This is awesome. Big up Usain Bolt and big up Jamaica. make sure you all visit Jamaica to learn more about why Jamaica and Jamaicans are so great. See you all in Jamaica. Bim!
he only seems shy because these interviews are done in america and he has to think too much about the words he uses. because if he talked like he does in jamaica you guys wouldn't understand him half the time.
Most Jamaican celebrities once they hit the international stage think that they need to speak in American accent for people to understand them, which is just ridiculous!
Exactly Shar - these ppl expecting him to show up on these shows speaking Yardcore Patios are clueless. The concept of adapt to the circumstance to advance is probably too complex for them. He sounds Jamaican, he's not trying to hid or disguise it and he does have to be accessible to all cultures to run what is now his business. Those that get it, will - those that don't never will
Usain is very charming and represented well. But I just wish that he and all other Jamaican celebrities would get speech coaching to learn how to speak clearly in our own JAMAICAN accent, which we should be proud of!
Redstripe555 and Sharon0228 clearly you have missed my point. There is a marked difference between speaking in Standard English in your native/natural accent vs Patois vs TWANGING. Be observant and note the differences. Famous Jamaican public speakers such as Faye Ellington, Dorraine Samuels and our PM Bruce Golding speak standard English (not patois) when on air and this they do in our beautiful Jamaican accent. Thanks tanyab28....I believe you understand my sentiment on the matter.
he spoke well...what we as jamaicans forget is that we CAN speak STANDARD ENGLISH!! do any of us remember our parents telling us to do that? especially when guests come over? Patwa has its time and place, but not on a #1 rated interview show...He has to speak STANDARD ENGLISH for them to understand what he is saying...do your thing Usain, BORN JAMAICAN FI LIFE!!!! PROUD OF YOU AND ALL THE ATHLETES!!!
he gotta speak a little propa fi the world to understand him. you cant blame him he not doing a yard interview, if him talk raw regis dem wouldnt understand a bloodcleet word im seh. it a time and place fi everything some ppl jus badmind fi no reason jah kno.
its isnt because they would understand cause hello its broken english also we are raise speakin british english. just have to be careful period wen talkin on any show here
Jamaicans NEED to learn that 'twanging' doesnt sound good,it doesnt make americans understand us better,it makes us sound ILLITERATE and DUMB,that's why americans will always think we cannot speak english...we have a LOVELY jamaican accent that we need 2 b proud of....a lot of them need to be taught how to speak SJE(standard jamaican english) and not twang...he was definately twanging...still proud of his achievement though.
Bwoy ppl jus love fine fault wid everything. If anuh one ting a di odda. Low how di man talk him will speak patios when he has to. PPl can neva plz unuh cuz unuh love fine fault. If him accent did straight unnuh woulda find suppn else fi talk bout unuh stop it man geez.
