    Hey Bug, never took that kind of scientific measuring as you did, but here's my experience. I have a Vespa GTS 300 SuperTech (2023) with a flyscreen and top box. My top speed was 86.992mph (140kmh) when the electronic limiter kicked in. Is that real speed IDK, but that what the diplay was showing. I was on a flat highway, no wind, driving like I was on R1, going 180mph. Didnt't had the top box at that time. Flyscreen deffinitely helps to deflect wind from your body directly to your head. It looks damn good and I love it. I was waiting for my top box for eight months so that top speed was without one installed. I'll deffinitely make another test with top box installed. Keep up the good work and enjoy your rides!

      hey thanks!
      Maybe you know this... One thing I've always been curious about but never bothered to google is, why is it recommended to put heavier bar-end weights on the vespa once you install a top box? And is that specific to top boxes? Or, any additional weight on the back... Curious minds...

    • @danijelilic355
      @danijelilic355 6 місяців тому +1

      @@bugscooters Without them, it would be like driving a wobbly stick on jelly wheels. My previous Vespa ET4 150 didn't have them, and driving 50+ mph was suicidal. Tried it once and never again. They compensate the weight from the top box to the front wheel. It doesn't matter if the top box is empty or some weight is put into it.

    • @bugscooters
      @bugscooters  6 місяців тому

      @@danijelilic355 Interesting... I haven't noticed jelly wheels when I load up my roll bag on my rear rack, but I'm usually holding on with a death grip when I get up above 50 anyway. I'll have to give it a test.

    I have a '23 GTS 300 SuperTech. It came with the TALL Vespa windscreen and a Vespa top box when I bought it. I think it all looks cool but to each his own. I love the windscreen and have never driven without it. I get no wind on me except a light flapping on my outer arms. I am a big guy (6 ft and umm heavy). My Vespa can still haul my big ass upwards of low 70's (78mph "Vespa" speed whatever that is in reality). The handling (steering) feels a little squirrelly at high speeds when the weather *is also windy*. If there's no wind weather-wise I don't feel the "squirrelliness ". I've been through a couple of short rain showers and my outer arms are what got wet. The water that hits the screen rolls up to the top and over my head. I recently bought the FACO Twin screen because of the adjustability but have yet to install it. So I don't yet have an opinion about it. Although someone mentioned that rain with the FACO is a problem. So I might have to rethink that.

      @@bugscooters Something which has always made me scratch my noodle, as well as keeps me up most nights, is when I see big vehicles such as this, they are 37 feet off the ground, they have gun racks in the back window, coupled with a “no fear“ sign.

    If you're not too worried about the looks, you may like the Faco Twin Fly Screen. With the screen at near the full up position, I can see over it and have a calm enough air pocket behind it to be able to wear a cap at 55-60mph without it blowing off. I started off with the tall Vespa windscreen on my 2020 GTS. Yes, it is goofy looking and I didn’t like looking through the screen while riding, particularly when it was covered with raindrops. Switched to a medium and have been very happy with it (completely anecdotal as I have not put it through the rigorous evaluation that you have with the fly screen).
    Others must feel the same about the tall screen. It’s been on the market for a year and no takers.

    1.is it an ethical dilemma for a guy named 'Bug' to use a device to avoid his insect brethren? 2.definitely more wind noise with fly screen. 3.I got a Faco 13" medium wind screen that actually looks really good - not goofy at all and blows the wind around my sides and over my helmet. 4. I got the aftermarket tone wheel that Robot showed on the Scooterwest channel - it does what he said it would: 4a. makes the Vespa speedometer very accurate and 4b. gets me to a true 80mph. - '22 300GTS (arancio impulsivo - not important, but I just like saying it)

    I bought the windscreen, not the flyscreen for my GTS 300. I can’t imagine riding without it. Even with it, you can see the bugs and debris that litter the front of my motorcycle jacket. It’s like the face screen of your helmet. I can’t imagine the bugs hitting your face and hair being as romantic as the anti-helmet advocates make it sound. 😊

    Wow! I ordered my Vespa flyscreen some weeks ago and payed around 110,- USD. First step: Never buy your Vespa stuff at the Vespa dealer.They are expensive! For the comfort: It depends on your own height. I think it's a cool thing. Not better, not Bader. Same I had a Dart Flyscreen on my Triumph Bonneville many years ago. It looked very cool too, but no real better or bader with that too..... Enjoy your GTS!

    As with all your videos I had a good chuckle but also learned some things and confirmed what I have experienced. I never did a speed test but I do feel that the windshield does make the area around my helmet a bit more impacted by wind. I’d also have to test if it’s any louder. YMMV based on your torso height though I would think. That being said the last time I rode it at higher speeds it was quite windy. My flyscreen (a Falco/pictured in my channel avatar) definitely kept the wind off my chest. It was a way better ride overall. I don’t have plans to ever take this on the freeway and the 60-65 mph range is great with it imo. I think it was well worth the purchase. I didn’t go with the Vespa brand as I wanted something that matched the trim a bit better. Darker is fine since I’m looking over it anyway. If anyone has been eyeing this flyscreen it’s pretty high quality and less expensive than the OEM screens. Wish it didn’t have the “GTS” emblem etched in it but the falco emblem was easily removable with some heat and GooGone.

    • @bugscooters
      @bugscooters  6 місяців тому

      I'll mark this as the first time someone as actually learned something on this channel! WHAT A COUNTRY!
      Yeah, that GTS emblem is a real turn-off, to be honest. I'd be covering that with some sort of sticker or something. I do like the idea of a darker windscreen to match the trim. I was never really a huge fan of the whole 'blacked out' thing, but it has grown on me and now I prefer it over chrome...

      @bugscooters  6 місяців тому

      Yup. I tried earplugs on the vespa today (been using them a few days on the motorcycle) and it's certainly quieter! But the earplugs I got seem to amplify some sort of low-end exhaust noise that I wasn't even aware of, which is odd. I do have a cold, so maybe my ears are just outta whack. However. I think earplugs in general are gonna be how I roll.

    Great stuff, Bug. Similar to my experience. Not sure if you are aware that decibels are exponential, so even a few decibels higher is a lot louder. I always wear earplugs, after I realize I forgot to put them in. After 50 years of riding, I’ve only lost a bit of hearing in my right ear. Helmet design makes a big difference too.
