Looks like an absolute brilliant job ,brian should consider his own UA-cam channel its very satisfying to watch him work 👍
Yep..he should..
What a quality tradesman, pleasure to watch and learn from someone who excels at what they do
Always great to see a master of their trade sharing their skills for others. Top quality job.
You got to get yourself a sander mate. Now we have extractors and high end sanders, it’s a no brainer, clean house, clean lungs, fantastic finish..
I learned so much from Brian in this video. He’s an absolute expert. Brilliant!
Love it you and your family should be so proud one word
AMAZING 🤩 👌👌👌
What a craftsman! Thanks for sharing all those tips. Also, great questions too. Brilliant video!
Thanks mate, glad you enjoyed it and found it useful!
Top video - really good to get pro tips from Brian, huge thanks to him as I have an epic amount of painting to do when I complete my extension!
Cheers mate, he's been chuffed with the responses like yours. He really takes pride in his work!
Loads of great info, thanks. Brian should be starting his own youtube channel.
He's a cool guy. He seems to love painting, fair play!
Proper decorator, top job mate!
Thank you lads I’m painting my current first moved in house I’m disabled but I’ll get it there sooner rather than later
All the best with it!
🔥 favourite notification atm! love the content
Really informed content tom I've picked up loads of tips along the way thanks for the video's tom
Lovely video off clear instructions how to do a good job thank you
Great vid. Great explanation 👌
Life on the brush. The candle man.
He's a cowboy...yee haa.
Hi , for ceilings I use Tikkurila anti relflex paint, best in the market, I wouldn’t use anything else 👍
I was taught how to use a roller while working in the painters union DC 35 in Boston. I had previously used one the way Brian does here. Then I was taught how to use one properly.
Good stuff cool video
Thank you
Great tips. I think if your plasterer is solid, no need to sand down. Perfect finish though.
Alway a need, you sand the mist coat, there may be bits in the paint, plaster water splashes, saw dust etc etc. Always worth a quick rub down.
@@MrJimtimslim agree mate.
Nice video. Only thing that surprised me after decorating 20+ years is cutting in with a 1.5/2 inch brush. Always use a 3 if you have the control, gives a far better cut in, and far faster.
I use a 4inch sashhh... id use a wicker broom if they made one big enough
Cool
As a Painter decorator it's good watching others but one thing I've found is these promote the if you can pee you can paint mentality in people. I tend to use Hamilton and Viper trims for different applications. Should a mixed a hard stop filler to fill on the first coat that was applied but that's all I'd have done differently.
Hope you was on a day rate and I hope he had you talking for weeks 😂👌
Im 12 years old im not good at art but i helped my mum paint her room and ive been practising coyld i still be good painter
you have to spot prime those patches. if you don't the spots will flash.
Hi, please could you ask Brian, after he’s sanded the mist coat and rubbed it down, does he then go over it with a cloth or damp rag or anything to wipe the dust away that’s been created or does he just put the topcoat on ?
He goes straight from from sanding down, to painting. He said you can wipe down with a cloth if you want to, but it's not strictly necessary if the walls are plumb because the dust falls mainly onto the ground.
Thanks mate for checking this , I wasn’t sure if the dust would end up spoiling the topcoat 👍
brian knows his stuff, what a pro. where abouts is he based?
South East London.
Drop me an email if you want to get in touch with him 🤙
It’s amazing how many painters won’t use a three inch brush to cut in if he’s been painting as long as he says he says it shouldn’t be a a problem
Hi how much did brain charge what was his rate priced work or day rate or price per room..
Thank you I must say the extension looks cracking I have watched all of them ❤️
Brian charges based on a mixture of day-rate and price per room...it's not an exact science really...if you're in the south east, contact him!
Hi when are you going to upload anymore videos…we miss you!
If the radiator is different colour. Quick sand. Undercoat first. Stops cracking once grossed
Wasn’t *GLOSSED* it was finished in *SATIN*
I use a pole sander it easy
I study now to become a professioanal painter , and i realy want to
Doesn’t the filler after painting causes patches? I have this problem, how do i get rid of it?
From speaking to Brian, you need to lightly rub down, and then go over the area with a couple of coats; blending in the newly painted areas 👍
I always go over filler patches with a watered down mist coat as the filler can suck the moisture out of the paint like new plaster also it helps stop the filler showing
Through...
Great suggestion, thanks!
What the price for a small room
And l there was me thinking you had to use heat resistant radiator enamel paint because of the heat otherwise paint that is Not designed for painting Rads always goes yellow even cracks & blisters after short time .
Would it not be faster to pull sockets fronts away from wall
You're are right and l would normally wrap them in a cheap plastic food bag held in place with either a rubber band or some form of tape. I know it's sometimes easier said then done but they should all be electrically isolated.
Yeah it would, and on a number of the ones that are going to be replaced for new ones, we did just that, but there were some that had already been changed and fixed in place.
For the average DIY'er who doesn't want to be taking them away from the wall, the Masking tape trick is a great work around.
at last someone who knows how to tip paint out a paint tin, from the correct side. .. and working out one side of the kettle.
Brian has let me down with not having a proper duster brush though lol
Colour of the paint using please?
It's simply Dulux Sage Green 👍 (not the heritage paint, just the normal diamond Matt)
Hi Brian I want a room to paint
I am in rochdale i have 17 years paint experience i search for job
There are some so say painters and decoraters on you tube giving out poor information.. Brian does it the proper way preparation is key to the final finish .
Cheers, I'll pass on your encouragement - I think he's absolutely brilliant!
Personally, I’d never use satinwood on radiators. Specific radiator paints are produced to account for the thermal expansion of a radiator and therefore leave a very durable finish as opposed to gloss/satinwood which will end up peeling off over time
oil based won't crack water based will.
No it won't painting 20 year and never had it happen
@@johnwayne2182 if you apply a water based finishing paint over oil on a rad it will crack
@@jackwardley3626 it will but not oil base . I think water base is waste of money no coverage no protection. Its good when ur working in a house with kids or old people
@@johnwayne2182 its more for painters who don't enjoy their job or don't care its is hard competing on pricing casue you do have to charge more with oil but we never used them years ago so why change over to water when its obviously not as good the amount of rads i have to strip cause the water over oil it's ridiculous and varnish and woodstains what so called painters have done none them trained just pick up a brush and call themselves a painter putting in stupid prices their killing the industry.
Let Brian do his job and go away ☺️
But then you wouldn't have a video to post this pointless comment on...!
Dude why don’t you just replace the radiator with a new one?
Fair question - simple answer is sheer washing capacity for drying clothes! Those rads get absolutely roasting hot, and if they were doubles, but half as long, we wouldn't have as much space to dry clothing on!
@@OfficeBoyBuilder be careful of the excess humidty when clothes drying indoors without adequate Ventilation as mold can form quite quickley, especially now you've got the "sealed" extension
@@OfficeBoyBuilder Great way of introducing mould into your nicely painted kitchen.😳 Buy a vented tumble dryer for the winter/ rainy days.
It's such and open ventilated area, between the room, the kitchen and hallway...it'll be fine!
@@OfficeBoyBuilder in an ideal world you shouldn’t be running your boiler at such high temperatures. The lower you can run the boiler temp, the more efficient it will be.

This guy pretending he has no idea behind the camera 😅
Any Painters worth their salt don’t use 9’inch rollers 🤦🏻♂️
Dont use any vinyl on ceiling. Matt only.
You use vinyl Matt on the ceiling 40 years in the trade vinyl Matt on the ceiling!!
@@christopherbutts3346 He probably thinks vinyl only comes in silk.
Vinyl Matt best for ceilings
Never been a painter slow as fuck brush marks everywhere
