In my opinion the Hatsuharu captian got way too much hate than he possibly should have. As a bottom tier DD, he provided a smoke screen upon our Host's request, which was the only reason I can think of he was creeping so slowly into the cap. Then he realised he is a little bit behind, so he turned on the engine boost, placed a smoke screen and bail out in order to not overcrowd the smoke screen.
Raise your hands, whoever did not get fooled by a BB and dropped a set of torpedos on a totally wrong bearings. At the end, I would be totally happy to have a teammate like this Hatsuharu. Still way better than most of braindead BB captians sailing around with the same course and speed.
WG - Displays huge "Impossible to hit target" notification on screen for deep water torpedos when targeting destroyers and cruisers!

He may have dropped the torps trying to panic Xolotl into backing up and ceasing fire. At that point he had nothing to lose.

@@hailitalia86 If all you see is the torp warning and you didn't see what fired them at you, it can be very effective. If you KNOW it was a ship with a type of DWT to which you are immune, or you see the icon type in time to be able to decide whether you need to dodge or not, you can learn to keep calm and ride it out.
Its a rather useful tactic to get people off smoke screens, specialy if your target cannot see outside and doesnt know that the torps cant dmg them.
Its basically exploiting the "panic" of the torpedo alarm sound

I'd rather have a team player potato than a selfish potato. That smokescreen and spotting were very useful. A pretty textbook DD team play, even if the torpedoes sucked and the engine boost was unnecessary.

The Hatsuharu was by no means a bad player. He wasn't excellent, no, but certainly not bad. The guy got no kills and a mere two plane kills, and despite missing pretty much all the torpedoes we saw him fire late in the game, he still came above a Bismarck with a kill and 6 planes, the Saipan, an Izmail with 3 planes, and the New Mexico and the Minsk. The Chapayev barely beat him on base xp by like 50, and the Chapayev we watched "did stuff."
No, this is the side of modern-day Jingles I don't like, and this has been going on for at least a year now: him shit-talking players who aren't great but aren't doing anything specifically _wrong._

Had to pauze the video for a bit, that was some smart play from the Leander player at the start of the battle. Never seen anyone do that and it was quite a smart move if you ask me. Well done.
Hatsuharu thinking. Slowed down for the leander, or to see what the BBs did so he could get in position for torp drops. The smoke was 100% not for the Hatsu, that was dropped for the leander. I often share my smokes in torp boats with cruisers, they get more use from them and serve as a distraction. Angry smoke firing shells, must be a DD in there, meanwhile I have flanked and torped from the broad side, much like the Hatsu did. Just a thought. Which is why he used the speed boost, to get into position, once there he slowed to read the target.
i think the hatsu at the end was dropping a smoke for the leander actually; to my mind, as playing a destroyer, I think he was waiting for the leander in case a dd was there, getting the engine boost ready etc.

difference being. Aztec where found by the Spanish.. Spanish and English uses the same alphabet. Aztec names where transcribed into our alphabet. so by default its alot easier to understand and pronounce :P

The only explanation that makes sense about the Hatsuharu is he was slowing to let Leander catch up so as not to notify the enemy team they were capping, then he popped engine boost because he wanted to accelerate/decelerate faster to ensure a more effective smoke for Leander. The stealthy cap was priority over the torps.

Not taking anything away from his efforts, but I think you’re discounting how much the friendly benson did for his team considering he got about 2300 base xp from that shot

It's also kinda what happened to the game. Game was more fun after release. Ships were different. Mechanics were different. DDs were stronger. BBs did not deliver as much paddling to broadsides. CVs were more balanced before the rework in that you could deplane them. Less long range fun police mechanics, more Leeeeroy jenkins style savagery and torpedo dancing. To me WOWs kinda peaked like

What makes you think the Hatsuharu popped smoke for himself? He accelerated out of it right afterward. Seems pretty clear that it was laid for the Leander. As a guess, I think he engaged engine boost to get to the far end of the cap circle to give himself a good torpedo angle, and then thought that the Leander could use his smoke partway and interrupted his rush to do it. I'm giving that guy credit for being a team player.
...and watching a little farther along, that's exactly what he was doing. He got to the angle he wanted and immediately dumped his fish in the water.
I agree the Leander has it's drawbacks, but I love playing it in Senario's.

The Hatsuharu was probably afraid of the Sims and wanted to make sure he had the Leander with him, and he also wanted to smoke up that Leander as payment.

nah yongyea has known it for a couple of days a lot of wows twitter send him the twit, he doesn't play this game so he probably doesn't understand what to make of it.
Not to mention, as Jingles has said in one of his previous videos, this entire fiasco isn't entirely "new" nor is it newsworthy. If World of Warships was a 60$ game, then maybe it'll hit the news, but since its a free2play, most journos don't really look into it unless it's something waay worse.

HMS Leander is one of my favourite light cruisers in the game.
I have had countless fantastic games with the ship.
Excellent concealment and utility with quick firing 6in. guns,smoke, hydro and torpedoes, it is a very good 'team' ship and I have been the bane of many destroyers while playing HMS Leander.

It's sad that they introduced "The Dock" concept this way. It woul dhave been netter if they used it for the introduction of a new line. Likethe European DD's. You could work the missions to build your shps in the dock. It could be similar to the intro of the italian crusiers where you could complete the missions and get the initial ships. It wold have been cool to see them built up in the Docl as you completed the steps.
I love my Leander, and have lovingly named it The Fat Destroyer. Regarding the Wargaming PR Fiasco, a useful analogy would be "putting out a fire with petrol."

Just finished my Leander grind, and what a ship. Play it like a sneaky little torpedo boat, with decent close range damage output and it sings. But, make a mistake and it is LITERALLY a floating citadel
I think the hatsaharu was waiting for the Leander so he could set a smokescreen for him and then creep out of it to continue spotting for the leander
Maybe the Hatsu was waiting for the Leander to arrive in the cap so that he could provide a smoke screen for him, while continuing to spot.

Other more reasonable companies may have done that. The PR is decidedly average to poor in terms of ability, so people getting it as compensation wouldn’t break the game.
Just remove the damn end-date of the building of it, and your entire playerbase would be happy.....that would ofc mean WG dont make a ton of money on it...so thats absolutely ruled out. Cos why have a happy playerbase, when you can get rich of an angry playerbase.

On NA they refunded 4750 doubloons rather than roll back the time. The 1250 they didn't refund was the cost of the santa crate.
A step in the right direction for PR would be respective reductions in directive requirements as well as dubloons boosting cost.
Honourable mention to the Benson, who sensibly went ahead and capped as much as he could.
For all that the Hatsuharu screwed up, he still wasn't as bad as the friendly team's Minsk; just over half as much base XP as the _losing team's worst player_

I’m pretty sure that in Australia that if someone asks for their money back they have to give it back, they can’t limit it to ‘store credit’. Since the whole PR thing is broken/misleading/etc.

The Leander is one of the best kiters in the fame because of how quick she can maenouver with the Rudder Shift. It's hilarious to do a little arse-wiggle and watch whole battleship broadsides splash harmlessly into empty ocean.
As one of the three people who liked Hatsuharu before the reshuffle, I got no explanation for what they're doin in this match. Even by my questionable standards, its a mystery.
That Amalfi really donked it, the Leander had no chance against SAP.

Ackchually Jingles, HMS Leander is the best tree tier 6 cruiser in the game. And she is considered to be one of the best tier 6 cruisers in the game (beside Perth and Graf Spee).
I love this ship. She is the best middle tier destroyer. And by the way Perth have shorter range - 12.8 km

Strangely enough, Leander was my first ship to earn Dreadnought on. Along with Double Strike on 2 Graf Spees (1 died to torpedoes, one to fires from secondary battery)

I've honestly found tier 9 to be a great tier to be recently. I have been getting a lot of tier 7's in most of my matches and the other half being true 9 lobbys.

Xolotl ASKED the Hatsuharu to set a smokescreen. Still doesn't explain why they used an engine boost, but at least one of the consumables wasn't wasted.
Jingles, I think you're being a bit harsh on the Hatsuharu. Xolotl asked him for a smokescreen, he obliged, and then left the smoke to continue spotting targets. Then, he chose to ignore a cap that the friendly Benson was about to take anyway in favour of continuing to spot and harass the enemy battleships. And as for him missing with the torpedoes, well, anyone who's played a game or two in a Japanese destroyer will tell you how even the best player can sometimes miss a perfect torpedo shot.

Shout out to the Benson. 7:50: The New Mexico goes down, leaving him alone of the western flank. He then stayes hidden for 4 minutes until at 14:20 he managed to get the Lexington to himself and sinks him. After so many games of getting detected by unavoidable air spotting, that had to have been satisfying. And then he captures 2 points solo to cap it off.

I actually don't hate the Leander. It worked very well for me in sprint. I'd say it is better than "ok".
I unlocked my Captain Jingles, and my Leander... I got 112k damage in my first game.... I love this ship :)
Maybe Jingles.... Just maybe... That hatsuharu was laying the smoke screen for the Leander. You tell destroyers to lay smoke screens for allies then complain when they do. Although the hatsuharu did pretty much everything else wrong. So fair play on that

i agree. its my fault, but had WG made that whole vent just a bit more clear, i dare say 90% of people hadnt even bothered with the drydock. im just one of those disappointed people
You lose the progress the dub boosters got you, and you get back the doubloons MINUS the doubloon value of any gift crates they brought you, but you _don't lose the stuff you got out of them_ - they just make you pay for the crates, effectively, which is fair.
Frankly I would be happier if wows let us use some coal and steel on the PR to speed construction along.
Had a nice little battle a couple of weeks ago (not only my personal best in the Bis, but the team was good too and there was a couple of interesting moments) and I was thinking of submitting it to Jingles without totally wasting his time... and then the patch came and broke my replay. Bugger.
Its easy to look good compared against the Emerald, but its also easy to look bad compared to the Fiji.
