Thanks for creating this video. In video mode, I love the smooth transition of the Sigma. The Zeiss is not pleasant and it bounces when it changes of focus point. In video, focus speed is not important, but an smooth transition (like in a Hollywood movie). Otherwise, the bokej is beautiful in both lenses, I nearly can't see the difference between 1.8 and 1.4, both look great. Cheers!
Two moth ago I bought the Zeiss Batis Sonnar 85mm 1.8 used for US$550 (taxes included) in excellent condition, I do not need aperture 1.4, the Zeiss is lighter and it is beautiful build, it handles very well and I can recommend it.
I used to own batis from 2016, but this year I have changed it for Sigma 85/1.4 DN. What can I say - the sharpness and bokeh is really much more pleasing, but the color accuracy is of course better on the Batis. Luckily Sigma is easy to correct. Overall I am still waiting for Sony 85/1.4 GM II 😂 The best solution would be if Zeiss could refresh the Batis line. I am pretty sure they could make lightweight lenses with bigger apeture and without OS, but as I see they are done with Batis. P.S. The most interesting Batis is the 135/2.8 (release price was €2000) - this is the only Batis i decided to keep ❤
@@FreeLensImageBatis has a top quality weather sealing. I've shoot a few times in the rain and for example Sony G lenses might get foggy and Batis not. Back in 2015 Batis 85/1.8 was a dream lens for Sony A7 1st gen 😉 Anyway the best lens overall that I have used and own is the Sony 50/1.2 GM - just perfect. Almost no post process is needed if shooting in day time.
Well, after looking at these images, the Batis is definitely better, even though it lost all the technical comparisons. I am glad that's the one I bought.
Both are great and both worth every penny : D i felt i. Love at first with that zeiss and it deffinitely has a soul and something in it. I will always recomend this lens if anyone askcme for a portrait lens for sony 🤪
Yeap! There is a setting to set a speed an AF speed. You can set a speed of AF in general. You can also set how fast AF react for another subject, and how fast transition from one to another. It can be set on a scale from 1-5 or 1-7 ;)

Sigma gives more bokeh Batis has better colors straight out of camera Batis is smaller and lighter and has Optical stabilization. And the last and very important think... It will be much easier to ReSale sigma than batis. I sold sigma in 5 days. I was selling batis for almost a year ;) batis is great but for a specific person and reason. Sigma is so well known that you will find a buyer for it in a few days. And thats why i would go for a Sigma ;)

Right now i try to well that Batis and its not so easy. I see that there is not too much interest in this lens on market even its quite a good lens😂🤣

Isn’t there a setting on the Sony to speed up autofocus? I could be wrong though
