooza next time ?😜 Hope you can also watch his Hopeworld mixtape just to have some comparison and appreciation on Hobi's works , fun fact : Army were shocked when we first heard More and Arson so I guess that tells you something 😂
PLEAAE AT SOMEPOINT DO THE LOLLAPOLLA performance! he does all his songs from the Jack in the box album and serval others! 💜💜
So excited 🫨🫨❤️🔥❤️🔥 thank you for giving your love to them. 💜💜💜 I hope you enjoyed watching this. 🤗🤗 (sorry, english isn't my first language😅)
@oneda2day Your English is so good, please don’t say sorry when you have more than one language!
@@leighparker233 thank you 🥺 you are so kind💜💜💜
@@leighparker233 Totally agree Leigh... 💜
Your English is great ❤
Same here 😊, English is not my first language, but reading is much easier than writing 😐💜💜💜.
J-Hope is the Dance Leader of BTS and is an incredible dancer.
According to their book, in their trainee days RM & Suga held a School of Rap and J-Hope held a School of Dance in their dorm. They have helped each other grow since the start.
That is NOT CORRECT, the book never mentioned School of Rap.
The book said “ Right until their debut, RM, SUGA and j-hope’s School of Hip-Hop was holding non-stop classes.” - Beyond the Story page 26 .
j-Hope is PART AND PARCEL of School of Hip-Hop and j-hope leads the School of Dance
Let us not spread misinformation
Thanks for the great reacting. Not only is J-Hope one of the best dancers in k-pop, he is also recognized as an artist with arguably the best stage. I mean, J-Hope doesn't need rehearsed choreography, tons of dancers, and extravagant hair color to shine on a live stage. He just has it in him. His concert at Lollapalooza in Chicago was amazing. The entire rap line of BTS is amazing and very inspiring. J-Hope also has a 2018 mixtape called Hope world which was also a big success at the time of its release.
Even him alone(arson part), won’t let you feel stage is empty!! 💜
It's funny the difference between Arson and Outro: Ego, I love J-Hope's duality
What I like about each BTS member... all their voices are so unique.
Did you like Future at Mama or Hobipalooza better?
You might already know this from other comments in previous videos, but since you asked about J-hope's previous solo work...
In June 2022 BTS announced their break from group music, partly because of burnout and partly because they planned to do their mandatory military service, one by one. While they can't perform together as a group, they would officially debut as solo artists.
However, prior to these official solo debuts in 2022-3, they have all released solo music, but as personal projects with little to no promotion. All the rappers have released mixtapes and all the vocalists have released singles.
* RM - "RM" (2015), "mono" (2018), Bicycle, and a ton of collabs
* Suga - "Agust D" (2016), "D-2" (2020), and several collabs where he's often the producer
* J-hope - "Hope World" (2018), Chicken Noodle Soup, 1Verse
* Jin - Tonight, Abyss, Super Tuna, Yours
* Jimin - Promise, Christmas Love, With You
* V - Scenery, Winter Bear, Snow Flower, Christmas Tree
* Jungkook - Still with You, Stay Alive, My You
I just wanna say, this style of music was not only shocking to everyone else, but also us fans.
JHooooooooooope! ❤ I just love the way he does everything he does, he’s a mesmerizing performer!
Jhope did have a Mixtape called "Hope world". But this album "Jack in the box" is his first solo debut album.
Thanks for the reaction.7 members had different personality ,style in music and with different voice equal to perfect combination
Hobi’s voice is extremely textured. I’m glad you guys noticed
J-hoooooooooooope é um dos melhores artistas coreano 🔥
SO FALOU VERDADES , JHOPE É MUITO TALENTOSO ELE SABE FAZER TUDOO ❤❤❤
Só uma correcção ao seu comentário. Ele é um dos melhores artistas do mundo, não apenas coreano. Amo o artista e o homem, que ele é. 😊
I really like your honest reactions. All others are just either, boring, over the top or just for clicks.
Thank you!
I recommend watching another reactor! This is Gameboyy 310!
@@ВалентинаЗахаркина-у2щyess...he's one of my favorite, too. Along with Anthony Ray, DT Parker, and Watchagot2say.
@@ВалентинаЗахаркина-у2щbut they post very rarely
I always feel some 90s vibe in his music, I don't know why 😅 his DNA Demo version is one of my favorite
Funfact: it was an award show where he was performing like it’s a concert 🔥🔥🔥
EVERYTHING (sound, lyrics, production) they do is thoughtful, intentional, meaningful to their own development as musicians, artists, performers, individuals, a group, and as human beings. Understanding this will make your BTS journey all the more rich, deep, and exhilarating. And will illuminate the multi-faceted relational connection between BTSXARMY.
I’m glad you’re enjoying BTS members hihi 💜 thank you soo much for your reaction and can’t wait for the 16th. I’ll be sure to join
Thank you guys, J-Hope is sunshine, check out the whole album it is sooo good! 💜
DUALITY - this is something you need to get used to getting to know bts. Jhope really is our sunshine!
jhope,ты великолепен.Умничка,так держать.Хорошей службы,возвращайся скорее.Удачи
