I'm a kiwi living in Sydney been here 5 years and own my own home. To be honest I think NZ is a better country. The people are generally nicer the weathers not extreme it's just an easier place to live. Australia is a richer country in monetary terms but that's where it ends. I don't think the standard of living is higher in Australia. I could do more in my day back in NZ and it was easier. I came here for a job but NZ will always be home. I'll eventually return for good.
Brendan Shields same here bro. Australians are stressful people the government here is hard to deal with and nothing is built to be efficient or reasonable. The word reasonable doesn't exist in the Australian English dictionary.
Im an expat too but I moved here when i was 14 years old with fam back in the late 90s. Australia was a great place to live up till the mid 2000s . Since then cities like Sydney has gone to shit from the peoples attitudes, too many asian migrants to the cost of living and poor road infrastructure for cars. Its can be a really stressful place to live. Money is good in Oz but it wont buy you happiness in the long term.
obviously, you have been away a long time, it is always a worry when you get New Zealanders calling themselves Kiwi, it's a very derogative term, for those who have a bush hen mentality and are blind to reality, New Zealand is a third world country but the small syndrome Kiwi will never want to know that unlikt the NewZealanders who are honest
Robert Stewart kiwi is not a derogative term it was developed after ww1 and ww2 because our soldiers had a kiwi logo on them to distinguish them from other British imperial forces. The only thing Australia has over nz, is that hard work and applying yourself could earn you a bit of money, nothing excessive but you can spend it on a new computer good clothes etc. But I would take happiness, good governance, less Americanisation, better health and education, over an extra $10,000 a year.

Just come back from 6 weeks in New Zealand,Auckland is nothing like the rest of the country more like Australia also found the rest of the population North & South dont like Auckland and the people.New Zealand is like going back to the UK 30 years ago rather dated and very isolated but a great country to visit.
At least we're not dying like they are in the UK,Auckland is not NewZealand, just a very tiny part, but I agree that it's a mess now with road works and general disruptive construction.I avoid this place as much as I can.
I'm from Auckland but I don't even know about most of these places. I am from South Auckland, however I do go to Auckland Uni and its crazy to think that these places are very new to me
why so much hate on this beautiful city? Auckland is a wonderful place with lots to do. Please do not diss this city. I bet half of you are from a different country and never have been here. You just want to get some likes and brag to your friends, dude that's lame! There are many beautiful Devine cultures in this city. It's honesty one of the most beautiful countries in the world
I live in New Zealand Auckland, it's beautiful btw. I've lived there for 9 years came when I was 2 years old. But hardly goes to the city because parents to busy.
I love downtown Auckland! Lots of knick knack stores. Only complaint is that walking past beggars can be awkward. Especially if there are like ten in one street. Other than that, love it. Just please do not go after 6 PM
New zealand is very beatiful..... And the people also so friendly, i ever meet tourist from new zealand 2018, he is a doctor he is so friendly but i forget the name, very nice man and friendly, did anyone here know to find.... I only remember his profesi as a doctor,......
lived there for my uni in 2011. Didn't spend much time in Aotea Square because I would usually be running to class that way or going back from uni. Seems nice though. Had the Occupy tents there at the time (October - December 2011). Went back and walked past that civic centre. Felt a bit of the pavement move and it was this square white tile that was loose. Seemed like over fifty years old at least. anyone could have grabbed it.
I studied English in Auckland.. I miss being there. I just think this video should show the Britomart Station area, the boats, Fort street and Provedor's Bar :v
The people in New Zealand are either really mean or really nice. Ive met Maori people that tried to knock me and my friend out and rob us and Ive met others that were chill and really helped us out.
The number of "homeless", and vagabonds on the street really worry me. I have been accosted on a number of occasions, they're not asking for a dollar or spare change, they are asking for $10, or $20, and they become quite aggressive or abusive even. Auckland CBD, is not attractive by international standards, but the waterfront is great, and there are lots of other attractions.
gsf67 I had a man ask for money for money a month ago. I went in and got him a pie.. I gave it to him. He turned around. "But can I have some money".. dude I'm kiwi born. So I'm as broke as the next person. . I went for my walk yesterday. Behold. He asked me the same thing without realising me.. it's sad because it pains the people who really need it.
You must be a pretty delicate flower if you find NZ homeless scary. In American cities they attack you. In Europe, they rob you. NZ is incredibly chill
@@dominicm255 Far from it, I have travelled throughout the world, the majority of homeless gathering in the city are now quite aggressive. NZ and Auckland in particular has developed a really hard edge, some if not many homeless have drug and alcohol problems, and assaults are common. I didn't say that I find them scary, but the nature of the way that they harass and harangue people for money is worrying. My wife has been a victim of it.
I agree Auckland or should l say New Zealand is such a boring country!! Nothing to shop here in New Zealand plus the Chinatown in Auckland really makes me laugh - Chinatown is in the red building seriously at Ti Rakau Drive!! Other country Chinatown is the shops on the street.

I've been here all my life. There are problems throughout all society no matter where you look or go to. NZ is a great place to bring up children as long as you put in effort to make use of whats out there. For example taking your kids to scouts program, rugby program, cricket program or netball program - after work. If you want it you can have it but you got to put in the effort. A great life isn't just going to come and sit in your lap - you have to earn it and I feel NZ gives back to you as long as you allow it to. If you are going to wallow in self-pity then do something about it. Be proactive not reactive. Here in NZ it is too small to have opportunities come to you - you've got to go get-it. That's why we have lean on our DIY culture, our go get-it culture and punching above our weight culture since we are small and isolated. The people that do well in NZ are the small business owners who work hard but also reap the rewards of their hard work. I find it motivating and invigorating seeing new kiwis with a nice bach or a nice ride. It can be done but just not so with a sad attitude. Kia kaha, stay strong, light, love and peace.
NZ is beautiful! Lived here all my life, has everything i need and more...just like any other country you have a mix of different personalities some people nice, some arrogant and of course theres crime...i mean name a country that doesnt have it
Sega Pogi As in? I’ve heard that there’s been a sharp increase in the number of crimes being committed in Auckland recently? Have you ever felt unsafe?
I've travelled all over the world, the cities in European settled countries all look so similar, it's a shame when a country has the chance to shine that it has the same multinational chains and the same grey architecture.
lived there for 3 yrs and its boring as fk(excuse my language) there is no where to go in this small city and its not modern compare to cities like NY, LA, Tokyo, Seoul, Paris, etc. But, it is certainly a good city to just relax, and chill. Im currentlt in seoul and i might go back when i get old and retire :)
I lived there for 11 years, did my secondary and uni there and then moved to Sydney 15 years ago and am about to move back to my home city, Kuala Lumpur. You don't live in NZ for its CBDs, they are small and generally boring. Auckland's main positives are that it's surrounded by natural beauty, the beaches are so accessible and it is a really safe place to live in. I have visited many cities in the world and you will struggle to find an area as nice as Tamaki Drive/Mission Bay. As I am getting older, I can now see myself returning there. I think after my stint in KL I may consider settling down in Auckland, unless KL totally blows my mind of course.
I think Auckland has changed to much to fast! Some things have just gone to the dogs..don't get me wrong, I love my city... but some things just haven't been that well thought through!.. Walk before you can run.
It's true , Auckland is pretty nice lifestyle wise, but anybody who is not wealthy will struggle hard. The wages are low and the price of living very high. Auckland has also lost it's kiwi culture mostly through waves of mass imigration. Employers are for this however, as they don't have to keep wages up to fair standards due to the massive supply of imported labour.
Was this a Saturday coz it looks so empty and uninhabited. Love NZ, but damn talk about no fashion sense, it seemed like a video taken back in the late 90s not 2018 at all.
@@jaredjones2848 To be fair you’d say the same about any place if you’ve lived there for a while. Like I’d say the same about England just because I’ve lived there for ages
New Zealand is not safety country. A thief appeared in the mountain area in Hasting. Yesterday my friend and I’s backpack disappeared in the car... Please see the same backpack in the picture, please help the police! Thank you 🙏We drove the red car. Please pay attention to your health and property safety! Yesterday they fly to Christchurch airport 4pm from Napier
I am living in nz from last 3years kiwi people are really calm and friendly so if you love piece then nz is best country for living but its CBD areas are expensive and countryside is cheap, choice is yours. Harjas Singh from Hamilton NZ
It's funny as a kiwi who lived in Toronto years ago, yes Auckland has a strangely similar layout...Queens Street is exactly like Bloor, where the road symmetrically divides the city in half and gently slopes down to end at the water. Also share a needle tower that looks the same
Henry Melbourne is very different. Much drier than Auckland and old buildings are better preserved in Melbourne. I live in Auckland but love visiting Melbourne every year or two because its different
@@Andy_M986 ive been in Melbourne during droughts like early last year.... The land along the Geelong Freeway looked like a parched desert. Never seen that in Auckland.

The Dude Behind The Camera thats interesting coz it looks so damn empty
The Dude Behind The Camera. Auckland looks like Beijing these days. Same as most cities unfortunately.
Take the underground!
take a bike or the busses,
I'm from Turkey and New Zealand is the one of the place where I want to go. New Zealand is really a worth country to explore.
@@dennisofster8623 I understand that the virus has not taken such a toll on NZ but that is because of its location and population ,stay safe
I'm from Auckland but I don't even know about most of these places. I am from South Auckland, however I do go to Auckland Uni and its crazy to think that these places are very new to me
Waw!

why so much hate on this beautiful city? Auckland is a wonderful place with lots to do. Please do not diss this city. I bet half of you are from a different country and never have been here. You just want to get some likes and brag to your friends, dude that's lame! There are many beautiful Devine cultures in this city. It's honesty one of the most beautiful countries in the world
I live in New Zealand Auckland, it's beautiful btw. I've lived there for 9 years came when I was 2 years old. But hardly goes to the city because parents to busy.
I was there in 2018 . Im live in vancouver now but I still miss alto there. My best of memories there
Wow, I haven't been in Queen Street since 2000, it has really changed.
I’d just moved to New Zealand in 2018. The memories of Auckland pre pandemic.
I love downtown Auckland! Lots of knick knack stores. Only complaint is that walking past beggars can be awkward. Especially if there are like ten in one street. Other than that, love it. Just please do not go after 6 PM
PS: the cafes are to die for. Decent coffee and amazing food.
Stephanie Parke nick nac stores ...... $2.00 shops you mean .
everyone's hating on auckland lived there for 10 years I hated it but I met allot of good people not everyone's bad
There’s an O’Connell Street in Dublin, Ireland too. We’re suing for copyright infringement. lol
Thank you so much.
I really miss Auckland, hope I can back the beautiful place again.
There’s an actual street in Auckland called “Shortland Street”? Same name as the NZ soap opera.
Yes, there's a Shortland street between Queen Street and Emily place.
Smith & Caughey. I spent a lot of time with Mrs Caughey, she was an amazing lady. I really miss her :(
New zealand is very beatiful.....
Homesick 😢. Kiwi living in Australia, I always miss it, it will always be home❤
Best clip to watch in lock down week 3ish...
I studied English in Auckland.. I miss being there. I just think this video should show the Britomart Station area, the boats, Fort street and Provedor's Bar :v
I miss there. I was there in 2004. Fantastic place.
I was in Auckland in 2018. Best time! The city isn't the same - Feb 2024 trip
I LOVE AUCKLAND CITY NEW ZEALAND THE BEST PLACE WONDERFULL AND GREAT PEOPLE
nice people??
Arrogant people. Full of themselves.
Ben Powell not sure why they are so arrogant!! Kiwis are so cheap consider how cheap they are they have nothing to be arrogant for!!!
I love the aggressive hobos that put there furniture on the footpaths
*GREAT PEOPLE* you say? Lmfao you haven't explored most of it haha
Left Auckland in 2001. Lots of changes. How about Downtown Auckland Bus Terminal? I still remember it was dirty and dark over there.
Lol that place was always dodgy
Seriously I’m so sad 😭 I was living there for almost 2 years. It’s a heaven
Heaven for refugees, indians and 3rd world shytholers lol...
They use to have a mall down near the waterfront. Should never have gotten rid of it.
I was born in 2010 and come to Auckland, I really hope you go to Auckland city fire station.
Very Relaxing. I love it👍
Wait till you see the traffic at 4:30pm on the western and southern highway
Wait till you see traffic in Los Angeles, New York or Toronto. Yeah, Auckland doesn’t have traffic compared to where I’m from.
zombie3434 of a city that’s got nearly 2 million people that has a country of 4 million? Yea it’s bad. Auckland is tiny compared to NY, LA and Toronto
Beautiful city New Zealand I love this city me from Pakistan
So peaceful, I love it 💕
The people in New Zealand are either really mean or really nice. Ive met Maori people that tried to knock me and my friend out and rob us and Ive met others that were chill and really helped us out.
Maori??? Or do you mean Samoan
@Michael Moretti you have to look up what happened to the Maori in there own country before you start talking shit

@Michael Moretti 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 that's a joke? Seriously?
They’re very verbally abusive and it’s made me not want to go anywhere near Auckland City
Less than the homelessness in Melbourne just now.
Hi.. Nice places.. Thanks again

First, Auckland city needs to build a differentiation based on the comparing with worldwide cities, for attracting tourists at least stay one day or so touring for enjoyment.
The second is to improve all traffics, such as accelerating the build of the mass transit from airport to down town that can provide a quick and comfort one or more days touring in the city.
Third, Plan, Design and Build the city flanges or the small surrounding towns with different characteristic touring attraction to suite elders relaxation, and kids entertainment, to attract worldwide people with interest and reasons to staying longer in the city.
Fourth, Recondition or upgrade the current old and noneffective train compartments and railway form Auckland to Wellington, for which along the railway going through different cities/towns with different attraction to meet young and elders' attraction, such as at the surrounding of each station with different foods court/entertainment, plus along the railway moving can see through the windows of each side, planting various scenic seasonal trees/flowers (colour change like Japan leaves and flowers with a reason to visit Japan by admiring the seasonal change) to suite the local environment of planting etc.

Moving back to Auckland after 40 years in OZ time goes quick A
So nice. It reminds me of how Australia was 30 years ago.
Oh... I miss Auckland downtown..
What a change...32 years on...
Omg.. I miss this city
Lived here all my life, has everything i need and more...just like any other country you have a mix of different personalities some people nice, some arrogant and of course theres crime...i mean name a country that doesnt have it
Is auckland a safe city?
Apoorva Kumar in some parts😇
Sega Pogi As in? I’ve heard that there’s been a sharp increase in the number of crimes being committed in Auckland recently? Have you ever felt unsafe?
Apoorva Kumar I was born in Auckland so definitely feel safe here
I've travelled all over the world, the cities in European settled countries all look so similar, it's a shame when a country has the chance to shine that it has the same multinational chains and the same grey architecture.
lived there for 3 yrs and its boring as fk(excuse my language) there is no where to go in this small city and its not modern compare to cities like NY, LA, Tokyo, Seoul, Paris, etc.
Na bro don't come back haha
I think Auckland has changed to much to fast! Some things have just gone to the dogs..don't get me wrong, I love my city... but some things just haven't been that well thought through!.. Walk before you can run.

My country much love to all new zealanders ❤❤❤❤❤
I live in South Auckland witch means I live 20 Minutes away.
New Zealand my second home❤

Seems it's a lot cleaner than DT Toronto
It's funny as a kiwi who lived in Toronto years ago, yes Auckland has a strangely similar layout...Queens Street is exactly like Bloor, where the road symmetrically divides the city in half and gently slopes down to end at the water. Also share a needle tower that looks the same
