To all that watch this video .from my experiences never mount your canister coil "fluid filled " on its side! Always make sure it mounted strait up and down. If you lay it on its side the fluid doesn't cover the internals and will after a while burn up the coil
When dealing with values that low, .5-.7 ohms you should short the leads first to measure the resistance in the leads themselves. If you subtract the lead value from your primary winding measurement, you'll find the true value, and it's probably 'in-spec'.
Took my mustang out yesterday it starts and was randomly dying on my if I gave it a decent amount of gas it would just instant power loss about 3-3500 rpm and sometimes die. The main was giving me only about 3400 but the primary was giving me about .6
so I have a hvc 2 coil, spec is 0.16 ohms and I get 0 ohms using 3 different meters. so is it good or bad? it works kinda I'm pretty sure it's killing my msd boxes.
Ok i have 3 blaster 2 coils First one when i got the car read Primary 00.9 Secondary 4.35 repaced that with this coil read Primary00.9 Seconday 5.22 The one in the car now read Primary 01.0 Secondary 5.15 car hard starting everything was replacesd MSD Wires .cap, plugs the second coil looks brand new and i repalced that thinking it was the coil The secondary is highest at 5.22 are any of these coils good or should i replace with a new one
Just did a test on my MSD SS blaster coil . on 200Ω ohms setting I have 0.09 and the 20kΩ ohms setting I have 3.65 is that good or bad or ok ? do I need to replace it?
Great video I can finally know how to test my msd's coils. Do you have in your bronco an MSD ignition box or a 0.8 ballast? Because I was about to install a blaster 2 coil to my car but I start patiently reading the installation manual and I found that a ballast resistor is required for stock ignitions, otherwise the coil may be damaged.
I'm need help I have a msd 6a blaster 2 coil when I turn my ignition on I test the power on the + and - on the coil what should I see on my meter thanks
I BOUGHT THE MSD 8572 DISTRIBUTOR AND THE MSD 6AL ( 6425 ) WITH THE WIRES AND MSD PLUG. I installed the system but im getting crazy sparks coming out of my factory coil ( new ).... any ideas? i READ i could be because i need the msd blaster 2 coil... would that be right ?
Hello. -Brittany, '93 Cobra, Possible MSD Ignition Issues: No matter how I look at my screen I cant see what your meters say. But you explain well, I'll give it a go. ~Thank you.
Coil is good. Found a really shitty constant positive to the box. Fixed that. Found why the electronic fan was bypassed. Fixed that... We'll see how she goes today.
I don't understand why people can't be conscientous enough to make sure that the instruments or items can be seen. There should be no glare on the ohmmeters. Your hands shouldn't get in the way of the important places to place your leads. How is this a "helpful" video when these things are not considered? Information is great...but most people are visual learners.

Thank you! Very much.
Thank you so so much, a question I would have is how to test the distributor itself on my specific car with the blaster 2 set up it's a Ford Probe GT

Good video mate, well described and to the point 🔧👍

I got 415 on the SS with it set in 20k is that good or bad have 0 spark on used msd 6al distributor and SS coil

Would 6 month life be unusual? I’m going to do your test. Thank you
thank you. sorry about my english.
primary: 3.3
secondary: 5.57
can you think about my coil?
workin very well?
thank you
Hello what should the primary and secondary for HVC_2 coil 6 series 8253 read please.
I'm need help I have a msd 6a blaster 2 coil when I turn my ignition on I test the power on the + and - on the coil what should I see on my meter thanks
Thank you wasn't sure
Why is my car killing coils? Msd 8226 only lasted 8months
Second coil lasted 7 months
That was a midrange car quest coil.
Would u happen to know why am getting power on negative side....i have a blaster ss
Show your meter screen. The reflection is useless.

probably not. What part of the coil are the sparks coming from
the top, right where the wire meets the coil
Hello how do I install an msd blaster ss on a single cylinder motorcycle?
I have an msd blaster 2 and the secondary reads 11k. Is that considered bad. Car is having problems when warm. Will misfire and gets bad surges
1970pitstop I would make sure its in spec, I would try a different coil to make sure that is the problem. 11K seems pretty high
What was the fix? Mine is having the same issue

***** Are you misfiring? might also want to check the TFI module on the distributor.
Thanks for reaching out. Yes possibly.
This car is a BEAST! It's all been touched by someone just trying to get the job done to get the pay check.

What would happin if u placed 12v.to the negative side of coil
Long winded and lots of wasted time. However, this is a very good video for information.
Thomas Colvin Most videos on here are from long winded fucktards
damn, I needed the spec on the blaster 3
okay so my blaster 2 is reading... .5 and it also reads 5.13 so I guess it's fine
