Thanks for those words! I've never felt more love, peace, and happiness in my life until I did one simple thing - be honest. I'm glad that my story has moved you!I'm amazed because I simply wanted to be heard instead of hiding anymore. Spread the word and help change the world! Your friend, Derek.
I completely agree! Once I graduated, I left the church immediately, found my boyfriend, and have never been happier. Never going back! :) Just be true and love everyone and life is great.
Hi Derek, very happy to hear you find confidence and peace of your sexuality and know God always loves you. I have a similar story and had been struggled with my sexual orientation before. Your video reminds me the hard journey I've been through and life really gets better.Thank you for the touching and encouraging video and wish you all the best!
Beautiful story and so well-said, Derek! I hope that you and others like you cause a shift in Mormon culture toward more understanding and acceptance. Your outspoken honesty and self-acceptance is inspiring and undeniable. I hope there are many more people who follow in your footsteps to create change!
People may criticize how these pioneers express themselves and/or USGA but I feel blessed to live in a time when people are losing their fear and telling their stories. Sincerity is what will win people over and diminish ignorance, bigotry, prejudice, and hate.
ou are strong and you are wonderful. I'm glad that you are finding peace and happiness with yourself. I hope there comes a day when Mormons who find out that they're gay and ask themselves what they should do can confidently and unashamedly answer: The man of my dreams. Good luck on your journey Derek and I hope you have many beautiful days ahead of you.
Are you attending BYU? If so, attend USGA. If not, email some active gay Mormons such as the people in these videos and ask them for their opinions. :)
The best thing to do is leave the church because in the church, sadly, gay and lesbian members will always be treated and a 2nd class citizen. Do not put yourself through the oppression that the LDS Church and Brigham Young University forces upon their gay and lesbian members and students.
Well said, Derek. Thanks for showing your strength.

I have so much respect for. I am a gay Mormon, when I was coming to terms with it there was not much support. Thank you so much for being honest.
