I did a trailer reaction to this on day 1 & I’ll tell ya - in about as big a Crow fan as they come and Brandon’s movie is essentially perfect….but I’m REALLY looking forward to this one. I’m GLAD they just aren’t copy/pasting the ‘94 movie or Brandon’s look. It was smart to do something completely new, while maintaining what a Crow movie should have. I really hope it turns out amazing & that we get good sequels with new and amazing stories of love and revenge.

I'm a gen xer and i just watched the original 3 nights ago . It's a classic but i am wide open to a new version.
I remember Jared Leto was the first casted and It fell apart then it was Bradley from hangover then that was like 2 months then it was Jason for a few years then it was bill

I could not be more excited for this one I'm not crazy about the tattoos but he does look better with the jacket and the make up, Director Rupert Sanders discribed this take as an anti Marvel movie. One of the screenwriters is Zach Baylin who is a very talented writer he did Creed III, he did Grand Turismo, King Richard, so they have a very solid writer writing this, Director Rupert Sanders when talking about the movie said " What happened to Brandon Lee was such a tragedy and his presence was very much felt on set throughout, we hope he's proud of what we've done". Sanders also said in a recent interview
“‘The Crow’ is the original anti-superhero,” Sanders said in a newly released statement. “His story is about tragic loss, about dealing with the pain of everything that comes with losing someone you love, something that all of us have or will encounter at some point in our lives. It is about the dark shadow of grief, about what we would do when something so meaningful is taken from us.”
He also added “The original graphic novel is deeply meaningful for so many, and the character, his journey and his need for revenge has inspired a canon of films for the last three decades. Our version goes back to that graphic novel by James O’Barr, who I had the honor of meeting shortly before production, and explores the love story as the primary drive for our film.”

That quote would resonate more if the trailer had an emotional impact or atmosphere or something. They’ve clearly added more time for Eric and Shelley to build a relationship, but the trailer shows no connection between them at all. Some greeting card dialogue and a dispassionate Q&A in a bathtub does not a love story make.
As for the dialogue, I have trouble believing an actual human wrote it. Maybe there’ll be at least a few good lines in the full movie.
How is this “ darker”? Do you mean more violent? I agree with that. The vibe doesn’t look dark.
The violence makes it darker the way it is shot doesn't appear to be "darker" as the Crow was damn completely done at night

What if the movie was about a regular guy. He breaks down on the side of the road in the rain. Then a gang of thugs roll up and attack them on the side of the road? Would that be an awesome movie? And the bird isn't even real but in his head. And its black and white? Wouldn't that be epic?

The only real reason the 94 movie has Eric bring a local singer is because originally, the producers wanted to cast Michael Jackson as the Crow. And it was supposed to be a musical. I challenge you to pick up the graphic novel of The Crow. And after reading it. Tell me that wouldn't be awesome to see on the big screen

Snarky jay has been the only person to be negative about this but I have never seen her make a positive reaction to anything ever I haven’t seen any one else be negative towards this and here is the thing for me they have made sequels that have been better then the Brandon lee movie but haven’t lived up to it the remake to the Brandon lee movie exists it’s called stairway to heaven it’s a TV movie that is a full remake from the ground up to tie into the mini series fox did it’s better but it’s nowhere close to doing what Brandon and Ernie Hudson did
The story is about real tragedy. This story was born by real tragedy that James O’Barr experienced in mid to late 80s. This shit doesn’t have the vibe of tragedy. This is some cash grab mainstream blockbuster bullshit that is trying to be a ghetto john wick meets island boy. This will be gory I can tell. And probably entertaining. But so is picking a giant scab. This has nothing to do with Brandon Lee. Yes he was epic in my opinion. But seriously the right director/writer could give us a “ darker” version that says tragedy while being maybe much closer to the main crow graphic novels. Auto in the trailer is telling me the vibe their going with is extremely mainstream.
It might be a good movie, They should have never touched it though & came up with their own original ideas & title..

This is HORRIBLE!!!!! I tried to not watch the trailer and even though I feel Bill would pull it off much better than the other suggestions for the remake I have seen through out the years. I absolutely DO NOT like the look of the new look. The appearance alone has ruined it. But they will make money on it because people will want to reluctantly see it to compare it and by then, the film makers will be happy with its attendance. But I won't see it till its on a streaming channel or where I don't have to pay to see it outright. The trailer is extremely disappointing. It hurts my heart. This is nothing more than a vigilante movie who has supernatural powers. Bill does not have the charisma needed to pull this off.
There is too much color. The Gotham City appearance and shadow work like with the original is not there. Even the Crow 2 had better cinema elements for viewing pleasure than this new thing. I really like Bill but this has been ruined. The original had a hard anti-drugs message. The new one casts Eric & Shelly as junkies who escape rehab, go on a drug binge & are eventually murdered. That tells you everything you need to know about what's wrong with the new film. For this remake to turn Eric 180-degrees on that mark is tantamount to blasphemy. The more and more I look at this, the more and more I dislike it. I have a feeling they will ruin the soundtrack too. I saw the original movie 15 times in the theater...I won't even see this one once. If anything, they should have made a movie based on the female character O'Barr wrote about in the same light - not a abhorrent remake of the original cult classic.
