I’m a trainee pro wrestler. Just to clear up some confusion. Yes wrestling is scripted, the outcome is predetermined, we know who will win or go over in wrestling terms. In very rare instances the winner may not be predetermined and the match is called on the fly. There’s a reason of why I hate the “fake” word so much. What we do isn’t fake, you can’t fake gravity, the moves aren’t fake and the take a toll on your body and knock the wind out of you. In terms of punches and kicks, we do a “working” punch or kick, contact is still made but we aren’t tryna knock each other out lol. In terms of real life beef. Some wrestlers actually hate each other or in wrestling terms got “heat” with each other. But you gotta be professional in the ring, and avoid going into business for yourself. Also regarding the weapons, chairs are real steel chairs. The same people use to sit, it’s not prop chairs. Hopefully this helps Simon and any of you interested!

@@ryanw217 it’s sports entertainment brother, it’s just like watching a movie, we all know the movie is scripted but we still wanna see it and be entertained. Wrestling is the same way. The high level athleticism and storylines is what fans love to see. The point I was making is, the outcome is predetermined but the physical nature of wrestling isn’t fake. Fake does a disservice to it.

With pro wrestling, the amount of injuries you’ll pick up in a match is outrageous. They’ll normally tell someone but they’ll try to work around it to still have the match go on. Even when it’s awful. Check out Cody Rhodes vs Seth Rollins at Hell in a Cell. Cody tore his pec really badly and went out with it. You could see the blood/bruising on his pec but him and Seth still knew they had to get that match done otherwise months’ worth of work would be destroyed. That match was ridiculously brutal, knowing Cody’s pec was so badly damaged. That’s the perfect example of WWE - Scripting is fake. But you can’t fake injuries and when you know someone’s injured, that match becomes almost entirely real.

Idk if your chat had it cleared up but I’ve seen them describe it in some of the documentaries that they swing chairs at like 30-50% and if you get really good at it, you swing 100% but slow tf down right before you hit, so their not getting destroyed, and kinda the same with direct punches, and what also helps is the people on the receiving end kinda move with the flow, so the punch isn’t as direct
When WWE superstars said it's not fake they are not talking about the script and those stuff they're talking about pain there are WWE physical moments when they actually get punched hard

Majority of WWE stars are actors it’s mostly a show but sometimes people do genuinely hate each other in and outside of WWE
A lot of wrestlers "keep it kayfabe" and stay in character, try to avoid people they're currently facing when outside the ring - but yeah, they're all usually mayws unless egos get in the way

Most wrestlers are chill because they coordinate the match together. Some are close some it’s just a work relationship. I’d say like 90-95% of the moves 100% hurt and make solid contact. Some of the kicks and punches aren’t like actual blows

It's not all fake. Just look at some of the worse injuries in WWE history. People get elbowed to the face. People get actually knocked out.
Rey Mysterio literally killed someone in the ring. Others have also died in the ring.
I'm not a fan of WWE at all but everyone who says it's all fake just because they hear others say it's fake are 10/10 winnets.

WWE is half scripted. In a sense that whole beef is fake, their punches are fake but when they actually "wrestle" and being thrown around or being hit by objects, it's real. They also will genuinely get hurt.

The best way to describe WWE to people is that these guys are basically stunt actors or stunt performers and they've made a telenovela about their “personalities” and their physical attributes. All the physical stuff is real.

You never go to a magician and tell them what you do is fake. You just sit and enjoy the show.
Now it’s the same thing with WWE. It’s a show where people go and get drunk and chant and see some shit mad stuff. But yes there also is a scenario for what the superstars do. It’s not like you just get out there and get a fight with someone and you actually win. Before the match starts you know if you going to win or loose. So yeah that’s it. It’s a show. Now if you confuse it with UFC or if you don’t get what a show means that’s also fine 😀

It´s hella annoying to still debate about wrestling. Do you go into an action movie and dislike the film because nobody got shot for real? NO, clearly no. Wrestling scripted in terms of finish, spots and sometimes promos. But their all risking their life. Just a few bumps have a massive impact on your body. And yeah, sometimes it´s unrealistic to wait till the opponent jumps from the ropes or after a jab or smth.
Just view it like a movie with a storyline. There is (most of the time) a story between the two competitors. Their match is like the climax of the movie!
So I just think everybody who´s disliking this kind of art, just frick off! Movies are scripted too and you like them, so just accept it.

So for example at 7:19 the jump was scripted but at the same time the stunt was still done which makes the stunt real.

The steel chairs are real hence no headshots anymore cause CTE, the ladders that break are wooden, the tables are like paper. The punches are pulled, but the chops to the chest are real. If you fight someone strong style, you'll probably get punched for real.

its cool seeings logan paul in the wwe even though i wasnt a huge fan of him at first, grown to like him. the moves/ entire match is staged, however that doesnt mean some moves dont hurt/ have to be trained for. landing on ur back will leave a sting, getting hit with a chair is real but the chairs are used from like aluminum metal so it doesnt fucking kill you, there is real risk being in there at all times. still, wwe is staged and fake as we all know. so no, it isnt considered real.
Certain spots like that table spot or Jake, Mike and George getting involved were definitely planned ahead of time. But the match itself is improvised
