smart choice by lufthansa , the 747-400 and -800 are proven work horses , GE has manufactured a more fuel efficient engine for the 747`s , fedex and ups are purchasing used 747`s to be put back into service as cargo haulers , even japan and singapore airlines have chosen to put their parked 747` s back into service , the problems with fly by wire jetliners have proven to be very worrisome , computers basically doing whatever they choose , and not letting the pilot`s to switch to manual control
What crap The reason Lufthansa is keeping the Jumbo's is not they own the maintenance company it is because and only because the 747-800 and the 747-400 is because Boeing keep messing about with delivery dates of the 777X because of the delays certifying it as Boeing are with other aircraft.

Luftansa is the worst airlines be it service, dependability or punctuality. A very ardent member of Lufthansa airlines, I have seen the systematic deterioration in their customer service. I would rate them as the worst airlines much worse than even most domestic airlines.

Your article is factually incorrect. Lufthansa announced only a week ago that they will be retiring the 747-400 in 2028.
