I HAD 4 OLDSMOBILE 98'S. Had the 1981 through 83 models four door. Man I got to give me another one before I pass away. I love the way that car rides when it hits a dip in the road it just floats. The prima velor seats and the space in the interior of the car is absolutely fantastic. Classic American car.
I can still remember the distinct smell of that Prima Velour upholstery. It was the same whether it was in an Olds 98, a Chevy Monte Carlo, or a Buick Regal. Such comfortable seats. Man, I so miss these cars.

Amazing that 36 years later, this beauty still has her original OEM Anco short-frame wiper blades. GM also sourced the similar Trico short-frame tubular units on other models. These have long been out of production. They were ubiquitous on GMs throughout the '80s. Not sure where you would find refills for these that are not dry rotted.

I haven't been able to find any 98s anywhere In the 80s brougham edition with blue like mine so I think I got a keeper

I drove one exactly like this same exterior and interior. Drove it 1 hour away from Indiana to Chicago when I was only 14 years old

The Olds steering wheel was much better than the Buick. The Cadillac's was nice.
the olds 98 was a nice car, that was big and comfortable. diesel motor was a disaster

The diesel option was a big mistake!
By '84, it actually wasn't. Design changes had been made by that point to fix some of the problems. If you took care of it and gave it the proper maintenance, this car would be really unique in 2021. Regardless, if the engine was trashed but the car was in good shape otherwise, there are a lot of engine swap options available - Olds 307, 350 or 403 would all fit with minimal fuss.

@@silvernail6 And I'll bet that Olds rode a lot better than the Suby. I really miss piloting around the GM full-sizes cars and Ford Panthers from the '80s. They were so comfortable.
