I've had a Standard for a year now, fly it round the farm whenever the weather permits. I fly missions using the Litchi App and can go as far as the battery will allow. Out of sight and behind hills it doesn't matter. Always comes home and lands exactly the same spot every time. Truly amazing.
Got one for Christmas. Super easy to set up and fly. My first drone ever. Highly recommended. Within 10 minutes of setup I was zooming around no problem
I have a Phantom 3 Pro but would not have minded if I had received the Standard as my 1st drone instead. A friend of mine has the Standard and we fly together and have similar experiences in handling and video with each one. DJI Phantom is a great product regardless of what you want to spend as a drone hobbyist. I appreciate all of those who post their experiences on-line. Keep it up and I will keep watching.
I just bought the DJI P3S 2 days ago! I live on the east coast so winter is approaching and it's been pretty chilly out lately so I'm waiting to take it out once the weather is fairly manageable. Great video bro! Love the channel
My neighbor gave me his standard. To me its like flying the space shuttle, with all the features its fantastic! I was part of the really early RC world, we had bang bang escapements and one channel! It took a long long time until all this was a reality. I am so glad I lived long enough to see it!
I got one refurbished.. love it. I also have a Mavic pro. As you said, my Phantom is the beginner drone that is not cheap (I've learned on the toys) but is ACTUALLY training me for the Mavic.
I am new to drones and have been looking at the P3S, as a starter. Your excellent video pushed me over the edge to make my purchase. I agree with those who say try a smaller cheaper drone first, but from what you describe, the safety features on the P3S will help you fly until you are ready for manual. I've had a Phantom3S for a couple of months now and I'd agree with pretty much everything you say, but I would add the following. The biggest demerit with this aircraft is the wi-fi link, which loses connection at quite short ranges, especially when you fly behind things and don't have direct line of sight. Usually you lose video connection first, so the picture freezes on your phone, although often you still have control of the aircraft. I bought a cheap parabolic reflector off ebay, and this has had a noticeable difference in the strength of the rf signal. The other point is that using wi-fi when flying drains your phone or tablet battery really quickly, so make sure you buy a brick charger. I'll be trading up to a Mavic soon, but the P3 has been an excellent learner drone. It performs brilliantly, feels solid and stable in the air and is fast, allegedly faster even than the Phantom4, which in turn is faster than the Mavic, so if you're into speed then the P3 Standard is a great buy.
about the same for me. its really fun. only complaint.. i wish i could fly it farther.. bc I have basically flown everywhere possible around my house. I drive to new locations to fly it now... I know its a lot farther than they advertise, but I flew it a mile away over open water.. was pretty cool
Jeremy, I really appreciate this video, I have a friend that has the Phantom pro, scared of losing it, which of course made me feel concerned, because I really don't anticipate having to feel anxiety when it is supposed to be fun. Personal photos are my interest, as well as just flying the aircraft for fun. The phantom 3 sounds like a good fit, thank you.
I think it's good advice for anyone who has never flown a drone to start with a cheap one. The syma x5c is really good for that. I am going to upgrade to a phantom 3 when I get the money but that drone has done a great job teaching me the basics of the controls and it doesn't matter if I crash it.

the good thing now is that if you do want to shoot in 4k you can get the new 2016 DJI Phantom 3 4k for the exact same price as the DJI Standard and you get a much better remote.
***** yeah exactly, I'd buy an advanced rather than the 4K cuz the advanced would make flying a little easier and more worry free so u can shoot cooler shots, the 4K just gives u a really good camera that chances r u don't need that good of a camera or u might not render/upload as a 4K video. It takes 1.5 hours to upload 1 min of 2.7k quality. High quality video doesn't mean more views, cool quality shots, content, and editing is what makes more views.

To answer ur last question, I would say maybe it could be a person starting up a studio or UA-cam channel and wanted to access 4K as cheap as possible, and invest into it to get more followers/viewers. With more followers/viewers they can got more money to spend on other better supporting equipment.

Good video. I have the same drone.... Phantom3 Standard and it makes a nice flying platform for photography. Super easy to fly and the Home and auto-return with lost signal are really good, although of course it's sensible to set the minimum flyback height so it will avoid trees and other obstacles. What's best about it is it's superb stability in flight and the rock steady video it can make. Glad I listened to your advice and bought this drone. I've been flying it for a few months now. It works well with my samsung Galaxy Tab4 7 inch tablet.
I ordered one of these today before watching this and I'm glad that I decided on my model for my first drone. I used a friends Dji Magic pro and I really liked it but too expensive for me and it felt a bit too fragile for my liking since it folds up so small but I think this model drone will be the perfect choice for me. I agree this is a great drone if you want to video or take photos, you don't really need to know how to fly... but if something goes wrong with the GPS signal and you cant fly, you're in trouble. A cheap alterative is the Syma X5, if you crash it while learning to fly, $39.00 for a new one. About what a motor costs on the DJI Phantom 3. I'd get this one after learning some basic flying skills on a cheap one. Unless flying it yourself doesn't interest you.
This is a good no frills review. I admit that 4K cameras are nice but Full HD is actually fine. The 500 meter range can be extended with an upgraded antenna.

I got a skyviper v2900pro for Christmas, it's my first drone and so I'm a newbie at this. I also have a hobby of flying pigeons so I'm hoping on getting some good footage as soon as I get better at controlling the camera straight while flying.

They are really simple, but take it slow and teach yourself how to recover during stressful times.. for example would you know how to control it if you lost GPS or video signal? Just practice practice practice and you will get more comfortable.

Thanks dude, looking at getting one for Christmas. Not sure whether to invest and go for the pro. Like the idea of being able to go the extra distance. Although with the return to home function it does give you that level of security so you don't have to panic 'too much' when it goes out of range. :)
The P3S is a great start into heavier, sophisticated video quadcopters, but far from a good idea for a true beginner in the hobby. Not only do you have too many features that cover up lack of flying skill, but you can really cause damage and injury with a Phantom easily. Syma X5C-1 or similar, and take the time to learn how to fly is a much better plan.
I bought one yesterday on amazon for $420 (December 30th 2016)! I bought it with all gift cards so it worked out perfectly! But the only down side is, is that it says it's coming Jan 17 - Feb 3 2016
I would love to get an Inspire One but it's quite an investment. I think I'm going to buy the P3 standard then upgrade in the future if I feel the need. BTW I will mainly be buying this drone for the camera.

I got a Traxxas Aton in March, but cause there was some Flew Away with the Aton, I seriously considered getting the Ph3S, but cause Aerial Photo was not my main goal, (I wanted to learn Sport flying) I bought the Aton. That camera is very good, who needs 4k to me the extra cost for the 4k drones isnt worth it

Ethan Russell $60 for a new antenna setup on the standard will get you further as well
the pro and adv also have a second gps antenna. so its three things really.

Awesome video. You just made up my mind. Been wanting a drone but afraid. You just made it look so simple.
They are really simple, but take it slow and teach yourself how to recover during stressful times.. for example would you know how to control it if you lost GPS or video signal? Just practice practice practice and you will get more comfortable.
Well the drone is good I just got it I'm pumped and it haves good Video quality and just over all is a amazing drone to be honest

Thanks for the video. I was just thinking, I wonder if the standard DJI Phantom would be good enough. I have a mini drone but would like to get a DJI for some high angle shots and was wondering if the Phantom 3 would be ok or if I should be getting the Phantom 4. Thanks dude, looking at getting one for Christmas. Not sure whether to invest and go for the pro. Like the idea of being able to go the extra distance. Although with the return to home function it does give you that level of security so you don't have to panic 'too much' when it goes out of range. :)

The P3S is a great start into heavier, sophisticated video quadcopters, but far from a good idea for a true beginner in the hobby. Not only do you have too many features that cover up lack of flying skill, but you can really cause damage and injury with a Phantom easily. Syma X5C-1 or similar, and take the time to learn how to fly is a much better plan.

I would love to get an Inspire One but it's quite an investment. I think I'm going to buy the P3 standard then upgrade in the future if I feel the need. BTW I will mainly be buying this drone for the camera.

Hi Jeremy, Thank you for this VERY nice presentation of the Ph3S. I got a Traxxas Aton in March, but cause there was some Flew Away with the Aton, I seriously considered getting the Ph3S, but cause Aerial Photo was not my main goal, (I wanted to learn Sport flying) I bought the Aton. The Aton is not a Stable Camera platform (yet...), and since Best Buy is now selling the Ph3S at 499$ CAN (about 390$ USD !), your presentation is tempting me to now get a Ph3S !
Erratum : last night my nephew showed me the Ph3S at 499$, BUT I just realized that was USD, NOT CAN !...
darn :(
