Lyrics
This ain't a song for the broken-hearted
No silent prayer for faith-departed
And I ain't gonna be just a face in the crowd
You're gonna hear my voice when I shout it out loud
It's my life
It's now or never
But I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just want to live while I'm alive
It's my life
Yeah, this is for the ones who stood their ground
For Tommy and Gina, who never backed down
Tomorrow's getting harder, make no mistake
Luck ain't even lucky, got to make your own breaks
It's my life
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life
Better stand tall when they're calling you out
Don't bend, don't break, baby, don't back down
It's my life
And it's now or never
'Cause I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just want to live while I'm alive
And it's now or never
I ain't gonna live forever
I just want to live while I'm alive
(It's my life)
My heart is like an open highway
Like Frankie said, "I did it my way"
I just want to live while I'm alive
'Cause it's my life

Keep in mind the "Tommy and Gina" reference in this song goes back to Living on a Prayer, so for many of us who've been listening to Bon Jovi since the 80s, this is the continuation of our collective story.
Totally came here to say the same thing!! Loved that little callback so much.
It was extra hilarious that he paused the song right before the "Tommy and Gina" line to say the song reminded him of Livin' on a Prayer.
Not gonna lie, he made me feel so ancient when he said that. I grew up on Bon Jovi and loved Livin' on a Prayer and Dead or Alive. I remember downloading this from Napster.
Amen💚
I realized that a few years ago
This isn't just a song, it's an anthem. Bon Jovi was an icon in the 80's and 90's. This video has a billion views because, once upon a time, practically *everybody* knew who the band was even if they didn't like their music. Their songs were all over the radio and their videos were on MTV every hour. They were also responsible for other good bands getting their shot, such as Cinderella. And if that wasn't enough, Jon Bon Jovi is someone who gives a lot of effort towards charities. Back when they were at their most popular, it wasn't unheard of for them to massively tip wait staff every time they went somewhere. Out here where I live, when they rolled through, the waitresses at the overnight diner they stopped at were all tipped $500 each... Which was a lot more money in the 80s than it is today.
Also absolute karaoke banger ! 😂
Jon Bon Jovi has a heart the size of a watermelon. Always there to do what he can, when he can. Like when he said: "I'll gladly pay more taxes to help the less fortunate." And I know this for a fact, because I'm the one he said it to - I was lucky enough to bump into him when the band was in Amsterdam doing promotion for the "Have a nice day" album in 2005. That time I also found out the band had donated one million dollars to the victims of hurricane Katrina, but anonymously - they didn't like the idea of flaunting and making it appear like a promotion campaign rather than them actually caring. These are class act people, make no mistake.
Could not word this better myself so I won’t even try. Just add that there’s a whole generation of us who grew up with Bon Jovi as a part of our life soundtrack:
500 tip is still a lot lol
A lot of us have listened to this band for almost 40 years. He is one man who is aging like a fine wine. ❤
Check out Bad Medicine or Wanted Dead or Alive.
oh fine wine indeed! I ain't one for the blonde boys or old men but this man!
He already did WDOA. Bed of Roses would be great.
Blaze of Glory is still one of my favorites
Really,Leona ? Have you been hiding under a rock ? People are talking about how shot his voice is and how it is really an embarrassment , not to mention a rip-off. Jon smoked a lot now its.time to hang it up .You can pull up recent performances. and see for yourself. Not a pretty situation , Leona .
@@markdraine3571 did I mention his voice? I only commented on his looks. If you are gonna shoot your mouth off. You are talking to wrong person. You may want to re read what I wrote. Thank you ignorant man.
This is the song that helped shaping early millennium rock music scene. One of the most popular song of late 90's and early 00's kids.
"Like Frankie said "I did it my way"" is a shoutout to the one and only Frank Sinatra who is Bon Jovi's Great Uncle
That's a hell of a relation.
It was kind of a comeback for Bon Jovi after their success in the 80s. One of my favorite songs by them
*Well, after the band absence, here in Europe they survived Grunge with 1992 comeback album "Keep The Faith", which spawned some singles, including "Bed Of Roses", then they've released their first Best Of-album "CrossRoad" in 1994, which included their biggest hit so far, "Always", and the 2nd new song "Someday I'll Be Saturday Night", only to lead up to their 1995 album (these Days), which spawned 5 singles in Europe. The band paused then for 3 years between 1997-2000, which gave space for 2 solo-albums [1 by JBJ, 1 by RS] and a first sign of life by the band in 1999 with their soundtrack-song "Real Life". Then they came back in spring 2000 with the first single from the album "Crush", "It's My Life".*
@@NicholasCorvin how could people forget 90s Bon Jovi exist right? My fav era from them. Completely different image and still found success.
Bon Jovi was also very successful in the 90s
They were even successfull in the early 2000s. Lol how u all could forget? Have a nice Day peaked at no 1 all over the world and was a huge success. I mean the Album, but also the Single was quiet popular.
And their Album "The Circle" also reaced no 1 in many countrys. So they had quiet a huge success in the 2000s as well
Gotta react to some of his classics man. "You give love a bad name" and "Livin on a prayer"
@Kraze Oh, didn't know that. Whoops
I hate livin on a prayer
@@melodybaby9398 good, that’s the principle of music and colors !
@@melodybaby9398 sorry to hear that, but well we all have diffrent tastes, you like this one tho just shows you can dislike one legend and love another.
Yes plz!! I need to hear you give love a bad name
As a 2000 kid with two older siblings, this type of music was what we used to listen to all the time in car rides, full volume, just singing our hearts out with our parents aswell. Music can have so much power especially depending when or who you listen to it with too. Sad that most pop music nowadays completely lost that
The biggest problem with pop music today is that it has auto correction with their voices and they sound too mono toned. I don’t feel that they get their careers by being talented but just their looks and maybe appeal to others so they can sell albums. It’s a shame.
I know right...?
Requests for other HYPE SONGS "Bon Jovi - Lay Your Hands On Me" "Bon Jovi - Wanted Dead or Alive" "Bon Jovi - Bad Medicine"! and any other BON JOVI!
Young Guns 2 Soundtrack also 😀
Amen. They rock!
I love Bad Medicine!!!
Blame it on the Love of Rock and Roll 🎸
Bad Name 🤩
Ukrainians are blasting this, and singing it, while the Stand thier ground!!!!
AMEN!
Love that!
My most favorite band hands down. His lyrics can speak to your soul. Plus he does lots for his community. He has a restaurant that has no prices so if you have no money just pitch in and help clean. That is payment enough. 💜
Just like the message of this song, it's your life and you can listen to whatever you want. It doesn't matter what your generation likes or expects of you. YOU DO YOU and if you like it, your contemporaries can kick rocks because it's never about them but what makes you happy. Next year will be 40 years that Bon Jovi has been around making music. When you love Bon Jovi, you LOVE Bon Jovi and they have a huge loyal fan base because they are still out there making music and performing.
"It's my life, and it's now or never. I ain't gonna live forever. I just wanna live while i'm alive."
There are people who believe in rebirth, but even so you never live the same life twice, so live life to the fullest and have no regrets. Live every day like it's your last....that's the message i always got from this song and it's always been a favorite of mine. I'm glad that you decided to listen to it. Awesome choice, seriously.
There's an old Polish proverb that says : God gives us our lives as a Gift - and gifts are meant to be Enjoyed ❤️🇵🇱❤️

I watch my dad die for 3 days and when we got to the car after he died this song was playing, and it made me realize my dad did his life his way even if no one agreed with him so every time I hear it I think of him
It's an anthem, that's why it's so popular. The lyrics resonate with anyone, from any walk of life.
I heard this when I was in my high school days. Even after all these years, still bang my head to it. An absolute rock classic.
You have hit the nail on the head with your comment about music making you feel something. It's something I've said so many times before that current music has been losing it's heart. It's just fodder to fill your head. But stuff from 20-30 years ago really stirs your emotions and makes your heart get involved in it. I'm glad you're feeling the effects that music has to offer and finding the meaning that it's conveying.
YESSSS. 2017+ music started feeling empty and just nonsense
You can definitely still find a lot of meaningful modern music, it's just usually not the music that gets the most spotlight in the mainstream.
@@nadinehoogenboezem4798 I agree. 2000s anything was probably the best era of modern music. Every genre had hits and everything was something to listen to with good vibes. Didn’t matter the emotions you were already feeling, the songs always fit.
I personally love 80s, 90s, and early 2000s music.
Nowadays it’s just like what the hell am I listening to?
@@LittleLondonCottages true. I feel like rock, ballads and 90s to 2000s give special meaning to music. 60s are also just a plain great nostalgia trip because I may have been born in 2001, but my grandparents listened to beatles quite a bit. As well as Queen. They are very fond of Neil Diamond, Billy Joel, Michael Jackson and Elton John. Also.... LOTS AND LOTS OF Andrew Lloyd Webber and Sondheim
@@nadinehoogenboezem4798 I grew up on AC/DC and A Flock Of Seagulls. My best friends family listened to the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac and I got a lot of my favorites from them.
For the record: Franklin is a reference to Frank Sinatra and his famous song "My Way."
I first saw Bon Jovi before he was famous (he was the opening act for Ratt), a year later he was huge. His songs are so simple and yet so powerful, it's impossible not to love his sound.
Bon Jovi is a legend he’s been around he’s amazing
Bon Jovi has a rabid fan base. People who love them LOOOOOVE them. He is also a good actor I've enjoyed in a few films.
Bed of Roses is one of my top 5 Bon Jovi songs, a lot softer but so good. Jovi is brill, and so is your reaction
orh! our boy is turning from a rap boy to a rock boy😍 Dont be sad about it! it happens in age😊 its cute!!
Been a fan of bon jovi since I was 10 and now I am 41. This is my song whenever I feel down Understandable you are still young and still discovering old songs
The band said Ukrainians could use it. It is uplifting.
Bon Jovi puts on an Awesome show live! I've been a fan from day one. I knew you were going to love it by how you were bopping to the song. They pulled you in. Bon Jovi is a huge rabbit hole to enjoy. They have a huge catalog spanning 39 years. They formed in 1983. Enjoy the journey if you decide to dive into more of their songs.
Literally saw them in concert 2 nights ago. Still getting it done.
Bon Jovi...."Hallelujah" .....hang on to your heart. It deserves a listen.
It got a billion views because Bon Jovi is a legendary band that will go down in history books. I'm not a huge Bon Jovi fan myself but I do recognize how good they are and what they've done for the music industry.
It's so funny you talk about this song reminding you of "Living on a Prayer"; the second verse begins with "Tommy and Gina, who never backed down". Tommy and Gina are the characters from "Living on a Prayer".
In his time he was considered the best singer along with being the best performer. Past that the guy did own if not still does own a restaurant where the homeless eat for free. Great human being.
What you said about Music having a message, that is the basis of all music. The Bards, Troubadours, Skalds, etc the songs they sung from before we could record it all had meaning. That is something that is often lost nowadays, now people just record words to music that don't have meaning.
This is a HUGE hit from a MAJOR band. They hit it big in the 80s (my generation) but this album launched them into stardom with millennials like my niece who is 25 years younger than me. Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora are great songwriters and musicians, which is why it has millions of views.
Please don't apologize for "ranting". It's your honest reaction. It's why we love your videos (well that and your crazy dancing!). Keep being you, bro.
1 billion views does not equal 1 billion viewers. If a person watches this ten times, that's 10 views. A person can watch a youtube video more than once.
I think the youtube algorithm only counts new devices as views, not how many time someone watches the video from their phone. Im not sure but thats whats I had seen :)
@@linanafie8571
no it count every view with more than 30 sec, only the algorithm delite views that are very often the same video and nearly the minimum time also.
so when you watch the same video each day you make 365 views yourself in a year
I nearly died laughin😂😂.....
"A billion views?" next moment he got hooked😂😂😂😂😂
This song is actually the sequel to Living on a Prayer if you listen to the words in the original song the talk about Tommy who used to work on the docks and Gina who works the diner all day while the boy and the girl in this video are Tommy and Gina.
And songs like this are why Jon is in the music writers hall of fame AND the rock and roll hall of fame!
Back in the 80's, music videos were an art form and many songs were messages that spoke the heart of our generation.
Livin on a prayer was Bon Jovi that’s why you’re reminded of it! 😂 Fantastic band that made songs over decades! 👏
You should see ukrainians from Odessa defending their city to the sound of this song. It takes on a whole different meanin! Here is to the ones who stood their ground! Slava Ukraini!
If half that support was shown to literally any other or the countries being blasted to smithereens in just the last 2 decades, maybe the world would have been a better place. Somehow we all seem to become oblivious when 'murricah does the same shit all around the globe and does it 10 times worse'
is there a link to see this. I hope they keep fighting.
@@lauramuller7079 ua-cam.com/video/YlWKrxLBsss/v-deo.html it’s short, but powerful.
Why bring that here? You trying to start a comment war? Don't do that shit again
@@jaypandya7441 the person I responded had asked for the link.
It's your life and You ain't gonna live forever.. those two means so much
Runaway, Bed of Roses, Always, Dead or Alive....classic 80s rock music....it's arena music. Bon Jovi does it best. You can't help but feel good, dance, rock out, bounce around, blast it in your car.
This is why our generation was so happy. It was the music!
My favourite song of all time. Everytime I hear bon Jovi I'm up on my couch rocking that s""t 🤣
I'm with you. A billion is a lot for this song. I think maybe because us die hard Bon Jovi fans are so eager to hear this band that when this song came out and it was so good, we couldn't get enough.
Bon Jovi back in the 80s were the hooptie! They made hit after hit. Then nothing great, but we never gave up. Their first hit "Living on a Prayer" got us addicted.
They always raised our vibrations and we wanted that feel good to continue. Anyway, we all get old but we did have the best music. All real talent! No autotune, no computerised sounds. Just talent
We all get old, except for apparently Bon Jovi.
“Living on a prayer” was not their first hit though. Some of us have been around since “Runaway”
Everybody loves a good anthem.
Great reaction! Very well said too- if the music doesn’t mean anything, what’s the point!
I enjoy when you “rant” and hearing your thoughts on things!
I absolutely love bonjovi I just recently attended his concert April 15 2022. MAN IS A GENIUS..
This was a come back for bon Jovi and got a hole new generation of fans, so it will always be popular
I'm in my 30s and have been a fan since I was 5. All his songs are real good the best ones have Richie Sambora as co-vocals with Jon Bon Jovi.
I still remember when this premiered, after not having a proper single released in almost a decade was - intense
Tommy and Gina returns! You should recall that they were the main characters of "Livin' On A Prayer"!
My favorite song done by Bon Jovi!!! Thank you. Another one nobody reacts to is, "Have a Nice Day".
Spot on with your view!!!❤❤❤. Im 68 and I STILL ROCK to this music!!!
This is what music used to be and this is what was very popular. I can't imagine listening to music that didn't make me feel something.
1 billion because it's good but also because it's an anthem. It spoke to an entire generation and was super formative for them
This is part two of Tommy n Gina, they did make it Living On A Prayer, by remembering Its My Life
I was born in the 80’s and grew up in the 90’s, Bon jovi was a big part of my childhood, they are classic rock, I’ve literally loved almost everything they’ve done, this is now 1 of the classics, never gets old
Wanted dead or alive is a must. Bon jovi have been my boys since runaway. Am nearly 49 seen them every time they came to Scotland. Lay your hands on me, born to be my baby. Wanted was always the second last song they sang....gives you goosebumps man!
Love Bon Jovi!! I have seen them 4 times and has his ox head tattoo on me too. This is my life! From childhood all the way to now. I have grown up with all his song going through my veins!! 🤘💙💙💙
Bon Jovi has a HUGE following! Particularly with the ladies of a certain age… (40-55+) as we were all at the right age when he was starting out… yeah, the memories… so, yes, lots and LOTS of views! There’s a movie called Young Guns 2, where he did a whole album of songs inspired by the movie, they are SO awesome!! As for others that you could react to… classic, The Doors, 80’s- Van Halen, Motley Crew, Def Leopard, Poison, Twisted Sister, Cinderella, Kiss, Scorpions, Judas Priest, and of course Aerosmith (there are tons more!) and if you want to get completely out of the rock range… there’s a Moroccan born Canadian artist, Faouzia, she’s only 21, turning 22 this year, studying computer engineering who has an absolutely amazing voice! She did a cover of J. Coles Middle Child (absolutely awesome). Or try something foreign… Dimash, he has a style for everyone. What I mean is, he sings all the genres, he also sings all the ranges and he can sing them in 13 different languages. I look forward to seeing more of your reactions… and saw in one of your Guns & Roses reactions your Deut. 31:6 band, awesome.
I think that there are more guys of a certain age who wouldn't complain (even if they wouldn't all admit it! 😏) either! 😁
Let's face it, Jon BJ is a damned fine looking guy! 😁 ❤️
It got a billion views because Jon Bon Jovi is one of the best human beings alive and a wonderful entertainer.
Bon Jovi is an amazing man one of the best rockstars of my generation
The really good guitar rips will make you FEEL. A LOT.
Written by the one of the world Most successful producers/songwriters MAX MARTIN. The band choose the song as their comeback. Max Martin presented the song to A&R, publishers, agents and managers for consideration and Bon Jovi picked it up after rejecting 60 other songs . Jon Bon Jovi and Richie Sambora added some stuff and lyrics and became co-writers.😀
It's really fascinating to see a rap fan listen to rock in the beginning; not sure if they like what they're hearing, but then slowly start to get into it until they jumping in their seats and enjoying the song. That's when you know a group has talent. When they can get people who would not normally listen to their style excited and involved.
You know you are a true music person when you can appreciate all types of music. My uncle taught me that many years ago. He said you can love music but you are not a music lover until you open your ears and listen.
Jojo...Lol...I have too. In a good way. 😁
Lyrically, Frankie refers to Frank Sinatra, "I Did It My Way" and "Tommy and Gina never back down" from their song "Livin on a Prayer."
That song alone reinvented after 9/11.
Glad you are one of us 1B views!! 🥳👍🏽
Loved your reaction.
It was the summer when i turned 18 when this came out, beer, pizza, music with friends just left school and ready to conquer the world. It was a good time
billion view is not about how good this song, not all watcher fans of this band.
but many of them watching and listen just for bring back back memories and nostalgia of early 2000`s.
Much of the rock and metal music of the 80s was about breaking societal norms and living your best life to the max, regardless of what the elders say you have to do. It’s been accused of causing a breakdown in discipline which seems to be a recurring theme of those who try to shut it down but the message generally isn’t one of breaking rules that should be kept. It’s about not letting daddy tell you which college to attend, not letting mum tell you who to marry, not letting the popular kids tell you who the losers are, not being afraid to go against the grain and not being afraid to take a chance over the fear of failure. A lot of the rap artists you may listen to took their queues from the rock and metal music of the 80s
Jon Bon Jovi is hot, the music is amazing, the band is sooo good. That's why it got a billion views.
Hey Jojo. Man, what a great reaction to one of my all-time top favorite songs! I am so happy & thankful that you really enjoyed this one and actually FELT something - as I do, Every. Single. Time I hear it and/or see the video...fun facts: I first saw Bon Jovi perform their very first single called "Runaway" on a classic 70's & 80's tv Show called "Solid Gold" in the early 80's (I was born in '71 so the 80's were my formative teen years!). I have seen them play LIVE several times over the years, and I actually ran into Jon and the Band one day at a place called Signature Flight Support at Teterboro, NJ a few years ago when I was working as a charter jet co-captain. Talk about a really, really COOL "Circle of Life" type of moment... 😎🤘❤🔥
My cousin made me listen and discover this song back in 2003-2004, I was only 7 years old and even then I thought this song was such a bomb and amazing!! And Ive been living by this song ever since 😂😂
My mum passed down her love of 80s music especially Bon Jovi and Jason Donavon for male singers
I have the Crush Album bought it the year 2000. Love every song it's that good!
I actually never knew of this song until about 2016; a woman would sing it at karaoke at a bar my gf and I used to frequent, but I think the song is from about 1998-2000
Facts, authenticity is key to an enjoyable song. Always love seeing your reaction to these legendary songs.
notice how he says : for Tommy and Gina who never back down! that's a reference to the song livin on a prayer 😀 Tommy used to work on the docks and Gina worked the diner all day 😀😀
OMG! YOU GET IT! Just wanna give you a big ole grandma hug!
The actor in the video is Will Estes! He plays Jamie Regan in Blue Bloods.
And he did all his own stunts in this video 😉 and he’s been in quite a few music videos
I get such a kick out of seeing you suddenly "get" a song and just start rockin' out with it. Keep reacting, you're growing and learning.
The reason this song has so many views is because it's got a great video to go with a great song. It's both simulating for the eyes and ears.
Highly recommend Lay your hands on me, wild in the streets, runaway and This is love this is life. Some of the best. Keep it up man love your rock reactions
Saw them in concert a few years back (8-9) in a outdoor stadium, wow what a night, they were great.
I believe back in the 80/90's they had practically played on almost every major stage hence to how big this band was at the time.
I legitimately love your reactions. They are so honest. And watching you really connect with a song you didn't know you would is real. It's an awesome thing to watch! Thanks for sharing with us!
Don't apologize. You are absolutely right. Music should mean so and make you feel.
You are happiness personified, one gets happy just to see you. Stay on that road. All the best and success to you!
This song and Runaway were two of their best songs imo.
They write for the money, not from and for the heart. When you have the rollercoaster of emotion's, you know that the person who wrote it, is feelin all the same thing's, as they pull you into their own journey, at the same time. And, that's what Jon Bon Jovi(The person singing) is known for doing, with his song's, that he has written himself, with help of other's idea's and opinion's...
LOOOVE YOUR ENTHOUSIASM!!! This is my go to song when I clean the house!!! To remind me that's not what I want to live!!!
Don't hold back that first step to your life. No matter what anyone says, you are drawn to do what you were made to be. There is a reason your feet move one in front of the other. Progress, goals. Sending deep vibes of no hesitation. Peace and successful blessings.
JBJ yo... one of the best rock bands of all time. Saw them live maybe 7 or 8 years ago, they still wailed.
the reason it reminds you of living on a prayer is because the guitar player (Ritchie Sambora) is using a device called a "Talk box." It's essentially a separate, highly distorted little amp with a physical tube coming out of it. The guitar player puts it in his mouth and he able to manipulate the sound of the guitar with his mouth and make it sound like he is talking. Both living on a prayer and it's my life feature it. Along with a handful of others. But those are the two main ones that pretty much everyone knows.
Music is always from the Heart... Hello everyone... Namaste from India 🙏
Bro dont be sorry for ranting, thats what we are here to watch! Within reason of course. Your reactions are so honest and pure, keep it up! Love it!
Jeez I was 12 years old when that song came out und went top of the charts for month. We had kids disco at school parties back then too where we played this song for hours and sang along. Good old times. :D
My mans, you need to start reacting to Alter Bridge. Myles Kennedys voice is out of this world. Blackbird is a must, but maybe start with Open your Eyes. Also, if you can, try to check out the live version, they are even better than the studio versions. I guarantee you, every song they do is a banger and full of emotions and meaning.
I'm guessing that NOW you know why it has over a billion views!!! I'm surprised its not 2 billion!!! Give it time!!!🎶🎼🎵🥁🎧🎹🎙🔥🔥🔥🔥🤘🤘🤘🤘
