I had the same Bible and it lasted about 8-9 years before the faux leather started crumbling. Crossway guarantees them for life, so I contacted them, documented my problem, and talked to them about replacing it with a genuine leather large print. They agreed and I paid a price differential, as I expected to, and have been using it now for a couple of years. My only complaint is the color print does not carry over to the large print Bible - it changes to a pale grey-green. While I also have the MacArthur NKJV and the new NIV study Bibles and still find the ESV to be the best single study Bible.

I have recently been looking at buying this ESV Study Bible and had questions about font sizes, materials, construction, and overall durability. You answered them all thank you. I do trust the work behind the ESV. So no issues there. I’ve looked at the new ones and as you mentioned they are printed in China. So I’ve decided to look for an older edition printed here, even if it’s used. I even emailed Crossway and asked about the China printed Bible. I appreciate the comment and kind response. Yes, being made in China is not ideal for me as well. If possible, I look to by USA and I am more and more leaning on the NKJV translation. It’s a bit more true to the Greek but being slightly more modern than the KJV.
I have the same study Bible but ended up getting the large print due to my aging eyes. It has 11pt font and is fantastic, as you know. Good to know it will hold up for the long haul, as I've had mine just for a few months. I have so many study Bibles but wanted to try this one out, and so far it's great!
The ESV Study Bible is quite possibly the greatest study bible ever made and I love how extensive the study notes are, as well as all the articles at the back of the Bible. I have the large print (11-point font) and I love it.
With over 60 study Bibles on my shelf the ESV is still probably my favorite. I really wish they would re-release the premium heritage version. I have the large print leather and the buffalo leather versions and would still buy a real premium version.
Awesome review I'm from Arkansas as well although I reside in Arizona now. I too love the Esv study Bible. Of course I don't agree with some of the theology, however, I have never seen such a well done well thought out Bible in my life. I've read through so many study Bibles before and this is the best one I've ever seen for study. The most important thing is not so much to agree on everything but to love our Lovely Lord Jesus Christ with all of our hearts. I don't believe in the Trinity I basically believe that Jesus is the father as He is many things savior, friend, healer, etc... However, like I said this is the most well put together study Bible I have ever seen and I absolutely love it. I appreciate the scholarship and efforts behind it, and I appreciate your review of it. Given that this is produced by crossway that is a not-for-profit publisher, any profit will go to providing free resources globally. $50 sounds ok for me. Maybe it was more expensive in the first years of publication as you need to pay 90 scholars for their hours of work. You can definitely get it for less than $30 nowadays.
Hey Jay… I believe what you are referring to is the ISBN number of the Bible produced. It is usually on the box or Bible depending on publisher and helps in referencing the exact Bible for purchase. Blessings
I tend to agree. I keep a close watch specifically over commentary on ALL translations. I encourage everyone to not only do their own research but to more importantly ask the Holy Spirit for guidance when reading. Thanks!
