Such a disappointment for her after playing so well - wishing her a speedy recovery ❤ I think she is outspoken, but does it in such a soft, respectful way 👌🏽
Just looking at the draws for next weeks tournaments and I see Leylah Fernandez entered into Adelaide qualifying where she gets tough draws from the first round now rather than Hobart which looked like a much easier path to a lot of ranking points. Maybe she couldn't get into Adelaide so late in the day
She’s too strong for the Hobart Draw playing the best at the UC like Coco, it only gets easier, as she destroyed Jodie who is a really good player ❤️❤️❤️
Yes exactly at a 500 you gain twice the points on less wins with her ranking higher than nearly half of the draw and her form of having faced some Really tough competition at the cup. I think it suited her well in terms of ranking as the WTA wants to make 250 more level and ranking based competition. At Hobart she would’ve been the number 1 seed so I do not think that was a possibility. I think travel may also have caught up with her in terms of the early exit but to honestly answer your question the Hobart entries were completed a while ago I feel her only option was the Adelaide with her current ranking. Hobart is a very tough tournament to get into with everyone wanting form before the A.O. I think this was Leylah’s only option possibly? Also as a Junior Finalist at the A.O. She is a rockstar and now has more time to get accustomed to the abhorrent A.O. Playing conditions. It might work out well for her ….
@@TennisinaMinute I was considering the travel might be a variable as she would not get the settling in time in Melbourne. it's always difficult with these things. and as you say she may not have got a place at Hobart, whereas Adelaide with the much tougher draw (and it is a tough tournament this time) might have been the only real option

@@TennisinaMinute Interesting take. isn't the idea to get ranking points to guarantee better entries into 250's and 500's?
