My favorite country song ever... gives me chills. I switch my favorite song every once in a whipe but it always comes back to this. This is how the South should be, and it still is in my heart.
I agree I live in Tennessee and wish we all could get back to having dinners after church on Sundays. Every day including this gets played. My music shuffles and every other song it comes back to this.
We need to go back to Sunday In The South! I remember going to church, then gathering at the community hall for lunch after church. I miss those days so much.
I just posted a comment saying the same thing. If it's been a bit since I've heard it, I always get goosebumps within the first thirty seconds or so. It's incredibly rare for a song to do that.
Country music always sounds it's most authentic when a real honest to god southern country boy is singing it. A lot of today's 'country music' is sung by people that ain't even southern.
I remember watching Austin city limits as a kid here in Tennessee. I remember this episode. This song reminds me so much of going to my Gran gran and Pa Pete's house after church on Sunday's. Boy I sure do miss those two and wish we all could get back to that.
For me this song brings back memories of a simpler time and places. A time when all my family was still alive and my friends were well simple and boy do I miss it. Love you grandma and Pepaw and thank you for being a rock! Rest in peace and can’t wait to see you again!

Absolute memory lane for me, every single time I hear this song....there's just something about it, and it speaks to simpler times and better times.
I just get lost in memories outside doing anything and everything and just simpler.

And I have said for 2 decades, authenticity is what is missing in country.
I agree with you.
