I wish he was a local guy so I could have used his services. Thanks much for your help. I will try out the tips. Thanks for sharing your experience at not cost :) and thanks for your time and efforts.

Very good idea. That is similar to how water damage used to be done about 20 years ago. It does work. It has evolved over many generations of improvements since then. There are many different methods that you can use to remove water from a carpet. Some better than others, But the end goal is the same, get the water out of the wet carpet and pad, dry out and prevent mold damage.

Clay, thank you so much for speaking with me on a Sunday morning! I truly appreciated your advice, both on your video as well as with speaking with you by phone on how to deal with wet carpeting in our basement caused by an overflowing dehumidifier. We'll be pulling up the carpet and pad today in our Nashua home. You were very helpful--and thanks so much!!!

Hi there. So we had seepage in our basement. We still don't know where the water came from, but presumably it's from a window sill that clearly had cracked molding. It was concentrate in on particular spot. It took roughly 48 hours for me to find a shop vac and research what to do. We didn't hire anyone for moisture removal because we didn't know if the moisture was still coming in. The only sign is the carpet was wet. Not sopping wet where it made sound, but wet. We started sopping it up with towels the minute it happens, now we vac'd it, and it pulls up beads of moisture on the edge (with a standard attachment), we then cut an X in the carpet and stuck the hose of the 6.5 peak HP vac in there, and the ENTIRE room is levitating the carpet now, along with fans and a space heater running for about 3 days straight if possible (so far just 6 hours). After all this, I'm concerned we wasted time. It may be roughly 4-5 days after it was wet once it gets dry. I haven't seen visible mold yet, and the pad is damp but is supposed to resist mold. Is this going to be something safe, or are we going to have to gut that room? (Note: There is that mildew smell, but it's weakening as we suck up moisture and dry)
